thank you, you've been so helpful. On reddit a lot of consumers were complaining about the notch, how it limits the information you should have access to but can't due to the notch. How do you do about that? Or is there a 3rd party app that can handle all notifications, reply those from chats without always having to swipe down?

The note6pro is a great device and its less than 3months since release. I would go for d latest if i were u, especially considering the price is almost same. however I have heard that the Note 5 has a better battery back up. The Note6pro takes me a whole day+ on normal usage.

good morning, I am confused, I want to get either redmi note 5ai 4gb 64gb, but there is note 6 pro, but development on note 6 pro is almost non existent unlike note 5ai that custom roms and custom kernels are overflowing. Note 6 pro has better camera, which I really like but note 5ai has a lot of gcam ports and other camera ports that can make a lot of difference. Note 6 pro is likelier to get android 9 than note 5ai but with the aid of custom roms, note 5ai will get android q sef. So abeg advice me, I have watched review videos of both phones, and they are too similar except in screen size and camera. So please which will be a better buy for the next three years or so?

Some people are already using custom roms on the note6pro sef even rocking pie already. Gcams are abound too. Join the telegram group. Once kernel sources are released by January development will tripple, but for now there are more than 7 custom roms running smoothly on the 6pro.

Put on everything I have mentioned and toggle d values to ur preference while listening to different songs.

How were you able to unlock your bootloader without a waiting period? I was turned off from rooting my note 6 pro when I was told I will have to wait for days to be granted permission to unlock the bootloader.

I just followed the normal process. Guess I was just lucky. You can try, but remember to back up ur data.

I want to officially apologize to team root & flash for all my campaign against them.

A lot has been happened lately. Let me summarize.

1. I finally unlocked my bootloader, awesome thing is I didn't have to wait a minute.

2. Installed pitch black recovery and flashed a custom ROM Mi globe rom.

This build has the notch notification fix by default , main reason why I flashed coz that notification ish on notched device is a bummer. You just switch a button and voila, its up there. Perfect right?

Guess what, you can also toggle that lock screen notification panel stuff, meaning if you don't want someone playing around your notification tiles on lock screen, you can have it.

3. Good old Viper4android, how can I have root and forsake thee? V4A and the likes are on a league of their own when it comes to audio tweaking.

4. No freaking Ads.

Its easy, you can build it yourself adding what you want & removing what you don't need on the site. I added magisk root coz I felt it would come in handy.

So, I finally got my Rock Zircon earpiece yesterday after 6 weeks of waiting. I had initially gotten a JBM MJ8600 earpiece from Macbeyland some months ago. But the hype around the rock Zircon made it irresistible for me to turn a deaf ear to it's incessant callings. Settling down with the earpiece yesterday eventually, I was quite amazed to discover the JBM, which is just about half the rock Zircon price had a little more bass than the rock Zircon, but less crisp and clear. This came as a surprise due to the fact that I've barely heard anyone talk about the JBM earpiece in this thread. I had initially expected the rock Zircon to have a better low frequency response. But reflecting on the fact that the Rock Zircon isn't reputable for its bass but a well balanced, crisp and clear sound in the first instance, I thought it's still a win for me nevertheless.
I started tinkering with the equaliser settings on my music player while playing different music genres and switching both earpiece in a bid to create a perfect custom equalizer preset that brings out the best from both earpiece at once without having to switch equalizer settings should I decide to switch one earpiece for the other.

At the end, I discovered the winner is actually the Mi Sound Enhancer. The Rock Zircon, by default was unable to produce the perfect and balanced sound I was able to get on the JBM earpiece with the appropriate Mi Sound enhancer settings. While the Sound Enhancer also made the Rock Zircon mind blowing and far clearer and balanced than it was by default.
What I just learnt is that, all one needs is just a quality budget earpiece from any of the ones being frequently mentioned here, and with the appropriate equaliser settings, you should be good to go.

In summary -
JBM MJ8600 - More Bass + A relatively clear sound (no noise cancelation feature)
Rock Zircon - Less Bass + A more crisp, clearer and balanced sound.
Winner - Equalizer settings and Mi Sound Enhancer

Nice one, but there's really no need for this stress. You can achieve the best sounds with the cheapest earpiece with either.
1. No root method- - -Google player + Mi enhancer.

2. Root- - - V4A.

My #250 Samsung earpiece (fake obviously) sounds like I'm in a Glk 4matic while listening to audio. I bet if you hear d sound you go throw away ur zircon

Dude be careful o. I thought you were told that. TA is shop rom. Don't go ahead and end up bricking your phone.

