Youths in Anambra State have honoured and recognised the outstanding commitment and extensive contributions of Billionaire Medical Doctor, Philanthropist and frontline Governorship Candidate of Accord, Dr. Godwin Maduka. He was honoured at the Southern Awards held last night at Awka, Anambra state.

According to AnambraUpdate Reporter, the occasion was stolen by Dr. Godwin Maduka when he was called up on stage to receive the Award of "Man of the Year". Dr. Godwin Maduka received the award amidst massive accolades and support from youths across who were present at the prestigious award event.

Speaking during the award, Dr. Godwin Maduka expressed appreciation to the youths of Anambra state and Organisers of Southern Awards for considering him worthy of the prestigious award of Man of the Year 2021. He thanked Southern Awards for the honour, award and recognition.

However, Dr. Godwin Maduka has been unequivocally involved in several development supports for youths across Nigeria and especially Anambra state. He has invested so much into humanity through philanthropic gestures and empowerment provisions for youngster across Anambra state. He is however the choice of the people in the forthcoming Anambra Governorship Elections, especially as he concludes plans to declare his intentions for the race under a new political platform and structure in the state.

Fayemi calls for cooperation with firefighters to improve response time

Ado Ekiti, Aug. 5, 2021 (NAN) Gov. Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti has persuaded citizens to cooperate with the State and Federal Fire Services to improve response time to fire incidents.
Fayemi made the call during the commissioning of a state-of-art firefighting truck in Ado Ekiti on Thursday.
The governor said that the provision of the truck by Federal Fire Service (FFS) Controller General , Ibrahim Liman, for the operations of Ekiti was highly commendable.
He stated that there was need to support the federal fire service in its quest to improve the fire safety situation in the country.
“I see firefighting as one of the most essential services to render. This is a critical profession where we also have to make sure the remuneration is at par with what is obtained in other well sort after jobs,” he said.
He tasked Ekiti Office of Transformation, Strategy and Delivery to work closely with the state firemen to understand their challenges and recommend preliminary operational improvement.
“I have also instructed the supervising ministry; the ministry of infrastructure and public utilities to develop framework and guidelines that will enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the state fire service.
“There is also the need for collaboration between the service and the emergency call centres,” he said.
He stated that the rate of fire outbreak in the state had declined from 2019 till date.
He attributed the success to the combined efforts of the relevant organisations expected to combat and prevent fire in the state.
FFS Controller General reiterated the need for citizens to have the emergency phone numbers of firefighting stations nearest to them.
“ Report all fire incidents on time wherever you reside, know the nearest fire stations to you and know their emergency telephone numbers.
“ We are asking Ekiti people to cooperative with the state government, state and federal fire services,” he said.
Liman disclosed that the FFS had plans to establish a Fire Volunteer Club, as he urged Nigerians to key into the new initiative.
“If we have volunteers we will now go to the grassroots and by so doing fire incidences will reduce,” he said.
According to him, Ekiti State Government is vast in the contribution and development of its fire service by the recent recruitment of 59 fire men, acquisition and refurbishment of fire trucks.

Frontline Anambra State governorship aspirant, Dr. Godwin Maduka and Dr. Ned Nwoko, the iniator of Ned Nwoko Malaria Eradication Foundation, met in Abuja where they brainstormed on the Malaria Eradication Project.

Nwoko, a renowned lawyer had flagged off the campaign during a symbolic exhibition to the Antarctica.


According to Reports, the duo met in his Abuja Mansion during a political consultation and discussion on political strategies required for the victorious vision of Dr. Godwin Maduka in the forthcoming Anambra Governorship poll. They also deliberated on extensive collaboration towards achieving fruition in the eradication of Malaria in Nigeria and across Africa.

