The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State has been hit by a wave of intense protests, internal rebellion, and public demonstrations following the fallout of its recently concluded primary elections. From aggrieved high-profile aspirants to grassroots women's groups and youth stakeholders, multiple factions are accusing party leadership of subverting internal democracy, violating the Electoral Act, and attempting to hijack the mandates of duly elected candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections. A breakdown of the unfolding crisis across various constituencies highlights deep fractures within the state's ruling party structure.
In Bassa Local Government Area, a massive crowd of concerned women and widows took to the streets to demand justice over the APC House of Representatives primaries for the Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency. Chanting slogans in support of their preferred candidate, the demonstrators called on APC leaders to respect the true outcome of the vote.
According to the protesters, their candidate, Alhaji Abdullahi Yusuf Incham (popularly known as "Oga Perfect", secured a landslide victory by sweeping 15 out of the 16 federal wards in Bassa where voting peacefully took place.
The women sharply criticized the party’s inability to conduct a uniform, transparent process, pointing out that while Bassa voted orderly, elections were allegedly stalled in neighboring Jos North. Despite this, party officials reportedly went ahead to announce a consensus candidate in the absence of the other aspirants. Warning that this move directly violates Nigeria's Electoral Act, the group appealed to the national leadership to immediately validate Incham's victory to avoid an existential internal crisis.
Simultaneously, a formidable coalition of top Plateau APC aspirants has formally petitioned the party's Election Appeal Committee, demanding the total nullification and rescheduling of the primaries.
Addressing a press conference at Kalwa House in Jos, the high-powered group—which includes Senator Diket Plang, Ambassador Chris Giwa, Hon. Gyang Zi, and Senator I.D. Gyang—alleged widespread irregularities, lack of credibility, and severe procedural violations across senatorial, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly contests.
Speaking on behalf of the petitioners, Senator Diket Plang fiercely condemned the exercise, labeling it a "blackmail of democracy." The group alleged that some results were fabricated and announced without any voting taking place. Furthermore, they claimed that multiple aspirants were subjected to intense pressure to step down without formal agreements, legitimate consensus frameworks, or written documentation.
While reaffirming their ultimate loyalty to the APC, the heavyweights insisted that nullifying the fraudulent exercises is the only way to safeguard the party’s integrity and public confidence moving toward 2027.
In Jos South, the narrative of systemic manipulation continued as concerned APC youths and key stakeholders openly rejected what they characterized as backroom attempts to alter the outcome of the May 20, 2026, House of Assembly primary election.
Spokesperson for the youth alliance, Comrade Andrew Dalyop, issued a stern warning to party administrators during a media briefing in Jos. Dalyop demanded the immediate release of the authentic results, emphasizing that any attempt to substitute the grassroots' will with handpicked alternatives would backfire. "Every single vote cast during the primary must count," Dalyop insisted, calling for absolute transparency.
The most volatile reaction occurred in Jos North Local Government Area, where a massive, angry protest paralyzed major parts of the city. The unrest erupted following leaked reports that the APC House of Assembly election committee was actively planning to deny the mandate of Hon. Adamu Aliyu, the reported winner of the Jos North-North Constituency primaries. Losing patience with the party's internal mechanisms, furious youths stormed the streets in open rebellion. In a dramatic show of rejection, the demonstrators publicly burned APC flags and the party's symbolic brooms, chanting aggressively against imposition and political godfatherism.
The unrest rapidly spread to other strategic flashpoints, including a major demonstration staged at the Angwan Rukuba Junction. Traffic was disrupted as passionate loyalists of another aspirant, Harry Ishaya, blocked the area. The protesters loudly accused party elites of trying to deny the people their rightful mandate, demanding that Ishaya's votes be recognized and upheld.
Major7: The middle belt in question makes the eradication difficult cos they even harbor these terrorists, they know their houses and names but the northern elders aren't ready. Gov. Sule of zamfara said they know their houses and families during an interview. They shouldn't import their madness into every nooks and crannies of the country if they're not ready to put an end to it. God help us all
Hello sir, you actually know which states make up the middle belt?
Everything you said up there refers to the core north.
happney65: Speak for you people in Benue? You people are the most unserious people ever. You people that went to vote for APC in the Govornship. Even after the killings under Buhari
You people heeen.. very funny set of people
I am not talking about Benue, Benue is just one of over 4-5 states in the middle belt, I am talking specifically about Plateau state. The APC has never won presidential elections in plateau state before, and even the one time Plateau voted the APC for governorship was hell, no Plateau indigene want APC anywhere near governorship again.
Oracleee: Still Tinubu won the election there and you have an APC governor. Until y'all join hands to outseat the old demonic man, nothing will improve.
