What does these states contributes to the national economy despite parasitically gulping billions and billions of Niger-delta money.

Lots, go and read my response to the Policewoman asking similar questions. I know the problem with you people is you are mere little kids running all around like headless chickens! grin grin Una go suffer tay tay for this country if it mistakenly breaks up. Policewoman: My state Rivers is richer than all your SW states combined with d exception of Lagos. Go figure.

Richer in what sense? You wrongly think that because Rivers gets a bigger share of the pudding, they are richer? The way you people reason only shows that your IQ is less than that of a tuber of yam - no offense! angry angry Has it not occurred to you that an arrangement where friends gather to share your own food and money while they have as much or more, and if the friendship is suddenly over, you are royally screwed? There is more Oil in Lagos and Ondo State than all the oil in Nigeria! If Nigeria breaks up, Lagos will own all the oil fields offshore and within its continental shelf! The difference will be that Rivers oil wealth would have been significantly depleted and share whereas you will not get a farthing as soon as Nigeria breaks up! Forget conventional oil, Ondo State sits on top of one of the largest Oil Sands deposit in the whole world, something Canada will earn about $450 B from in the next 25 years yet, in Ondo State, the resource still lies fallow. When Nigeria breaks up, you will not get a cent! Right now, Ondo State alone contributes about 12% of Nigeria's oil wealth, that is more than enough for all the needs of an independent South Western Yoruba country. But that is all about oil which is not a real measure of wealth.

The South West is the pride of the best education Nigeria has to offer from since the 1940's when you people were still living in the thick forest! The population of Ibadan alone is >> than all Rivers State, man power that cannot be created on a dime! The SW without even adding Lagos was far, far superior in everything using agriculture as the mainstay of its economy in the days of regionalism, what is the highest agricultural output of Rivers State since the foundation of the earth? Leadership and administration - the quality of leadership espoused by the Yorubas is something that will never be matched or approached by the entire River State till eternity! Now, need I say more? The SW has one of the largest deposits of other minerals like limestone, gold, etc. A word is enough for the wise!

Well, I am sorry to hear that you need us now. Why I would personally approve your stay in the prosperous lands to be crafted out of a broken Nigeria, I strongly refuse to allow your kins who have plotted the downfall of this country since 1967! Yes, you may be a good man or even woman but you people killed tooo many people already! Even if they were sacrifices to your ancient gods, how many people is enough? You kill, kill, kill and hold us back, back, back! Chief Obafemi Awolowo, like the Oracles of the Seven Worlds, spoke of the future before Nigeria was born, you ignored him and even tried to kill him but he was indestructible. Chief MKO Abiola, a man far blessed and richer than anything in Nigeria in history, could have run away like Ojukwu and Azikiwe to London and USA but as the Kananfo, a militant General he stayed and fought to the end, you killed him! June 12 - you killed several hundreds of people! Well, enough is now enough!

A narrow, well-guarded tunnel only will be allowed into our prosperous lands because we are tired of being held back! Armed robbery, kidnapping, ritual money, militantism, terrorism, etc was NEVER and can never be encouraged in our lands but this is what we are forced to deal with everyday! We are tired, tired, tired!!! angry angry angry

Policewoman: Your ACN gimmicks will not work. The SE and SS will give President Jonathan 100% of their votes, with or without the bridge. And what if it is a PPP? Why is it any of your business? Are the people who r gonna pay it complaining? Fashola is busy building on a city dat is a former FEDERAL CAPITAL, and you call that an achievement? Get a life, negro.

It is because the prosperous lands of the Yorubas was deemed far more precious and valuable than the lands of the ibos that the colonial and post-independence administrations sought it fit to choose Lagos as the Federal Capital of Nigeria. Was iboland not in physical existence when the said previous governments moved from Calabar, skipped over the land of your ancestors to move to a choice land hundreds of KMs away? Fashola is doing the job he was chosen and elected to do, building the land of his fathers and ancestors, the Yorubas. Is it his fault that your lands are not so built, not so favoured by God and the gods that granted the Yorubas access to the most viable and visible coastline in continental Nigeria? You cry a lot about Fashola and Lagos but now, the standard of Fashola and Lagos in comparison to your lands is an overkill for your lands should be compared to the resurgent ancient lands of Osun and Oyo State - long blighted by the curse called PDP - the party of your fathers! Their only stock in trade is destruction, killing, etc and desire to hold the SWesterners to their gradualism theories of development and destruction! Thunder fire all of una o! grin grin grin

