Pls nairalanders, I am in deep mess right now. I have been living in my compound for 6 yrs now but due to some money issues I was evicted and my friend/fellow tenant was kind enough to take me in for the time being. It is him the wife and their small baby son that stays.

The problem started when the wife start complaining that am wasteful. i have never remained food they give me. from then they reduced quantity of food they give me and i dont complain.

Now just this morning am making tea and take 3 spoons of milk in her presence and all hell break loose. she starts shouting and call her husband that even them dont take more than 2 spoons. the man called me later and said it is time for us to part ways.

Am devastated now. i even used my last cash to buy a tin of milk for them. what do i do now? i have no where to go.

People are learning how to be more security conscious and his victims can come out to share their real experience with him.
The reports we are reading is a far cry from the non violent approach he would want the people to believe to whip up sentiment.

I'm disgusted whenever I read comments by some persons lamenting and complaining about the Evans thread. I think such people are questionable characters.

A senior police officer, who arrested kidnap kingpin, Chukwudi Onuamadike, aka Evans, and members of his gang in 2006, shares the encounter with Gbenga Adeniji

How did you meet Evans?

There was a time in 2006 that a gang of robbers attacked a commercial bank in Lagos and went somewhere around the National Arts Theatre, Iganmu, to share the loot. While sharing the loot, the robbers had a disagreement and shot one another. Seven members of the gang died instantly. The then Divisional Police Officer of Iponri Police Station, Yahaya Bello, now a deputy commissioner of police, said there was a serious incident involving some persons who shot at one another. He said about three of them had been arrested.


What happened thereafter?

One of the members of the gang arrested then was Chukwudi Onuamadike, popularly known as Evans. If you look at his chest, I cannot remember whether it is the right or left side, there is a scar. It was as a result of the gunshot from his gang members that day. He bled and there was no way he could run away before the police came. The case was transferred to the Lagos State Anti-Robbery Squad. We investigated and discovered that they were armed robbers. Evans led the team. We also went to Mbidi Police Station, Imo State, to carry out an investigation on them. We were able to arrest two other members of the gang. We then had five of them in police custody.

Were you able to prosecute him?

There was a policewoman at the Band Section of the Police College, Lagos. She was known as Tina, a Superintendent of Police. She insisted that we should drop the case and that Onuamadike (Evans) was her brother. But when she was unable to achieve her aim, she travelled to Imo State. Not long after, we got a message from the Imo State Police Command that they had been searching for Evans and asked us to transfer the case to them so they could continue from where we stopped. Since that time, we did not hear anything. We heard he was later released there.

How did you know that he was the notorious kidnap kingpin arrested by the police not long ago?

I saw his pictures. I know the man we arrested alongside members of his gang in 2006. But one thing was that he was not bearing the alias, Evans, at the time. We identified him only as Chukwudi. Some of the persons we worked together on the case also called me to draw my attention to the fact that he was the one arrested.

I don't know of any case where the Police posed with their suspect or brought out Shayo and were drinking and shooting in the Air outside Africa . In Russia they would have covered his head with a bag and bundled him away. In America they would have cuffed him and escorted him away then the Police will hold a proper press briefing.


Kate is right. The Nigerian Police is very unprofessional and it goes all the way to the top.

They had not even debriefed him after his capture and they were letting him grant press interview. Only in Nigeria do we allow a criminal grant a press interview whilst still in police custody. Even with the way they swamped the guy, if he had managed to free himself from that handcuff and grabbed their weapon, that would have been another story.

Even the Police for yonder wey dey nab high profile terror suspects no dey pose with them. The only time you see such is maybe with the Army during War like when they nabbed Saddam.

The useless Man can't even take criticism.. That is why the guys matter has been the only good news from the Police in over a Month. Whilst he was posing with Evans, Ondo state government official was kidnapped and her bail is 50 million Naira.

- When Saddam was captured in his underground cave, did American soldiers not pose and take pictures with him (unshaven and looking discrepete) at that point of capture?

- When Gadaffi was caught and slaughtered, did the Rebel Soldiers not fire gunshots to "celebrate" his capture and even take pictures with his dead body? (I am sure you will remember that even the then "American Secretary of State", Mrs Hillary Clinton`, during celebration, uttered the infamous words: He came, he saw, He died", referring to Sadam Hussein).

- When Osama Bin Laden was captured, did the American Seals not take pose and photos with him, in his bedroom, ..and even when he was dead and on the American Carrier that purportedly took and buried his body at Sea?

-What about Laurent Gbagbo, when he was captured, did the soldeirs not celebrate and take pictures with him and his rough-handed wife (see pics below)

These are just FOUR examples of "celebrity criminals" who were caught and their captors celebrated their being caught.

I later got to know that the man Mr Atanda collected close to 9 million from other people for same room(there was like 6 rooms in the upper apartment), I was stunned to say the least, we were up to 22 with same receipt, we concluded to report the matter to police station but some of us disagree that we should called the Ijo people (Landlord Association), We called them and they brought some police man which later sent everybody out of the house and lock the whole house including the church that was downstairs in the house, after that we were told to go the police station to make statements, when we got to the station(Orile Iganmu or so), the police started their usual rhetoric. They said they cannot arrest him. I just left the police station with anger and disappointment.


