You are equally wrong (no pun intended) for I cannot imagine who is the child or short dude than needs a taller stool to 'attain'. This is the problem that the women folk have to overcome. Women are NOT disadvantaged in anyway by creation. They are not inferior by default for God does not make mistakes Thus they do not need affirmative action. The world is simply not focused in their direction and is not exploiting their potentials, period. It is the world that is losing.

Very True, Women are NOT disadvantaged in nay way ...they are JUST DIFFERENT from Men.
Its that simple.
Just like MEN, Women are UNIQUE in their own way.

What they do with their God-given TALENTS and peculiar attributes, determines their lot in Life, just like Men.
They should STOP asking to be elevated beyond their level, by way of some fiat of Legislation.

No one is losing anything, abeg. Stop trying this 'scare-tactics' undecided

Trust me,all these rules were set by Humans . Not God. It's funny how women naturally see themselves as feeble when everyone was once a woman in the womb. Showing that a small number a men are actually needed for the world to thrive (watch population ratio and gender birth rate). I'm a man too, and if I have a cute wife or girlfriend and I'm allowed to write rules that keep her in check , I'll definitely choose submission over love. Love can get wrinkly over time and fade off. But submission....... go and ask the Israelites what submission was for 400 years. Women have had submission all their lives. Love brings equality,submission is something else shaa( the Bible is filled with self contradicting books).That's why some women wake up everyday to do nothing because they believe it's the guys that provide.

Even God doesn't want your love. It's your submission. .If 99.9% of the human existence can not keep up with this ...... How do you think women can stay submissive.

I have my own creation story, eve came first, before Adam, if Adam was on the earth first, the snake would have tested him first and he'll be more experienced and know not to eat the fruit since he spent a long while naming and receiving first hand rules from God.

Everything is all in the head.

Eve was actually smarter and more experienced showing she was more like a mother or a bigger figure to him. The Story was cooked up by Man.

Can we have a copy of your own Bible as well?

Very True!

Equality is not something to be GIVEN, as women want it handed-over to them.

If they must have EQUALITY, then they have to PROVE that they deserve it (just like Men have proven over past generatins that they are better),and after PROVING they deserve it, they can then TAKE IT.

What l see are women trying to cheat their way up, whining about something they dont deserve and trying to force it by FIAT of LEGISLATION, using some other misguided "she-Men", in the process.
Everyone respects you and elevates you, when it is apparent that you are BETTER, or at least EQUAL.

On the other hand, EVERYONE, Women, Men, Male, Female, deserve EQUITY.
The act of "fair treatment", something which l even think Men are at a disadvantage!
Men are punished for things women also do but get away with or just given a slap on the wrist!
So, it is men that need to be treated FAIRLY, to ensure EQUITY!

What I think they desire amongst many things is to be treated equally at work, in the home, etc. In terms of opportunity, equal pay for equal work, discrimination based on gender and on and on. While other countries maximise the potentials God has given both sexes we are like a 4 cylinder engine having two blown plugs. How can you possibly keep up in the race of life.

This again, brings us to the basic question of whether the GENDER are "The SAME and EQUAL"?
If something is "the same", then it is easy to "assume it is equal" and therefore, it is also easy to assume that what we will get from such "same thing", in terms of performance, will the same and thus, attract "equal remnumeration/pay".

Before l go into details, l watched a Video of the opening of a Shopping Plaza in Dubai recently.
As an "opening bonanza", the owner declared a "freebie" for everyone on the first day of opening, for just one hour! Just one hour, all you can eat shopping. grin

In the Video,
*Women stormed the Dresses and Jewellery sections, carted away the garments, Wristwatches, Necklaces, shoes and other body adornments. Mostly things that are "consumables" in nature.

*The Men on the other hand, stormed the Electronics and Household items section, carting away the Computers, TV's, Drones, Tools, and the likes. Mostly things that are productive in nature.

At the review of the bonanza, the owner worried why there was such a discrepancy in the choices of each GENDER?
Specialists then were invited to analyse the "choices" of each gender, based on what they chose.

Summary was that each gender is radically different in the way they "think and make choices".
This re-enforces the medical research that shows that the Female gender uses a different part of the brain (more) while the Male uses a different part more.
Ofcourse. we know that the brain is our Central Processing Unit and takes care of our real life choices.

Bottom line: Male and Female Gender DONT THINK OR ACT ALIKE!
Thus, as expected, their "productivity", which is governed by every-minute choices they make, is NEVER THE SAME.

