Carbonated beverages, whoever goes into it should get prepared as govt mulls excise duty, likely suffer dip in sales like beer makers. healthserve: Exactly what people say. I did back and fail so its bad. Mind stating the businesses you did. Area you set it up. What went wrong. What could have been done right? Why you think its a bad idea.

FG bonds Jejebabaa: https://punchng.com/cbn-stops-treasury-bills-sale-to-individuals/ Guys serious trouble is looming as from Nov 29. If you have opportunity to lock your fund now for longer terms above 10% please do so asap. Treasury bills might go lower to single digits rate if care is not taken with all these CBN monetary policies. I never expected Emefiele to go this "low". |

Nike Popoola The Central Bank of Nigeria has given a directive to banks and other financial institutions to stop the sale of treasury bills to individuals and small firms with effect from November 29. Some bank officials who disclosed this to The PUNCH said only big corporate organisations would be allowed to do treasury bills investments. Our correspondents learnt that banks were already notifying their customers of the new directive. The sources, however, said the existing treasury bills investments would be allowed to continue till the end of their maturity dates. A bank official said, “Operators are trying to see if the November 29 deadline given for the implementation by the CBN could be extended, so as to create enough awareness. But there is no move for the reversal of the directive.” An operator said the inaccessibility of treasury bills might lead to an increase in savings deposits of the banks, attracting interest rates below what the treasury bills offered. A source from the CBN said the move was to stop the mop-up of funds from the system through the treasury bills. He said, “Many people with huge cash prefer to keep their funds idle in treasury bills instead of investing the funds. Some people collect huge severance package, have huge funds but they have refused to invest the money. “We want these funds to be useful in the economy so that they will be available in the banks and can be invested to create more jobs in the country.” He noted that the CBN had increased the Loan to Deposit Ratio of the banks from 60 per cent to 65 per cent. abimbola01: https://punchng.com/cbn-stops-treasury-bills-sale-to-individuals/ |

I agree with the bolded. I only provided an answer to the questioned asked healthserve: I'm sure this doesn't answer Lionhearted question. If the principal's existence ( Nigeria ) ceases to be, what then will vested interests ( Contracts ) be hinged upon. I believe we both know the obvious answer to that question Sir. In historical context, there are many yet to be fulfilled contracts till today that follows the same character and spirit of the FGN bonds and co as of today. There's never a completely risk-free investment.
To play safe, given the risk-averse profile at the moment that threaten's the nation's unity/existence, investments should be from medium to short term, as any other thing implies gambling whatever way we like to describe the risk exposure as, low, very low, extremely low or fast Sir. |

FGN Bond is a debt security (liability) of the FGN backed by the ‘full faith and credit’ of the Federal Government and no default risk, meaning that it is a safe investment where interest will be paid at regular intervals and principal repaid at maturity. Hmmmmmmmmmm Donbrig: Nylon business is a no go area, the govt is truly making plans to start a harsh campaign against that business because of the environmental harzard plastics normally cause, it takes hundred of years for a plastic waste to decay and Nigeria is yet to have good system for recycling plastics or introduce a more environmental friendly plastics to Nigerians, like they have in Europe or America. My family has a nylon business and we have received several letters from different govt agencies. |

healthserve: Every business we must do Sir as our dad's did workers must have duties to do from day to day and comprehensive reports needs to be sent to service head. All we need to do Sir is sip drink and review business reports. With ordinary graphic charts any business failures, successes, strong areas , weak areas can be identified or and improved upon
Thing is people say businesses fail. Let's ask do they maintain data analytics of performance in their business so milestones can be setup, performance improved and sustainability which ensures business presence and continuous productivity can be attained. You are right. I once said here on this thread that I know someone doing business in Nigeria with 3 branches and his not present physically, they told me the dude was running a charity organization. |

athorello: Actually the bank is the best place to earn 80k. I don't know of UBA but in some banks, contract staff get overtime, atm duties, and leave bonuses, etc.
Then add, illegits like pecks from customers and extra runs in some units, links with BDCs, yahoo boys, etc.
Also, the average pay to full time bankers is cool, add allowances and bonuses, profit sharing in some banks, a banker will do very well, easily venture into business or relocate to Canada through dedicated savings. There's always mass exodus in banking that's one main reason they're always recruiting. UBA, FCMB and First bank gets ATM duties |

contumely2: There is more to this than meets the eye. Seems what you are stating are for public consumption. It's understandable. PETROL STATIONS DON'T RELY ON 10 PER LITRE ISH.
Petrol stations buy from "bunkery" at a very cheap rate. They go there at times armed. I know a petrol station in Onitsha that is into it full time. (I know you must know about it.)
They also tamper with metres. If you take a 20 litre gallon to any station, at least 25 litres will be needed to fill it. Some stations have been sanctioned for this and I am sure those are the ones that didn't settle the inspectors ---- I think they are from DPR.
All these are first hand experiences.
If petrol stations sell or rely by the margins you are quoting, then 90% of stations would have closed. There are many stations here that can't sell upto 5,000 litres daily.
It's just like a governor contesting just because of salaries he will be paid --- not upto 1m sef.
But he will embezzle billions through contract inflation etc.
Almost all big money in Nigeria are from illegalities and standard breaches. Alhaji is a smart business man. |
