I am quite sure we are saying the same thing...

Estac:
Your views sir, are representative of biblical headship and I have to say sir, that you are a representation of manhood.

If start to drop my two-two cents, POF go finish. But I will only add that "submission" or what is like to call respect (in its deepest and most profound form) comes naturally to a woman who is loved (sincerely, unconditionally and yes, sacrificially) and treated right. It is a natural bi-product of a loving and trusting relationship.

Submission, like respect cannot be "demanded" but earned. It's not something that is earned merely by acquiring the title "husband" or by having a phallus (borrowing the word from a poster). A woman will naturally submit to someone she trusts -- trust to understand, consider and more importantly, PROTECT her in all of his decisions/dealings. A woman will let down her guard for, and defer to any man she KNOWS will protect her, no matter what.

Sirs, I understand how important submission is to a man. But you also don't want forced or pretend "submission", the type that leads to marital collapse once the woman finds an escape route. You want the submission that is willingly given, from a place of a woman's trust.

Whoever you are, God bless you mightily for this comment. May your peace be unending in all your unending days. Say amen.

vascey:
I've followed this discussion and I'm quite impressed with your candor. Not because of your point of view - no two marriages are alike so nothing is caste in stone- but more for your composure. Indeed, your opinion is yours and others should respect that. When we begin to hear people being attacked for airing their personal opinions respectfully, then that conversation is a no no. I'm very surprised that the culprits are some of our most respected contributors on this thread.

Pls @maternal and @vole, I can't attempt to disrespect either of you cos I know we have built this thread of your help and knowledge. But pls it's not okay to personally attack a person for airing his opinion and perspective. Its called cyber bullying and it's an issue that undermines whatever point you are trying to make. I understand you feel strongly about the subject and that's fine, but speaking to Guiterlife like you did is not consistent with what we know about you. It's not ok to say he's saying bulshit just because you don't agree with him. It's not okay to tell him to do and sit down for airing his perspective.

That's my 2cents.

Hehehehehehehehe! Typical Nigerian hypocrisy being displayed here. Why did you omit verse 21 of this your lengthy bible post. My people verse Ephesian 5:21 says "Submit to one another out of Reverence for Christ (The NIV bible titles from vs21 to end as (Instruction to Christian household). But the typical Nigerian guy will always ignore that verse 21. But its ok. My brother @guitarlife if you are going to stay in Canada you must revisit your mindset of submission although I have reasons to believe you didn't want to marry the lady in question. Your submission story is just a cover loool! We have all used it before and gone ahead to marry crazier women. My wife told me worse than this lady told you I still went ahead and married her because I was crazily in love with this crazy girl. Three years down the line. I have a woman who will transfer her whole salary to me if I am short of cash, do my laundry( I do not know how much washing a shirt cost, she washes and irons like a pro), send me to market with soup list,I have customers now..Lol! hand me okra to cut, taught me how to make spaghetti and plantain (infact she swears I fry plantain better than her so she has stopped frying plantain, I do that now..Loool!But all in all I have a woman who is willing to love me with her all, who is still not afraid to call me out whenever she feels I am wrong. If that is the partnership, my guy I will take it and to be sincere I am happy. I will not lie and say I wasnt scared prior marriage but I have learnt that all you need is a good woman. if the so called partnership is me taking part in house chores. It hasn't killed me yet. This our Canadian journey she gave it her all infact I just started participating. My opinion is let us all work with stuff that will work for us. Naija favors we men all the time but if you are planning to move here with your spouse my dear naija brothers readjust o. Bikokwa to avoid had I known. If you dont want to you can do like our Igbo brothers relocate alone and be sending money down but then there are still downsides to that..
Guy...your Mrs and my Mrs must have been made on the same day by the same able God. Woman that you know you can die today and your kids will be fine. I greet you sir.

Seriously though, the Bible talk say I be head and I see myself as the head. But the head of an organisation is the chief servant. A president answers to the people. A true head is not afraid of challenge, because it means you must be certain of the direction you want the ship to take, so that when that woman that is every bit as capable as you asks you to explain yourself, your answer will be something more articulate than "don't question the head".

Una wey dey form undisputed head, Sha remember that once you claim that title, you become the lowest servant of all. Maybe think about that before you start carrying chest and doing manly posture...

Hey...thanks for this reply...

Saw it a few days back but things were happening and I decided to see the end of them before replying.

Honestly, you're probably right in your assessment, and my Mrs actually told me to consider it. But God was just faithful in the end. We got a place for 1500 from a guy we met on Airbnb while we were looking for a short stay. Single house, with all we wanted.

I did also find two other places that fit the budget. Condos under $1500 that were in decent condition.

My advice for anyone still looking is to check on the websites of property development companies for all available properties in their portfolio (they all tend to have several) and call the rental offices. Many will not answer, so be patient and try again or send an email. CAPREITis one such company with almost 100 properties in the GTA. most will be over 1500, but some will be under. One was even 1300.

CC TheCongo2, and thanks for the advice...