During the meeting, Anambra Governorship hopeful, Humanitarian, triple professor of medicine and CEO of Las Vegas Pain Institute in the USA assured Prince Ned Nwoko of his earnest support for the eradication of Malaria in Africa. From reports gathered, Dr. Godwin Maduka has continued to meet with stakeholders and Political Actors as he make prospective advancements towards becoming the next Governor of Anambra state.

Dr. Godwin Maduka also assured Ned Nwoko of his integrated commitment and supportive assurance in his Foundation's vision of eradicating Malaria from Africa. In recent times, Dr. Godwin Maduka has been responsively involved in development programs both across the southeast, Nigeria and Africa in entirety. It's on record that Maduka built the tallest Medical research center - a 17 storey Building edifice.

On the other hand, Prince Ned Nwoko and his Malaria Eradication Foundation has maintained an undeterred position in promoting humanitarian affairs, assistance for underprivileged persons and uncountable campaign programs to improve lives and properties across Nigeria and Africa.

FEDERAL FIRE SERVICE AND THE SELFLESS TASK OF SAVING LIVES AND PROPERTY


The achievements of the Federal Fire Service (FFS) is often unnoticed as silent achievements have been its mode of operation since its establishment as an arm of the Lagos State Fire Brigade in April 1963 with currently 12 Zonal Commands and presence in all the 36 states including the Federal Capital Territory. The hard work and dedication of the gallant men and women of the fire service is least appreciated.

The FFS is not profit-driven but rather community-driven, with one mission of saving lives and property . That is why the FFS is resilient in carrying out its activities. While understanding that it is not profit-driven, one can not help but also notice that in 2020 alone, FFS saved N1.351 trillion worth of properties, and 1,110 human lives were also saved from fire disasters. Since the appointment of Dr. Liman Ibrahim as Controller General of the FFS in March 2019 by President Muhammadu Buhari, the FFS response has significantly increased, from 2020 to the first quarter of 2021 the FFS received 4,541 fire calls nationwide and the maximum turnout time of the firefighters after receiving an emergency call is 3 Minutes.

The Federal House of Representatives has started the process of amending the FFS act to include flooding, building collapse, air, road accidents, and other emergencies. This comes as been the first responder to emergencies and as a result of the sublime achievements by the FFS in mitigating fire disasters and combating fire emergencies across the country. The bill would provide additional powers for effective service delivery in tackling other emergencies.

The FFS under the leadership of Dr. Liman Ibrahim has exhibited an act of heroism at this period of Covid-19 pandemic by ensuring the decontamination exercise is carried out relentlessly and Professionally. The FFS partnered with the Ministry of Environment to achieve the decontamination exercise.

A Covid-19 response team was constituted in every state across the nation equipped with well-trained men and women of FFS and representatives of the Environmental Health Officers Association of Nigeria (EHOAN) and Environmental Officers Registration Council of Nigeria (EHORECON) in handling the chemicals used during the exercise. The decontamination exercise was a huge success and has often been referred to as one of the most successful and effective Covid-19 exercises in the country.

The good work of the FFS under the leadership of Dr. Liman Ibrahim is still faced with many challenges across the country. The effectiveness of the FFS in different locations across the country is hindered mostly by bad roads, traffic, distance from the fire station to the scenes, lack of proper description of the exact location, attack on trucks and officials.

Dr. Liman Ibrahim, the Controller General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS) during his speech to mark the international firefighters' day celebration, a day set aside to celebrate firefighters worldwide after a tragic bushfire in Australia that killed five (5) firefighters in 1999. May 4th of every year is a day to celebrate firefighters worldwide,called on every citizen to show support to the firefighters for their sacrifice in saving lives and property , as attacking the firefighter while carrying out his duties is a disincentive to the fireman. Firefighters dead or alive should be applauded for risking their lives while saving others.

