PoliticsPlateau State, And The Truth Behind The Narratives by Cutezt(op): 1:19pm On Jun 16, 2025
So, people down south in Nigeria keep spreading all this wrong info about Plateau State. They’re saying things like the locals are getting kicked out, their lands are being renamed, and Hausa-Fulani folks are taking over everything. But, I mean, that’s just not what’s happening. Plateau is actually a cool, laid-back state with good vibes, tasty food, and a nightlife that’s honestly pretty fun. It’s nothing like the wild mess you hear about in the south. Yeah, there’s some trouble, but it’s way out in the countryside, not in the cities. And all that talk about land being given away for Ruga settlements? Total nonsense. The locals here are super protective of their land, they’ve been standing their ground for years. Like, take the Berom people, they’ve been pushing back against the Fulani forever. And when they heard Jaiz Bank, this Islamic bank, might fund fixing up Terminus Market, they were like, “No chance!” This is all about setting the record straight and shutting down the dumb rumors.

The Middle Belt, Plateau State, and the Truth Behind the Narratives

Nestled in the heart of Nigeria, the Middle Belt is a region of extraordinary diversity, cultural richness, and natural beauty. Stretching across central Nigeria, it serves as a geographical and cultural bridge between the predominantly Muslim north and the largely Christian south. This region, encompassing states like Plateau, Benue, Nasarawa, and Taraba, is known for its fertile lands, rolling hills, and vibrant communities. Among these states, Plateau stands out as a beacon of tranquility, cultural harmony, and economic potential, despite the misinformation and false narratives peddled by some media outlets and individuals, particularly from southern Nigeria. These narratives paint a distorted picture of insecurity, forced resettlement, and land renaming, which could not be further from the truth. This piece aims to set the record straight, celebrating Plateau’s unique character while debunking the myths that threaten to tarnish its image.

At the heart of the Middle Belt lies Plateau State, with its capital, Jos, serving as a hub of culture, commerce, and nightlife. Plateau is a land of breathtaking landscapes and agricultural richness, its fertile soils yielding an abundance of crops like Irish potatoes, tomatoes, strawberries, yams, and millet. This agricultural prowess has earned it a reputation as one of Nigeria’s key food baskets, with bustling markets overflowing with fresh produce. Jos, in particular, is a city alive with energy; its food scene is a delight, offering local delicacies like gwote (a vegetable dish) and kunu (a millet-based drink) alongside a variety of cosmopolitan options. The nightlife is equally captivating, with music venues, clubs, and cultural festivals lighting up the evenings, creating a sense of joy and community.

Unlike the chaotic, overcrowded cities of southern Nigeria, such as Lagos or Port Harcourt, Jos offers a refreshing contrast. Life here is quieter, safer, and easier to live in, with a cool climate, affordable living costs, and a well-planned urban layout. Residents often describe Plateau as a haven of peace, free from the gridlock and infrastructure challenges that plague the south. This serene environment, coupled with its natural beauty and economic opportunities, makes Plateau a special place, distinct from the hustle and bustle of southern Nigeria.

Debunking the False Narratives: Security and Land Myths

Despite its many strengths, Plateau State has been unfairly targeted by misinformation, especially from southern media and individuals who exaggerate the state’s security challenges. These false narratives claim that Plateau is a hotbed of violence, with locals being resettled, their lands renamed, and territories occupied by Hausa-Fulani groups. Such stories are not only inaccurate but also divisive, aimed at sowing fear and mistrust.
The truth is that Plateau State, particularly Jos, is quite safe and stable. While there have been incidents of violence, these are mostly confined to the outskirts and rural areas, and despite that, the locals don't automatically start running, selling or leaving their burnt houses/lands, far from that. These clashes, though unfortunate, are isolated and do not reflect the overall security situation in the state. Urban centers like Jos remain peaceful, with residents going about their daily lives without fear.

One of the most persistent lies is that locals are being resettled and their lands renamed or allocated to Hausa-Fulani settlers, often tied to the so-called Ruga scheme. This is categorically false. No part of Plateau has been designated for Ruga or any form of occupation by Hausa-Fulani groups. The Ruga initiative, a federal proposal to create settlements for pastoralists, was met with fierce resistance from Plateau’s people and government, and it was never implemented in the state. Claims of land renaming or forced displacement are baseless fabrications, unsupported by evidence and refuted by the lived reality of Plateau’s diverse ethnic groups, who remain firmly in control of their ancestral territories.