Religion / Re: Why Are RCCG Pastors Solely Yorubas ? by CyberG: 4:04pm On Jun 22, 2013
Tribalism, even via religion, is an ibo thing only in Nigeria! Ibos can try and dance around it all you like but it is what it is! No doubt, the emphatic drubbing of the Biafra War left permanent and forever indelible marks on the ibo psyche! The pre- and post independence history of ibos is not enviable either and all these factors have permanently affected the ibo psyche and situation. No question, ibos have a strong desire to prove themselves all the time, try to embellish their situation and impress other Nigerians but most people don't care and even the smaller but all important tribes of Nigeria don't care really. The other major tribes of Nigeria never seem to need to prove themselves to themselves or to anyone. Ibos are the complete opposite giving rise to an inferiority complex further exacerbated because the more they do it, the less others care!

Here is another ibo who could just stay in his house, go to a white Catholic Church or go back to churches in alaibo if he wanted ibo priests but he goes to the end of the earth to find a fault in pastors who think of several thing everyday but most likely their tribe is the last thing on their minds! This is the kind of thing Jesus said to the Pharisees who go to the ends of the earth to make a proselyte and thereafter make him twice a child of hell. Mr inferior you are free to make yourself a stumbling stone and 10 X a child of hades! It's your choice!

This post was initially made to address people who only could see the flyover without any concept of the real picture of things. Blind criticisms of people like Okija is a mere show of stupidi.ty, really. I make my post not to convince you otherwise of your ill-conceived and prejudiced opinions for I am sure you have never been at that location before but for those who will be dispassionate and be objective this may help them to see. At the end of the day, the bridge is built by the government elected by the majority and that will suffice. Now to the issue:

Mokola is a MAJOR road developed for a long time before MOST states were even created in the SS. Ibadan is one of the most populous cities in Nigeria and the Mokola road connects Dugbe (business center) to Sango (another mega business area). From either end, the traffic is humongous and Mokola itself is densely populated with lots of big buildings, new and old and hosts major companies, banks, filling stations and private businesses and hospitals. The Mokola road is a DUAL CARRIAGE road itself but with the years of PDP, lawlessness allowed people to park or stop arbitrarily on one lane constricting the road at important places, exacerbating the traffic gridlock. The intersection at Mokola goes to Sabo on one hand and the other takes you towards UCH, Secretariat, etc. Now this should give you an idea that it is impossible to make the fly over any BIGGER for then you will in fact have not only to destroy all the buildings from somewhere within Mokola all the way past that major intersection (to Sabo and Secretariat, etc), that is 4 way destruction of 2 (dual carriage) roads! How much money will be needed for compensation? How much losses to businesses? In the circumstance, the entire area has to be almost effectively shutdown and this is a BIG part of the downtown Ibadan traffic! This is impossible and impracticable and goes against every grain of the economic welfare of the people and business! Now, let me tell you before you jump to any more conclusions!

That traffic on the long stretch of Mokola road going to that intersection can be reduced by linking to the road that turns towards Sabo before the Mokola intersection (assuming you are coming from Dugbe) and similar bypasses exist if you are coming from the opposite direction. To alleviate the gridlock at that intersection, eliminate the traffic that needs to turn left or right coming from Dugbe and Sango so they can go on one uninterrupted path. Provide the traffic that has to turn towards Secretariat or Sabo an opportunity without breaking stride and let the rest of the traffic proceed without much of a slow down. The result ==> eliminate or severely reduce the gridlock on one of the most important traffic arteries in the state and the minimum cost to businesses and individuals. In case you have not noticed, the bridge is like a 'bypass' on a dual carriage road, the road was a dual carriage road before any 'golden' dual carriage bridge you see in whatever state. Every project, terrain, resources and fundamentals are unique and a solution that may work in Akwa Ibom where the population density is very low can not and will not work in highly urbanized areas and built-up cities! Even if some buildings could be destroyed, I think it is VERY important to preserve the history of a city and its landmarks! There are places and universities in the West that have been over a hundred years old, with old architecture but modernized to serve the same purpose as new buildings. Plus, a new road, a new building today constructed by destroying an old one does not mean it would not get old one day itself! The key is to be innovative and creative about planning! I will take what the State government has done any day than what it was before and what you ignorantly propose here! While the government is doing that, they know they have LOTS of options which you cannot judge or see from a few pictures. For example, manage the traffic that goes towards the flyover by expanding existing and creating new adjoining roads towards and away from the intersection. There is a major intersection at some place called Danax before you get to the fly-over so traffic with no business in secretariat or towards Sango can turn towards Sabo, Adamsingba, etc. FYI, a network of roads in fact bypasses that flyover and can link you on your way to Sabo again where you link that road at Veterinary or almost opposite the road that goes to Premier Hotels. If you are coming from Sango, there is another detour towards Secretariat that exists around Group Medical, etc. I can go on and on but it only makes sense to those with an open mind who can appreciate the enormity of management of resources in a modern city, not village where you have nothing to think of drilling a few columns into the ground and placing your 'dual carriage flyover' on it!