The current administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has tremendously supported the FFS. The administration approved a N10.4 billion infrastructure upgrade for the firefighters through the Ministry of Interior headed by the Minister of Interior Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. The Minister who has been very effective in carrying out his duties since his appointment as a Minister, commissioned the newly procured equipment which includes 20 Newly acquired Life-Support ambulances, 7 Fire Fighting trucks, 44 Fire Fighting engines, 15 Water tankers, and 15 rapid intervention Fire engines amongst other important pieces of equipment to ease the activities of the FFS and to promote effectiveness. A gesture that was worthy of applause.

With its presence in all 36 states including the Federal Capital Territory, more support is still required to ensure the FFS is totally in control of all the responsibilities saddled upon it.
The FFS with Dr. Liman Ibrahim as its head is geared towards achieving its full potential. The Federal Fire Service has never been this visible to every Nigerian. Dr. Liman Ibrahim's proactive response and vast knowledge are unmatched.

President Muhammadu Buhari has indeed put a round peck in a round hole with his appointment. The FFS is taking a fresh dimension in saving lives and property. Nigerians are finally feeling the impact of having a functioning FFS. Nigerians are watching with excitement and keen interest as the Federal Fire Service moves carefully to greater heights.

What a man and a way to celebrate Birthday!

Every year this noble soul celebrates his birthday in a very unique way;

He gathers Nigerians from different places and varied social status; and feast with them sharing many freebies.

The giveaways include Gift Items, Food Stuff, Educational Materials, Clothing, Skill Up Kits amongst others and most importantly, a copy of the Bible.

This year, he has assembled over 2,500 persons comprising widows, children from the orphanage homes, and youths at the Stanel Dome in Awka, Anambra State.

What's happening today is aside his yesterday's decision to shut down business for a 12 hour praise and worship in which he gave out a Jeep and N10m support to the Choral Group to encourage them; plus a bag of rice to all his staff.

All these, in addition to his special reach out to prison inmates, he does every year to thank God for adding another year to his life.

That's why I describe him in 3 sentences:

1. A man who touch lives;
2. A human that provides solutions;
3. A being that lift others!

HON MINISTER OF INTERIOR, CG IMMIGRATION VISITS REPUBLIC OF BELARUS, HOLDS BILATERAL DISCUSSIONS


The Honourable Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola and the Controller Generals of Immigration and Federal Fire Service, Muhammad Babandede and Dr. Liman Ibrahim Alhaji, MIFireE, FPA, icca, FCILG are currently in the Republic of Belarus on a bilateral discussion on the invitation of the Minister of Interior Belarus, Ivan Kubrakov.

This visit has availed the Hon. Minister of Interior (Nigeria) the opportunity to discuss matters that will further cement the existing relationship between the two countries. Issues relating to training and equipment procurement are being discussed.

The Controller General Federal Fire Service met and discussed with his counterpart of Institute for Emergencies and Safety.

The Hon Minister Rauf Aregbesola has approved the training of twelve personnel of the Federal Fire Service to undergo training on the operation of hydraulic platform in the Republic of Belarus beginning in September 2021.

The Hon. Minister and the two Service Chiefs of the Ministry of Interior were warmly received and treated to the hospitality of the Republic of Belarus.

FCT Minister Of State Ramatu Tijjani Receives Contestants Of Queen Of Peace Nigeria, To Honour Event

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister of State, Dr Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu has received Contestants of the renowned national Pageant Queen of Peace at her office in Abuja. The Minister of State for FCT met with Contestants of Queen of Peace Beauty Pageant on Monday 27th 2021.

The Beautiful, vibrant and intellectually inclined Beauty Queens and super national Models in the making, were received by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister of State, Dr Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu ahead the forthcoming Grand finale Ceremony of the famous empowerment pageant contest "Queen of Peace".

Speaking during the meeting, the Minister of State for FCT, Dr Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, congratulated the girls and assured the Organization of her support towards promoting their vision and capacity, especially in areas of advancing peace in Nigeria and FCT in particular.