I am always amazed at the outcry and noise everywhere when 3 or 4 people are killed in the South, meanwhile, everyone have completely turned blind eyes to what is happening in the middle belt, like, it's normal to kill 20 people there, no big deal about it, life goes on, no noise, no outcry, nothing!
As I speak to you, there is almost no night that passes without gun duels in the villages of the middle belt between these Islamic terrorists and the villagers, with lives lost every single day, yesterday, it was in Riyom, tomorrow it will be somewhere else, there is no outcry at all, but just touch 2 people down south, all the unions, VIP and everyone will find their voice, you can't teach this.
The demon you overlooked cos it is 'far' from you, is slowly but surely creeping up on you down south, the only thing stopping them from being in Lagos yet is because there is almost no thick bush to hide, but when they find a solution (which they will) expect them in the coming years.
If you don't speak out on the happenings in the middle belt, it's just a matter of time before they are in your house.
FarinJini: Don't believe everything you read on the news. This guy lost the election. The first result that leaked after the election showed that Gagdi won. To counter it, this guys camp fabricated their on result in his favor, used a different returning officer and held a press conference with major media houses to announce their own result and that's why their result went viral. The real returning officer for PKK went to Jos to submit the real results of the election and the one this guy's camp used for the press conference was nowhere to be found.
As I see your status, I knew there was no way you would be objective.
Every single person supporting Gagdi bears a muslim name; it is a pattern. The people of PKK have rejected Gagdi, and this primary says it all. The main elections will reveal the truth.
XY01: You see ehn..we have a defeated mentality. I'm disappointed and surprised by the level of cowardice shown on this thread..
We deserve the kind of leaders we have..
It's crazy! I was looking at the monikers, wondering if they were paid agents or just one person writing down all those things with different monikers, cos it's surprising.
I should not ask a landlord to sort out the light issues he created ke? Isn't that madness?
Omo,we'll go to court, that money he doesn't want to use to pay the community, he will pay it in court, I don't mind spending too.
I hate injustice like mad, I once arrested a Sim card seller at Alaba because I went to buy Sim from her, she registered it and it refused to work for 1 whole week, and she stopped picking up my calls and was even rejecting them, basically blocked my number, and when I used another number to call her, she insulted me.
I went all the way from the island, to the mainland, took police, spent money and arrested the girl for 2 days. She spent 2 days at the police station because of Sim card of 1500, I happily spent over 30k at that time.
I am seriously not understanding the comments up here, are y'all slaves or just plain du#b?
How can you say it isn't within his right to ask his landlord to sort our the power issues?
Will you move into a house without power?
Do you know the significant cut it will take from the yearly rent if a landlord doesn't have power in his house?
How would you say he doesn't have the right?
My ex Landlord, before I moved in, there were a few finishings to do in the house, but after I paid, I became a noise maker for 1 full year cos the man refused to fix any of those things, after I complained for a few months, I simply stopped, as he wasn't answering me anymore, but before then, I dropped him a message saying the exact way he treated me is the exact way I will treat him when the time comes.
After 1 year, he came and sent me renewal papers, I simply replied him not to send me any renewal papers until he fixes every single thing in the house. He didn't respond for a month, then came back saying he will give me quit notice, I just called my lawyer friend and told him to write me a letter to the landlord with his chambers letterhead, and I was seriously willing to go to court, I forwarded it to the landlord, next week, I was receiving calls from different artisans asking about my availability so they can come and fix all the things he was meant to fix.
John Tongshinen Gozhak, an APC governorship aspirant who contested the Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency primaries against Honorable Yusuf Gagdi, has reacted to the recent reversal of the election results. Gozhak, who was initially declared the winner, took to Facebook to address the situation, sharing his perspective alongside a Martin Luther King quote.
When the party returning officer, Monday Daspan, announced the results yesterday, and later said he did not declare the winner but only announced the outcome of the primaries, I knew something was going to happen.
There were rumours in Jos yesterday that Gagdi has reached out to Nentawe, whom he brought to the limelight, so between yesterday and today, everything changed.
The All Progressives Congress has reversed the outcome of its Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam House of Representatives primary election in Plateau State, declaring incumbent lawmaker Yusuf Gagdi the winner and disowning an earlier result naming John Tongshinen the victor.
The reversal was announced on Monday at the APC state Secretariat in Jos by the Chairman of the APC Plateau State Primaries Electoral Committee, Stella Okotete, who said the first declaration was unauthorised.
Okotete dismissed earlier results announced in the Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam House of Representatives primary election, describing them as unauthorised.
The committee chairman also declared Yusuf Gagdi the winner of the primary election.
She clarified that only the officially appointed returning officer had the mandate to announce results.