The locals of Plateau State are deeply attached to their lands, viewing them as a sacred inheritance tied to their identity and survival. For over two decades, indigenous tribes like the Berom have stood resolute in defending their territories against perceived encroachments, particularly from Fulani pastoralists. This struggle dates back to tensions in the early 2000s, including the 2001 Jos crisis, which was sparked by disputes over political representation and indigene rights. The Berom, one of the state’s largest ethnic groups, have been especially vigilant, often referring to Jos as their “Jerusalem” to underscore its cultural and spiritual significance.

This defense is not driven by aggression but by a legitimate desire to protect their heritage and livelihoods. The Berom and other groups, such as the Anaguta and Afizere, have consistently resisted pressures, whether from grazing disputes or political maneuvers, that threaten their control over their lands. Their efforts have ensured that Plateau remains a stronghold of indigenous culture and autonomy, countering any narrative of external domination.

A striking example of this vigilance came with the proposal to rebuild the famous Terminus Market in Jos. When it was revealed that Jaiz Bank, an Islamic financial institution, would sponsor the project, the locals rejected it outright. For many in Plateau, particularly the predominantly Christian indigenous communities, the involvement of an Islamic bank in a major public project raised concerns about external influence over their economic and cultural space. Protective of their sovereignty, they opposed the plan, leading to its suspension. This incident reflects not prejudice but a deep commitment to maintaining local control, rooted in a history of safeguarding their identity against outside pressures.

Setting the Record Straight

The misinformation about Plateau State, whether about security, resettlement, or land occupation, often stems from ignorance or deliberate attempts to exploit ethnic and religious divides. These false narratives paint a bad picture of a state that is, in reality, a model of resilience and harmony. Plateau is not a land of chaos but a land of peace, prosperity, and pride. Its cities bustle with life, its farmlands thrive, and its people are united in preserving their way of life.

Violence, where it occurs, is limited to the outskirts and does not define the state. No land has been allocated for Ruga or Hausa-Fulani occupation, and the renaming of villages is a myth. The rejection of the Jaiz Bank project underscores the locals’ dedication to their values, not intolerance. It’s time to stop the false narratives and the distorted portrayals by ignorant voices, particularly from southern Nigeria. Plateau State deserves to be seen for what it truly is: a fruitful, vibrant, and safe haven, a shining example of Nigeria’s potential for peace and progress. Let’s celebrate it, not slander it.

Don't mind him, dishing out nonsensical false statements from somewhere in the south, meanwhile, he has never spent 1 week in the Middle Belt. Pleateu people will gladly give their lives to stop Fulani from occupying their lands, that is no news for over 2 decades now, that is how much they value their land. People who rejected the rebuilding of Terminus market because the sponsoring bank is an Islamic bank, and this one is saying nonsense.

This is bad. To think just last night, I saw a Benue links bus fully loaded with passengers headed to Makurdi around 11pm. They stopped over to refuel and I engaged the driver in conversation.

I asked him if he wasn't aware of what Fulani are doing on the lafia - Makurdi road. He was dismissive. I wished him luck and drove off.

Mind you, Yelwata is on a major federal highway. The following major military formations are all less than 35 minutes drive. to Yelwata. Nigerian army 72 BN Makurdi, Nigerian air force tactical air command, and others within lafia. Yet the military has failed to go after these attackers who have lodged in the forests of Nasarawa state and attack from there.

President Tinubu will be in lafia this week to commission projects. Yelwata is a short 25 minutes drive from Lafia. Will he be bothered to visit?

This same kind of thing happened in Plateau state and today over 64 communities in Plateau state have been resettled and renamed by Fulani.

The same government that can't send helicopters to trace the location of these Fulani killers was quick to send policemen and helicopters to dislodge people who protested in Makurdi today.

The Fulani don't hide. They are on the banks of River Benue on the Nasarawa side. That's where they cross from to come and kill in Benue. Our security agencies are simply incapable of doing their jobs.
But who is giving you guys this misinformation about Plateau state? name 2 communities out of the 60 that have been resettled and renamed by Fulani or stop dishing out nonsense, false information from your room.

Stop writing nonsense, Fulani/Hausa people occupy less than 5% of Plateau State. If there is any people who have vehemently rejected anything Hausa/Fulani occupying their lands for more than 2 decades now, its Plateau In fact, there is far more Hausa/Fulani occupied areas in just 1 local government in Kaduna than the entire Plateau State combined. The current Plateau governor will never try that nonsense, even Lalong could not try that nonsense. Your narrow perspective assumes anyone criticizing this devilish regime is from the East? Visit the Middle Belt and see the reality for yourself. Nigeria is far larger than the South West, which is just a small part of the country. As for me, I'm doing well despite Tinubu's policies, which have actually made business more difficult. Ideally, I will vote for the candidate, irrespective of the party, but with recent trends, it seems like there is no likeable person in that party at all. Even if you were liked before, the moment you join that party, you begin saying and doing things that will insult the people and absolutely make them turn against you.

