PRESIDENT BUHARI NAMES NEW FIRS BOARD FOR SENATE CONFIRMATION

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the composition of a new board for the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, subject to Senate confirmation.

The President nominated a renowned tax consultant, Muhammad M. Nami as the new chairman.

The board is composed of a member representing each of the six geographical zones and statutory representatives from a select number of ministries and government agencies.

Mr Muhammad, a well-trained Tax, Accounting and Management professional with highly rated qualifications and professional practice and licenses from relevant professional bodies, has almost three decades of practical working experience in Auditing, Tax Management and Advisory and Management services to clients in the banking, manufacturing, services and public sectors as well as non- profit organizations.

He is an expert in rendering advisory support services to investors in respect of new business start-ups and management of existing businesses. He has also continuously rendered outsourced services to clients in trading, service and manufacturing sectors of the nation’s economy.

Muhammad Nami attended Bayero University Kano and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology (1991) and a Masters of Business degree (2004) respectively. He is a fellow of Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, Institute of Debt Recovery Practitioners of Nigeria and Associate Member of Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) and Association of National Accountants of Nigeria.

He started his career with PFK in 1993 and rose to the position of a senior Consultant in charge of Tax management and advisory services. He is currently the managing consultant of Manam Professional Services (Chartered Tax Practitioners and Business Advisers) based in Kaduna, Abuja, Niger State.

Mr Muhammad has served, and is still serving, on many companies’ Board and Statutory Board Audit Committees. He was appointed as a member, Presidential Committee on Audit of Recovered Stolen Assets in November, 2017 by President Buhari.

He is married with children.

Chairman of FIRS, Babatunde Fowler, whose term of office expired on Monday, 9th December, 2019 is expected to hand over to the most senior director on the board, who will take charge, pending the senate confirmation of the new board.

I understand your view. I doubt if the US Embassy will open their doors and participate in distrupting an on-going case though. If that was the case, several Nigerians in the US will run to Nigerian Embassies in the US to evade arrests too. Such things like asylum typically undergo a process and the embassy is not the first point of contact.

I think DSS moves may be intended to frustrate Sowore into losing his permanent residency in the US. A US green card holder typically loses his green card after being away from the US for more than 6 months. Sowore is getting closer to that threshold if it isn't passed yet.

I know you hate Sowore and you are happy at his ordeal but even at that, you shoudl at least say only what you are sure about!

1.) America will protect its citizens anywhere they are thought to be in danger, not like the useles one ear that is dessecrating our Judiciary.
if an America runs inside a US embassy when his life is in danger, Americans will not give up that person...nless they are certain the person has committed a serious offense and even at that, they wpuld insist the person must be allowed due representation in a law court.

The issue with Sowore is that he is a 'naturalised' American citizen who holds a Nigerian citizenship as well. So, his American citizenship is like 50% and that is why they are reluctant to intervene. His Senator where he lives in the US is already tabling his matter with congress and if Buhari is not careful and call his DSS hounds to order, he will be embarrased and ORDERED to release Sowore from detention and there is nothing he can do about it.
Right now, Sowore's life is very, very safe because Buhari has just used himself as an INSURANCE for Sowore's life.

2.) The US giving refuge to Sowore is not the samething as interferring or distrupting an ongoing court process (You wicked people know how to frame lies sha!).
It is the DSS that is distrupting and has distrupted an on-going case by failing to heed numerous court order to release the accused from their custody and by re-arresting him in court again, is an assault on the Judiciary and the US is watching all these and getting classified reports. 'If and When' they feel Sowore's rights are being trampled upon, they would warn Buhari to stop his dictatorial tyranic behaviour and let the court process run its course. If he refuses, then American govt have the right to protect someone who carries their citizenship and has 100% American children who are asking their government, for their father.

3.) Sowore cannot lose his Green card because their is a difference between "WILLFUL and ELECTIVE " absence Vs. IMPOSED absence.
Sowore is not willfully electing to be absent but he is being kept in custody, against his will by the gestapo DSS, on the orders of their tyrant leader, Buhari.
A simple Judicial Review Process will restore the citizenship back, even if it was "automatically" withdrawn but you know America is not a banana republic and their justice system cannot be rubbished by their Preisdent, the way Nigerian judiciary is being rubbished. They always give an accused citizen, the opportunity to defend themselves, with full legal representation.
Even If they keep Sowore for ten years, he still remains an American citizen.
Buhari is losing face and credibility very fast. his acions are back-firig and producing the opposite of its intended result. Right now, Sowore's popularity is just soaring and soaring while that of Buhari is diminishing, both locally and internationally. If he thinks he can kill Sowore the way Abiola was killed in detention, he better think again.

