I just wasted 3 hrs in traffic along Lagos/Ibadan expressway just because I didn't want to drive against traffic for a few metres. Have you ever been in such position where you feel angry with yourself for trying to be law abiding? |
Only people who have been in the OP's shoes can understand. I have lived with someone with similar traits before. This one was actually diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and was on some psych meds... It's not funny. They can be so caring but their obsession can drain you mentally. Also their love can turn to extreme hate in a second if you don't give them what they want. |
RIP, Man. Drivers should always be cautious. This is a country where you see pot-holes, broken down vehicles and even entirely broken sections of road without warning. It bewilders me when I see people do neck breaking speeds recklessly. I was surprised seeing that the speed limit on Nigerian roads is even meant to be 100/120 km/h when people steadily do 140/160/180. Please let's be careful o. |
Your best best is multiple layers of security. Personally I use kill switch, tracker, keyless entry with alarm and steering lock. I use the steering lock least often though. I like the ease of flipping the switch, pressing the remote and getting off. |
If the AC still cools with the errant fuse pulled out, I suggest you keep using the car like that and carefully observe if anything is amiss. I suspect since they didn't use exact replacement compressor, some modifications have been made to the factory wiring system. |
The effect will most likely be AC related. Either AC clutch or blower motor won't work. Was your AC functioning before now? |
Ok |
Don't drive with a critical component disabled o. You mentioned something ECU related. |
Do you have any aftermarket security or audio system installed? What modifications have been made to the factory wiring? Whatever the case, Amperage test must reveal the culprit if it was properly done. I suspect whatever drains the battery starts doing so after a delay period. Tell your technician to pay attention to that. |
I'll be surprised if the church accepts such a seed. This makes no sense. |
RIP Victorian. I can't remember exactly how we related here on nairaland anymore but I remember it was a pleasant encounter. |
The level of wickedness we perpetrate in this nation is mind boggling. |
I saw on another social media platform that her issue has been sorted out by the church/NGO last night/this morning. |
revived:That mileage is the Trip A mileage. The actual mileage displays when you see ODO. |
She's tall but the camera angle has further exaggerated her height. |
I don't know how I missed your previous post. I have never met you personally but I almost did sometime ago when I needed parts for my previous car and I appreciate your honesty and selflessness. I wish I could help significantly but I'm not very financially buoyant at the moment. Please post your account if you don't mind a little token. |
The matrix has much more blindspots than the corolla so I prefer the driving experience of Corolla. |
You need new keys. And they will have to be programmed to work with your car. |
fredcomsat:And the key has neither dropped or entered water?. Can you snap a picture of the plastic part of the key? |
fredcomsat:The key is your problem. It seems the transponder has been damaged during transplant. |
One of the first things to check in this kind of case is the throttle body/IAC system. Get it cleaned properly. |
They need to be told? ![]() |
awoo47:Only 2005-2007 has that feature. |
DonnyE:It seems those that steal these cars have a master key. Steering lock offers no protection so far a valid key is inserted into the ignition. What makes matters worse for this model is that it has no immobiliser. A thief with a master key can drive it away with ease. |
mannasseh:I pray you do. |
mannasseh:Were you able to find it? |
No one should use this car (especially 2003/2004) without enough security. 2003/04 are easily known by a protrusion in the lower part of the front bumper and amber coloured rear turn signals and unfortunately has no factory immobilizer. I guess the thieves look out for that. After falling for pressure to buy this model year, I fixed kill switch, tracker and steering lock and yet I find it difficult to park anywhere in this Lagos/ogun state axis. I pray the owner recovers the car. |
Don't go for 2003/04. They are relatively less secure because they don't have an immobiliser system. The best year is 2007. Walk downwards to 2005 based on your budget. |
EdmundChidera:The country is the problem. I'm an engineering graduate, I work with a firm, and I know the kind of products we design and manufacture FROM SCRATCH and the kind of exceptional guys I work with. Our main product line is prepaid meters but the government will tell you there are no meters. Even when they decide to buy, they buy a few and buy from others who import from the Chinese. How is local content and local engineers encouraged? How will our economy grow? How can you see the impact of engineers? |
Your fuel pump is inside the car under the rear seat. Are you sure the sound is coming from outside? If yes, I'm suspecting your exhaust pipe. Either it is leaking or the hanger was improvised with binding wire causing the hissing sound. |
GAZZUZZ:Great job GAZZUZZ. Are those headlamps bright at night? |
