Keneking: By the way, who was his Supervisor? I mean whose tutelage did he receive clearance for this diploma?

I am sure this would make FP shortly, but before I go to bed, kindly be informed that this document would have been removed from the library considering the heat generated so far.

This is a VERY GOOD FOLLOW-UP QUESTION! Who is the professor that supervised his research and thesis?? This is a really big deal because to a large extent, a lot can be said of the quality of a research thesis by looking at the pedigree of the supervisor! My own professors are leaders in their own field, highly visible, highly respected with some of the highest research outputs at the highest levels in our research areas / field. Surely, it can't be too hard to find the instructor who supervised his research?? Is there anyone at Uniport who can tell??
Politics / Re: El-rufai Retweets Insults On President Jonathan by CyberG: 8:59pm On Nov 09, 2013
El-Rufai spoke the truth! God will NEVER do anything he has given man the ability and common sense to do! No wonder why Nigeria multiplies churches in millions and remains crime-ridden and stagnating, some countries multiply their desire for honest service to their society and people and it is people praying everyday that will die to get a visa to go to the society where men are really working hard and thinking of tomorrow! God is not mocked, outward prayers and no inward introspection and action is a waste! Ask the pharisees if in doubt for Jesus himself said: "Woe unto the pharisees!" and in another place he said: "Except your righteousness exceeds that of the pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven"! Let GEJ keep deceiving himself and people after eating N 1 B food, he comes out to pray for the little kids dying of hunger? After assigning thousands of soldiers and police to guard himself alone, he prays to God to stop BH for the defenseless masses in another part of the country??

I have my thesis online, with the national library and the university library, why is GEJ,a purported president, unable to have his thesis online? Until it is available online, his pedigree and Ph. D remains questionable and in doubt! Going by the level of intellectual competence he has displayed since being in public space, there is no way this guy actually conducted original research spanning 4 - 5 years and published papers before publishing and defending his thesis and then, awarded a doctorate degree!

The greed of the elites in power who have kept this country on the floor will not allow them to see many issues on the front burner to be implemented. Unless there is signed/sealed commitment from those in power to this conference, then it is just another charade in the making. For example, can someone sign to be jailed if not completed and implemented?

I know most of what you wrote is speculative but of course with informed basis knowing how Nigeria's political office holders operate. If the people are able to pressure each other and their leaders to a regional arrangement, a lot of problems would be solved at the root rather than just dealing with the leaves. Any conference that allows Nigeria to remain as is will no achieve anything and everything will eventually revert to what it is now and possibly get worse.

Cyberfool,

Do you expect me to join you in a childish debate of emptiness such as true federalism or false federalism? Such classless banters are left for inconsequential political minnows such as you. Nigeria must disintegrate in order for people of various nation states to embrace socio-politico-economic growth. All these idiotic talks of federalism, regionalism and confederacy are deceitful maneuvers that have no useful time in Nigeria today.

An honest Nigerian must agree that disintegration of Nigeria into nation states is a sure way out of current socio-politico-economic doldrums in the country.

Life has already judge you - a man who was unsung and unknown all his life! Even in Biafra days, you were neither a hero or a peon to be reckoned with, in Nigeria you are pained that you are still bossed around and you never made it, so shall it be when you kick the bucket too! You are not worth even the shaite of a dog, so I refuse to engage you and wish every poster could do the same! Your voice has never counted in Nigeria, whether in he past, present or future so shut it!

He is still dazed and perhaps mentally damaged by the blunt force trauma of 1967 - 1970 Biafra war and his PTSD kicks in high gear whenever he hears the name of Chief Awolowo, Nigeria or related actors or events. dede1, just go and sleep, everything you've said has been shaited upon.

So if there is no regionalism and all the powers granted to it thereof, what will the conference be doing in the several months it would be sitting or what would be the essence of the conference??
Politics / Re: Awolowo Is Responsible For The Developments In Today's Western States - Clark by CyberG: 3:54am On Nov 09, 2013
In order for the people's of Nigeria to be able to respect each other, it is crucial to moderate the over-familiarization of the different components of Nigerian society and also pull the country put of poverty - a poor man will say anything, do anything and is really frustrated! If Nigeria becomes re-arranged as regional governments, it would give the right mix of autonomy and interaction with other Nigerians so there is mutual respect. Because of the "anything goes" happening everywhere now, every part of the country is basically passing the buck and expecting the other person to "do it" and in the end, no one takes responsibility, no one can be held directly accountable. Regional governments will make it possible to hold the leaders accountable and there will be no opportunity to play the tribalism card like it is today because as soon as someone is accused of corruption, the muddying of the waters with claims of victimization because of tribe is always their escape route or religion. In a regional arrangement, there is less chance of that, you know you are competing with (at least) 5 other regions and you have bills to pay at the end of the month.

It would become clear who does well and who is managing their resources better and other regions may be able to learn a lesson or two from the other one. Invariably, if indeed the parts that are always showing confidence now can back it up by actions, it would become very clear and we can actually begin to respect each other. Regional governments is the way to go and I hope all Nigerians can support this change rather than we remain in this current quagmire of a pseudo-federalism.

