Estharfabian:
Exactly. gender Equity is Condescending to the female folks.

what Equity simply means:
Because the Female gene is handicapped by Sheer nature. females are Second fiddle to men, Sub-humans and So must be aided to reach Human Status.

Gender Equality: Give them equal Opportunities, let Nature decide their strengths.
You are a dunce, seriously!
You are just so mixed-up you are talking rubbish. Why dont you use a Dictionary first, before defining nonsense?

The above is an example of what we are talking about!

What manner of a FEMALE, says "Women are handicapped by nature"?
Is that not a defeatist mentality in itself?

Any woman that sees herself as "naturally handicap" by nature, will never achieve anything meaningful in life because on each occasion when her mates are working hard, facing challenges and surmounting them, all she sees and thinks in her brain is that "she is naturally handicapped and therefor cannot measure-up".
This is called the "Blame mentality
" - You blame others for your failures and point fingers, instead of accepting responsibility lik emen do, buckle up and move-up the ladder.

A woman like the above are the types that are waiting for the Job to be dropped on their lap, for them to be promoted in an office because they have Boobs and some hairs between the leg, to have the same salary and position as that hard-working male..... because hey,., they can blame every failure and inadequacy of theirs on NATURE! grin grin

- Can a man carry pregnancy for 9months?
- Can he even eat food and remain constipated for just 9days?
- Do Men breastfeed babies?
Are these not one "immeasurable advantages" of women over men, one which they use to the fullest in terms of relationship with their children?

Or have we not heard women tell their children and even threaten them about "if not in this my stomach you were conceived or if not this my Bosom you suckle for x.y.z years"? ...just to soften the child and make him/her bend to their wishes?

Please all women in the house, whether you are for or against "Quota System" in form of Gender Equalization.... tell this woman to wake up and smell the coffee!
Tell her to stop calling you HANDICAPED BY NATURE!
Why would an employer want to chose a "handicap by nature", to head a very important aspect of their business?

Men too can claim that their "3rd leg" is a "handicap of nature" if they want to be mentally lazy! (it hardens when they least expect it and causes wahala grin ).
But hey, intelligent and smart people dont focus on their weakness, they maximise their strengths and develop their weakness!

"A very Bad Farmer is know to blame his Hoe and Cutlass". undecided undecided

Honestly, this discourse is getting putrid and debasing, it s about time we allow the "handicapped" folks to console themselves.
The intelligent and successful women are having a ball while the handicaps are plotting on how they can get their "Quota System"! grin grin

Lord have mercy! grin grin

For the avoidance of doubt, below is the Dictionary definition of Equity

Giel: the state of equal access to resources and opportunities regardless of gender
The above is the correct and succinct definition of FAIRNESS and JUSTICE for all (irrespective of Gender).... and l support it 100%.

So, let me start listing a few instances where such "equal access to opportunities" are ALREADY IN PLACE for everyone, proving that this Gender Equality Movement is a SCAM!

- Driving:Anyone, Male or Female can get a driving license, can buy any vehicle and can drive it, in Nigeria. True of False?

- Ownership of property: Anyone, male or female is allowed to own property, under Nigerian laws. True of False?

- Engaging in Work, for a living: Ditto, true of False

- Free choice of Job: Every human, male or female, has the inalienable right to say this is the work l want to do. True of False

- Right to Education: Every child or adult, male or female, has the right to go to school (free education never discriminated against any gender) True or False?

- Right to Inheritance: Under Nigerian Law, every Child irrespective of Gender, has the right to inherit their parents, when they die, based ofc, on the Wishes of the dead parent. True of False?

- Right to own bank Account: Every adult (and even kids), irrespective of Gender, has the right to own a bank account and own money therein - True of False?
- Universal Adult suffrage: Every Nigerian Adult, irrespective of Gender, has the right to vote, to contest elections and be voted for. True or false?
- Divorce: Every adult in Nigeria, IRRESPECTIVE OF GENDER, has the right to chose their partner, marry them (within laws) and seek a divorce, if they are not happy with their spouse. True of False?

I can go on forever but if you have more, you can add to it.
But please do answer True of False, to my posers.

