And why is the EFCC allowing all sorts of characters visit inmates pending trial? The ONLY people that should be allowed to visit him PRE-TRIAL are his legal team; even his spouse should only be allowed to speak to him on monitored phone calls and only for a few minutes each week until the conclusion of proceedings. He should not be allowed access to his PERSONAL phones, and his letters--- both incoming and outgoing--- except VERIFIED Attorney/Client correspondence should be monitored. The result of neglecting control of Pre-Trial Inmates is the idiocy we see in the above article.

Anyway, Nigeria is still learning, hopefully they get it right before it's too late.

Or no money was ever distributed to anybody and the names being mentioned is part of the propaganda?

I have been following the so called Dasukigate and I am amazed how easy it is for a government to use the media to deceive and distract the ignorant masses. History has shown that propaganda remains the biggest tool of any government that intends to enslave a people. Unfortnately, even the current opposition has been quite incompetent in putting the records straight

For the records, there is nothing like a $2.1B arms money. It was a propaganda masterstroke well concotted by the DSS and EFCC to distract everyone from the incompetence of the Buhari administration. That is why former president Goodluck Jonathan has come out twice now to put the records staright that he never approved any $2.1B arms money. But it seems the ignorant masses still dont get it. So where did the "$2.1B arms money" headline originate from?

$2.1B was the monies that was allocated to the office of the NSA throughout Dasuki's tenure as NSA. These monies come under SECURITY VOTE. It was not money allocated to the purchase of weapons as the DSS and the EFCC have claimed. That is why they cant take Dasuki to court. They will lose woefully. Security vote is not money allocated for arms purchase. Of the whole monies that make up the $2.1B, only the $300 million from the returned Abacha loot was actually recommended for the purchase of arms. That is why in court, the charges brought against Dasuki was in that range. But they are likely going to lose in court for that because weapons were actually purchased. Whether they are worth $300 million is what the EFCC will have to prove in court. But from the way they have been refusing to follow the court process, one is safe to assume that they dont trust their own case against Dasuki.

But why did they go with the headlines of "$2.1 Billion arms purchase money" when they knew it was not the case? Because the whole anti coruption fight was only a propaganda stunt from the beginning. It was a well crafted stunt to distract the masses and persecute any dissenting voice so Buhari can fully consolidate power. Does that mean I think many of the politicians mentioned in the scandal are clean? By no means! Nigerian politicians are corrupt without a doubt including the presidency and everyone in the rulling APC party. The president's campaign itself was sponsored from corruption. The Amaechi corruption scandals are well documented with very strong evidence.

If Dasuki has stolen any funds, he should be prosecuted accordingly, but the media propaganda and charade has got to stop. Media trial is injustice in itself. I find it really deceitful when I see lines like "what will you tell the Nigerian soldiers that didnt have weapons to fight and were killed because Dasuki shared the arms money". That is nothing but propaganda and trying to appeal to sentiments to push a narrative. If that were the case, what has the same military been using to fight BH in the last 8 months since Buhari has not bought any new weapons? What weapons did the army use to push back BH prior to the 2015 elections? Did they push BH back with their bare hands too? Even Lie Mohammed claims BH has been defeated. With which weapons did the army defeat BH? With their bare hands?

It is important we put all these straight so we dont fall for cheap propoaganda by a government that has completely lost its way. The same government that claims they are fighting corruption came out with a terrible corruption laden budget where they intended to connect cables from the President's residence to the drivers residence with N300 million. In fact, the budget of yams was so laden with coruption that they had to shamelessly withdraw it.

The world has changed. If the current government thinks they will continue to rule with propaganda, they should think again because they will be exposed again and again. Thank God for social media and the Internet!

If erstwhile President Jonathan thinks Buhari and the leadership of APC will be magnanimous in victory and allow him to enjoy his well deserved rest after meritoriously serving the nation, he must be making an unpardonable and grave mistake. The ongoing selective and vindictive phantom arms purchase probe has really proven that Buhari and APC are not in power to serve the interest of Nigerians but solely for vendetta, name-calling and blame games

The nation is aware of how APC connived with INEC (through preplanned and lopsided distribution of PVCs that glaringly gave the north electoral advantage over other regions) to rig the election in its favour but Jonathan against all odds decided to relinquish power despite alarming reasons not to do so.

Characteristic of APC, instead of savouring its victory and concentrate on governance, it chose to perpetually humiliate Jonathan and his party. For those who care to know, there's none of the "sins" for which Jonathan and PDP are been persecuted that APC as a party has not committed both in the past and the present.

Despite the level of mismanagement under the Republican adminstration of Bush which threw United States into recession, despite wasting both human and financial resources on a needless war in Iraq, the government of Obama chose to concentrate on governance instead of using the shortcomings of its predecessor to propagate its own image. Typical of the Blackman mentality, Buhari is unearthing Jonathan "sins" to shod up his badly smeared public image.

It's on this note that many well meaning Nigerians are asking him (Jonathan) to fight back instead of always being on the defensive. He should use everything at his disposal, legal or otherwise to save his political carrier but if he doesn't, Buhari and APC are heck bent in destroying him in other to play down their ineptitude and inability to govern Nigeria.

Security votes are contingency fund to be used by a chief executive for contingencies without having to seek approvals from national or state assemblies. That it is being abused is a subject for another day. What we are discussing here is the looting and diverting of monies budgeted for specific purposes.

contingency funds are implyingavailable to all chief executive around the world - private or public. What you are implying is to investigate all security votes of all chief executives that have ever held office in the history of Nigeria, which is impractical and illegal. Our laws prohibits looking into security votes.
You should be advocating for a change in the laws governing security votes to make it more accountable and transparent instead of using it as an excuse to exonerated those that looted our treasury.

I now see were Gen. Buhari is coming from. In uyo sometime ago, the govt wanted to relocate a market , the first thing they did was to get a new location for the traders, built it up and by the time they came to close the market most of the traders had moved on their own. That's good governance, so if it was done in oshodi or elsewhere , it does not make right, and worst of all when folks now eulogise the government for a decision taken in bad taste! We are blessed.

A municipal council closes a market as large and strategic as ladipo without properly informing the traders, not to talk about the public that uses the market and you are here exposing your huge ignorance. Peoples means of lively hood has just be stopped for an excuse as flimsy and uncordinated as 'rebuilding the market' and you see it as a platform to vent your pathetic hate speech! For starters, shouldn't due process be applied in doing things like this if there is indeed no uterior motive? What ever happens to phasial rebuilding/ renovation works? These guys are responsible taxpayers, whatever happens to relocating them first before closing the market ?