I really wonder if the people voting for that evil party has a functioning brain.

Chelsea FC once struggled to get sponsors (which would have offset some of their expenses, hence their worth), that was why the club invested in young players with the hope of future gain in the transfer market.
But for now, Cole Palmer seems to be the only player who could generate the needed income via transfer.

N.B
Trophies don't bring the needed income, Transfer Market does.
I don't think they struggled to get sponsors, any sensible company will jump at the opportunity to have their name on Chelsea's kit, they instead struggled to find a sponsor that was ready to match their sponsorship monetary demands.

Go to any big store, Shoprite or game has it. It has a sour smell, smells like old palm wine, just put it in a spray bottle or something and spray on your head.

It works perfectly to manage all types of dandruff, it even did wonders on one of my old dogs who had dandruff and her hair was falling, after 2 weeks, all hair grew back.

PropertiesJudge This Diecey Tenancy Disagreement Please. by Cutezt(op):
So I used to live in a mini flat somewhere in Lagos, but the space was becoming increasingly smaller for me, and I needed a bigger space because I work from home and needed a bigger space, plus I wanted to plan my life better and possibly start a family soon. So the next flat after mine is a 2-bed, and the tenant there was almost never around; she could go an entire year without spending a night there, but her property is there, and I really wanted a bigger space.

so after a year of staying in the house, i asked the Landlord to give me that flat when the woman finally moves, he assured me she was moving the next year, but she did not move, i messaged him severally but it was out of his control as the woman was not moving, and you know how hectic it is finding a house you like in Lagos, so i had no choice than to renew the rent for my mini flat that year. After renewal, i asked renewed my interest in the 2 bed, hoping the woman would move the next year, the Landlord also assured me she was moving as she has defaulted on her rent, so i was happy to wait, but alas, the woman still did not move, and this time, i was notified just a few weeks to the expiration of my mini flat rent, it was impossibly to start looking for a new house at such short notice, so i had no choice than to put my plans on hold for another year and renew the rent, tho was very sad about it. Now in between those periods, my cousin who stays in Uyo comes to spend a few days with me in Lagos anytime work brings him to Lagos, but that has not always been convenient for me because my fiance is sometimes at my place, and since its just a room an d parlor, it wasn't really very convenient for all of us, so he had to time his coming with my fiance's stay, which is most times not in his control.

Now, back to my story, after I renewed that last rent, I decided to plan better and not renew the rent for that house if the woman in the next flat does not move. During that period, i found out that the man i have known as the Landlord of the house all this while was not he main owner of the house, he was just managing it for his sister who stays abroad, and since he too has a lot of properties, he decided to give out that house to some property managers to handle. On the day of the introduction to the new Property manager, i again met the Landlord and the property manager to renew my interest just in case the woman moves, this time, the property manager followed up with the woman and asked if she had plans on renewing, and she answered in the affirmative, when i got the reply, i started planning on moving houses, but in between, the rents was increased, and i guess that made the woman change her mind on renewing and decided to move out. Now, on the day of her move, she did not notify anyone. I just saw a truck moving things away from the flat, so I reached out to the property manager to ask if she decided to move, and he said she hasn't, so I told him she is actually moving currently. He promised to come check the place out and confirm from her, which he did after some days and she confirmed she was moving, i was happy because i did not exactly want to leave the house as the Landlord has been a very good man, plus, i have built a life in the area and did not want to go far as i will still frequent the area. The property manager asked me to write a letter indicating interest in the 2 bed, i did immediately and he asked me to pay the next day which i was planning to do, only for me to wake up the next morning with a message from him saying the Landlady has declined my request because someone asked for the property before me. I was shocked because it was not even possible, i asked for that house a year after i moved in as it was a brand new house, so it was not even a possibility, i reached out to the Landlord and complained, he said he was going to do something about it, i also reached out to the Landlady to vent my anger, she apologized and promised to sort it out the next week. The next day, the property manager reached out to me to ask if i was still interested, to which i confirmed, he asked when i was making payments, i said immediately, i did not want to take chances this time and asked him to send the company account, but after about an hour, he texted again to say i should not worry about the house again, i was pissed and asked him to never call me concerning that property again. This time, I embraced my fate and planned on moving. When i reached out to my cousin to update him that i will be going elsewhere, a bit farther than my current location which ic loser to his company's lagos branch, he was sad but came up with the idea of renewing the rent still, since he will becoming occasionally, to which i agreed and even decided to pay half of the rent since i was sure i was going to be sleeping there on some days too.