Now, l am wondering what else, the female Gender still requires, that it still needs a "separate law" to empower them to do, that they cant already do now, under existing laws.

The truth is that "feminists/Feminazzi/Women Equality advocates/etc" have a different Definition and agenda, when it comes to what they "coyishly" call GENDER EQUALITY. It has nadda to do with gender Equality because as of today, both Gender have EQUAL ACCESS to ALL OPPORTUNITIES, as long as they are WILLING, CAPABLE and READY for such opportunity.

This is where the difference lie.
Some Women are desirous of all opportunity (like some men too) but are either mentally incapable, physically incapable, UNWILLING to pay the price nor make the Sacrifice or are just NOT READY to take it Up.

It is such calibre of Women, who now think that WHAT these (Men and Women) have achieved, through dint of hard-work, display plus harness of intelligence and determination, MUST BE HANDED OVER to them, through the use of "SET QUOTAS", under the guise of GENDER EQUALITY.

Mind you, they would never admit that, this is what they are gunning for
, Even the Devil will not admit he is Satan the Devil (Have you ever wondered why the "male gender" is used for the Devil? grin grin ...but Men have no time to complain anyway undecided)

If GENDER EQUALITY was just as straight forward as saying "We want everyone, male and Female, to have EQUAL ACCESS to EVERY OPPORTUNITY..... No sane person will be against that.

So many things have been "surreptitiously lumped inside" this Gender Equality agenda, since day one.
Homosexuality was the last one l recall.

Just read what your "fans" have written over the past few pages of this thread.

Some want a situation where when they go into a marriage (knowing what the "rules of association are", before going into it) and then use such marriage as a "hook" on the throat of their husband. I have always said it is not by force to be married (man or woman), no one can force you to marry. if they sigh and eye, you just ignore them.
But when you marry, you must be ready to conform to the norms of such marriage...and even if you decide against it mid-way, just LEAVE and go your way.
But we we are seeing are women who want to ruin the man and take all he laboured, using marriage as a tool. This to them is GENDER EQUALITY!
The right to emasculate men and reduce them to whimpering animals.

But this, you wont here them state openly.

I have read the "Equal gender Bill" rejected by the National Assembly and such are the manipulations contained there-in.

I wont go into too much details herein because l think all we need to say, have been said about this issue and everyone just needs to be on the alert!
For the few men who are smart enough to read in-between the lines, we know that we have made ourselves the Mortal enemy of the lazy, reap-where- you-did-not-sow women. grin grin grin Nothing spoil, we dey Kampe! undecided

We also know that the very few Women, whose hardwork, pace-setting intelligence, persistence, versatility and confidence have taken them to the very top, detest these band of women who think just because they are Females, they deserve to be treated to an undeserved Quota system that elevates them beyond their level. Those are the kind of women we celebrate.

Let those who think just because they have a Bosom and some hairs between their legs, keep shouting "Gender Quota System", if they think that is enough to make them collect the same salary with a man who has proved himself worthy of what he earns, in the eyes of even his female employer, then O.Y.O

If there is any way, the Female gender has been denied 'Equal Access" to an Opportunity that a Male/Man has as a result of the Man working hard for it, showing intelligence and perseverance, then state it and l will be the first person to champion it for the female gender.

Dont just point to the opportunity a man has, DWELL ON HOW HE GOT IT OR GOT THERE and REPLICATE whatever he had to do, to get it. undecided undecided

Then it is yours as well.

OPPORTUNITY, IS FOR THE PREPARED. BE PREPARED
WOMEN SHOULD BE PREPARED, so to say

Daboomb
"I think" I understand you a little better now, you disregard gender equality because you think that the people that want gender equality want it just because they want things handed to them just for the fact that they are female. That is not gender equality nor is it the purpose of gender equality.

I've been wondering why you've been hovering around this thread attacking almost everyone who believes in gender equality.

By the way, I hope you know that your definition of equity is the same as the definition of gender equality?

Definition of gender equality from Wikipedia
Gender equality, also known as sexual equality, is the state of equal access to resources and opportunities regardless of gender. It is achieved through gender neutrality and gender equity,

so what's the problem with gender equality? why trying so hard to rubbish it?

as for you comment to me on marriage, everyone's marriage is what they make it to be.