They want to toll Niger bridge which they are yet to build?? So they concessioned the bridge to a private firm that will build and then charge whatever it desires to ensure it pays back the cost of building the bridge?

I think the best way to go is for Nigeria to go back to regions and let the regions build all their roads and do whatever they want with it. It makes no sense for the FG to be building roads and collecting tolls that have always been stolen, the roads will never be maintained anyway!

Kponkwem: Let every investor come into Igboland. This is what we wish for. We need this even though the economy of the East will be driven by international commerce, industry and elaborate tax system. Besides oil, the region has the highest diaspora remittances in sub-saharan Africa. A repatriation of capital, investments and skills in a new region/republic will after initial few years of shocks, give way to a fast emerging Singapore-like economy.
There is abundant human resources providing ready academic and artisanal skill and market for consumer goods and services-refined petrol included. The region is small and contiguous, making it easy to spread infrastructure and product channels.

Robust infrastructure and investments will help reduce crime rates in a zone that has witness systematic neglect for successive regimes since after the end of the civil war. Even Dangote has avoided SE and SE for investments perhaps because of its civil war history or other factors best known to him and his advisers.

Please bring on the investments.

I am not sure you are aware of the reputation issues of the SE, have you seen the latest US Department of State travel advisory? So you want any company to go and commit $ 100 M to the same place their governments are advising people not to visit with $ 2,000 ? Well, what objective data shows the SE receives the highest remittance from foreign countries? Point to the statistics from MoneyGram or WesternUnion or is this just one of those things were "official statistics" is declared from your personal house and based on your "feel good" requirements?

I guess the group meant that representation on the conference shall be based on equal number of representatives from each zone. However, one of the topics at the conference shall also focus on achieving equal number of states for each zone.

There shall be serious case for disintegration. Nigeria can not continue to limp along with disgruntled roommates. If this lamely stride is allowed to continue, the house maybe set on fire by the roommates who have sworn to annihilate each other on slightest provocation.

Why would sovereign countries or regions need a federal government to create a state within your enclave?? By all means, create a state per human being or 100, it should be nobody's problem! Oh, why I would want the West to form an independent country with 100% control of its destiny and people who can come into our country, it might be asking for the impossible since all the thieving elites will make it impossible by shutting it down in order to continue milking the country dry but regions would be an easier compromise middle ground with all the privileges of such arrangement! I would prefer that and very much like the current Nigerian arrangement of states to be abolished!

Politics / Re: Unacceptable Accommodation System In Nigeria by CyberG: 5:39pm On Nov 07, 2013
walezy14: Come to think of it, government legislation should be in such a way that things must be made easier for the citizen. Our rentage system in terms of tenancy law does not favour large populace in the area of payment. No worker be it government establishment or private companies, pay a year salary to their staff, therefore, how come about payment of 1year or more accommodation rent in Nigeria system.
In advance countries, what is practictable and obtainable is pay as you go house rent and this makes life easier for their citizen.
I suggest there should be a legislation at federal and state level, to foster pay as you go accommodation rent in order to reduce unwanted hardship meted to people.

Good idea but you failed to analyze the situation properly or even observe what really happens in the foreign countries! In the foreign countries you mentioned, the federal government is not responsible for such laws! Go and check well and tell me where in the West, the federal government is setting laws for millions of their citizens several thousands of KM away and removed from their local realities! The state government is more appropriate for setting laws within their states and that is more appropriate!

Also, note that it is possible for a credit system to work when you know or can know the identity of who lives where and can gain insight into their credit worthiness. In Nigeria without any public record or credit companies who continually track the credit records of individuals and companies, there is no way you expect property owners to assume the big risk that a renter would default, thrash his property and run away for him to pick up the tabs running into thousands of Naira! What you should be doing is putting the horse before the cart, first allow Nigeria to run as independent states / regions, states make the laws at the assembly, (tenancy laws), federal / regional governments enumerate and keep factual records of populations and other indices so that when you move one part of the country to the other, you MUST register there and your record gets updated! Then banks can begin to actually operated credit card services and be able to track overtime and measure the level of risk with individuals and companies based on their history!

You have shown to be irredeemable ignorance. I read that most crude oil companies had to abandon their drilling sites for safety during mere police action in eastern region. Republic of Igbo land will gladly help you, Waltersmith, Mallam Abdulrazaq Isa and Mallam Danjuma Salah to safely evacuate their premises.

