"...his private residence" ..who is the "his"?

If I may get you right, you are specifically referring to a the new palace as if it's meant for a certain king; for record sake, the new palace in these pictures is a new official palace of Olubadan of Ibadan. It's the project of Oyo State govt, the palace is built to be a modern official abode for any Olubadan on the throne so long the palace is livable.

Exactly one of the reasons I respect people from western world than Africans, especially Nigerians, they face the reality and have this sharp mind to think straight, Imagine if this should happen to a king on the throne in Nigeria, you dare not mention anything related to his death while he is still bedridden even when he is in comma.

Even the Olakulehin of Ibadan who is believed to be the next Olubadan on queue, the man has not been seeing for a public appearance since the demise of the last Olubadan, rumour had it that the man has been seriously I'll but his family members and some desperados seem to be more interested in the man becoming a king than for him to regain his health, we crave for post and power as if we will live with it forever on this planet earth

Crime / Re: Again, Police Bust Fake Drink Factory In Lagos, Arrest Four by dabonny(m): 10:20am On Mar 22
SoNature:
The Lagos State Police Command, on Thursday, announced that its operatives busted a fake drink factory in the Agege area of the state and arrested four suspects connected to the illegal factory.

This comes as the police stated they had initiated an investigation into the alleged production and distribution of counterfeit drinks by the suspects.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, revealed this in a brief message on his X (formerly Twitter) page on Thursday.

According to Hundeyin, during the raid, the four suspects believed to be the masterminds behind the illegal distillery were apprehended, and fake drinks were seized, among other items.

Hundeyin further noted that fake drinks, empty bottles, and labels of various brands were also confiscated during the operation.

“Officers of Isokoko Division, acting on credible information, raided a house in Agege where fake alcoholic drinks were being produced.

“The police arrested four people behind the illegal distillery and recovered fake drinks, empty bottles, and labels of different brands. The investigation is ongoing,” the PPRO stated.

Meanwhile, netizens, while reacting to the arrests, emphasised that the circulation of fake drinks could result in the loss of lives of residents of the state.

@MA_Dibola commented, “Wow, that’s some impressive police work! It’s great to hear that the officers of the Isokoko Division acted on credible information and raided a house in Agege where fake alcoholic drinks were being produced. The fact that they arrested four people and recovered fake drinks, empty bottles, and labels of different brands shows their dedication to combating illegal activities. I hope the investigation leads to further actions against those responsible for this illegal distillery.”

@_taymi added, “Good job on this. I think more of this should be continued and should not be taken lightly. People like this should be used as scapegoats.”

@OIvwa stated, “Their criminal tendency is capable of ending Nigerian lives. This is wickedness.”

The PUNCH reported in December 2023 that the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control intercepted counterfeiters involved in the production of various fake beverages, including wine, soft drinks, and other products estimated at over N750,000,000 in the Eziukwu market in Aba, Abia state.

In the same month, officers attached to the Ojo Division of the Lagos State Police Command arrested two suspects, Magnus Nwonka, 42, and Imo Lawrence, 35, for possessing fake drinks.

The suspects were reported to have led the detectives to a multi-room factory in a filthy environment where the fake drinks were produced.

Romance / Re: Please How Do I Recover My Money From First Bank (pictures) by dabonny(m): 4:14pm On Feb 16
Thugnificent:
On Wednesday this week (Valentine's day) I experienced wickedness in it's purest or should i say unpurest form

A client I've been doing some work for since January this year finally paid me my wages ( about 50k). I kept thanking God because that was the only money in my account i swear. I was DEAD broke

The greatest shock of my life came when i checked my balance after receiving the credit alert.

What i saw startled me to my bone marows.

The sum of 18000 ( eighteen thousand naira) was removed from my account without any debit alert. I immediately called the customer care around 11 PM that same day after transferring the remaining balance to my Opay

Luckily i was able to connect with one. He told me that the reason for the withdrawal was because i was debited all the cost of sms alert charges since 2021 till date that amounted to the 18k.

I wasn't having any of that. The next day (yesterday) i went very early to the bank and made the same complaint. The cashier there directed me to the customer care.
The customer care also said the same thing and confirmed it from her system that the 18k withdrawal was from the accumulated sms charge since 2021 and showed me my history which corroborated with what they were saying.

I now asked them why they had to wait for three years before debiting me in bulk, they didn't give any reasonable answer.

I almost ran mad. I didn't know when i raised my voice out loud till the security ushered me out.

Right now I'm devastated and broken. Because most of the money i was to use to service some loans and feeding.

Right now i really don't know what to do.

How can i recover my money please. I have almost lost my mind.

Someone help me out with suggestions please. I take God beg you.

Edit: some of the debit recorded in the app. First Bank doesn't allow screenshot

I wouldn't have believed this to be true, but I was once a victim of same bogus and accrued sms/alert charges deduction.