Anambra Union In Rivers Re-elects Comrade Sunny Chidube As President, Receives Accolades

The Association of Anambra State Development Union (AASDU) in Rivers State has successfully held it's Exco elections across the 72 Anambra Towns resident in Rivers state, which led to the re-election of Comr. Sunny Chidube for a second tenure of 3years. The election of Comr. Sunny Chidube has attracted lots of congratulatory messages from several people of Anambra state, both within Rivers state and across the globe.

According to AnambraUpdate, the election was indeed free, fair and acceptable by the entire Members of the Association of Anambra State Development Union (AASDU) in Rivers State, as well as Observers. The election was held on the 26th of July 2021. In a statement by a Member of the Media Team of AASDU, he expressed overwhelming praises at the victory of Comrade Sunny in the just concluded Excos Election of their great Union.

He therefore expressed prayerful congratulations to their President, he says "congratulations to my Comrade and President on the his victory as President of Association of Anambra State Development Union for a second tenure in office. According to Anambra Update, the arrival of Dr. Godwin Maduka to the birthday occasion of Sir Dr. Josephat Kanayo Okoye really stirred up a quite loud ovation, as myriads of people expressed overwhelming joy at the appearance of their Governor in-wait. On arrival, Dr. Maduka congratulated the Celebrant who has been a good and close friend over the years.


Speaking with our Reporter, Maduka thanked God for the grace of a new age for his friend and brother, as he wished him more graceful years ahead. They had several photoshoots together, as well as with other guests and specially invited Personalities, who also graced the occasion.


Sir Dr. Josephat Kanayo Okoye was born in the 1940s in Obeledu, Anaocha LGA of Anambra State in Nigeria. Owning up to life as an Orphan at thirteen years, Sir. Dr. Josephat remained commited to success through the earnest support of his elder brother Chief G.U Okoye. He had his Alma mater at St. Paul’s Obeledu and St. Andrew’s Adazi Nnukwu, after which he got admission into the College of Immaculate Conception, CIC, Enugu, and went to CKC for higher school.


He travelled out of Nigeria on scholarship to the United States of America, where he attended Purdue University in Indiana on scholarship and thereafter had his Masters and Doctorate at California Institute of Technology in Civil Engineering, with specialization in Water Resources. Sir Josephat worked and practiced in the US as a Consulting Engineer with a Consulting and Engineering firm, called Lindson and Juwelts and other firms in San Francisco and Boston, Massachusetts before returning to Nigeria to establish his own firm.

GODWIN MADUKA FOUNDATION CONTINUES VISITS TO CATHOLIC CHURCHES, ASSURES OF WOMEN AND YOUTH EMPOWERMENT.


In Anambra State days ago, several religious groups, churches and the Catholic Women Organization across various districts had thrown their support behind the Candidacy of Dr. Godwin Maduka. This was comfirmed during the visit by Dr. Godwin Maduka and team member of his humanitarian Organization to Churches on the 23rd of July 2021.

According to reports, the Godwin Maduka Foundation visited several Parish, including the Chukwubueze Parish in Osomalla, St Jeo the Worker Parish in Atani, St Michael Catholic Church, Iba Pope Awada and the Holy Family Catholic Church Odume Layout in Obosi. The visit was in view of joining women in celebrating of the August Meeting in Anambra state.

During the Visit, Godwin Maduka received prayers from Members of the Catholic Women Organization (CWO) and Religious Leaders across the several Parishes visited by the Foundation. They prayed seeking God's success for the Governorship vision of Dr. Maduka. The Foundation also shared its integrated vision to remain committed in the empowerment of Ndi Anambra, with assurance of several opportunities in areas of women and youth empowerment, so as to support the overall sporadic growth and advancement of Anambra state.

Speaking during one of the visits Dr. Godwin Maduka noted that his Administration will empower women and children affairs, so as to tackle the routine challenges faced by women in the state, especially in areas of quality education, marginalisation in marriage, unemployment, poverty and amongst other vices.