So when i finally moved, i reached out to the property manager to renew my rent and he started accusing me of wanting to sublet the apartment because someone in the house told him i move already. to give a back story, the 2 bed was given to someone who stayed in the same house too, but was close to the Landlady's mum before she passed, so i was denied the apartment not because i came late, but because of background politics and favouritism. I told him i was not moving and only went for a bigger space since he and his madam decided to play background politics and be clearly unfair to me, however, some of my properties are still there and i will be occasionally sleeping there alongside my cousin who everyone in the house has seen at one point or another sleep over. He refused and said the landlady called him for the same issue. I blasted him and told him to ask in the house if they did not know my cousin. He said if my cousin wanted to stay there, he must pay as a new tenant, then i replied it was illegal because it was my rent and he cant be paying to enter a house that already has a valid tenancy, he refused to collect the payment and so i asked him to serve me a quit notice and give me time to find an apartment close by, else, i will be happy to renew. He refused, saying he can only accept 6 months payment and then i will be served a quit notice immediately, i simply told him it was not possible, he either serves me the notice now and gives me 6 months to move, or he collects 1 year and does whatever he wants to do after that. He said his decision was the 6-month payment, and I replied with my own decision, which is a 1-year payment or an immediate quit notice and 6 months.

Now my question is, after everything that played out, am I in the wrong?

Note that my rent will be expiring in 2 days time.

The man gave her 16 missed calls one night while she was at my place. After the whole thing taya me, that was when I sent her some of her chats to show her say she no wise. That was when she started running all around the country calling everyone she knows to beg me, but coupled with the many other red flags I saw in her, I won't try it even if she comes with a hundred million naira gift for whoever married her. Nahh, that lady can hardly be tamed, except you go beat am taya and pray she doesn't kill you, there will only be peace if you become a blind husband. Her anger is the worst I have ever seen in all the women I have dated, she is the first ever lady that has put her hand on me, The man on the other hand looks like someone who begged her to be with him. My friend's wife told me that before they got married, she had never posted the mans pic on any of her social media accounts which his unlike her as my face was all over her social media while we dated, plus, after the marriage too, she never for once posted his picture, the only one she did was a video of her trad. Even her wedding pic was not posted anywhere, even by the guests. She got married without her church's approval too. It was a low-key wedding, no church wedding, just court and trad under closed door.

We had issues one night and she went to knock on the next flat after mine, saying she couldn't sleep in the same house with me, I was so embarrassed, my neighbor has to ask her what happened, after sheexplained, he asked her what state was she from, she told him, he was from the same state too and he said he understood how strong hearted their women can be, but she should never make the mistake of trying to get physical with a man. lets I forget, she is half caste too, so quite pretty. from looking at her and the husband, even you will conclude there is no way she settled for that type of a man. everyone who knew her was shocked, someone even asked me if it was a skit or she is now an actress.

1. She got married without her father's permission, this is someone who has been taking care of her since she was a baby, sent her to the best schools, until she moved over to the mainland for uni. In fact, she removed his name from her IV, man never attended the wedding as the man sef na tough man.

2. The man she got married to is the exact opposite of everything she stood for in a man. Not good looking, round, very dark, and to top it all, she wasn't tall, probably around 5.4, but she was taller than the husband, plus, he wasn't rich too, so the marriage na mystery.

In summary, I felt happy that she finally got married to someone she can control, but I felt sad for the man cos he will be the wife in the marriage, without a doubt.

I dodged a bullet.

Back in 2016, I know of a guy who has never left the shores of Nigeria before, but was given this same Shenghen visa for Germany. He was a missionary with YWAM, today, he is still touring the world to teach but primarily lives in Germany.

There are no indigenous Hausa or even Fulani in Jos; they all migrated just like every other non indigenous tribe on the Plateau.

There's a difference between the MAF and the MAP sensor.
The MAP sensor is on the ejector mouth (Throttle body)

Just to add, did you work on the engine, was the timing set properly?
All of these can cause this issue.

However, the rockerarm is still showing as a current error code which is the raising sensor.
checked both. The car's sound changes when you disconnect any of them. When I get that time sha, I will focus on the car and fix it. E be like wetin go collect person money for this Tinubu era.

Where is your location?
I know the map sensor also causes this issue too. check the socket of the map sensor to be sure its fixed properly.
My location is Ajah, Lagos. The socket should be working fine, cos when I turned on the car and removed the socket, the sound changed and the car went off, signaling it still works.

The raising sensor is right behind the engine bay, I just goggled it now...it wont make your car rev high.

