Health / Re: I Need Help On How To Quit Marijuana Dependency. by dakotchic(f): 7:19am On Dec 29, 2018
Hi dear
You are already on the right path by asking for help. Insight and the will to quit is very important when dealing with issues like this. I would suggest finding and registering with a mental health institution near you and they will sign post you accordingly. All the best and always know that when there’s a will there will always be a way!

It just hurts to know that over 3years ago Nigerians suffered unduely because the power house of the tertiary centres went on a similar strike. It may surprise one that today's strike and that of 3 years ago have similar agitations. It's also important to note that these are under two different governments and ministers... Does this not show our attitude to healthcare as a nation?

[quote author=TripleKMama post=49178615][b]the trick I use to get cheaper cab fares is this:at the airport I join one of the car rental(eg Hertz, alomo) vans to their office out side the airport then I ask the person at the help desk to help call a cab. Always way cheaper than renting from the airport grin

gemale:

Na y u no come b doctor. Neither of those substances dey cause sub arachnoid hemorrhaging.
GBTYO:

Patient underwent a dental procedure most likely under local anaesthesia.

Was the dose administered appropriately?

Did the patient fully recovered from his sedated state prior to being rushed to an alternative hospital where he later died?

Going by the source from the Turkish hospital, the patient was in an unconscious state when he arrived their hospital. So that only proves to a certain degree that the patient underwent a botched dental operation most likely due to wrong administration of local anaesthesia.

Not everybody is a gbana lord like your Tinubu.
Local anaesthesia(LA) does not cause sedation bro, that's why the name is so. Only thing is the adrenaline added to the LA may cause a surge in blood pressure,i.e if inadvertently injected intravascularly, resulting in sub arach hemorrhage esp in someone with some form of malformations viz:berry aneurysm or AC malformations which are not rare. On another note cocaine and other psychotropic drugs actually cause subarachnoid hemorrhage, even worse if he got LA with adrenaline for a dental procedure. Ya so many postulation but the young man gone too soon! RIP to him and may God comfort those he left.

Hello house, advice is needed o.

So I used compression socks enroute New York and since I got here and for the first time all thru my pregnancy, my feet and legs are swollen..

And my appointment is not until next week.

How do I manage this situation.

Thanks in advance

Besides the cold and wet socks already advised, please get your blood pressure checked asap either at any pharmacy or urgent care that's if you are unable to do that at home.

Now that's bad practice! Not because he is a family physician but because he acted as a bad doctor, who doesn't know his limitations and how to be sincere to his patients and when to ask for help!

And CSECTION? That's the one I am concerned about o!
No dear a C-section isn't straightforward delivery even though a family physician may be licensed to do some C/S. I do not know his personal limitations as per that but emergency first time c/s can be done by an FP. You may want to read this link:

You can definitely contribute, we are all here to share and can learn from each other..... The bone of contention here is that this Dr left this person when it became obvious that the VB he was hoping for wasn't going to pan out... He has LIMITATIONS.

As i submitted earlier, i had a relative who used to deliver babies with zero medical skills..... Hausa fulani teenagers dont even go for one ANC and deliver at home, thats not an issue...

All i know is that one of the reasons people give for going to the US to have their babies, i dont believe anyone will knowingly choose a family medicine practitioner over an ob gyn, no ma
Ma'm personally I will, Infact I will chose a nurse sef! But that's if he is more affordable and the index pregnancy is uncomplicated and is probably my 2nd or 3rd pregnancy. That being said, most people who come on here are out for cheap/affordable hospitals and doctors and not particularly for better health care, cos the quest is mostly for the pali and every other thing is extra. If it weren't we should all be on a thread looking for how to give birth in Finland or Sweden which have better health indices than the US ok.
And again there are other doctors that have been mentioned here who are not Obgyns please e.g. Dr Soyoola

He is not a board certified ob gyn, learn to retreat when you have been served!!

You were so special to him that he dropped everything to rush to you at home , undecided you couldn't make it to the hospital abi? And he waived the hospital fees too or did you pay that as well.??

Just leave this matter alone, if you dont.............. lipsrsealed

Please o mamas, may I come in here. In ideal settings straight forward pregnancy care and delivery do not have to be taken by an Obstetrician, Infact in the UK and Canada, midwives play this role significantly. So it is not illegal or unauthorised for a family physician to take deliveries. Finally a family physician in the US is not a GP as per Nigerian standards where a GP has no postgraduate qualifications. He is a specialist with at least 3 years of postgraduate specialisation.

If ur having issues with prenatal care in naija / medical report u can holla.

Yes they can meet you for prenatal care if you are a doctor/midwife. But please it is highly unethical, morally wrong and wicked for you to write a medical report for someone you haven't cared for medically or examined medically. Please desist from such if you have been doing it biko. I know Nigeria may be lawless but you shouldn't make it worse. Pregnancy is a special critical period albeit physiological and shouldn't be toyed with. Okbye#

Please take a critical look at your itemized bill and you can ask for an auditing of your bill. That bill of yours is way too much! Well except you stayed 4 days in the hospital + 4 hours in the labour room/recovery after delivery, if not please contest it. I noticed they make a lot of mistakes in favour of higher bills.