Let me observe that the SILENCE of Tinubu, who acclaims and parades himself as one of Yoruba leaders, is telling!
The same Tinubu was very quick to tell us it was not Fulani herdsmen that kill the daughter of Pa Fasonranti (even without any investigation and in contradiction of eye witness accounts), just to prove where his mistaken allegiance lie. Ask yourself: Why will the President and head of the country be silent and pretend everything is fine, not utter a word about the action of his State Secret Service, directly under his command ........if the Order was not directly from him?

We should have laws holding DSS Directors and other Heads of Security agencies to account, for their official actions, so they can be held accountable, even after their service.

Which story do we believe now...has he been rearrested or not?

- Sowore was in court for his case with Govt (he sued Govt for not obeying court order to release him on bail).
- DSS claimed they have complied with the court Order (just released him yesterday!)
- EFCC tried to scatter the Court room and prevent the Judge from sitting over the case. They succeeded.
- Judge adjourned case till February 2020.
- DSS then immediately tried to arrest him right there in court. There was a serious scuffle as his TEam of Lawyers resisted.
- Falana, his lead counsel, managed to take Sowore into his Car
- EFCC gave hot chase, still trying to arrets him. They said they only want o ask him one or two questions in their office,
- To prevent "death by accident" during the chase and as a law officer, Falana agreed to come over to the DSS office, with Sowore.
- Falana brought Sowore there and the DSS siezed him and locked him up.

That is a summary of what happened. Watch the video on Channels Tv and other Private stations, NTA will not show it.

We can all see that Buhari has once again, showed he is a Tyrant and Dictator and he is using the DSS as a weapon of Oppression of Nigerians
This will not end with Sowore alone, Nigerians are in for a very bad time, between now and 2023.

There are a few things l will please want you to take not of:

In your calculation, what you used are what we call 'absolute values" in that they are the maximum limit of power the house can draw if all appliances are IN USE and drawing Maximum Power concurrently but a few things are going to be obvious:
1.) A ll the 4A.c's wont be on at the same time.
2.) Even if they are, they wont all the on and the Cooker, Water heater all still on concurrently.
3.) Even if all those are on, all the 13 Amps Socket wont be in use at the same time
4.) Sockets are rated for the maximum power that theycan carry but we all know that when we dont plug any appliance into a socket, NO POWER is drawn from it, which means its power consumption at that point, from the Load wire, is ZERO! So, most time, only a few Sockets are in use and drawing power from the load wire. Others are idle.
5.) Some appliance like TV's, Laptops, Sound System, will draw less than 35W, yet each on is plugged to individual Socket!
6.) All 35 Bulbs in the house wont be on at the same time, some might be low-energy LED Bulbs that draw only 5W of energy so, they all will draw a fraction of what your figures gave!

So, if you look at it, IN REALITY, at any given time, REAL POWER being drawn from the 10mm load wire is less that 45% of the total POSSIBLE Power Consumption of the House, that will pass through the Load wire, at the same time, for a single pahse wiring..
Same reason Engineers use the 16mm as load wire, for single phase.

I have never see any house where appliances like Boiling Kettle is plugged to all their 15Amps Socket, and Appliances are in all the 13A sockets all at the same time, with AC and Water Heater balrring and food cooking on the Cooker, e.t.c ....all at the same time. grin

This is why l and some will agree that a 10mm load wire, (and from experience), is adequate for the load of that the poster suggested.

Your post does not contain the calculation, though it has the Results or Conclusion.

I am of the Opinion that the person with that Bungalow will not need a three phase connection for his Bungalow, (the only advantage is that you can switch phases when one phase lacks power and others have power, the cost lies in more than doubling your wiring needs and switching accesories).

Until we see your calculation, it will be difficult to agree or disagree with it.
When l have the time, l will dig up something similar that calculates the gauge of Wire, based on the overall load. I know l have it somewhere in the past.

Also, quantity of wire required will largely depend on the span and shape of the building and wiring type (Conduit, Surface, Structured cabling).
That is why l would advice everyone to buy enough wire but keep vigilance on how it is use so that "wires dont start flying over the fence" 9as my friend said) and then request for more wires start coming in. grin

I am happy that you remembered that l was one of those who campaigned vigorously for him...... that means l cannot be accused of hating him because he is Fulani or hating him because he is APC.

What changed? Why am l switching my support?

- He campained on the basis of tackling corruption, he called it zero tolerance for corruption (which is one of the cardinal reasons l expended energy, resources and even made enemies among long time friends) but if you reflect TODAY, you will realize that that promise was fraudulent!
Today, his government is riddiled with sleaze, fraud and he is also using "fronts" to commit personal corruption! Not to mention that he has given leeway to corrupt individuals to continue their corrupt business as usual.
The corruption going in the Presidency, the NNPC, the CBN and other "cash-cows" under this Buhari, will be exposed when he leaves office as he is so busy now hunting anyone who says the truth, with DSS and other security agencies.

BTW: I dont mind him hunting down corrupt people from opposing political parties, as long as it is someone who is corrupt that is targetted.

