The Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II, has insinuated that President Muhammadu Buhari's administration has created more billionaires in the past months. Speaking at the 15th Joint National Council on Developmental Planning meeting in Kano, Sanusi said: “We have created our own billionaires since 2015 from foreign exchange subsidy.” Continuing, Sanusi said: “For instance, when the CBN was selling dollar at N197 and people were buying at N300, if I sit down in my garden and pick up my phone I would have enough people to call in the industry to get 10 million dollars at officials rate and sell at N300 and make a profit of over N1bn and if I do that four times in a year. For doing nothing I would have earned N4bn. “And people were telling us that this policy was to help the poor. We should not devalue because if we do the poor people would suffer. “… People that were profiting from this were the ones telling the government that if you devalue people would suffer; meanwhile they all got the dollar at N197 and price their goods at N300. “The poor paid the price of the devalued currency and the rich schemed up the profits and it went on for one year and we talked and talked and talked. “If the present administration continues to behave the way the immediate past government behaved, we will end up where Jonathan ended. You may not like it but that is the truth,” he said. The Emir also added that no one needs to be an economist to realise that any system that allows someone to make N1 billion profit through a phone call without investing a dime is a wrong system and is not sustainable. The former Governor of CBN also warned that if wise investments isn't used to expand the Nigeria's economy, it might be heading for worse. “If we do not expand the economy through wise investment, we can end up in classical Malthusian situation,” said Sanusi. The Emir has been giving tips and ideas on how the Nigerian economy can bounce back from its current economic state following the declaration of recession by the Federal Government.

Please help us ask these morons: Where will Travelex get the dollars from? Is it not from the same CBN that does not have enough? Why bring in another middle man to distribute a product that is already very scarce? Won't that create even more room for cronyism and skimming off, and padding. Does this govt even realise they are indirectly fueling corruption by their clueless policies? |
SGF Babachir Lawal and Chief of Staff to Abba Kyari are two of the most corrupt officials in Buhari's govt. These wicked people don't even mind stealing from widows and orphans. How low can a man descend just to make money. They are also members of Buhari's kitchen cabinet and his closest confidants after Buhari's cousin Mamman Daura. Yet Buhari see nothing, hears nothing, and says nothing #ChangeBeginsWithBuhari (CBWB) #WhereDidAllTheMoneyGo

Recycled news. This stale new was first published by the same same website "Investorsking.com" in January 2016. See link below https://www.nairaland.com/2864650/cbn-replace-local-bureau-de-changes-travelex Ten months after it is being dug up again by government moles in social media sites to deceive and give people false hope and impression that govt is doing something about the economy. Ten months after it was first mooted, it is still "will", "to", "shall". When will implementation begin? Every policy of this govt is futuristic. For them, the future never comes. But can they stop the hands of the clock? Never!! 2019 looming. |
Why must our president always go to a foreign country to disclose important information and make policy announcements? Is it Saudi Arabians that put him in office? It seems our president does not feel he is accountable to Nigerians |
Buhari plans to propose 2017 budget of N6.8 trillion. The govt claims to have saved the following amounts: N2.6trn through TSA N1.4trn from Subsidy N3.2trn from recovered loot N665bn from stamp duty N1.1trn from custom N2.6trn from Tax revenue N2.7trn from crude oil The list is endless. Going by various government pronouncements, total funds garnered so far is well above N13.2trns. Why is govt still running from IMF to AFDB to Islamic Bank looking for more money to borrow, when they have done next to nothing with this huge amount already in the kitty and still counting? |
berrystunn:Good question. Meanwhile by my rough estimate Buhari has already expended over $58 billion = N18.6 trillion since taking over in May 2015 with absolutely nothing to show for it. Yet the country is experiencing hardship and negative trends by all economic indicators. This is strange. https://www.nairaland.com/3374612/over-58billion-expended-buhari-16 They have borrowed N2.2trillion this year which the Minister of Finance, Kemi has no clue what it was spent on. AfDB has promised to loan them a further $5 billion. $1.1billion will be released immediately according to AfDB President Adesina. Still they want to borrow more. It shocks me that Nigerias are not asking this government where has all the money gone. What they claim they have piled up is more than enough to finance 2017 budget 2 times over without borrowing a dime. |