Yes I did. On the form ds11 it says you should use zeroes if you don't have the ssn and I did that. I only paid 145usd to the agent at the consulate on roswell road and told him I needed it urgently.

I went to the probate court to get the BC printed 5days after delivery. The BC is the only acceptable evidence of US birth or right to citizenship so one can't apply without it in this case.
I filled my US contact on that part of the form.

You don't necessarily need to book an appointment. But I did because I used the opportunity to take a tour of the hospital. If you have any other questions you can ask here as a couple others gave birth there too and may have one or two more things to add otherwise you can pm me. All the best!

I don't think there's a price increase just a more realistic presentation of their quotes @gwinett. I used the agent near the consulate office for the Nigerian passport and the 145usd includes his fees.

Thanks so much for writing this. Been wondering what their bill is like. 2535 is reasonable. Where did u stay and how long did It take for u to process the baby's documents?
I stayed at milton with family. Got the ssn by mail within 2weeks of delivery(I asked the hospital to apply),US passport was ready by the 2nd working day but I asked them to mail it and I got it within a week. I also got them to mail the Nigerian passport and it arrived within 1 week. So in 2 weeks you should have all your documents. The US passport cost 165usd for expedited at the passport agency and I spent 145usd for the Nigerian one.

@ you gotten your bills yet from gwinnett, am eager to get mine and they keep telling me it takes 10-15 days

Hi concerning gwinnett bills. It does usually take that long except you keep calling the customer care line everyday to ask for your bill. Had my baby at Gwinnett in November. I must say I was impressed with my OBGYN's level of care, however I was a little disappointed with the nurses: this is because of their attitude towards epidural in labour. They were not supportive of it despite the doctor's orders and they turned me to a Hebrew woman by force!lol. All in all it was a great experience (this is my 3rd delivery and I had epidural in labour for the other 2). My bills eventually turned out to be 2535usd for mum and 513usd for my baby after the 40% discount. Paediatrician/neonatologist fee was 150usd and obgyn(Dr oduro) was 2150. I had 3drips (2ringer's lactate and 1oxytocin drip) during labour and we were discharged after a 24hour stay at the hospital. I hope this helps someone.

Thanks for the post about drivers licence. Now how do we go about applying for the International driver's license?

One can drive with the new FRSC's DL. We rented a car from Hertz and we are currently driving here. Infact taxis are so expensive and for those of us staying at the suburbs, there's hardly any bustops or MARTA. BTW, in Georgia, it's permissible to use a foreign DL for upto 30 days after which one can apply for the state permit etc. So do check with the state's motor vehicle administration in person or online to confirm.

I think if you have a CS they will clean up the womb before they close you up, which includes the fibroid.

No! A Lot of Obgyns don't advocate a caeserean myomectomy because of the tendency to bleed excessively etc, so I doubt anyone will go looking for it except it hinders the process of bringing out the baby. And usually a 24mm fibroid in pregnancy isn't worrisome as most times it will shrink once the pregnancy hormones fade after delivery. But then again it's best to speak with your physician in particular and hear out his specific opinion and experience with c/s myomectomy +- embolization.

Hi treasure!you could consider other affordable hospitals like Emory midtown, and it may be closer to your folks and they also have a maternity package of less than 5500usd and it's a reputable hospital. Try and go through jaejae's posts somewhere on this thread where she gave a list of hospitals and doctors in atlanta area with their price quotes. All the best!

[quote author=anonymousmum post=27259536]Hello folks, I have a question this fine Saturday evening...

My husband does not have a US visa, and wants to apply, reason being to witness the birth of his child. His travel History - UK multiple times, and Dubai.

My concern is that, should he apply after I successfully land in the US (I will be travelling mid-Dec to Houston)?

Or should he apply now? i.e does it matter. In my mind, I feel he should apply after I get there but he thinks he can apply anytime..

Okay let me try and answer using our case. My DH got his visa solely for the purpose of witnessing the birth of our child and he was only asked for a copy of my visa page. I hadn't travelled either then, and the purpose of my visa was not for birthing although I wrote to the consulate informing them of my intentions a week before his interview date. He took all necessary documents though he wasn't asked. In summary I guess he can go anytime!

Elpaso mums aint you pipo going to california? Pls mihs mums what is airline policy in january mentioned in the last thread?

Okay airline policy for twins and multiples- most airlines will not carry a woman pregnant with twins/multiples after 28weeks gestational age. Unlike women carrying singletons that can usually fly upto 32weeks and even 36weeks for some airlines. And no it's not something that has to do with January or any other month.
P.s -had my first appointment with Dr Oduro today and he was so fantastic(yes!that's why I logged on today on this page just to give a feedbackcheesy). Thanks to whoever discovered him kiss