The next obvious question will then be: Who makes "better choices that are more "productive"?... and should therefore earn a higher remnumeration?

The honest answer lies in the hand of the Employer, who by virtue of his position, "sees and appreciates who does what and do it more", in his organisation. He pays for it, mind you. undecided

And let me remind you, that the "employers" are both Male and Female....and in most, if not all cases, such employer will tend to pay a Male more, than the female! (So, you cant shout "favouritism" here!).

The employer thinks the "Male gender" is "OVERALL, MORE PRODUCTIVE" in his/her organisation, than his Female Gender counterpart......and therefore, is willing to PAY MORE, for his services.
This is a "fact of life" that needs to beating down.

If we "dig into the mind" of the employer, just like the owner of the Dubai shopping Plaza, we would realise that once gain, it all boils down to the GENDER DIFFERENCE/INEQUALITY of how each gender "thinks and act".
What each gender counts as priority and thus focuses on!
Overtime, repetition in certain jobs, by particular Gender, has led to specialisation and efficiency, as we all learn from Economics 101.

We can also agree that the FEMALE gender is also better (then the male) at certain 'jobs/chores' due to how they think and act, as controlled by the part of their brain which they engage!
There are jobs where everyone would prefer a woman to do, and thus pay her better for it, than a male counterpart. For example, most HR heads are Women and they get paid for it.

Men have become more "specialised and efficient" in certain jobs (than women) and thus, are entitled to more pay than women (who are less specialised and efficient in that area), while Women have also become more specialised and efficient than Men, in certain jobs and are entitled to higher pay than Men in such Jobs.

So, basically, Women want to "FORCE, BY LEGISLATION or FIAT", to be paid that which they are "not entitled to or qualified for"!
They want to force even fellow Women, to pay them more, for PERFORMANCE which another fellow Female Employer understands that, they are less productive on, compared to their MALE counterpart! shocked

So, when you say "fair deal", l say we live in a democracy, Business owners and the work place is democratic enough to the point of appreciating that PROFIT needs to be MAXIMISED in a Capitalist System and as such, the Employer would pay highest, to anyone who he/she thinks would give them the HIGHEST RETURNS IN TERMS OF PERFORMANCE...... and up till now, the MALE GENDER have proved to provide the highest Return on Investment, for the employer, hence paying them higher than their female gender is just "basic and normal".

If women want more money, they would have to Up their game, to the point where the employer will appreciate their "performance" and reward them accordingly for it.
Trying to do ti by "fiat of legislation" is an act of weakness, cheating and inferiority complex.
Its like using "performance enhancing drugs', as an athlete, you wont ever command the required respect, among your peers.

Okay, let me use your analogy:
Different Tools, offer and contribute different "capacity" to the work at hand.
That is the simple reason WHY they cost different prices! undecided

The PRICE of an item, has always been an indication of HOW MUCH VALUE the BUYER attaches to it.
So, YES, l don treat all my tools the same way. They cost more than each other! They produce "more value" than one another in the achievement of the "ultimate objective".
The same way, an employer values one employee, more than another!
But in the end, l still take care of all the Tools, because they "work together" to produce that chair l want achieved.
That is, they are complimentary to each other.

The same way, a Husband and a Wife, are complimentary to each other in a marriage.
But even in that "marriage", the "Tools are still different (GENDER), the Tools are still not EQUAL (GENDER) but the Tools work together in a complimentary manner, based on certain "rule and guidelines" (Submission, Respect, Love) to achieve the desired objective of a well-made chair (Marital Bliss) , for example.

The "Sexes or GENDER" are created to be different (UNEQUAL), that was the "intention and the purpose", so that they can complement each other.
Any deviation from that, is trying to make a reality of the absurd.

I concur with some of what you are saying but my understanding about gender equality discussions in Nigeria is a large population of our people is yet to understand the real meaning of what gender equality debate is all about.

Why is it so difficult for the proponents of this "Gender Equality in Nigeria" to please EDUCATE US NIGERIANS, about what it means, that is different from what we understand it to mean? angry

Why cant you ladies just break it down to simple vernacular, if you think we Nigerians dont understand the "turainshi" (grammar) with which it is written abroad? grin

Or is it that most of you are actually clueless about what you are blindly following, simply because it is trending overseas?

I am asking because l want us to "break it down" so that Nigerians can understand it.

