Maxymilliano:I am cautiously hopeful that gradually the scales are falling from the eyes of Nigerians. Nepotism is a very virulent and institutionalised form of corruption. Tinubu used it effectively to siphon billions in Lagos State. That nepotic structure is still in place as of today and is still pumping mind boggling money into Tinubu's pockets. If you doubt it just go and see what HiTech Construction, Alpa Beta Consulting (Lagos State Govt official revenue collector who pockets 30% of revenue collected as fees) and Alba Ltd (the official refuse trucking company) are doing in Lagos. HiTech has exclusive right to all road contracts in Lekki, Ikoyi, Victoria Island axis. The Lekki - Epe Expressway dualisation has been going on for over 8 years, and billions expended yet the road has not gone beyond Ajah round about. |

So sad, Col Charles Nengite and his compatriot Col Timothy Shippi who was also recognised by the US Chief of Army Staff during the event will shortly be summarily retired and pushed out of the army for coming from the wrong part of Nigeria. This is the sad tragedy of Buhari's Nigeria. Naturally one would expect them to rise to the pinnacle in the military as so clearly stated by the Commandant of US War College. Unfortunately, they lack one critical qualification - there is no Mohammed or Abdulahi or Abubakar or Ibrahim in their names. |

What offence did Col TonyeT. Minimah commit apart from being a brother to former Chief of Army Staff Lt General Kenneth Minimah, and also having Rivers State as his home state. What offence did Maj Gen Letam Wiwa commit from from being a brother to late Ogoni environmental activist Ken Saro-Wiwa, who was murdered by Gen Sani Abacha. Maj Gen Letam Wiwa is also having his career ended just for coming from Rivers State. This is the dividend Rotimi Amaechi is delivering to his home state as a member of the ruling party inner caucus. Other officers like Lt Col F.D. Kayode is pushed out of the army for serving in Gombe, a state APC could not win. These fine officers were not involved and were never mentioned in any of the Dasuki armed scandals or election matters. The world is watching, and people from these areas are watching this ethnic cleaning in a grand-scale. |

President Muhammadu Buhari says he feels sorry for his information minister, Lai Mohammed because he is saddled with the responsibility of explaining his government’s actions and inaction to Nigerians . Speaking on Monday, May 30, 2016 when Buhari hosted state house correspondents at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Buhari said his cabinet have been doing their best to deliver the “change” promised by the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the 2015 campaigns. “One of the men I pity is Lai Mohammed. Everyday he is on TV explaining our performance or lack of it” Buhari said as he extolled his ministers for their “hard work”. Lai Mohammed “The ministers sit down day and night to work. Some of them have literally lost weight because they were sleeping less and eating less (while working on the budget). They were working on every kobo to be spent. “We recently just found out that we are poor because we don’t have anything to fall back to. This is the condition we found ourselves and this change mantra had to go through hell up till yesterday. “And for you to talk to whoever came to visit us throughout that year, I wonder how each of your diaries would be, because people were expecting this change mantra in their own way. “How do you define change? Luckily our party identified three major items, security, economy and corruption.” Lai Mohammed Aside, Buhari Says Economy Could Cover By Year End Buhari expressed optimism that the economy could recover in the last quarter of 2016 and defended his decision to reduce ministries from 42 to 24. He also derided some former permanent secretaries as lacking “commitment”. “When we came there were 42 ministries we cut it to 24. We had to do it on our own because we found out that government could not continue with 42 ministers and the paraphernalia of office so we cut it down to 24,” he said. “I underrated the influence of the PDP for 16 years watching from outside. The experience of the staff, their commitment and zeal is different from what it is now compared to when I was in government. Sixteen years of development in the life of a developing nation is a long time. “Most of the permanent secretaries were sent out because it was time for some of them to go and for others for one thing or the other. Because were not part of those 16 years this is where we found ourselves and this is no joke. “We had to cut down half the number of permanent secretaries and then do some cross postings. The permanent secretaries that were there for the past five, seven, 15 years the only thing that they know is how things were done in the previous years. Whatever we did in the campaign, in fact we were saying rubbish and that made it very difficult for us. “Things were even more difficult during the budget which you all know about. For somebody like me, for the first time I heard what is called padding. “I think we will recover by the fourth quarter of the year, what padding means especially for ministers who had implement what padding contains. There were very serious developments which I never knew about.”

