lmao. I thought my post would confuse you a bit. . I was right

lemme say those ancestors that had the knowledge and shared it were the Gods themselves

Historically, at around say 500BC sub saharan africa probably didn't have shrines at all. .. even today some of the oldest african cultures don't have shrines dedicated to Gods eg. Baka, San, Gbaya people.. there are of course many more

hence this shrines and temples were more like schools learning the ways of the "Gods"
Oh okay, if I catch your drift correctly, your insinuation implies that gods=ancestors=forefathers, and there is nothing supernatural about them, just tradition.

I do get it very well. You shot yourself on the foot with that statement. Accept it a move on.
I never shot myself in the foot, you only twisted my words just to serve your point.
Anyway whatever makes you sleep at night, besides I prefer having these sorts of arguments verbally.

Your bitterness or anger displayed by that statement and the attempt to clarify issues are diametrically opposed to each other.

You have no problem with those who get it wrong but then go on to say you get displeased.Contradictory innit?

It may do you good to read what exposed your bitterness and grudge even if you fail to realize it's there. Your analogy of a student does not fit in with your 'thoughts' as stated here.

So much for live and let live
.
You would never get my point, you're hardwired to believe what you want.
perhaps some other time.

what our forefathers believed is different from Christianity and Islam pls. there were people who devoted their lives to unraveling mysteries of the universe rather than just say "a god did it"
take yorubaland for instance. ..the people who made the most contribution to the understanding of a particular aspect of nature were in fact the "Gods" ie. Orisa
and I believe it is similar in other parts of sub Saharan africa

that is if you understand what I'm saying
Am a proud African and I respect our traditions, and I regard the African gods(orisas) unlike the imported ones, not that I believe either actually exist.
But don't you feel this said understanding of nature like herbs for instance which you said were given to us by the gods, were actually knowledge gained via experiences by our ancestors and later passed down generations and not based on the divine intervention of the orisas(gods)? Aren't the gods just a representation of the supernatural (which is nonexistent) and most especially, tradition/culture?
I don't believe in the supernatural and gods.

I based my conclusions on research which were stated on this thread. You guys believe in empirical evidence don't you. So here it is staring right back at you.
You don't néed a psychologist to see the bitterness in this statement or grudge.

That is the route to Atheism based on facts. Please disprove same with facts and not sentiments.
Your conclusions are not far-fetched.
That isn't my own route to atheism, along with many others, might be for some selected few, but not me, so please stop going about with that opinion proudly displayed on your divan, don't generalize it.
I have no problem with you theists, as long as you live and let live.

Bitterness? In what respect? What I dont fancy is the ignorance, am an academic, so its very normal.
If am marking scripts of a student and he seems to get it all wrong I wouldn't be pleased.

That is what I said.
Religion / Re: Any African Atheist That Claims God Does Not Exist Is A Hypocrite by dablazor: 5:58pm On Jul 10, 2016

We could categorize atheists into four main areas:

Those who lack belief
Those who don't know if God exists
Those who doubt that God exists
Those who believe God does not exist

There are Atheists who have no belief in any god or gods (weak atheism). They may not know or doubt.

Then there are Anti-theists who are against the idea of God's existence (strong atheism).

They still are the same thing. I can relate with the latter who have a stronger conviction than the former who basically seem neither here nor there and seem lost.

The point is they all go through the same route to Atheism. Frustration, failure and disappointment brings doubt, resentment, grudge or outright unbelief.
You're getting this all wrong, about 65% of global atheist population were never for once in their life theist, so where does the disappointment, failure and frustration come in to play when they were never for once theistic?
I don't belief in god because there is no proof of his existence, its just a big whole universe, and religion doesn't cut it for me, that's why I seek knowledge anywhere I can find it.
Religion is just a lazy way out of the many things we don't know about our planet.
Many mysteries on our planet that the ancient men credited to a godly existence has been long discredited by science, and a lot more uncovering is going on, because you don't know how something happened, that doesn't give anyone a right to say a god did it, that's what our forefathers did, and that's why all religions and gods are manmade.
You are a christian and you believe your god is the one true god, while disbelieving in over a thousand other gods that exist today, what makes yours the true god and others a counterfeit?
I hope you get my drift.
And as regards your paragraph above claiming atheists who aren't anti-theist are still in doubt about god's existence is a clear cut hogwash, because I decided to let sleeping dogs lie, that doesn't necessary mean I don't think your doctrines are quite comical, we are just tolerant, 'why i entertain the bullocks, that doesn't mean am in doubts or the thought of religions and your theist gods doesn't make me sick inside.
Some atheist and anti-theist theist converts might convert based on some petty reason like disappointments and frustrations, but not all converts are that petty.
Religion / Re: Any African Atheist That Claims God Does Not Exist Is A Hypocrite by dablazor: 4:53pm On Jul 10, 2016
1stCitizen:

A personal grudge built by frustration especially when things go pear shaped in their lives hence God is to blame or does not exist. Very convenient
With all due respect Mr, there is quite an apparent difference between an Anti-theist and an Atheist, do not mix the two up.

Atheists have no grudge with your god, your religion or every other theist like yourself, they just don't believe in them, their disbelief in god vis-a-vis religion isn't centered around frustrations, an atheist has no grudge with you, an atheist does not belief in your god, and doesn't care about your theistic ways or your theistic gods.

While some other atheist are anti-theist, and here is where the distinction lies, an anti-theist attacks theistic believes and doctrines, while a regular atheist does not.
Some former theist who are now both anti-theist and atheist may have some grudge with their former theist God, hence the graduation from atheism to anti-theism, but other anti-theist do so because they feel religion is wrong and harmful to the populace so they attack theistic doctrines every chance they get.
All anti-theists are atheists, but not all atheists are anti-theists.
Thank you.

Let's put it this way: Game of Thrones is objectively the greatest tv show ever. Only Breaking Bad comes close. If GoT is a 10/10, The Originals is probably a 6.5. I rate shows like Supernatural at an 8 or so; the first five seasons, at least.
Breaking bad is that good?

Oh. you really are expecting me to convince you? No hermano, i won't do that, I am not obligated to.
I am a theist from birth and remained so for a little over two decades, and yet i found reason myself
and preferred my status quo, nobody personally influenced my decision to segue, so if you refuse to
see reason despite far fetched hitherto compelling evidences, and common logic, then its your choice

The incessant blatant show of ignorance by the atheists is indeed ineffable . Can you give me any reason why atheism is a better choice seeing that atheists are immoral , debauchees , have the disposition to show bigotry and are malevolent towards the religious ?
Debauchedness, Ignorance, Immorality and Bigotry all these adjectives do no Atheist justice and am not talking referring to the follow-follow ones, if anything your adjectives which you proudly display on your divan defines your regular theist, which you sir just attested to with your unguarded and rather obscene demeanour.
I have met quite a handful atheist and more theist, and having a scale on both belief systems level of ignorance isn't even arguable because its too apparent.

You theists are very rude and you just proved this as well and quite ignorant, and I must add, cowardly; yeah, you guys are cowards, you're too scared too discard an illogical premise because you hold it sacrosanct, inviolable.
Anyway it's your glass of beer.
Here is an unbeliever who begs your reason, which would have made a valid civil argument with good points raised and researched but instead you waned in with all claws and a dragons breath and here you are mirroring your groups reflection on another.
I find this funny.

Your logic is flawed mano.
Besides the meaning of someone's name as regards their belief is insignificant.