Iyamefa:
Hi there.
Those areas you mentioned are in the GTA and to be honest, your budget isn’t realistic for an apartment. Rent isn’t exactly cheap here unless you look into smaller towns probably outside the GTA.
It’s not impossible but highly unrealistic to get an apartment for that amount. Why aren’t you guys going for a basement? That budget will get you a basement apartment. If you can’t exactly increase the budget and have no one to stay with, I suggest you go for the basement apartment and save your Airbnb money. I don’t know the size of your family but you can get a 2 room basement (even more, who knows) with that amount.
If your concern about basements is the fact that its the coldest part of the house, get mobile heaters to add to the central heater and you guys will be fine. Afterwards, when you guys are settled you move from there.
Hope this helps

A little advice wanted from landed seniors that have done this before...

Landed in Airbnb. was hopeful of finding a place asap so only got a week. but I am starting to wonder if my budget is realistic. I chose Toronto because the Mrs and I are both in finance and I also have future plans that sort of make Ontario the only choice for us. We wanted an apartment of any sort except a basement either in Etobicoke, Scarborough, north and east york and Mississauga, but we can't seem to find anything under $1500 that is not a basement (we actually started from a budget of $1300 o, just to show you how much we have pushed our limits on this budget thing)...

Can anyone advise if this amount is reasonable and if I just need to keep searching? Its just frustrating when you see a price on Kijiji and you check the company site and its $1900 instead, or you call the management office and they either don't answer or they tell you the property is not available. I really do not want a basement apartment for my family, so I want to know if my budget is even realistic at all. I would appreciate any input on this or any connections that would help to find a place ASAP. una do well...

Ij1000:
I don’t see why this shd be an issue it will be helpful if we knew what exactly the ADR said. This is common practice even outside Nigeria. The idea is that as you move higher in these firms you should have completed your professional exams, thus promotions get stalled at some point if you haven’t completed the exams, but at a lower level you are being trained and coached on your job so it isn’t a basic requirement for getting a job offer.

hey people...rookie question coming through abeg...

Precisely what legal basis do nigerians have for working in audit for PWC or KPMG for example, if they dont have ICAN yet (which many I know dont have because they got into PWC even after graduating from engineering degrees). asking cos ADR says to supply this information and I need guidance on how folks that have applied as auditors did so. any input is appreciated. applied under NOC 1111.

You are wrong. You only need Google it. You'll find tons of stories where people have been detained at the US and Canadian borders for trying to enter these countries with child pornography.
Cc Cochrane, ethelia, einsteino and anyone else that may have taken my reply the wrong way...

I am not condoning such behaviour. Anyone that possesses such images like child porn or whatever deserves whatever is meted out to them. I obviously have no experience of North America because I don't like there. I am in Australia. But it's just clear that things have changed and crazy is the new norm if privacy laws can be so easily swatted to one side. Doesn't happen on this side of the aisle though. I am not asking anyone not to be cautious. I just do not understand how it is legal to compel anyone to unlock their phone.

Just felt I needed to clarify this cos my attention was just drawn to the replies to my comment, and I logged in and saw all man going in on them...
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Workers Program- Connect Here Part 4 by DaddyTheFather: 6:50pm On Jul 06, 2018
Most likely fake news. Oyinbo people don't do these sorts of things in my experience.how would they obtain consent at that time when you haven't committed a crime and your phone was not unlocked? What reason did they give for going through his phone?

Abeg...takes this with a bag of salt...

o2:
Hello can this be true.
WHATSAPP MESSAGES, VIDEOS AND PICTURES.

I am a lawyer licensed to practice law in Canada and I handle a lot of immigration cases.

I came across a case this last Sunday (July 1, 2018 - Canada Day), which I thought is necessary to be shared amongst close ones without disclosing confidential information.

This client travelled from Africa into Canada and was interviewed at the point of entry into Canada. During the course of the interview, he was asked to hand over his phone to the Canada Border Services Agency officer. Upon reviewing the videos stored on his phone. The officer saw a video of a man raping a child and detained him for possessing child pornography.

He was determined to be ineligible to enter into Canada on grounds of criminality and was refused entry into Canada as he was determined to be a risk to public safety. He has now been charged to Court for being in possession of child pornography.

My client alleges that it was a widely spread WhatsApp video in Africa (I am sure some of you would have seen the same video) and that it automatically downloaded into his phone without his knowledge. He will definitely have his day in Court to prove his innocence, but we do not have to wait to allow such things happen.

What’s the moral of this story? This is the era of social media and the distribution of all sort of messages/videos/pictures. Check your phone on a daily basis and ensure that you delete all unsolicited pictures, messages and videos. Block anyone who has a penchant for distributing unwarranted pictures, messages and videos - you may not only be saving yourself from unforeseen embarrassment and/or criminal charges, you don’t want your kids to stumble into such messages, videos and pictures.

Finally, a whole lot is indulged in Africa (not meaning to be demeaning). It is a different ball game out of Africa. So for EVERYONE travelling, do a thorough search of the content of your phone before you embark on each trip - just to be sure you are CLEAN. What happened to my client could have happened to anyone, just because he didn’t pay any attention to the videos/messages he received on WhatsApp.