Maj General Rogers has been on that rank since last year. I have seen him on Channels TV programme Sunrise Daily several times since January 2106. He is regularly invited to discuss Security matters. The promotion is not a recent one. Why is Okorocha instigating this kind of political circus to ridicule his people. He makes it look as if Buhari is doing Imo a favour by promoting one Imo indigene. In any case promotions are done by Army Council once all criteria are met. It is not a political favour dished out by a President. It is purely a professional matter. Only appointment of Service Chiefs, CDS and Commanders of top level military formations are directly made by the President based on sound professional advice. Some officers have just been retired last week for being involved in political issues. Okorocha is inadvertently putting the career of this fine officer at risk by organising this circus just to score cheap political points. |
atobs4real:I really don't understand this level of backward thinking and ignorance. Was Major General Ike Nwachkwu who was Imo State military governor under IBB not from Imo state? Rochas Okorocha is also so ignorant to celebrate this nonsense. Or perhaps their memory has been reset by APC? LaiMohammed-citis disease is really afflicting many people. |

Your biggest sin is that you lie every time you open your mouth, including when you are yawning. This one you just said now is also a lie, and you know it. Has nothing to do with elections. |
haywire1:I tend to agree with you. There are many practising Yoruba Muslims in Lagos and the entire South Western states of Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, and even in middle belt areas like Kwara and Kogi. Yet we never hear of this sort of religious brigandage. In Dubai and entire UAE they are very comfortable with non-Muslims living amongst them and doing their own thing whilst the Muslims practice their own religion without bothering anyone. Are they practising a different kind of Islam in these places? Why is the one in Northern Nigeria always different? They are always eager so shed blood and snuff out innocent life. This is exactly why some people feel very uncomfortable living with and sharing the same country with this people. They behave like a pack of mindless hyenas. |
Is Amaechi now the minister for environment? I thought we two substantive ministers covering that portfolio? Meanwhile issues in Amaechi's transport ministry are unattended. He is jumping all over the place acting as if he is still Buhari's campaign manager. Amaechi Elections are over ooo |
anaton:Can we also say that Fashola did not achieve anything in his 8 years as Lagos State governor because the plans he so effectively implemented were not his own but that of his predecessor Tinubu? Let us stop being clever by halves. Nigeria needs continuation of good policies and projects. Let someone whisper to Amaechi to go and re-open and commission that Maritime University at Okerenkoko. It is a wise thing to do. We cannot afford such large project built by tax payers money to be destroyed by one man just to score silly political points. |
In January 2016, the MD of Nigerian Railway Corporation Mr Adeseyi Sijuwade publicly announced that the rail system is ready, and that the coaches which were ordered by the previous government is expected to arrive in Feb/March 2016. Then the Kaduna-Abuja rail link will be put to use. See the link to the story below https://www.nairaland.com/2892093/nigerias-first-ever-high-speed-rail Why is telling lies so deeply ingrained in the DNA of Buhari's government. Seems every Minister in the cabinet is completely sold out to this idea of deceiving and hoodwinking Nigerians. A few points: * In Jan 2016, the new Ministers are just trying to settle in and familiarise themselves with their ministries * Govt was still struggling to put together a template for 2016 Budget. After a lot of summersault, including the stealing of the budget, this budget was just signed by President a few weeks ago. So far not a kobo has yet been released for any capital project. * The Abj-Kaduna rail contractor, CECC was just carrying on from previous milestone payments. * Amaechi himself said late last year when he shamelessly went to take a ride in the Markurdi-Port Harcourt rail line completed by GEJ that he did not know a functioning rail system still existed in Nigeria. That is the picture the OP is using in this post. * So what effort exactly did Amaechi as Transport Minister contribute into this project, apart from not vindictively halting it as he did the Maritime University in Bayelsa to spite Jonathan? It is perfectly OK for a new govt to continue with previous policies that worked, after all govt is a continuum. But at least, like Buhari who never fails to commend the political deftness of GEJ in conducting a credible election and conceding defeat to prevent bloodshed, Amaechi should acknowledge credible achievements of previous govt. It will also do this nation a lot of good if the sound agricultural policies and visible achievements recorded under former Agriculture Akinwunmi Adesina, now African Development Bank (AFDB) President are vigorously sustained by new Agric Minister Audu Ogbeh. Buhari fully understood the stellar performance and achievement of Adesina, that is why he lobbied so hard using Atiku on several shuttle missions to South Africa to get Adesina the AFDB position. Right now Audu Ogbeh is expending his energy spewing lies about fertilizer scam that GEJ effectively ended by resorting to e-subsidy and direct allocation to farmers under Adesina's well-articulated programme. Maize disease has also surfaced, something that was previously unheard of. There is no articulated plan of action by Agric Minister to to contain this scourge. |
President Muhammadu Buhari has said that he feels sorry for Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed. Buhari explained further that Mohammed’s job is difficult because he has to explain government’s actions to Nigerians. The president made the comment on Monday, May 30, 2016, while hosting state house correspondents at the Presidential Villa, The Cable reports. “One of the men I pity is Lai Mohammed. Everyday he is on TV explaining our performance or lack of it,” Buhari said. “The ministers sit down day and night to work. Some of them have literarily lost weight because they were sleeping less and eating less (while working on the budget). Luckily our party identified three major items, security, economy and corruption," he added. Lai Mohammed has been frequently criticized on social media for making statements that many consider to be controversial.