Only the officially appointed returning officer, Nandom Kura, has the constitutional authority to declare the results of the primary election,” Okotete stated
She stressed, “That any prior announcements made outside this mandate were invalid and should be disregarded.”
Following that clarification, Kura “officially declared Yusuf Gagdi as the winner of the APC primary election for the PKK federal constituency, held on Saturday.”
Our Correspondent reports that the earlier result, announced on Sunday at the constituency headquarters in Pankshin by one Monday Daspan, had declared Tongshinen the winner with 29,968 votes to Gagdi’s 5,849 votes.
“Declaring the result at the constituency headquarters in Pankshin on Sunday, the party returning officer, Monday Daspan, said Dr John Tongshinen scored 29,968 votes, while polled 5,849 votes,” the initial announcement stated.
“By the powers conferred on me as the chairman of this committee, I hereby declare Dr John Tongshinen as the winner of the primaries for Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency based on the records available to me,” Daspan said. He added that “the primaries were observed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), alongside security personnel.”
Our Correspondent reports that Gagdi, who is currently the Chairman of the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Navy, had rejected the earlier declaration.
He insisted the process was conducted across all 36 wards and backed it with evidence.
Addressing journalists at his residence in Jos on Monday after he was declared the authentic winner of the election, Gagdi insisted that the process was duly conducted across all 36 electoral wards, with evidence including accreditation records, videos, and photographs to support the credibility of the exercise.
He dismissed claims of multiple results, stating he was “only aware of two announcements, one of which has now been confirmed as illegitimate.”
Gagdi also alleged that the earlier declaration attributed to “Daspan Ishaya was fraudulent, noting that the individual was not appointed by the electoral committee and therefore lacked the authority to announce results.”
“The constitution and guidelines of the party clearly vest the power to appoint election officials in the electoral committee,” he said. “Any declaration outside that authority is null and void.”
He questioned the credibility of the unauthorised announcement, “alleging inconsistencies in the individual’s role during the election process.”
The new declaration sparked celebrations in parts of the constituency. “Our Correspondent reports that Jubilation broke out immediately in some parts of Kanam and Pankshin immediately after the recent results were announced.”
The PKK seat is one of the closely watched contests in Plateau ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The lawmaker representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Yusuf Gagdi, has failed to secure the All Progressives Congress ticket to return to the National Assembly for a third term.
Gagdi lost to John Tongshinen, who polled a total of 29,968 votes in the directprimary election to defeat Gagdi, who scored 5,849 votes.
Declaring the result at the constituency headquarters in Pankshin on Sunday, the party returning officer, Monday Daspan, said Dr John Tongshinen scored 29,968 votes, while polled 5,849 votes.
“By the powers conferred on me as the chairman of this committee, I hereby declare Dr John Tongshinen as the winner of the primaries for Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency based on the records available to me,” he said.
Daspan explained that the primaries were observed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), alongside security personnel.
Gagdi is currently the Chairman of the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Navy.
The lawmaker lost the primary election of his party conducted across the three local government areas (LGAs) that make up his constituency.
It will be recalled that the APC lawmaker was at loggerheads with various groups and political stakeholders who claim he has breached a previous commitment.
Opponents allege that Gagdi had initially agreed to serve only two terms to allow for a power-shift rotation within the constituency. Having already completed his second term, his decision to seek re-election for a third has triggered significant backlash.
Federal lawmaker, Right Honorable Yusuf Gagdi, representing the Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency, has once again sparked a conversation online after being spotted riding on a commercial motorcycle, popularly known as an Okada.
The viral image, which surfaced recently, shows the legislator dressed in traditional white attire, navigating through his constituency.
The APC lawmaker is currently at loggerheads with various groups and political stakeholders who claim he has breached a previous commitment.

Political Parties Are The Biggest Reason Nigeria Cannot Get Better
Nigeria’s political parties are the biggest reason why the country cannot truly get better. They have turned democracy into a business investment instead of a system for public service. The outrageous cost of nomination forms has made it almost impossible for honest and competent Nigerians to participate in leadership unless they are backed by godfathers or massive wealth.
The reality is simple: there is no way a politician who spends ₦100 million on a presidential form will enter office without the intention of recovering that money.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) sold its presidential nomination form for about ₦100 million. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) fixed its own at around ₦40 million, while the Action Democratic Party (ADP) reportedly charged ₦90 million for its presidential form. Governorship forms in many parties also cost tens of millions of naira.
Now let us do the maths.
If the Nigerian president officially earns around ₦1.7 million monthly, then over 48 months — which is four years in office — the total comes to:
1.7 million X 48 = 81.6 million naira
That means the president’s entire four-year official salary would be about ₦81.6 million.
