Hello czaratwork

I don't know how this comes off as but I wanted to ask your thoughts on something. I'm a lawyer and a PR hopeful. I believe I would have submitted my application in August, God willing.

Anytime I see your (and other) posts on financial services opportunities, I always get myself into thinking about opportunities I can pursue in this line and the skills I need to develop. My limitation is my very scanty proficiency in maths and calculations. I'm primarily an advocate in court and from inception quantitative/mathematical skills have not always been my strongest point. But what I lack in this area, I can make up for in grit and determination.

Considering my brief profile, what area of the financial services industry do you think I can venture into and rapidly catch up on?

Note: I'm doing this solely because of relocation and to improve my chances in the employment market. Thank you in advance.
We have a lot of lawyers in Anti Money Laundering AML role. Look at the job descriptions of AML and see if you can read up materials on their role. I used to have an ebook on their certification. If you certify, you have an edge over others.

Please pm me while i search for it.

Nice work boss/ma'am you're doing. About the realtor, is s/he immigrant friendly? ie does s/he accept folks who are yet to land a job, haven't credit history, and guarantor? This seems to be the headache for most recently landed immigrants.
She is a Nigerian and when she handled my case, she tried all her best to make sure i got accomodation, of course she also needs her commission from the landlords.

Regards

My people,

How has it been? A shout out to those that towed the financial analysis path. How has it been learning Advanced excel and some accounting packages? I hope at least one person gained from the knowledge sharing. I know i had also posted on AML role, i hope it helped at least one person.

Then for black female accountant network, i hope we have not only joined the group on linkedin but also on whatsapp as jobs are posted on regular basis in the whatsapp group.

If you are landing in GTA and need a realtor to help you with accommodation, please inbox me and i will give you the number of the person that helped me.

Sorry my PM responses are not as fast as before, my default gmail is my new gmail account. Sometimes i forget i have another gmail to check.

The most sensible post i have seen on Tonto's issue. That lady is hurting deeply. The guy must have played her. You and i know how street wise Tonto makes herself look like but she met a yahoo yahoo whose only truth could have been good morning.

It is rare for someone with B Sc. especially from third world to rise to the highest level in his/her career here. Even the lady that taught us during the orientation program back home mentioned it. You can get a job but there will be the glass ceiling you dont know about. if you want to reach your peak, make plans for your masters unless you just want to get by.

i said it is rare and not it is impossible.

ceemac:
Great piece there, but I will disagree slightly with the quoted.

If by any means you can pursue a Masters degree on arrival, please kindly do. There are range of reputable companies that recruits and demands for the most recent transcripts that you have to influencing considerations for entry level jobs and junior role jobs. Did I also miss to tell you that you also have the opportunity of pursuing a co-op Maters that can grant you the needed leg in the door? You also can be hired or make necessary industrial contacts via your research(if research masters) or through career fairs targeted at students and colleges. Finally, there is this unofficial sentiments for Canadian graduates.

A person with a MSc will automatically be better placed in comparison with a BSc holder when every other boxes are equally ticked.

I do agree that most jobs gives a baseline qualification for BSc. but if you were an an employer, will you not rather employ a MSc. holder for same cost and while considering the added value in the long run?

Indeed many factors plays out, Having an added degree is a coloured feather.

In addition. If you are buying from the US (majority of sellers are based in the states), you may be required to pay import duties. This could make the cost of your item significantly higher.

There are lots of scammers on ebay so you have to watch out, so before making a purchase, ensure that the seller has lots of reviews (positive reviews are even better).
Thanks for the additional info.

Yes plenty of times. Go online or download the app and register. Ensure you’re on eBay Canada and not eBay US. Some of the products might be sort from the eBay US site automatically then you get to pay in CAD for them. Just like any other shopping site, place items in your cart, checkout and pay. The end
Thanks. I will do that.

guys please
What experience does she intend to use to get a job? Which designation does she intend to flaunt in the job market.

The market does not recognize ACCA and also your last 5 years experience determines where you will get job.

Tax is a hot market here regardless of your country. They believe it is just a little brushing up that you will need. I have seen Nigerians get tax related jobs with their Nigerian experience.. Some firms are purely into tax only and recruit people with tax experience. The big 4s too have tax openings too.

My suggestion is that she gets into the market with her experience and then move to her desired role. That is not to say it will not work out the way she wants it. Nothing is cast on stone here. What you really need is networking. If you meet the right person, you can get a role that will blow your mind.

Delaying her ACCA conversion can also affect her integration because the time wasted in conversion after you have landed can make you rusty for your role. She should come all armed for any job that may come her way.

My 2 cents.

The reason we are the most schooled in the US is because unlike here where you get work permit after studies, the only reason you will have to remain in the US after studies is that you are enrolled for another program or you got a job.

The woman is an idiot. A she-goat that incite ladies against men. F*k the bitch. Feminist biatch. All they do in that group is to gather, one of them brings up a juicy story to deceive ignorant others about how Evil Men was in their life and the hatred on men begin.
They even advise the married ones on how to deal with their husbands, kill him, deprive of something, tackle his mother & siblings etc.
Some of those bitter women eventually spilled into Nairaland.
Needless to say, none of them was married and the few that were had very dirty marriages.

That woman was a fake person.

I am surprised that Nigerians could not tell.

That woman was w charlatan to the core.

What he said is in order.

If you please God by faith in Jesus & not lead people to hell then you will make heaven.

That woman was fake
Please stop.

This is a woman that her group churned out so many testimonies of marriages, babies and financial breakthroughs. Testimonies were still pouring in from members yesterday oblivious of the fact that she has gone to be with the Lord. A closed prayergroup of sisters just like the sisters fellowship you have in brick and mortar. It is closed like any other group on facebook that limits its post to members. As soon as you join, you are also able to add your friends. When members post their engagement/wedding testimonies, they tag their spouses. There is nothing secretive about what is done there. Some days are designated for fasting and prayers and prayer points are posted to guide the programme.

Even if you lay down your life for people, you will still see people saying you did not lay it down very well. Meanwhile the people from the other kingdom whose work she was frustrating with the prayers will now be rejoicing and carrying falsehood about her not knowing that God's work cannot be stopped.

This was one of the pioneers of the aggressive & frustrated feminists you see in Nigeria today.

I once sneaked into that evil group & witnessed first-hand, how she brainwashed fish-brained females to hate men.
All they do in that group is to gather, one of them brings up a juicy tale about The Evil That Men Do and BOOM! grin hatred unleashed.
They even advise the married ones on how to deal with their husbands, kill him, deprive of something, tackle his mother & siblings etc.

I can't waste precious RIPs on this hell-bound idiot.

*spits angry
You are very wrong. It's a prayer group. Of course your moniker says it all but God is gonna raise more of her to deal with your likes. She does not need your RIP. Work for yours while you still have breathe in you. It's a wicked world indeed. A woman given to good works.