I think it happened to me sometimes last year, I woke up to receive a 25 gtb sms, debit alert ooo totalling #3,850. I was pained cuz the money in my account had been budgeted, I went to the bank the following week and I was told it was an accumulated sms charged since 2016, this seems fraudulent to me cuz there is no single time I have not been charged for sms since the 2016 mentioned

My conclusion was that, it was a deliberate fraudulent practice by most commercial banks in Nigeria, this can be the new means by which banks are augmenting their profits, this is very bad

4 more multinationals to exit Nigeria in coming week owing to scarcity of USD.

Just for you information, USD is now #1,900 in the parallel market. It is projected to hit #2100 before end of February as the exit of these country will further drawdown on nigerias forex balance.

I warned people to change their naira last month. Now, it may be impossible to change as people are no longer selling.

This is the shege promax we talked about.

You are only interested in figures, you don't appreciate the value.

The higher the prices of naira soar, the lower the purchasing power, so if had understand this simple theory, you wouldn't be interested in seeing the prices of naira to be skyrocketing
Politics / Re: Kalu: I Left $4 Billion Balance Sheet In My Companies Before Joining Politics by dabonny(m): 12:16pm On Jan 30
Metrix147:
Senator representing Abia North, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has said he left at least $4bn balance sheet generated from his companies in 1998 before joining politics, saying he didn't start life as a politician but businessman.

The former Abia governor said before 1998, he built business entities, particularly in the media, oil, and gas sector, shipping, airlines, and others.

In a social media post, Sen. Kalu said he had enough resources to fund his former party the PDP, when he joined politics in 1998.

He said, "I built several entities (businesses particularly in the media, oil, and gas sector, shipping, airlines, and others), and in 1998,  I left more than a $4 Billion balance sheet in my companies before venturing into politics".

He wondered why people like him are expected to be penniless while those who have done next to nothing parade themselves as achievers.

He noted further, "In 1998, I used my resources to fund the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), my former party, and certain personalities. I built several entities (businesses particularly in the media, oil, and gas sector, shipping, airlines, and others).

"Today, those who have done next to nothing in the private sector are the ones parading themselves as achievers and saints. Whereas the real face of the organized private sector and other accomplished personalities like myself who have worked tirelessly and multiplied investments are expected to be penniless.

"Even though I have had my ups and downs, the fact is that I didn't start life as a politician. I am a businessman, a  capitalist with a human face."

No doubt life has been very difficult for the poor masses,Including the civil servant too, even most of the security men are not left out

Religion is not even helping matters at all because all the praying and fasting is not helping the situation

Nigerians protested but ended up getting killed and denied,
Kidnapping and ritualist is even the new trend now, even social media is not even helping matters due to the bad news we see there everyday
We voted for someone but someone else emerged the new president
The government keeps implementing laws that affects poor Nigerians
Even the Nigerians that managed to escape this big prison called nigeria, committed alot of crimes that made most of the developed country makes it difficult for us to secure traveling documents,
So I sat down and started forcasting and and picturing what the end of this regime would look like if the situation of the country go on like this

BEFORE THE END OF THIS REGIME:
1$ = N4,000

Before it reaches this stage, things may likely burst

As much as I have been trying to avoid this notion which has been commonly mentioned since the inception of this lady's trial: I think I will have to lend my simple view by making a reference to the scripture; let us read and digest;

"Everything God has done will last forever; nothing he does can ever be changed. God has done all this, so that we will worship him."
(Contemporary English Version)
Ecclesiastes 3:14

....going by the above quote, I think a line can be drawn.

I hate how these politicians usually deceive themselves thinking they are smarter than anyone out here. They manipulate and coerce us to believing that they prayed to attain a seat of power, they are handshaking the Satan and plant a kiss on Jesus; Politicians and hypocrisy are like 5 and 6.

Dear nairalanders, i need your sincere advice on this issue. I am the overall manager of a company. My boss ( the owner) uses divide and rule system. He likes people snitching on others. He has adviced me as the manager to adopt same system to get information about what's happening.

My concern now is that he doesn't probe me to speak about others but he probes others to speak about me. So far so good no scandal has been reported against me. I live above board with the fear of God to the best of my ability.

Each time he will tell me the workers said i dont take suggestions, i am harsh with them when they suggest. I know this is a lie on the part of the workers.

This is where i need your advice: should i confront my boss and ask why he is doing that. Why is he using them against me and not me against them.

This attitude is frustrating me. He is always confronting me with their very sentimental and subjective opinions. Meanwhile non is able to say any serious evil against. I know if they see they will definitely tell him . But non as at today.

Should i quit the job or just ignore

He is an good entrepreneurer and an astute manager. If he does not employ the divide and rule, I don't see his business surviving, that's what many general managers do to be everywhere at all time