So how does someone buy a presidential nomination form for ₦90 million or ₦100 million when the total official salary for four years in office does not even cover the cost of the form?
What exactly are Nigerians expected to believe?
No sensible businessman invests ₦100 million into a venture knowing fully well that the official return is less than the investment. It simply does not happen. Politics in Nigeria has become an investment scheme, and public office has become the return on investment.
This is why corruption remains deeply rooted in the system. Before elections even begin, politicians are already financially trapped. After winning office, the pressure to recover campaign expenses, settle sponsors, reward political allies, and prepare for the next election begins immediately. The result is inflated contracts, looting of public funds, abandoned projects, and endless suffering for ordinary Nigerians.
Political parties are directly responsible for creating this toxic system. They have commercialized leadership and turned elections into auctions for the highest bidder. Instead of encouraging competence, ideas, patriotism, and service, they reward wealth, political connections, and financial power.
An honest teacher, professor, doctor, activist, or young reformer cannot afford ₦40 million or ₦100 million forms. Even successful professionals would struggle to justify such reckless spending. So the system naturally filters out genuine people and favors those who already see politics as a money-making enterprise.
And then Nigerians act surprised when politicians steal.
The harsh truth is that political parties are one of the biggest obstacles to Nigeria’s progress. By making politics ridiculously expensive, they have built a system that practically encourages corruption before anyone even enters office. A country cannot improve when leadership positions are sold to the highest bidder.
Until political parties stop treating nomination forms like a business venture, Nigeria will continue producing leaders who see public office not as service to the people, but as an opportunity to recover investments and make profit.
Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) News has released an interview with local journalist Masara Kim Usman, who was present during a harrowing gunmen assault on a mass burial in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area. The attack, which occurred on May 6, turned a solemn funeral into another scene of bloodshed, highlighting the persistent insecurity plaguing Christian communities in Nigeria’s Middle Belt region.
In the interview, Kim, a reporter for Truth Nigeria and longtime chronicler of violence in Plateau State, described the chaos firsthand. He recounted how attackers emerged from surrounding hills and opened fire on mourners who had gathered in the Fan District (also referred to as Ndang village) to bury seven victims killed in a prior overnight raid on May 5. According to Kim, the assailants targeted the crowd as graves were being dug, with one local defender shot and killed instantly while trying to shield civilians. “I witnessed a man being shot right before me,” Kim told CBN, adding that the situation escalated rapidly amid reports of simultaneous attacks on multiple nearby communities.
The initial May 5 attack in the area, including the Hwol Gassa community, left at least two people dead and two injured, according to Kim’s earlier reporting. The mass burial the following day was intended as a hurried farewell for those victims—including reports of an entire family among the deceased—but was disrupted by the fresh violence. Eyewitness videos circulating online show panicked mourners fleeing the site, with some footage capturing open fields and disturbed burial grounds under overcast skies.
edoncast: I am about getting my first car too but this your write-up look like incantation to me
Okay, let me help him.
Most cars come with options. Let's use the iPhone as an example. Some come as iPhone 15, they may not have 5g, while some are iPhone 15 pro, and they may have 5g, others may be iPhone 15 pro max, which may come with 5g, E-Sim, and probably the highest memory size.
Cars too are similar, they produce the same car but with different features, some have more, some have less.
Generally, leather seats make cars look more luxurious, so some manufacturers put that only in the full option vehicles, while the lesser ones have fabric seats. Some vehicles have FM radio control, side mirror controls, etc, on the steering, while others don't, but it's the same vehicle, the same year, the same model, but different trims.
helinues: Time never reach. We want the opposition to keep on saying this government hasn't done a thing

A viral video has sparked intense debate across social media after a young Fulani man captured his ordeal at a Lagos motor park, where he was allegedly denied travel because fellow passengers refused to board a vehicle with him.
The man, who identified himself as a traveler heading to Calabar, shared the clip after being turned away from two different transport companies. In the video, he explains that after successfully paying his fare in the early hours of the morning, he was informed that his journey could not proceed. "Just because I am Fulani, the passengers said they are not going to travel with a 'Fulani Herdsman'. They made the company refund my money," he said, visibly distressed. "We Fulani are in trouble in this world."
The traveler detailed his attempts to find passage, noting he first visited the GUO Transport park, where he was told they were not heading to Calabar. He then proceeded to GIGM (God is Good Motors), where he secured a ticket. However, the situation escalated when other passengers reportedly staged a protest, citing security concerns and ethnic profiling related to the ongoing national tensions regarding "herdsmen."
The transport company ultimately issued a refund, citing the refusal of the other commuters to share the bus with him.
Success truly has many friends. Obafemi wey just go US less than 10 years ago don become Nigerian American, meanwhile, people dey wey don spend 20 years dem never see greencard