Hmmmmm. I'm not sure about collapsing. But I am convinced there is a sinister inner plot in this APC macabre dance known only to Tinubu and his close acolytes. Osibanjo is a Tinubu stooge and lackey. If Buhari should kick the bucket and Osibanjo takes over, then Tinubu will rule Nigeria by proxy in very much the same way he is running Lagos now with Ambode as the putative or visible governor. Simple! |
INTERMAN:Just enough to buy re-charge cards. A result of years of mindless borrowing that was not plowed into economic generating ventures, but rather populist and recurrent like salaries and overheads |
babajeje123:Totally disgusted with the guy. I just don't understand why Buhari would chose to surround himself with with such mediocre an immature aides and ministers like Femi Adesina and Kemi Adeosun. They are making his government look amateurish, unprofessional and uninformed. This is not helped by confounding policy and pronouncement reversals by the President himself. Simple pronouncements like revealing names and amounts of money recovered are reversed in haste barely 48 hours after he made the statement. |
Femi Adesina appears rather childish and very immature. Has no real facts. He is just parroting Buhari's earlier comments today to select senior journalists, that economists are talking over his head and not into his head. And he is laughing about, not realising the gravity of the damaging effect of that comment by the President. Oby's body language exudes total disgust. Rewane tries to coach Femi a bit, but he is clearly out of his depths. |
The hard economic performance statistics of Buhari's government in Rewane's presentation slides are dire and depressing. I missed the first slide of the Economic Snapshot. It was even more troubling. Every economic parameter is trending downward. He said it is not due to low revenue receipts though that has contributed. He says the greatest mistake of the economic policies of this govt and catalyst of current econmic slide are uncertainty, slow decisions, and policy somersaults or reversals
|
Channels TV is holding live debate on Buhari 365 Days. Tune in and watch. As usual Bismarck and Oby are very articulate in thier discussion, while Femi Adesina is rather tentative as usual and unsure of his facts. Adesina is irritated at times when the moderator tries to pin him down on specifics. Please tune in and watch if you have light

Another low quality import from India just like the Ashok and Tata BRT buses that are falling apart, when we have better quality buses from Innoson Motors assembled in Nnewi, Anambra State. How will Nigeria develop when we do not patronise our own product? I weep for Nigeria