I think you are the one being ignorant and in fact lying a wee bit. It makes sense of course for any sensible human and company to stand aside in conflict, it does not mean "abandonment" like you mentioned. One of the reasons for the Police Action was actually the oil which was not in Iboland at that time but in the land of the minorities of the time. The only people who could have asked that foreign oil companies leave was Nigeria but they didn't and in fact at some point, some of the foreign companies reached a compromise by paying a little sum to Biafra while continuing their oil exploration business. This is clearly a talk for another topic and another day but the point is that neither Igboland or Nigeria is in any position to tell any company to just evacuate and leave! You must be willing and able to buy their assets at whatever price they are willing to sell, and "abandoned company" or "land grabbing" as an avenue to get rich on the investment and sweat of others will never work! If you want the so called "enemies" to leave, you'd better go and start saving up for the $ 1.8 B NOW or you can approach any bank willing to guarantee you that sum of money to buy otherwise, you are on a long thing! They will continue operations and hire qualified people from every corner of Nigeria and outside be it Hausa or Yorubas, and there's nothing you could ever do about it!
Politics / Re: Waltersmith Completes Phase 1 Of $180million Ibigwe Field Development, Imo State by CyberG: 4:41pm On Nov 07, 2013
DerideGull: The use of Waltersmith as a front is a such deceitful mechanism setup by British and goons from northern region of Nigeria to perpetually suck Ndigbo dry and dead. This is one thing Yoruba people will not allow in Yoruba land where two goons in Mallam Abdulrazaq Isa and Mallam Danjuma Salah from northern region of Nigeria parading as CEO and Vice-Chairman of Crude oil company, Waltersmith, sucking Alaigbo to death.

Waltersmith, Mallam Abdulrazaq Isa and Mallam Danjuma Salah should be told to leave Igbo land peacefully or hell will be let loose.

LWKMD! Why did you have to bring Yorubas into your painful life again?? Well, I am sure they will be more than happy to leave if either Nigeria breaks up into sovereign countries or regions and you can afford to PAY the FULL PRICE for their company! Why not? If they invest $ 180 M why you are lazying around, you bet you will not be paying them $ 180 M for their company but at least $ 1.8 B because they will factor in the reserves they are letting go, the future value of their company, etc. Now dede, can anyone in your generation afford to pay even $ 1 M, not to talk of $ 1.8 B?? undecided undecided

Afam4eva:
How is that equality. Were the regions created with eye for equality or were they created to give a certain region an advantage over others? The conference should be based on ethnicity which is natural as against regions and every ethnic group no matter how big or little should have the same number of delegates.

The proposal is for 100 people from each zone, obviously distributed among the ethnic groups within that zone but it is obvious there will be consultations within the ZONE so all the ethnics take a position, harmonize it, write it down, select 100 people and go to present and defend that position in the conference. This makes a lot of sense, 600 people in all +/- the people for moderation of the debate, security, etc.

On the other hand, you are suggesting that on the basis of ethnicity, the same number of delegates should be sent to go and present the position of their ethnic group, obviously without consulting anybody else but their own ethnic group. Well that might have made sense if there were only 5 or 10 ethnic groups in Nigeria but at over 250, it is a recipe for chaos and an ineffective conference! Have you ever managed anything before, a group of 10 people?? I am sure you've never done that because if you had you will be able to see your suggestion will not lead to a thorough conference in which the opinion of everyone can count and in fact would lead to a situation where it is possible that if each ethnic group sends 10 people each, they will be championing their position and when harmonizing the position of the conference comes down to resolutions, those people are humans and are more than likely to lose out if they cannot gain the majority there! As soon as their position is not reflected in the resolution, their being at the conference is already a loss! Contrast that with 6 sets of demands from zones, enough to potentially form economically viable regions or countries in which it is very easy to have mutually exclusive votes in which every region wins!

Again, within the context of reality, the so called conference is not seeking to divide the country into 250 regions in which each region is an ethnic group! Perhaps, you can do that in your region and divide it into as many states as there are ethnics and finance it within your region and spend your time on it. I think the best way forward is to go and speak to your Ibo kinsmen who are in the SE and get a uniform opinion. The only situations where it is more crucial to pay attention to the details are regions within boundaries of 2 or 3 regions, they can decide where they want to be and which groups they want to go with. Asking that you send 250 * 100 (just for example) to a conference is really asking for chaos and an impracticable decision!

God pls what is going on in this country, I’m almost getting depressed!!!

Are you tired of FRESH AIR NOW?? LWTMB!! grin grin Would you Nigerians vote for people who have never been mentioned in a corruption case like Buhari after 30 years in the public space? Would your tribalism allow you to see the future of your children and your retirement? Would you allow a Governor Fashola, on of the best administrators in recent times to keep you all busy and dazed with lots of positive strides in re-organizing the Nigerian State, infrastructure nationally while Buhari can bring the political will to ensure the system works and corruption is destroyed or reduced while the NA and Judiciary do their jobs to ensure the Executive is within the bounds of the constitution? Until you Nigerians are ready, I only see suffering in YOUR FUTURE and that of your children except each one of you is able to steal N 500 B!

As for me, I am glad I am far away from Nigeria, and MY PENSION will be coming from one of the best countries on the planet where I am working and investing my time and that of my future kids! Even if the whole of Nigeria is stolen today, I can only laugh at the foolishness of people who clap for their tribal kinsmen who have eaten their futures, their children and grand children while making sure their own children are not only born and educated in foreign countries but in fact bank roll their existence and opulent living on the head of your unfortunate kids! One day, they will return from US, UK, Canada, etc to continue to rob you and your children of any future so you remain in perpetual slavery while clapping for your tribal kinsmen!