Please stop spreading the wrong teaching that the Bible never commanded women to love their husbands. I have heard this teaching and I know it is false. I guess it was one Pastor that came up with this teaching and then others have sheepishly regurgitated it just like the teaching that since God gave wife to Adam and it thereafter brought trouble into the world God has stopped giving wives to men. You are so mixed-up!
To every statement, there is what is called CONTEXT.
It is the "context", that gives "actual meaning", to a statement.

For clarity, let me use a common example:
My friend who is Caucasian, can call me a "Nigga" while we are having a banter, and l would not take offence ...simply because of the "context" (banter)
Now, if another Caucasian person gets annoyed and calls me the same "Nigga", l will take offence......... because of the difference in "context".

The Context of your biblical Quotes above, are different from that of which we are talking about here.
Also, an "Admonition" is different from a "Command".

An "admonition" is only "obligatory" in performance. you dont commit an offence, when you dont obey or follow it. It is only given for your own good.

A "Command" on the other hand is MANDATORY in performance, you MUST OBEY it and you commit an offence, if you dont perform it.

Finally, "Commands" like LAWS, take precedence over "Admonitions", because they are "Mandatory" while admonitions are only "Obligatory".

Now, back to your Biblical quotes, WIVES are "COMMANDED" to be "Submissive to and Respectful of" their Husbands.
That is a Command and it is Mandatory. It is not obligatory!

Let me quickly point out here that this "command" does not apply to ALL WOMEN!
It applies ONLY to Women who have elected to be the "WIFE" to a certain man called their HUSBAND.
This implies that "as a woman" (or Female gender), you are not under any command to be "submissive and respectful" to any Man, unless you have elected him to be your Husband, and you his wife, by that "solemn act of marriage".
This "command" applies ONLY within the institution of Marriage.
Let us be very clear on this.

To "LOVE" one another or Love your "Husband and children"..... so that the word of God will not be maligned, is an "admonishment" for a particular purpose, as evident in the phrase you quoted.

The kind of Love being implied here is a "general type" of love (CONTEXTUAL) and yo can see that Kids, God, Neighbours and all others are "blanketly-included" within the phrase.
These is why l said "context" is very important here.

Same reason why l said "submission and being respectful of" your husband is a 'command', taking precedence over the "Loving your husband", ... which is an admonition, taking 'second place' and only effective ....when the 'command' is obeyed first
You cant disobey a "command" while claiming to obey an "admonition"! . undecided

How can you even "love" your husband, if you are not initially submissive and respectful of him or to put it in the 'corollary', ....if you are "aggressive with, and disrespectful, of him"?

Any "wife" that is "submissive and respectful" of her Husband, is already "loving" the husband!
"Love for the husband" is already "subsumed" in that phrase ..........."be Submissive and respectful" of your husband.

Dont rush, just meditate properly on what l have written...before you comment about it further.

"Genders" are created "DIFFERENT" because they are supposed to be COMPLIMENTARY ....so, the issue of "EQUALITY or BEING EQUAL", does not even arise!

As a Man, l can as well marry another Man, if l think he would compliment me (to provide that which l lack, while l provide that which 'he' lacks, for a better Union) in a Marriage but that is "distasteful, pervert and not possible" because we are of EQUAL and SAME GENDER.

So, l marry a Woman instead, because she will COMPLIMENT ME (and we become complimentary to each other) in a Marriage.
And for all intent and purposes, my life would never be this "beautiful", without the complimentary effect of my own wife! Ditto her own life too.

Some Women should get out of this "combative and inferiority mentality" and see/appreciate how important they are, as a WOMAN, a female GENDER, very DIFFERENT and therefore NOT EQUAL but UNIQUE, from that of the MALE GENDER.

Women are just as important as the Men. Both need each other for "Optimal living and Life".
But they are still different and unequal.

There is no superiority Fight.

When it comes to marriage, where they both agree to marry (for mutual benefit), then the WIFE MUST be respectful and Submissive to the Husband, while the HUSBAND in-turn, MUST LOVE his WIFE, 'as' an object to be treasured, cared for and protected at all cost, even to his life!

So, looking at it from that angle, it is a win-win situation for both Man and Woman, that requires no "aggression and the kind of fight" that all these feminazzi are trying to force on everyone.

I salute those Women who have sen the Wisdom of being "Women" and the foolishness of trying to be Men or what they are not!

Look, instead of all these "sighing and whining", what l think you should do is "Educate Us' on what gender Equality is all about, or what it is you know that we have not heard before, about gender equality.

Gender is and can never be equal.
Gender is either male or female, they are DIFFERENT from each other and therefore NOT EQUAL.

