In some cases, weapons meant for the soldiers were diverted and given to the terrorist when the soldiers in the battle field realized they were pursuing a lost cause, that their lives were being used as a bargaining chip by superior authority in order to gain more funding for the Defence sector which consequently is more funding for themselves. When some of the soldiers decided to do the needful by running for their dear lives, they where branded deserters, caught, imprisoned and even sentenced to death. This level of impunity was allowed to go on under the very watch of Saint Goodluck Ebele Jonathan who even approved the death sentence awarded to those innocent gentlemen whose only crime was to fight and defend this shit hole but refused to be sacrificed like others who are gone and forgotten. I urge anyone who care to listen to know that there is a fire burning, though still at the incipient stage, but soon it will burn out and engulf anyone or thing that it comes accross. There's what you call, consolidated armed forces pay structure. The salary is the same but there are other allowances that are due to each personnel. For the Army, there is bush allowance, hazard allowance, furniture allowance, parking allowance, Ration cash allowance and so on. None of this allowances is being paid in fact most soldiers are not even aware that they are entitled to this allowances .In the Navy, you have the Sea going allowance(for sailors serving on board a sea going vessel), diving allowance, Ration cash allowance, Lodging allowance(because of lack of accommodation),Transport allowance, Course Allowance and So on,but only a few is being paid. the Air Force has what you call Air Allowance, hazard Allowance, Admin Allowance, Ration Cash Allowance etc. I would say generally, personnel of the Nigerian Air force enjoy a great deal, because of the well furnished accommodation and a number of allowances they receive. Officers of the Nigerian Navy get more because of the Navy is the most expensive arm of the armed forces. Well, personnel are being robed of their entitlement despite the nature of the job. That is why lately, the clamor by personnel of the armed forces of Nigeria to be enrolled into the federal Government integrated personnel payroll information system has gained momentum. if that is in place, the entire bureaucratic system will be abolished and the pay of personnel will come directly from the fed Govt. Though the leadership of the military is not so cool with this development because that is where they get the money to live the flamboyant live style they are use to and to settle their god fathers in and out of service. But it must prevail. Thats the little i know, thank You.