You can also remove the battery terminal for like 5mins and reconnect and check again.
Yeah, that has been changed, yet problem persists, about battery removal, I even recently gave my neighbor my battery when his went flat, so if that was the solution, it would have stopped by the time the battery was brought back. Thanks sir.

Come to iyana school along LASU IBA road early in the morning around 5:30am - 6am, to know if lagos is safe
I was robbed at gun point at first gate around 8pm. The hotel I lodged too was infiltrated by thieves in the night, good thing they didn't come to my room.

That was the first day I heard of thieves in a hotel, I immediately packed my things and ran away from that place. I can not stay around Ojo/Iba even rent free.

I can not count the number of dead bodies beside the road that I have seen in Lagos, and the scary thing is that people are not worried about the corpse, they keep on with their daily business like it's nothing. I have seen 3 different corpses around General paint Ajah on one single Sunday.

I entered a bus and someone was dropping around Nero bus stop sangotedo, as the bus parked, I was the second person sitted in the first row, the first passenger didn't come down to allow for more space for the passenger to alight, so I decided to come down instead. As I was jumping down from the bus without looking, na on top dead body I land o, the driver parked just beside a dead body, basically in front of a hotel, people were transacting business there like it's nothing. I quickly jumped away.

In December, a dead body was even smelling around Malete, left there for long, this February, a dead body was left around Sapphire gardens in this same Lagos, and that's me that don't move around that much o. I come from Jos, and I've seen a lot of crises, but you can hardly ever see corpses on the road, in fact, I have never seen any on a normal day, except when there is unrest, but you see lagos? Na normal thing there.

check and clean the MAP sensor around the throttle body.
Remove the battery terminal for 5mins and reinsert then try again if it gets better.

Another cause of the issue can be a faulty throttle body or raising sensor.
The raising sensor is behind the engine, on the left side.

You can also scan and share the codes here.
The raising sensor I'm guessing is the same as the VTC solenoid. I have gone as far as changing it, problem persisted, my former mechanic removed that of another accord there and tested it on mine, same problem, so the VTC solenoid is not the problem, the MAP sensor too works fine when I tested it. I shared a screenshot of the codes I got from an obd 2 scanner above, but I'm hoping to go for a comprehensive scan soon.

Omo. Its either your injector mouth has malfunctioned or a fuse relating to injector mouth/knock sensor ,has malfunctioned or the brain box has sparked and burnt ..your car is on linp mode. Limp mode comes from a malfunction in gear performance or engine performance. Auch as shorting oil, hesiststion gbim loud force, gear oil contamination, shortage, leak,or generally your ecu is bad. Try to get another ecu and test,if after test same result. Alaye, your engine don sapa be that. Forget obd scanner. Obd scanner codes are limited and reappear afyer a few mileage.... in my own case in 2021,my evil spirit engine oil dried out completely and i was not aware ,as i was high most times. The gear rpm ddnt exceed 2900rpm till i changed the knock sensors,we did every, brought gear down, serviced changed fibre, clutch, etc still problem wasn't solved. Till knock sensors were the culprit i sold it after a month.of cos i fixed the erros and changed the sensors but i didnt want honda any longer. Honda fumbled..

I had this same issue with my Accord V6 J30A5 engine. I solved mine by unplugging, cleaning, and plugging back the TPS sensor. Mine was under the wiper towards the left of the engine bay when you stand facing it.
Thank you very much, I hope it's really the TPS sensor, but I'll get both the TPS sensor and Knock sensor changed before I go into ECU.

1st advice Change mechanic
2nd advice get a professional
3rd a professional won't collect a million box
4th why this so many fault codes on your vehicle. Clear codes drive for about 4-5km and rescan and see which ones come back
The mechanic part is done already. I have told him he is clueless when I asked him if he knows the VVT solenoid and he didn't, when I showed him picture, he said that was not the name he knew it as, that it was called 'Raising', He also doesn't know the Knock sensor, I just told him he can't see me again.

The problem is that its difficult to find a mechanic who knows his onions on the island here, I'll have to travel to the mainland, and I don't always have the time to go to the mainland as it usually takes the full day to repair and get back.

The rocker arm code was the only one there before, I was driving about 2 weeks ago one Sunday when I just heard a sound, I opened the bonnet and saw a belt around the compressor area has cut, that was when all those codes came up.

100 percent sure. Its the knock sensor. Maybe bank 1 or bank 2. Also check yoir trans oil if its guaged while gear is on D and handbrake or legbrake on. But im 100% sure its from a bad knock sensor. Just youtube it. Bad knock sensor symptoms
Okay chief, I'll have it changed and see the result. Right now, it takes a second or two before it accelerates, I no longer drive it.