It does not translate to one gender, being better than the other, ....it just means they are DIFFERENT (not the same!)

It does not mean one gender should Lord it over the other or one should feel superior to the other but when they both agree to be HUSBAND and WIFE, then, like as in any "Association" there are RULES and GUIDELINES, imposed for the smooth running of such "Association"..

One of such rules is that whichever of the two "unequal and different gender" mutually agrees and decides to be the Wife, MUST be "Submissive and respectful" of whichever of the two "unequal and different gender" they have mutually agree will be the HUSBAND.

Its as simple as that.

Marriage is not by force and not everyone should marry, if you know you dont have the temperament and ability to abide by "rules and guidelines" of marriage, then by all means please remain independent and unmarried. It is allowed..

Anyway, l await the "education" from Women like you who want to teach us about Gender Equality.

And please, while at it, as is often the case, dont "surreptitiously" muddle it with "Girl-child education" (l know that for example, more girls are educated than Boy-child in the Eastern part of Nigeria where the illiteracy level among the Boy-child is alarming but nothing is being said or done about it) or Child delivery or other issues that needs addressing themselves but not under "Gender Equality' because they have nothing to do with "equality of gender"

Even a 7yr old knows what the problem of this country is...and it is always in the NEWS daily - CORRUPTION

The only reason these foreigners get away with what they do is because we have a very corrupt Police and Judicial System (Judges) who take MONEY in exchange for JUSTICE.

And funnily, it is the same Igbo people who support all the corrupt practices in this country, practice the most evil in this country and fight, tooth-and-nails, to sabotage every effort of the Government of today, to fight corruption.

You cant be supporting Corruption on one hand and on the other hand, complaining about the EFFECTS of Corruption!
Igbos need to do a soul-searching because they have become an embarrassment not just to Nigeria alone (and the name Biafra) but to the whole world at large.

The government should have be a peace maker rather than been a home destroyer by taken him to court and still insisting on having interest in the case. Is that how those government officers could have acted if their son or daughter were involved in such domestic brawl?. African society have mechanism for solving marital brawl. Theirs is not the first of such problem witnessed in our communities. There are traditional way of solving such problem without involving court. If their own children were involved, they would have result to inviting elders in both sides, religion leaders, committee of friends and so on to solve the problem rather than going to court. The government seems to be crying more than the bereaved. I have seen situations worse than theirs and yet the couple still reconciled when peace makers intervened. We should remember that their child is a connecting rod between them and Yoruba says that a marriage market which has produce a child will continue to blossom. Thank God mercy is still using her wedding ring despite the intrusion of government satanic agents.

It really takes some experienced and matured, to make a post like the above.
Some here are mixing too many things together, from the feminazzis, to the Men-haters, to those who are still nursing some broken relationship, to those trying to push an agenda, to friends of the husband's former wife, e.t.c.....bottom line is that they've a;; gone into overdrive!

Those with a little sense know that every altercation between husband and wife MUST NOT and should not lead to the complete destruction of one of the parties.
Obviously, there are "behind the scenes" players in this Mercy and Gentry case.
I do not pity the guy because he is obviously not "smart" at all and he has not learnt anything from his previous broken marriage but even at that, he should not be used a s a scape-goat.

No one cane claim that when Husband and wife fight, the Wife's hand is usually tied behind her back while the husband pummels her!

Mr. Gentry should ...and could also counter-sue the wife for assault and battery and both cases heard simultaneously.
The Courts would now decide, not some Govt functionary with an axe to grind.

If we start from the role of any thrid party in a marriage altercation, the first DUTY is to make PEACE.
Even in a divorce proceedings, a Judge will still ask the parties to GO BACK and TRY to WORK THINGS OUT, the Judge will only dissolve the marriage if and when bith parties fail to work things out, after been given that option.

Govt has no business siding one party against the other.

It is actually stewpid, for anyone whose Husband is alive, to call herself a Widow, there are phrases like Separated, Divorcee, Miss, Single lady, e.t.c that can conveniently describe her situation, unless she is saying she wishes him DEAD.
And for a Govt of the day to call her (with a living Husband) a WIDOW AMBASSADOR, shows the level of idiocy of the people giving her such role.

You just have to reason properly, to understand the folly of her position and the sense in what Gentry just said.

Anyone, Male of female, who runs their mouth at, and VERBALLY ASSAULTS another person stronger than them during an altercation, is looking for a broken Skull..... the alternative is to try to DE-ESCALATE the situation first, after which you can take further actions of your liking.