He therefore assured Ndi Anambra of his development intentions to explore the agribusiness value chain, with a visionary zeal to create employment and empowerment opportunities for women, youths and young Entrepreneurs. Members of the Catholic Women Association in Anambra state have also on the other hand assured Godwin Maduka of their support ahead of the forthcoming Governorship elections.

However, Rev. Fr. David Ozoemena, the Parish Priest of St Benedict Catholic Church Iba Pope Awada appreciated Dr Godwin Maduka for his huge commitments to the growth of the Church and encouraged all Anambranians to join this history that is about to be made. Also, Very Rev. Father Vincent Ezenweka of Holy Trinity Catholic church Iba Pope Awada called on Ndi Anambra to choose wisely during this 2021 Anambra election, as he encouraged them to look beyond personal interest, but rather the general interest of the people of Anambra state which Dr. Maduka is commited to deliver.

AUGUST MEETING: Onitsha, Obosi Catholic Churches, Women Groups Shower Econmiums On Maduka As He Visits

Leading philantropist, Dr Godwin Maduka, has continued to demonstrate his commitment to the things of God and for humanity, through his Foundation.

The Godwin Maduka Foundation, has been highly rated for it's numerous philantropic activities, which has benefited thousands of men, women and youths across Anambra State.

On Friday, July 23, 2021, Maduka, a governorship aspirant, took time off his busy schedule, to lead a team of his Foundation, to visit some churches in Anambra State, where he made assurances on assisting and supporting God's work, an act, he has constantly done in the past, even before he joined politics.

During the visit, Maduka visited St Benndeth Catholic Church, Iba Pope, Awada, where he and his entourage were received by the Parish Priest, Rev Fr.David Ozoemena.

He also visited St Hilary Catholic Church, Iba Pope Awada, St Albert The Great Parish, Odume in Obosi and Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Iba Pope, also in Awada.

Speaking during the visit to the Churches, Maduka promised to continue what he has been doing in the past for them, which is aiding the Church carry out God's work and make useful donations to support various Chruch activities.

He also promised to assist the Churches complete their ongoing projects, because, he is passionate about the things of the church.

In his remarks, the Very Rev Father Vincent Ezenweka of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Iba Pope, recalled Maduka's enormous contributions to human development and advancement of the society.

He noted that the people of Anambra State should consider Maduka for the next governorship election, because he is already self made and has shown passion for the development of Anambra State.

Recall that before Maduka joined the murky waters of politics, he had built a Monastery and Quarters for Catholic Church Reverend Fathers, at his home town of Umuchukwu in Anambra State.

Aside visiting the churches, Maduka also fecilitated with several women groups, such as the reverred Catholic Women Organization, CWO, vowing to continue his assistance to them.

Speaking to some women groups, he commended their resilient spirit, which he said has enabled women become strong pillars of the family.

He noted that the core objectives of his Foundation, is to continue to provide empowerment to women and youths in the society, assuring that he will redouble his efforts in this regard.

Maduka further assured that on behalf of his Foundation, he would provide support for the success of 2021 Women August meeting to several Women groups across Anambra State.

Associations of Ex-Supervising Councilors and Past Political Appointees Endorsed Dr. Godwin Maduka for Governor Anambra State.

…States that the reason for declaring their support for Maduka is because his antecedents has shown them that it is only him that has what it takes to transform Anambra.

On Saturday, the 17th day of July, 2021, the Association of Ex-councillors of Anambra State jointly with the Association of past Political Appointees in Anambra State converged in Dr. Godwin Maduka Foundation office at Awka and unanimously endorsed him for Anambra State Governor. They declared their 100% support for him on the basis of his antecedents, good works, educational background and his workable plans for a better Anambra State. While addressing Ndi Anambra present at the occasion, the Chairman Sir Godson Nnuriam stated that they have carefully done analysis of all the aspirants and concluded that Dr. Maduka stands tall above his contemporaries in this Governorship race. They stated that looking at Dr. Maduka’s antecedents, the things he has done before venturing into politics, looking at his philanthropic gestures and outreaches, his educational qualifications and also his wonderful blueprint for Anambra, you will see a man ready in all angles to transform Anambra State.