Try and reply me without insults and your "whining and sighing" speech.
First things, first!
That your advice should be reserved for your fellow feminist....if you whine, l will reply you with exactly that, so let us clear the air on that and get it behind us, from day one.

Again, l bet you think you are responding to Lilliputs like yourself therefore, you coat insult and condescending language (as ll have highlighted in your post) and fling them towards me! Dead On Arrival, you hear!

Dont you ever in your effing life use such words with me.

He made it clear that none of his victims died in his custody. I've been following this case carefully, so I can tell without bating an eyelid that this is simply life imprisonment, not death sentence as most people are thinking. As for the police man who died in the kidnap attempt, any good lawyer can beat that off because he made it clear that he himself doesn't carry guns but the gang members. He's more like the CEO.

It's only in Nigeria that if one is looking at a criminal from a different perspective he will be seen as being part of the crime.

If I were to be a lawyer, I would have loved to flex my legal muscles small by taking up a case like this. The thing dey sweet wella.grin grin grin

I knew this post was a "Kite" being flown by some supporters of Evans the Kidnapper. (Mr. Chukwudi Onwuamadike, a native of Nnewi, Anambra State, in the South East of Nigeria).

Fearlez:
Another Evans opportunistic thread seeking cheap publicity. A misleading title and old statute already passed by the Lagos state house of assembly.
Gov. Ambode is not just signing the Bill into law today, it has been done since! Long before Evans and his gang were captured

If you notice, you will see that the poster did not STATE THE DATE the Governor of Lagos State, signed the Bill into Law!
The plan was to plant doubt in the mind of Nigerians, that the law was just signed and as such, will not apply to Evans.
They will then start to mount pressure on our Judiciary, to spare Evans, claim the law cannot be applied retroacively, as already being claimed by "Family of Kidnappers"!

He wont be the first and he wont be the last.

Below is a quote from one of the victims of Evans, after collecting a whooping $1,000,000 from him, only to threaten his wife and daughter and collected another $200,000!
Making a total of One Million, Two Hundred thousand Dollars! From one single person!!
shocked shocked angry angry

The victim, who requested not to be named because he did not want publicity, said he paid a total of $1.2 million to Evans and not $1 million as being reported.

“He collected 1.2 (million dollars) from me, not 1 million he’s writing,” the victim, who was among the several people kidnapped by Evans in the FESTAC area, told PREMIUM TIMES in an exclusive interview.
“Because when he released me, there was an imposed understanding between me and him, the day he was releasing me, he said the money my wife gave him, that like 200,000 was old money, that they did not collect it from her, and that the money must be complete. I told him let him release me let me to go and look for the money,” he agreed.

“After one month, he started calling me, he now told me about my son and where my daughter is working and that if I don’t give him the money he’ll come after me. Rather than go through that trauma again, I sent that money to him at Queen’s Suite ( a hotel in Awka, Anambra State)
.”
Anyone in support of this bunch of criminals, needs to be identified and PUBLICLY STONED.
All the lies Evans and his wife has been cooking in other to escape Justice, has fallen apart.
Infact, his Mother, Father, Wife and Brothers all knew and tacitly participated, supported and financially benefited from this criminal kidnaping Enterprise and they should all get Life Imprisonment, while Evans and his immediate gang MUST ALL get the Death Penalty.

Anything less, we shall look for Evans and make sure he gets PUBLIC Justice: DEATH and no less.

AyeeIdris:
Ofcourse especially in Nigeria. We may have the right to vote and work now but we are still being held back in the name of "culture". A woman is viewed as a failure no matter how much she has achieved if she is not married. Even though the failure rate of Nigerian marriages is at a whooping 45.92 % in 2012 ( I handled a lot of divorce cases back in the day so this is a high Court statistics). In some cases, we earn less than men for doing the exact same positions. Women are not considered for top military positions even though it is seen as per other advanced countries that women can hold their own on the battle field. Many brilliant military strategists have been the wives of legendary conquerors over history but they are always relegated to the back. For me, the issue of 'bride price' in Nigeria is a major source of concern. Because instead of the average man to see their wife as the girl that they wooed and asked to marry and spend their life with them as supportive partner; they end up seeing the girl as someone they have bought and paid for( even if the bride price is miniscule). They become lord and master and claim to have religious backings. They expect the wife to bury her dreams and aspiration and raise their kids instead of striving to create a balance where both of them can attain a level of personal fulfilment. I could go on and on but I think these are some of the modern day needs for feminism. Feminism no be feminazi. I think there is where many men get it twisted. Feminazi want control or superiority. feminists want equity. equal treatment for equal work done.
Some of You Women, just like the SNAKE, are so Calculating, Manipulative and Surreptitiously Deceptive!
You are adept at spreading falsehood
. angry angry
And When caught-out, you change the goal-post and then twist the conversation.

