@ OP, i think bringing such issue to social forum worsens the whole issue. I suggest you ask your wife to be what is obtainable in their custom. If after that, i guess you will know what to do. |

My good people/intending corpers, i have been following the NYSC thread since the inception of batch B thread. I love the discussion so far and have decided to join in cos a an intending corper hoping (by the Grace of God) to be among the batch C corpers. I will like to know who this Psoto is? Have been hearing much about her and would like to know what makes her so relevant in this thread. |
This question would have been relevant if we actually had a president. So, till we have a president before i can answer such! ![]() |
And the drama continues! I hope something good comes out of this hearing. |
LAGOS — The House of Representatives Committee on Ethics investigating the $3 million cash for clearance scam involving Rep. Farouk Lawan and business mogul, Mr Femi Otedola, has been directed to reverse the decision to hold its hearings in secret. The directive from the House leadership, weekend, came as it emerged that the Ethics Committee is to invite the Director General of the State Security Service, SSS, to shed light on the scam. The decision of the ethics committee to hold its sittings in camera came as a major reversal to the transparency and accountability profile that the Speaker Aminu Tambuwal-led leadership had itself sought to portray in its actions. The ethics committee which is investigating the alleged bribe offered by Otedola to Lawan to clear his name from the list of indicted beneficiaries of the administration’s subsidy regime got enmeshed in controversy last Tuesday after Otedola insisted that he must be heard in public and not in secret as the committee wanted. Following the refusal of Otedola to submit to the secret hearing, Chairman of the House Committee on Ethics, Rep. Musa Gambo had described Otedola as “stupid,” saying the businessman abused the committee members in the short period he was with them in the secret session last Tuesday. Otedola responded the following day, denying that he abused the committee members, insisting that he acted in decorum. The ethics committee insistence on hearing Otedola in secret, itself, raised controversy in the House last Thursday as some members insisted that the conduct of the ethics committee violated their privileges as it sought to portray the House in a negative image. A member of the House from Kaduna State, Simon Arabo, had at that sitting, in seeking to condemn the action of the committee on ethics in bringing the House into disrepute said: “What will it cost the committee if Otedola testifies in the open? There is nowhere in the House rules that says that Otedola must be heard in secret.” House sources disclosed that in a bid to reverse the negative impressions brought by the ethics committee, the House leadership, weekend, directed the committee to reverse its decision and hold its sessions in public. Sources disclosed last night that the Chief Whip of the House, Isiaka Bawa, had conveyed the decision to the committee. Similarly, the Director-General of the SSS, Mr. Ita Ekpeyong, is to be invited to brief the Ethics Committee on the Farouk issue. The SSS reportedly issued the $620,000 allegedly offered by Otedola to Lawan as bribe money. Lawan has said the money received by him was collected as evidence of the pressure from the oil marketers, while Otedola said that it was marked money to show the dishonesty of the ad-hoc committee. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/07/3m-bribe-house-makes-u-turn-to-give-otedola-open-hearing |
Reference: I have very little regards for religion but I have very high regards for rules. And am not hypocritical about things. Nigerians have very scant regards for rules from the top to the bottom in every phase of life. If those students has the rules in black and white and signed up for them at matric. Then they have no case. There is no organisation that does not have rules and standards and most are not open to debate. Continue to wear danshiki to work at the bank and eventually you will be treated like a child. There are organisations that sack for smoking, eating out of place and not wearing seat belts when driving through the gates. The unions are aware of this and sign up to it. As you criticize there are many parents who are all too glad to have their wards obey someone or something for once in their life. It is afterall a choice. What rules are we talking about here my bro? Am sure those rules don't infringe on fundamental human right? Am dead sure if what these private institutions make thier students go through are were to be put in black and white the free minded students wouldn't append thier signatures to such improsonment. For Christ sake, Uni's are meant to impact general knowledge in to students and students are meant to pass through school so as to better fit in to the society after thier studies. Even in seminaries (catholic), there are rooms for intellectual discourse and exploration. |

@ ryhmz, liberal minded people know that what all you have said is true. I see no need trying to convince one whose mind has been made up. The problem with the generality of Nigerians is that we let religion becloud our sense of reasoning. Nigeria is one of the most religious Nation in the world yet we suffer as if God never exists in our Country. |
These evil deeds are not peculiar to any tribe in Nigeria or any country. Humans are generally wicked, only a few are good. From a Christian perspective i say these are end time signs. |
cesil92: And the YORUBAS have it all.... born2fuck: yoruba man don't Bleep another person woman! He must be igboDon't know how tribalism came in to the issue at hand. You guyz should learn to be matured in your post. Itz not a must to drop comments! ![]() |

all4naija: The truth is that No2 & 3 don't have any effect in Windows 8, most especially, when using Notepad++. So, those two are not magics.Who the hell are you to tell us that crap! I use windows 8 and i tried out all that on my system and they all worked out. |

colly227: Can anyone show me where it is written that the associates in Nigeria are Nigerians or you guys mean to tell me there are no USA citizens in Nigeria that could be the associate? Please let's not be in a haste to condemn this country no matter how bad we look.Thamk you for that wonderfull observation. I thought i was the only one that observesd that. These shows how majority of Nigerians evaluate issues. |
toluxa1: It is very obvious that 60% of total responders so far are big liars. I have a deep knowledge of the average Nigerian's psych. A lot of the people who have said they won't watch the media chat actually can't wait to watch it. It the same behaviour we exhibit with Nigerian football. I have lost count of how many times over 60% has said they aint gonna watch the "super chickens" play again but na dem go first go buy fuel for gen when match time reach. Nigeria I hail!!!Rightly said! |
Fhemmmy: You harsh ohThe truth is never subtle. |
T9ksy: And where then would you suggest these ibos returning from the north, go to if not the east despite the spate of kidnapping and whatsnotWell said! |
namfav: massob could not afford hospital fees for ojukwuAnd how does these relate to tthe matter on hand? |
justokey: I think I may have a solution to this: Since the average muslim housa/fulani is against this senless killings, they could offer christians security by way of human shield during church services. Let's see if BH is also ready to slaughter their own. This would just end up incresing the number of deaths. We are dealing with extremist, terrorist, brainwashed and devilish people who will stop at nothing to achieve thier aim even if it means kiling thier own blood. Have you asked why they accept to die in the cause of thier fight? |