- He promised to be a detribalised President.
In this too, he has derauded those of us who supported him! TODAY, he has done so much "tribalism", worse than all the other Presidents combined. TODAY, Nigerians have even resigned themselves, just waiting for when this accident of a President will finish his second term.
All federal government Key positions has now become the paternal right of Fulanis, nay northerners, in a country as differently tribalised like Nigeria? he has alienated all other tribes and those ones are just lurking and waiting for when that Presidency will come to their turn and plan to retalliate. He knows this and that is why he is trying to use "laws" (like the Hate Speech Bill) to silence dissenting voice that he knows will surely come after him, sooner or later.

- Lopsided Development
In line with the above, everyone can see how lopsided development has become in Nigeria.
You only need to compare the level of completion and functioning of Rail lines in the North, to the East, the South and the South West.
What about Roads? Lagos - Ibadan is still there, as the only federal Road been repaired in the SW, yet to be completed due to strangulation of funding! But all the roads of the North have been completed in his first term, for those ones, funds are always available.
The East and South South are even worse.
That is not the President l campaigned and voted for.

- Evil and unhealhty Poltical manouverings:
Look at what prompted this thread!? A President that cannot give clear directive to his family members that he has turned to our "Deputy President"! Imagine that Abba Kyari saying that the office of the Chief of Staff to the President (a mere appointment), is higher than office of the Vice President (a joint ticket!). With Kyari and the other Cabal members (Daura, Dambazzau, etc) taking documents to a sick President to sign ina foreign land, when he has a Vice President in the country?
This shows complete CLANISHNESS and TRIBALISM on the part of the President.

Respect for the Rule of Law:
The President l campained and voted for, promise that he is no longer a dictator and would respect the rights of others.
But look at who we have today!
he disobeys court orders to release political opponents, Journalists and has turned the State Security Service into a personal vendetta tool.
Imagine DSS saying they can release Sowore, after two courts ordered he should be released onbail, because if they release him, he might be knocked down by a car! Is Sowore just walking about on his own? Is it not the Attorney of an accused that secures the bail of his Client and must produce him in court onnext hearing? Under Buhari, DSS has now become a Court of its own, deciding whether a court-approved-bail bond is valid or not. How do you expect me to support a man who has lied, defrauded and hoodwinked people like me into supporting him, when he ahs turned to a "clanish dictator" worse than even Abacha.

BTW: It is not that he has not done anything good, liek the Border Closure, IPSS, TSA but if you observe carefully, all the good things he has done, there is always partialism and element of diuble standards in it, to favor his Fulani tribe.
That is what makes him a bad President, one that cannot enjoy my support. next thing now, he would say l have spoken hate Speech and he wants to suck blood! angry

More damage control.The fact is that Buhari is never incharge of his government while the cabal are having a field.

I think we are all making a fatal mistake, saying Buhari is not in-charge or that he is being controlled or that he is weak!
Buhari is a very cunning, calculating, evil and deceptive Crocodile who uses other people (the so called cabal), to mask his own evil machinations so that others can get the blame while he continues unscatched.

Buhari is executing a Fulani/Northernisation Agenda, right under our eyes, replacing all Southerners in ll Federal Agency, Parastatal, organisation and Security, with mostly Fulanis but certainly Northerners.
Examples are just too numerous to begin to mention, one after another.

He is disgracing and hounding Osinbajo, in the hope that the V.P would get angry one day, and say something he can hold on to, against him, to sideline him openly, without anyone saying anything.
All this embarassment, to someone who held the Ship steady for him while he was comatose, someone who diffused the tension in the Niger Delta and enjoyed the trust of the restive Niger Delta, someone who almost lost his life campaigning for this same Buhari, can only be humiliitated this way by a heartless Buhari who is bent on ensuring that it is a Northerner who succeeds him.

The only reason he took away the "Humanitarian/Social responsibility offices and services from osinbajo is simply because of 2023, seeing that it had made Osinbajo even more popular and acceptable than before, among the grassroots!
Buhari knows that come 2023, if Osinbajo contests as President, he woudl win so, he had to do everything evil to diminish his stature in the eyes of the public.

We also cannot rule out the connivance of Tinubu on this matter, seeing how silent he has been over the humilliation of thehighest ranking Yoruba man in this APC govt. Tinubu feels threatened by the rising profile of Osinbajo, while secretly nursing a "Dead-On-Arrival" ambition to contest for the Presidency in 2023. Thus, he is secretly happy at what is happening to Osinbajo, but Tinubu's case is even worse, he cant win nadda, not even Governor of Lagos State anymore, without heavy rigging.

Buhari should just know that he is not God and he will leave that sit one of these days and when he is gone, powerless and of no influence, generations to come will remember all the EVIL and some good he did to this our dear country. If he likes, let him relocate the Federal Capital to Duara and make carry the Apapa Wharf to katsina, it is the Woodcutter that will suffer and tire-out, the tree will continue to flourish