This is not a joke, it is a true story.to

I know one thing for sure: admissions can be deferred. my OPINION is that you can get in as a permanent resident and leverage the lower fees you will pay in school that way. I dont think I am wrong, because I have seen this done severally, but in the end, its all up to you. I guess others can say if my opinion is wrong or not.

you literally just saved a life here. what you have just outlined would cost thousands of dollars to get from a consultant in an AC tight room. I know this lady was asking this same question on the other thread, and no one helped her like this. Stay blessed...

Canadianfly:
Let me answer you as much as I can.

Now for number 5, here is my advice. Choose a province that is relatively cheap to live in. Alberta, Manitoba and Sask. Say you choose Manitoba, and land in Winnipeg, book an Airbnb close to St. Boniface hospital or Women's center for like $1000 CAD per month depending on amenities, bedroom number, bathroom number etc. I say go for the basic as it's just you and Oga. A one bedroom will do. Plan to pay and stay for 3 months - the money you planned to pay hospital in Yankee can be channeled towards this cost.
Transportation in Winnipeg is cheap. Buses are cheap. You'll only need to go for your appointments, baby shopping and groceries. Oga can even do the shopping and you stay warm at home. Expect to pay $200-$250 CAD for you and Oga for bus. Forget buying car now.
For family and social support, wetin you need this for? If you need friends in Winnipeg, PM and I'll help you. But you should not bother about this because you have a project at hand. Face it, then look for family and friends after you born.
For Alberta:
Calgary - PM vcole for hospital and Dr. She had her baby there.
Edmonton - Mummyjagirls and freeradical dey there. Pm them for pointers.
For Sask - PM Salford1 for advice.

If you ask me, go to Canada and save yourself the headache. What you think you're saving by going to America, you'll pay much more in the long run. All the best with the decision you make.

anyway...back to what has been paining me in silence for the past 50 pages...

I am sure I am in the minority with this my view, but I think we should chill with castigating newcomers when they ask questions that are silly to some of the more experienced people on this thread. Yes, the questions have been answered before and they are stupid and if they read page 0, they likely wont ask, but in the end, this is still an open forum. Anyone has a right to a question, and if the question is stupid, you also have a right to give it a pass. if nobody answer, the guy/girl go carry eye by diasef go the first page. Or they will pay an agent and win or lose. I understand the frustration of seeing yet another question that has been answered 29 times before, but we need to admonish in moderation. This one that i will be seeing people hurling fierce words...it is unbecoming of adults. Let this thread not become some seemingly elitist environment that mirrors our dear country where dissenting opinions are shouted down. Afterall, we are all here to help and support each other. in shouting everyone off to page 0. you never know who was genuinely confused and needed help and probably just gave up on the thread because of your vitriolic reaction...make we dey try check oursef, biko...

bors, na dis our brisbane you use compare lagos laidis? brisbane wey be say everyone knew of the road closures like a month beforehand? that the exact roads that would be closed were announced to everyone and their mum? (had to steal that line). Brisbane that people are not hustling to make ends meet by the skin of their teeth?? bros, ees nor comparable, abeg. you sef said as much in the bolded and it basically made the events of the visit completely unconscionable and indefensible! if buhari wan enter lagos, make e use chopper. we sha kuku have corruption money that we have recovered, we can now afford a few chopper rides.

jokes aside, the truth is just that governance at all levels in nigeria does not consider the effect actions have on the common man. many people missed flights because road was blocked. some missed appointments. hustler sef wey dey manage suffer. wetin nor good nor good...

laminaria:
I think @ysteph is right.
Road closure happens everywhere, in 2014 during Brisbane Gsumit, Brisbane was shut down for a whole week.prior to that event, there are a lot of restriction of movements, everyone was forced to take a break. Obama was in Sydney last week and the same thing happened. Yes if France PM is going on a state tour or visit such is bound to occour , generally Nigerians are not just happy with their leaders.however, I think Gov could av made those days public holiday for state workers maybe that would reduce the rate of people on the road.
It is normal for such things to happen. I just think we do things without Puting other measures in place incase of emergency( fire, ambulance etc).

I have written IELTS in two other countries apart from nigeria. we were never provided with headphones. I think headphones are a courtesy/specific to a centre, but not compulsory.

SolutionsGuy:
I don't know whether all the candidates took test in the same room. My own hall has about 40 candidates. Yes, section 4 was replayed but I didn't have issue with section 4 before. Sections 1 and 4 are my favourites in listening. The middle sections usually have more words spoken and I flopped there. I personally told them I lost points in listening because there's no headphone. They promised it will likely be available as from next test date.

In my post, I didn't attempt to rubbish MOD. Fact is there were no headphones and it pumped my 68k down the drain. You won't compare someone sitting right in front of the speaker to someone from a village seated some distance.
Your husband would recall that some people wanted the volume higher while others wanted it turned down.

If they are still married, he could pose a threat as she would have to mention him as not accompanying but will still need his medicals and other informayion. But if they're divorced and hopefully no children between them, he may not have any chance or way to "spoil" her plans...cheers!