kenonze:Simple autobiography that should be written by a Nigerian who knows him well, he gave to a foreigner. There are hundred's of Nigerian professors, journalists and writers who could expertly handle the job. Buhari preaches self-sufficiency, yet he prefers foreign goods and services. If he has ear infection, he jumps into a plane to have doctors check it out in London. Before he became President, he would have drank agbo or used cow dung to annoint his ear drums. This change must start with someone. That person is definitely Buhari #ChangeBeginsWithBuhari (CBWB) |
kalokalo:Excellent analysis. Unfortunately, Buhari naively believes that people like OBJ dancing around him can deliver SW. OBJ has negative (not zero) electoral value. He as lost polling units in front of his house in many elections. Even if you conduct election in his parlour, he will lose because his children and wives will vote against him. Only small problem is INEC and electoral courts. Buhari can use both to "manage" elections in SW and NC. They did a trial run in Edo governorship election, and INEC National Commissioner Amina Zakari, El-Rufai's protégé deliberately planted made sure the result went the "right" way. She was in Edo state throughout to oversee the heist. The INEC Chairman Prof Mamood Yakubu is off course naturally a Northerner. He will ensure the "right things" are done to give Buhari a 2nd term. All key security outfits, paramilitary outfits, investigative outfits and key ministries that oversea security outfits are firmly in Northerner's hands. When required, they will rope in, drag down and comprehensively deal with anyone who stands in their way. |
PierreDeFermat:He no need am again. Doctors operated on his eyes 2 weeks ago in New York during UNGA. That is why him eye don clear to know say Tinubu is a threat that must be dealt with. Next week the man is travelling to West Germany so doctors there will finally operate to cure his ear infection. When he returns from West Germany, dat ear wey nor dey hear word go open fiam! After that na to travel go Japan make dem operate dat him mouth wey dey lie lie like Lie Mohammed. |
Keneking:Seems I am behind a bit on events. What did Tinubu resign from? |
AlPeter:And the stealing has continued in full force now that Buhari who combines the twin office of Petroleum Minister and President of the Nigeria is in charge. Why is Buhari still refusing to remit the funds to FAAC 16 months after he assumed office? What is the difference between Buhari and his predecessors? Where is evidence of the change? #ChangeBeginsWithBuhari - CBWB |
So GE intends to invest $2b in whole of Africa. But Buhari makes a national broadcast saying $2.2b out of $2b will be invested by GE in Nigeria alone. Truth is only $170m is planned by GE for Nigeria. I suspect our the Lie-Lie master himself, Lie Mohammed and our Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun who has clear challenges with adding figures must have given this voodoo numbers to his boss. If these people can be so brazen in deceiving on basic facts that are in public domain, should anyone believe anything else they are telling us? They could not content themselves by lying that the entire $2b is coming to Nigeria. They must add jara of $200,000 just to make the lie solid. |
FAAC: The Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) has expressed concern over non-remittance of $3.28 billion, representing 43,645,678 barrels of crude oil lifted by Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC), a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) into the federation account, New Telegraph learnt.

When Buhari is blaming his predecessors, I hope he also realises that he is blaming himself since he was Head of State between 1984-1985. Also I hope he understands that last 16 years also includes the last 15months he has been in charge. So he is actually blaming himself. A clear case of when you point one finger at somebody and four are pointing right back at you. |
kenny987:When Buhari keeps saying economy was mismanaged in the last 16 years, the questions that come to mind are: 1. Did Nigeria come into existence 16 years ago? 2. Does it mean that previous governments of Abacha, IBB, Abdulsalami Abubakar, Shagari and General Buhari all managed the economy well? |
abeloureal:Bros tell them. That is why 3rd class from Covenant Univ will come out with real life skills, IT certification and ICAN, and employers will grab them. Whereas Unilag and Uniben 1st class will be pounding the streets for year, yet no job. Ditto for AUN (American Univ) Yola. Meanwhile, in other news Unilag featuring prominently on that list has just been shut again by that moronic VC called Prof Rahomon Bello, who graduated 1st Class from Ife, but has zero crisis management skills |
Leaving your children with someone to go for vigil ![]() One golden rule, if you don't want your teenage child in those crowded neighbourhoods ending up in someone's bed. Never allow them go on vigil alone, they will not reach the church premises. And never leave them alone to go for vigil. It's an opportunity for day-break with their boyfriends. Not saying that is the case with Ijeoma who was obviously abused and violated long before she attained 14 years. Feel bad for her. The 3 he-idiots should be humiliated and flogged in the area where they reside before police prosecution |
Motun03:You are indeed. Excellent attitude and response. Never allow anyone put you down |
