They call it pay it forward. Sometimes the person ahead of you in the queue pays for your services and you pay for the services of the person behind you.

Vengeance may take time but it will surely come. The people that connived to bring down intercontinental bank and oceanic bank (Saraki and Sanusi) are now at the receiving end. Be nice to people.

Someone shared how a lady wanted to lure her to sell her product to her in a hotel. She was game until she started hearing a male's voice in tje background telling the lady what to tell her. That was when she smelt trouble and refused to meet her in the hotel.

phemocheee:
Good morning folks. Please I have a good problem and I'm losing sleep over it already.

I'm currently in Calgary, staying with my cousin for about 2 months now. Just recently, I got a job here in Calgary and I'm expected to resume tomorrow. Let me also say that the pay is quite good too. However, last week thursday, I got another job at Ottawa and the difference in salary is about 18k (gross)

Both jobs are of the same category, Senior IT Security role.

Now to the main point: I'm seriously contemplating relocating my wife and son to Ottawa but my cousin feels the increase in salary is not material enough to offset the cost of living @ Ottawa in short and long term. He's of the opinion that staying close to family and friends in Calgary will be beneficial to me in the long run.

Please for folks living in both cities, which do you think is the best choice at this point in time? Should I stay in Calgary or move to Ottawa?

P.S My wife is also into IT Security but she's yet to get a job in Calgary yet.

Thanks

I agree with maternal on this. You have more opportunities in Ontario than Alberta. Toronto is the next big thing in IT. We have many corporate headquarters in Ontario. Please move to Ottawa even if the pay is less, things will straighten out at the end of the day.

Ifeoma77, welcome to Canada. You are really a jaiye jaiye person. With this attitude, you will not be long in the labour market. This is the kind of energy they need here. If you doubt me check their job postings, you will always see fast paced environment mentioned.

Enjoy your vacation and please add July 1 as part of your vacation because no business opens on that day and it will help you see how Canadian enjoy their day. Connect with a community close to you on that day and enjoy their events.

Very rare. Most companies would ask if you will require a visa to work with them and if yes, the process ends there and you cant work with visitors visa
centoqoh:
Hello everyone, pls permit my question.

Can I land a job (any kind) with a 4yr tourist/visit multiple entry visa?

The agent I'm discussing with said this is possible so I want to find out from gurus on ground already.

I'm a graduate of Mass Communication but I'm not a professional -have not been working with my certificate.

I've also posted this question on the Federal Skill Worker thread (before someone will say "this is not the right place to ask this question." cheesy

Hi all,

I received some pms from bankers in Nigeria that would want to continue their banking career here. i will just share the basic knowledge i have here and believe some people already in the bank here will throw more light and or correct my impression if wrong.

for those in branches you can still continue your career here as the banks here have branches and are always recruiting. Doing the mutual funds accreditation in either Investment funds in Canada or Canadian Security course or both before launching yourself into the job market gives you an advantage over others.

Also Acces employment is a good employment agency to connect with if you intend to land a banking job because they have link with almost all the banks and do career fair with the banks while training you.

The main roles in the branches are client advisor, banking advisor and financial advisor and the major banks are RBC, TD, CIBC, SCOTIA and BMO. you also have customer service representative which is like contact centre job in Nigeria.

Feel free to google these banks and the roles to see their job descriptions. This will help you decide if it is something you can do. good sites to search for jobs are indeed, glassdoor and the banks' career sites

Please the experienced Canadian bankers here can throw more light oin career in the banks here especially the branches and the certifications required to get into the system. Once you get in with your Nigerian experience you can always navigate your way to other departments(a foot in the door) and also the difference between the 2 certifications.

Thanks

Hello czaratwork

I don't know how this comes off as but I wanted to ask your thoughts on something. I'm a lawyer and a PR hopeful. I believe I would have submitted my application in August, God willing.

Anytime I see your (and other) posts on financial services opportunities, I always get myself into thinking about opportunities I can pursue in this line and the skills I need to develop. My limitation is my very scanty proficiency in maths and calculations. I'm primarily an advocate in court and from inception quantitative/mathematical skills have not always been my strongest point. But what I lack in this area, I can make up for in grit and determination.

Considering my brief profile, what area of the financial services industry do you think I can venture into and rapidly catch up on?

Note: I'm doing this solely because of relocation and to improve my chances in the employment market. Thank you in advance.

We have a lot of lawyers in Anti Money Laundering AML role. Look at the job descriptions of AML and see if you can read up materials on their role. I used to have an ebook on their certification. If you certify, you have an edge over others.

Please pm me while i search for it.

Nice work boss/ma'am you're doing. About the realtor, is s/he immigrant friendly? ie does s/he accept folks who are yet to land a job, haven't credit history, and guarantor? This seems to be the headache for most recently landed immigrants.

She is a Nigerian and when she handled my case, she tried all her best to make sure i got accomodation, of course she also needs her commission from the landlords.

Regards