Grace Alele Williams, just like Funmi Ransome Kuti (the first Nigerian Woman to drive a vehicle), did not need any GENDER EQUALITY QUANGO, to achieve their success. They were educated by their Parents (Mother and Father), after which, through hardwork, diligence, persistence and a LARGE AMOUNT OF INTELLIGENCE, gradually rose through the ranks until they got to the Top.

The richest Woman in Africa, Mrs Alakija, was not held down by anybody, but she worked hard and became what she is today.
The "Imafidon family" has Male and female members that were so brilliant and super-successful, that they were mentioned in the Guinness Book of records!
They did not ask for gender Equality because they know that they only need to be intelligent, hardworking and persistent, to achieve their goal in life.

Just like Women, not too far back, MEN too, the black man, could not vote in America. So, it is not only women that could not vote.
It was NOT a gender issue and it did not take Gender Equality farce, for them to achieve Universal suffrage.
There are many successful , single Women all over the place, how anyone views them, is the person's "problem of perception".
Dont use that as an 'excuse" to propagate Gender Equality.

It is ingenious to even attribute marriage failure to men! It takes to (Man and Woman) to marry and to divorce.
Blaming it in men is an example of the level of deceit in women like you.

Success of Men on the battle field or in any endeavour of life, is a result of demonstrated intelligence, resilience, persistence, hard work and long suffering. Men EARNED it.
They have no "body-parts" to give in exchange for it or use as a bargaining chip

Some Women too have "earned" it, using the same attributes and methods but majority of your likes, always want to "GET IT", instead of EARNING it!
You want it GIVEN to you, through whining and pushing forward your bosoms and V-shape!
Sorry, that is Dead on Arrival.

There are Women who earn more than a lot of men, simply because they are more productive and the Organisations VALUES their contributions, more than that of those men, so they get paid better.
I am sure you wont wail about "Gender Equality" for those men.
grin grin

Same way, there are Men which the Organisation values their productivity more than that of similar Women and hence, pays them more.
But lazy-azz Women who think because they have a bossom and a V-thing, think they must be treated "specially" and given what they do not deserve. Sorry, you are on a long thing.

Did you get to where you said you are, in that Dubai construction company, using "bottom power and Female leg-ups" and do not deserve to be there. You know yourself. undecided

Men are better and would always remain better, in certain things, especially those that require a lot "physical abilities".
On a daily basis, l hear military top-brass complain about a situation where a female military officer could "not perform to par", due to the arrival of her monthly Period... grin grin
Whose fault is or how is it a Man's fault that when she cant be deployed simply because she is rolling on the ground due to tummy or lower abdomen discomfort? shocked undecided huh
Whose fault is it that less people watch the Female World Cup (compared to the standard and normal World Cup) and thus, generate less viewing rights, less sponsorship as a result of that viewing audience which then means that FIFA makes less money from it (infact, the World Cup is used to subsidise the Female World Cup!) and as a result of all these FACTS, they Women Team gets less Money from FIFA.

I am sure we have all watched them at one stage or the other and felt like doing something more engaging and worthwhile. grin grin
But Women will still say "gender Equality payment" irrespective of whether the organisation is running at a loss because of their femininity!

That is absolute rubbish, uneconomical bullshyte and irrational expectation.

Women and their "double speak"!