The estimate did not consider the MTN fine originally put at N1.04 trillion or $5.2billion. This was reduced to $1.7billion or N330billion. Out of the reduced amount, MTN CEO Ferdi Moolman personally confirmed that N30billion (1st installment) has been paid MTN Nigeria has made a total payment of N80bn to the Nigerian Communications Commission in respect of the fine imposed on the mobile operator. |
MrPresident1:I don't think this is just smoke screen. You don't issue a public statement calling your party chairman a thief and other unprintable names and openly calling for his removal if something is not seriously amiss. And for a core party man like Tinubu, who would naturally opt for internal party machinery to resolve issues, to come out publicly indicates he lost faith the highest organs of the party from the National Working Committee (NWC), downwards. This is an act of despair and desparation. He drew a clear battle line. Either Oyegun goes or he leaves, and "the choice has already been made". |
ivandragon:I agree with all your comments, except the calculation in bold. If you convert $30b to Naira at a rate of N320 you get N9.6trillion, not N3trillion. I did not suggest in my original post that this government has already spent the entire national reserve of $30b. I said they have spent about $6b out of it. The total amount they have expended is about $58b = N18.6 trillion if we use your preferred official rate of N320. This is a colossal sum by any standard of measure, and we should feel the impact of it. |
mrvitalis:Oh! So Federal Reserves is no longer Nigeria's money? Sounds like the kind of bombast Lai Mohammed will pull to fool Nigerians. Sad thing is many like this fellow will believe and applaud him. Ignorance is a terrible disease. I weep for Nigeria I won't waste my time to educate you. Your ignorance already signposts your level of thinking. |
MTN is a slimy company. From bribing Buhari's Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari to reduce the fine, to money laundering. MTN's financial transactions in Nigeria should be thoroughly investigated. |
spunky16:Don't mind the he-idiot. Na so konji dey Rob them of their destiny. If he brought just $20,000 to naija on holidays. Change it in this Buhari economy at N440 to $1, no be N8. 8m be dat.? |
Motun03:Small geh wey say im papa no go sleep, im sef no go take eye see sleep. |
Please read: http://thenationonlineng.net/tcn-lacks-capacity-evacuate-power/ The industry source who countered the position of the TCN said a transmission company worth its onions should have double of existing generation capacity.I really don't know how people including government ministers will just sit in their air-conditioned offices to manufacture lies to deceive Nigerians. Few weeks ago, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) raised alarm that national grid does not have the capacity to wheel the so-called 5,000MW gencos claim they can generate. So in reality the much claimed 5,000 is not being generated by running turbines. They are just idle cold machines. Even at the true capacity of 3,484MW, they need network capacity of 6969MW to be able to wheel (carry) that much power to DISCOs (distribution companies like EKEDC, IKEDC, etc). Implication is you need about 200% or double of the generating capacity as wheeling capacity for efficient evacuation to prevent systems collapse. Actual current wheeling capacity of TCN is about 4,000W. I don't know why Nigerians are so gullible and allow their leaders to easily deceive them, without bothering to do a simple check of facts. The so called 5000W is nothing but virtual megawatt or "technical" megawatt. Nigerians including those "jubilating" are still lighting candle and running "I better pass my neighbour". |
fendorf:If you have facts and figures, why not share them here? Or you are doing the typical bait-and-run. ![]() Just do a breakdown of the Contractors and Projects for which a whopping $58billion was paid out. This figure is about double the national reserve that Buhari met in May 2015 Lai Mohammed and Kemi Adeosun already announced to us that the recent release of N350 billion ($1.2billion) was to pay arrears of contractor they have not paid since they assumed office. Which subsidy are talking about. Have you forgotten so soon that the government ended subsidy by massively jerking up pump price of petrol. Subsidy on diesel was ended long time ago during GEJ govt. In any case the account is still not balanced. $58b-$1.2b still leaves a yawing balance of $56.8billion. If you know what they have done with the difference, where they kept it, please educate us. |
Standing5:I am not sure where you got your fact that the so-called recent release of N350b (the first significant release in 2016) was for salaries. Another Minister in the cabinet (I believe, Lai Muhammed) came out to help her out by explaining that the N350b was to pay arrears of debt contractors. He said this to explain why there is no impact in the economy of that release. Whether Nigerians believe him is another matter entirely, given his antecedents and habit of lying to the public. |
FastShipping:Do the math yourself. That figure is grossly underestimated |
fanacy:I try my best to research, and I post cold facts so the down trodden masses can see how their government at all levels are deceiving them. The picture below of the declining reserves should serve as a sober reminder to all that we have a very confused and deceptive President in Aso Rock, who has no clue how to run a modern economy. The chart from CBN clearly shows that Buhari started with $30.3billion