Please if anyone knows how I can reclaim my money. I will so much appreciate it.

The statistics on 2017 UTME malpractice is noteworthy. Most of the affected states are from the South East and South South as follows: Abia (381 cases), Imo (193), Anambra (152), Enugu (114), Cross River (78), Ebonyi (48), Akwa Ibom (44) while the states with the lowest number of cases are from the North viz: Kebbi (1), Kaduna (16), Kano (29), Katsina (2), Kogi (7) Sokoto (25), Taraba (4), Zamfara (1). Yobe and Jigawa states had no reported case of examination malpractice, only 2 cases of multiple registration from the latter. Could it be then that students and CBT operators in the North are more honest than their Southern counterparts, or perhaps less computer savvy? Does the 2017 UTME say anything about national character?

Jamb Registrar: Our deliberations did not cover this particular detail, but the meeting became more exciting when the involvement of parents, particularly mothers, was reported. In one centre, a mother was said to have approached the Chief Examiner to ask him to assist her daughter to pass the examination. The Chief Examiner reportedly told her to leave the examination venue, but she insisted that if the Chief Examiner was ready to help, as requested, she was prepared to pay in kind. The alarmed Professor and Examiner told her it was not part of his function to do what she wanted. The UTME, he said is a merit-based examination.

In another state, an invigilator lured a young lady to the control room with the promise that if she would co-operate with him, he would help her to pass the UTME. Other invigilators caught the two of them and promptly reported the matter. When the young lady’s mother was informed about what had happened, her response was most unusual. She was not willing to press charges, or talk about the scandal. She was in fact not bothered at all. She would rather talk about something else. What did she want? She wanted JAMB to compensate her daughter with additional 10 marks or more, to make up for the sexual harassment. We were all alarmed. Strange things really happen.

Someone then remarked that JAMB should take a decision and ban mothers from following their children to examination centres and all husbands should be advised to keep an eye on wives who will go to any length to mislead their children. Again, the meeting did not concentrate on this delicate subject. But someone made a point: “You see this thing called corruption. It starts from the home. Many parents are setting very bad examples for their children. There is too much desperation in our country. The anti-corruption campaign should start with parents.

Cases are not based on assumptions or sentiments but proofs. People like you CANNOT be judges because you will sentence people based on assumptions and sentiments.

Bro, a suspect's testimony, the victims' testimony and objective and verified evidences are the ONLY things that a criminal legal case CAN be based on. Sentiment or assumptions are not tenable bro. If there's gun in his house, it's simply a case of carrying fire arms without licence. The only issue here is the policeman who died in their kidnap attempt (he wasn't the target, neither did he die in their custody. It was a gun battle)

And what's the problem if a lawyer defends a kidnapper? Everyone has a right to a lawyer. Of course you have a right to freedom of speech as well. Hehehehehe

Let's watch and see. This case will end as life imprisonment. I have said that over and over again. This article was about the kidnapping law, and folks were using it as the basis for death sentence for him. But it obviously isn't the basis because none of his victims "died in their custody" as the law clearly stipulated. The law is VERY explicit. You no need torchlight to read am. LMAO .

I will say it again for the records, this case will end as life imprisonment, not death sentence.

I don't support him or what he did.

But as I'm looking at it, it's obvious that Evans will plead guilty because he said that he wants to die. If he does that, there's every likelihood that he will be sentenced to life imprisonment.

Any person who steals anything, and, at or immediately before or immediately after the time of stealing it, uses or threatens to use actual violence to any person or property in order to obtain or retain the thing stolen or to prevent or overcome resistance to its being stolen or retained, is said to be guilty of robbery.

402. (1) Any person who commits the offence of robbery shall upon conviction be sentenced to imprisonment for not

(2) If-

(a) any offender mentioned in subsection (1) of this section is armed with any firearms or any offensive weapon or any obnoxious or chemical materials or is in company with any person so armed; or

(b) at or immediately before or immediately after the time of robbery, the said offender wounds any person, the offender shall upon conviction be sentenced to death.

403. (1) Any person who with intent to steal anything, assaults any other person and at or immediately after the time of assault, uses or threatens to use actual violence to any other person or any property in order to obtain the thing intended to be stolen shall upon conviction be sentenced to imprisonment for not less than fourteen years but not more than twenty years.

(2) If-

(a) any offender mentioned in subsection (1) of this section, is armed with any firearms or any offensive weapon or is in company with any other person so armed; or

(b) at or immediately before or immediately after the time of the assault the said offender wounds [/b]or uses any other personal violence to any person, the offender shall upon conviction be [b]sentenced to imprisonment for life with or without whipping.

(3) Any person found in any public place in possession of any firearms whether real or imitation and in circumstances reasonably indicating that the possession of the firearms is with intent to the immediate or eventual commission by that person or any other person of any offence under section 402 of this Act shall upon conviction be sentenced to imprisonment for not less than fourteen years nor more than twenty years.

403A. A[b]ny person who conspires with any person to commit an offence under section 402 of this Act whether or not he is present when the offence is committed or attempted to be committed, shall be deemed to be guilty of the offence as a principal offender[/b] and shall be punished accordingly.