Many Men would prefer not to pay Bride Price but it is the same gender (Their Mothers! ) that insists on it
They always want to profit where they should not be profiting!
Thus, paying bride price has become a "Cultural thing", an obligation to the "old folks", just to make them happy and satisfied.
It has NOTHING to do with what goes on or happens in a marriage afterwards.
Bride price-paid marriages fail, those ones where the bride price was not paid also collapse....and vice-versa.
So, stop impugning useless reasons into a failed argument.

EQUITY is when everyone (irrespective of Gender), is given the same opportunity to be whatever they want to be in life.
No one stops women from becoming whatever they want to be in life, except their level of intelligence, will power, resilience and innate abilities.
Men too face the same challenges and many Men have failed to meet the cut, to be thrown by the wayside and labelled the failures that they are.
Why should it be different with women? Because they have Bosoms and V-within their leg?
Well, those men too have a long thing within their legs so what is so special and different with the women?

Many have come to realise that the only group of women that seek to dubiously confuse and surreptitiously use the farce that "Gender Equality" is, to try to achieve "that which they do not deserve", are those that are mentally lazy, unintelligent, insecure, weak and generally below average.

The Enterprise is a place were "performance is rewarded according to contribution", even when a Woman is the head and CEO who decides who gets what
.
She wont throw her profit at a less productive employee, just because they share the same Gender, on the alter of "Female Quota".
She is smart enough to know that it makes sense to reward-more, those who produce more, because that is how she herself, got and made it to the top.

Trying to separate feminazzi, feminist, Gender Equality, gender Quota, Feminism e.t.c, which are the same thing coloured in different "semantical garb" but which still nothing more than "trying to give to most women, what they did not achieve and therefore do not deserve", is further demonstration of the surreptitious, deceitful and manipulative nature of Women proponent of such discredited effort.

Women who stand-out in their chosen field, will always be rewarded according, applauded and appreciated, not based on their gender but on their intelligence and achievements, which they are proud to brandish.

The "i-get-breast and V-thing" types will always be looked down for what they are: Usurpers and undeserving of any respect in the Human fields of endeavour.

@Daboomb
Thanks for the complement
Firstly, a tenant-at-will is a person who is in occupation of a real property (land) owned by another until such time as the landlord gives notice of termination of the tenancy.

As much as I'm not very clear with the first question, I perceive you are interested in the legal implication of the insertion "fixed and certain". It means both the landlord and tenant have specifically agreed to the particular amount as rent i.e. neither of the parties can claim more or less than that.

And in respect of the fact that it is a yearly tenancy, it means the rent is "fixed and certain" for the period of one year the tenancy subsists.

Note that after one (1) year that the tenancy has been terminated by effluxion of time, the tenant will now become a tenant-at-will until he is given notice by the landlord to leave. The notice is usually a 7days notice of intention to recover possession.
Thanks very much for the time and effort you put in responding to and posting these legal issues.

In the above explanation, please correct me if l got you wrong:

1.) - The Housing Agreement stating "fixed and certain" means the both parties have a fixed amount (MONEY?) agreed as rent for the House?
2.) - Does that "certainty" to amount paid, also apply to "duration of the tenancy", concurrently?

3.) - Does it also mean that the DURATION of the tenancy is FIXED (say, One year as on the agreement) and "Non-Automatically Renewable" after that One Year, ........as will be normally obtainable with most Rent Agreements where, after the initial one year payment, the tenant only just need to forward the next years rent, to continue occupation (assuming no issues of disagreement has arisen)?

4.)- Does the above confirm or re-enforces the after One year termination of the Agreement, due to the effluxion of time, as explained above in your post?

Please dont take offence, l am only trying to ensure that l am not mis-interpreting (to my own limited understanding), your reply.
Like good student, l always try to repeat what my teacher says and let him confirm that l actually understood right.

Thanks you, once again.

Please, at a later time when you can,, l will like you to delve into a situation where a company is repairing a road.

In the process, the company blocked off certain parts and narrowed the dual lane road to a single lane.
Thus, both vehicles travelling in opposite directions, have to share a single lane.
The Company did put a sign diverting traffic into the single lane, from both ends
The Company did not install "Caution Signs", did not install Traffic Control Lights nor did it assign Human Traffic Warden/managers at the spot.
Eventually, two vehicles collided because each one thought they have the right of way, on the single lane they now shared.
People were injured.
There was a big argument about where the liability lies
- The Drivers claimed they followed the diversion sign but there were No STOP Sign or Traffic light or Warden, telling them when to Stop.
- Company said accident was due to Drivers not being in Control of their Vehicle at all times, They should have waited for each other to pass.

