Nairaland / General / In Nigeria Do We Have Citizen Or Indigens by dahcom: 3:56pm On Aug 07, 2009
A friend of mine and I were discussing on the genuineness of things in this country. it was a surprise to hear from him that, our citizenship in this country some times are faulted. his words ''for students that seek admission in the Universities in Nigeria, one of the things that forms the admission prerequisites is state of origin. For an individual that wants job in any Public Service in the country they would want to consider some certain people first''.

Education / Re: How Would You Feel, If You Are An Illiterate? by dahcom: 1:35pm On Aug 05, 2009
let's ask ourselves, is literacy ability to read and write or having western education? we are missing up many things in this country until we understand that literacy is the thing of the mind not the number of books you buy or your frontier, then we will appreciate that we can achieve what we want through what we have.
Politics / Re: Boko Haram Leader Interogation Before Execution And Police Killing A Civilian by dahcom: 12:15pm On Aug 05, 2009
if we are not careful with the trend of things, we will end up encouraging a deadly trend in this country. the law enforcement agencies must be made accountable for their wrong doings. the ''big wigs'' behind this must be uncovered in time.

Tips on Being a Successful Student

Chances are that if you are reading this, you are already a somewhat
successful student. However, the higher up you go in the education
hierarchy, the more strategies you will need to stay successful.
Consider these tips:

Focus. This is the single most important strategy for success in both
high school and college (and at work). Focus on what you want, on
what you are doing, on where you are at the moment. If you are in
college, focus on each and every class and assignment. If you are in
Chemistry I, focus on that class, that assignment, that grade. Don't
let your attention be diluted with outside interests until your
schoolwork is completed. You won't do well in International Politics
if you are fighting with your significant other or worrying about
what to wear to the football game this weekend!

Prioritize. Education is your #1 priority at this time in your life.
All decisions must be made around that priority. Sure, it would be
fun to spend your time off at the beach, but not if you have to
finish a term paper. And it would be fabulous to hang out with your
sorority sisters until 4:00 in the morning, but not if you have a
final exam on cell mitosis at 9:00 the next day.

Sleep. Get enough sleep and eat a balanced diet. This isn't advice
from Granny; it is a practical, stay-healthy-and-you-will-do
better-in-school fact. Junk food, binge drinking, doing drugs, and
staying up all night do not create a successful scholar. Take care of
you. Your success depends on it.

Participate. Go to all classes all the time. Skipping class is the
best way to fail. Attend every class and be a part of each one. Ask
questions, visit your professors during office hours, discuss class
material with other students. It's your education, so be a part of
it, and strive to be good at it!

Top 10 Things To Take To College
If you're planning ahead and thinking about what you'll need when you
head off to college this fall, here are our top 10 suggestions:
10. Computer and printer, no matter who offers to "share" with you,
when it's midnight and that paper or research is due tomorrow, you
will want access to your own computer. The campus computer lab is no
fun at 2:00 a.m., and that's even if your school's lab stays open
that late!

9. Comfort objects for homesick days, this will vary from person to
person, but may include pictures, photo albums, stuffed animals,
favorite CDs, books, and pillows.

8. Music, a CD player or iPod and your favorite songs. And maybe
even a headset in case your roomie likes heavy metal at 5 a.m.!?

7. A mini-fridge, yes, you will use it no matter how many meal plans
you have. Where else will you put the leftover pizza and chocolate
milk?

6. Jeans, even if you heard that college students "dress up," don't
believe it. Jeans and a ball cap are the uniform du jour.

5. A checking account and ATM card. Don't -- repeat, don't -- keep
cash in your dorm room or apartment.

4. Stuff. That's right, stuff. You will want stuff to make your new
abode, be it dorm room or apartment, seem like it belongs to you. A
great bedspread and matching sheets, a rug by your bed, your favorite
pj's, a bookshelf, photographs, etc.

3. Not too much stuff. A dorm or apartment room can be very small so
don't clutter it up. Take just what you need. See #4.

2. A long distance phone card. It can save you money and let you call
home from another phone if your roommate has yours tied up.

1. Your free membership to ScholarshipExperts.com, the searching
doesn't stop when school begins! Your educational process has just
begun, make sure you are proactive about finding ways to pay for it!

Also, as you are thinking about what to bring to college, be sure to
think about what not to bring. To narrow down your list of
college-bound items, find out what's prohibited by the college, and
what your roommate(s) are bringing that you could share. There's
really no need to have two microwaves and two toasters, even if you
do like to fix midnight snacks on a regular basis.
Politics / Corruption In Politics by dahcom: 5:00am On Feb 19, 2008
I am of the opinion that corruption is a psychological menace.Nigerians should appreciate that this country is one and ours, we should use all our resources to national development. lets stop stealing, vandalizing our self owned property under the disguise of greed.yes! we can do it, we can become one of the top twenty nations before 2020.