I think what you ought to do is unlock bootloader 1st, flash the original chinese rom before updating. It is only then u can be safe.

And some people will still argue for FG

Well then, I would say your custom rom experience with note 6 pro is very premature, custom ROMs need time to be stable to use as a daily driver. I would personally not recommend custom rom on a Xiaomi phone until you update the stock rom to the next android version. By that time custom ROMs have matured n as that would be the last android version upgrade you would be getting from Xiaomi, it would be okay to start trying custom ROMs after then.

Yea, you are right as kernel source for this particular phone is yet to be released hence even recoveries are still unofficial save for pitch black which can't read internal storage until u 4mat. However, the point I was trying to make is that stock is great and for people feeling like they are missing out on the custom stuffs currently, it's just one issue or the other for now.

In as much we all have our preferences, I think it is misleading to hype MIUI for working as stock rom SHOULD work when you have another Chinese company like Oneplus that is doing similar, sticking to ASOP n adding to AOSP without breaking all the work that Google n other contributors put into the making each version of Android.
Stock rom performance will always be better than custom rom even if the gap is currently shrinking, no one puts custom rom on their phones in the search for stock rom performance so you will have to try again with this your table shaking.
As for gcam that requires root, I can't say anything because I am not into rooting but like everything else in life, it is all about risk vs reward, if you know what you are doing n have realistic expectations, then go for gcam.
Finally as I have said before, Xiaomi releasing 2 to 3 versions of Redmi in a year is just too much imho, if you have the money, just buy Mi series or Mi A series n rest, or if you have thick skin carry on with anything Redmi
By the way, I'm an unfortunate Redmi 5 plus user running a perfectly working AEX v6.1 custom rom

Was talking about my observations with the Note 6 pro. Can't possibly talk about the other variants as i have no first hand experience.

Nope. Just make sure you have good internet connection if you're downloading directly to avoid getting stuck and redownloading. If other wise, get the link and download externally using your browser.

Table Shaking mood activated!

Been on the Note 6 pro official Telegram group for quite some time now and here are my observations.

1. MIUI is awesome albeit some minor limitations which dnt matter much.

2. Custom roms are way overrated as they come with one bug or the other. Just find way to stick with your stock coz flashing every time is not worth it, you never get satisfied.

3. Gcam. Produces amazing shots, but totally not worth it in my opinion as it is as buggy as hell, but if you can find the perfect one for your device, great. Happy searching!

These assertions are totally based on my observations from the Note6pro group, not general assumption.

So to the current user & prospective buyers, just enjoy your phone like the normal Iphone user.

Coming from a former flasher of everything & anything.

Various, ranging from selfie camera not working, to green tint in pics produced using selfie camera, focus haunting & stability issues. Each one must come with one problem or the other & the only feature one really needs on gcam is the night sight, otherwise its totally not worth it.

If your stock cam produces decent images, then there's absolutely no need for gcam coz to me its a scam unless u get a stable one which is most unlikely.

If you want gcam for the Note 6 pro, then be ready to unlock bootloader, flash twrp & camera2api b4 installing.

To me it's not really worth it coz its as buggy as hell, ask the users.

Stock Camera is lit though.

You can get from tech stores near you. Or better still order online. Don't expect same performance as the original battery that came with your pc.

Well for me the MIUI 10.0.5 is sleek and battery is cool for me. Tho I'm on WiFi and not sim data, perhaps reason for the battery making sense.
And yeah I love the full screen gesture, it's a bomb. You won't even miss your iPhone .
The camera is sweet but!! At low light the selfie is below average.

Oh yeah, the speaker is and the headphone, earpiece is dope. Kudos to @ifedith for recommending the Nokia coloud. The bass and noice cancellation is dope!

And for the notch, for me it's B's! But yea, you have the option to simply turn it off. I did that .

Hi house, I recommended Redmi Note 6 pro for my friend and he got it 2 days ago but he's telling me that the phone battery doesn't last and that he noticed that his phone was hot while he was playing music with an earpiece today... Please are users of Redmi Note 6 Pro experiencing such? Though I suggested to him that he should update to the MIUI V10.0.5.0 update notification on his phone that it might fix the battery issues he is having... Nope I haven't experienced any heating issues even with 3g on and music on.

Even on games too.

As for battery, depends on usage, but i average 9.5-11hrs SOT with data on.
Battery takes me the whole day on normal usage.