What would be the position of the Law in this matter?

Actually gender equality is more of a romantic notion. In the true sense of it, gender equality doesn't advocate for 'equal' opportunities for women, it advocates for women to be allowed to enjoy privileges that men enjoy without necessarily 'earning' it the way men do. By giving a girl a job that requires brainpower because she was more intelligent than the other applicants, the employer has given both genders equal opportunities and one won on merit, but giving a job to a girl that is less suited for the job than other male applicants to meet up with a 'gender quota' is not gender equality, it is giving ladies preferential treatment to afford them the opportunity to enjoy certain privileges. It works the same way as the quota system in which northerners are given 'slots' or given preferential treatment that allows them to occupy positions that they might not have gotten based on merit. I prefer the term female empowerment, because what's at play is basically an attempt to ensure that space is created for women to occupy positions in different capacities, in a bid to reduce their 'subjugation' or dependency on the mercy of men. That's why female politicians pay less to secure tickets to contest under their parties, that's why women aren't expected to keep up with their male counterparts during military training, because the truth is that gender equality would only apply in cases that require only brainpower as an edge to females securing such positions, because factoring in physical strength, societal conceptions about power belonging in the male domain, logical business considerations (pregnant women/mums not being focused or giving the job their all) etc, men would likely still get the jobs even if women were allowed to contest for them and they were expected to do better than men to be chosen over them, unless of course the job itself is better suited to women.
PS
Op was actually talking about how women and men are not the same physiologically, mentally and psychologically. On a side note, in an ideal world gender equality shouldn't be mentioned in marriages. I believe in marrying for love and I believe when a guy marries a girl he loves, the issue of her being used like a slave won't come up. But the world is far from ideal, isn't it?
Very sound arguments and reasoning.
Gender Equality as proposed by these lazy Wags, is just an attempt to reap and gain what they know they are not mentally and intellectually qualified for!
It breeds mediocrity and even more disrespect.

They should better call it Female Quota System, so there is no doubt.

Mr keyboard warrior try to keep it clean....why are you taking it personal....its just a discussion..its my opinion and what I think my society needs. Now to answer what my thoughts are in relation to the questions.
I run a business with my sister(smart and intelligent BTW)....I've had more than two formerstaff say to my face that they object to having a woman as their boss and that they would prefer to work with me than with her.....tell me if those men sound secure to you. And its even a common saying among some types of men that they will never ever allow their women make more money than them.

-The way you train a female child goes a long way to shape her view of her position in the society. I grew up in the north and you wouldn't see women in the market buying and selling like you'd see down south(that's one if the shocks I experienced when I moved a little south). They are all locked up in their husband's houses as what they call "kulle". Just bear children and bicker with your husband's other wives....that's all they do. No schooling , no economic activities.
Now I don't see any other " active prevention" from participating in the productive sectors than that. And that's the case Emir Sanusi has been advocating that got him into trouble.
-
-We don't have to force women who have grown to accept a lower place in the society as a result of the mental conditioning they received growing up to aspire for more. But the society can do more for the next generation.

We have debated the pros and cons of high fencing previously. This Evans case is a clear manifestation that high fencing benefits no one; owner and community. High fencing is a very lethal security risk to all. Imagine all these evils going on behind those walls and the community is non the wiser. Now is the abducted victims, but it could easily be the landlord as well.

I will call for the government to legislate for see through fence or low fence like it's done in the developed world. Even Evans has a see through fence. Doesn't that say something.
Very valid points.

Its a choice between two evils, each one with its pros and cons.

I guess "the environment" where one lives, will determine whether one has a high or low see-through fence

Most people will agree that the type of criminals we have now and the selfishness of neighbours, you dont expect them to show-face when you shout Thief! Thief!! So, not much benefit from letting them see-through your fence.
And you cant really blame them, they are not armed.

On the other hand, "Evans" could just be passing-by 'innocently', when your Son just landed from Amelika and offloading....... you know the rest of the story