Dr. Maduka Visits Hospital He Built, Renders financial support to patients

…Reiterates that no patient should pay a dime for treatment in the hospital.

Yesterday, Dr. Godwin Maduka visited Trinitas Hospital, Umuchukwu; the hospital he built, equipped to the full and donated to the Catholic Diocese of Ekwulobia to oversee its affairs. This is his usual way of routinely visiting the hospital. He made a stop from ward to ward, discussed with the patients and supported them with funds for their feedings and upkeep while they recuperate.

Note that since the inception of Trinitas Hospital, Umuchukwu, the hospital was made free to all the people, nobody had been charged any kobo for hospital treatment. Dr Maduka on his own provides funds for defraying of patients hospital bills as well as adequate funds with which the hospital functions.

While on his entourage was the Reverend father Incharge of St. Jude’s Catholic Church, Umuchukwu, Dr Maduka’s home parish. He joined him in the inspection and thanked Dr. Maduka for his good heart, kind and humane gestures meted out to all the patients and other numerous contributions to his community and beyond. He prayed God to continue to bless Dr. Maduka more abundantly.

On the sidelines were the affected patients who could not hold their excitements as they shed tears of joy, prayed to God to protect, bless and sustain Dr Maduka.

As dignatries from various walks of life, stormed the funeral of the mother of Obi Iyiegbu, popularly called Obi Cubana, the event became more glamorous when the duo of astute businessman, Olakunle Churchill and frontline politician, Godwin Maduka, graced the ceremony, at Oba, Anambra State.

The duo on arrival were warmly received by other guests who were at the event to mourn and celebrate with their long time friend and ally, Obi Cubana.

The event which has turned to a gathering of Politicians, celebs, socialites had in attendance top music artists such as Davido, Phyno, D Banj, Phyno, K Cee.

Host of Abia Children's Quiz Competition, Queen Irene Onwuka Speaks On Impact Of Quiz Fiesta For Children

Nigerian ex Beauty Queen and Philanthropist, who doubles as the Founder QIOP Foundation and Sponsor of Quiz Fiesta, a quiz competition conducted for Secondary schools in Abia State, Queen Irene Onwuka has expressed her determination to prepare today's children for futuristic rewards through the wealth of our virtues.


She made the reaction during the final ceremonial event of Abia State School Quiz Competition/Fiesta. According to reports the quiz which was quite competitive had ended with the emergence of Adventist Secondary Technical College as the Winner of the Competition with One Million naira prize awaedy, followed by Abayi Girls Secondary School as 2nd Winner with the prize award of Five Hundred Thousand Naira and Ehere Junior Secondary School Obingwa, as the third Winner with the prize award of three hundred thousand naira.


Other awards and recognitions during the event included sizable trophies, presentation of certificates of Participation and merit awards to selected Personalities who have made significant impacts in the educational sector in Abia State. Still speaking during the occasion, Queen Irene Onwuka noted that the objective of the quiz competition was to set a unique pace for improved investment in the todays children so as to have a better and greater national future.


She further stated her prospective confidence in provisional requirements of quality education, stressing that it is the bedrock for national growth and development. She however adviced parent to be careful in their decisions, with regards to prospective purposes of either preparing the future for our children by virtue of our wealths in wills or preparing our children for the future by the wealth of our virtues.


The Ceremony was however attended by key Stakeholders in the education sector in Abia state and it witnessed the participation of distinguished personalities, specially invited Guests, parents, guardians and other participants. Our sources had also confirmed that the competition was conducted by proficient Umpires who strived-on, until the best cadets emerged across all categories.