Okija_juju:

Beautifully said..

So again, lets look at this as a simple debate and not allow our emotions turn things sour here.

SOoooo! Oyo State has little money especially when compared to Akwa Ibom.. #Undisputable. But this is my point. at some point, bigger roads would be needed. Even in this Makola area. then the demolition we didnt do today a 5 naira, we would do it tomorrow at 10. Maybe, the government could have gone out on a limb, paid the compensation, pushed the houses back, expanded the existing road by an additional 2 lanes on each side and allow a future government build the flyover. Many states borrowed the monies with which they are working in their states. If we keep using this allocation excuse, then states like Kebbi and co are eternally doomed I guess. Meaning we should never expect any real development from states outside the Niger Delta, the industrous states in the East like Anambra, Abia, Imo (for Egbema oil money) and maybe Ebonyi (for agriculture), then some Agriculturally active northern and Middle belt states.

Dude! This is 2013.. Such excuses should be chucked in the bin. Even the U.S sef they borrow money to do work. If Oyo is that Poor, sign a 50 year BOT agreement with a company or bank that will finance the project. Lagos is doing it, RIvers is doing it, Akwa Ibom is doing it, and still these states have money, so why cant Oyo do it?!

My guy find another excuse. All they have done is create more work for the future generation of Oyo. Ibadan is a state capital for christ sake. If better development enters Oyo, it will start from Ibadan. Now a future generation will have to look for a way to pay more to demolish and compensate (based on the time value of money), then think of how to either build a new flyover around this one or demolish and re-build which will still cost more all because the present generation were myopic to see a big future for the state. Rivers State is suffering from such now.. If only the past governments knew that Port-Harcourt would grow bigger than Borokiri and extend as far as Obigbo today, maybe they would have done alot of things differently. Now the money Rivers State has spent of Demolitions and compensation is enough to make 2 Local government areas enjoy dual carriage ways in all streets, nooks and crannies.

Ask any Port-Harcourt inhabitant about Rumuola flyover.. [/b]

Okija, I make my post not to convince you otherwise of your ill-conceived and prejudiced opinions for I am sure you have never been at that location before but for those who will be dispassionate and be objective this may help them to see. And what baloney is this thread?? It never happened that some Nigerian's senses were bought shamelessly like the poster! If a project purportedly carried out by a leader in almost 8 years with billions of Naira, more than any other state, looks like anything in those pictures, the consensus is to shoot such a leader for corruption - Akpabio in this case! However, he has bought your sense and soul for you are on NL everyday defending such uselessness! If you think it is about your tribe, hurry over to Lagos, Oyo, Osun or any other SW state and help hold the heat unto the leaders there by drawing attention to their poor leadership and management! You know what will happen? Improvement! They know more people are now watching but here you are whining that Eko Ile is 'attacking' your useless leaders! Had he built really huge hospitals, water schemes and hired the citizens to manage and run it, would it not be commendation everyone will be heaping on the state and leadership right now? If he hasn't done that, should he be praised and protected just because some of you have lost every atom of sense and self-respect??

I ask you, help post pictures of the most disconcerting and abysmal performance of leadership in Lagos (or SW) and I can only hope the leadership of notices it and moves to action to right the wrongs! The citizens can only benefit!

FYI, I have 2 friends who are from Akwa Ibom and neither of them have ever or think they will ever get any job in Akwa Ibom State! They are both graduates and they have moved to other states to look for work! It is the same for a lot of states but you can be certain where jobs are being created and the leadership is doing better for their people. Your Akpabio is a BIG FAILURE if the people are worse off than they are 8 years ago even if he build bridges and roads on every square kilometer of land in the state!
