LFP Batteries made all these possible, batteries were the weak point in the RE industry but now, the story has changed, I remember we were changing our Trojan AGM every 6 months or so, and now LFP has been taken over.

Omo...these steep roofs(send down the rain roofs) are really bad for solar generation.
These past few weeks, my battery has barely charged past 45 to 50%. Something that gets to 100% b4 2pm before now. It's seems the sun direction has changed. Now it currently favours North on my roof while my panels are facing south.
The solution now is an expensive solution. I need to install new panels facing north and buy a new charge controller and cables

By the way, who sells growatt 120A charge controller. I need one for this upgrade.

the poor generation is just temporary for one or 2 months. You can add more solar to compensate.

Your lithium batteries like it better not getting fully charged. just don't over-discharge below 3.0v.

This is a mixup.

I wanted a 4 battery pack that I can use to jumpstart the car and if I am very adventurous, I can use it instead of the LA battery in my car.

I just need 4 cells and a BMS.

Hence the expression jumpstart pack

4 cells, you can even use those Smaller LFP 30AH cells, that allow up to 8C discharge
and get a BMS that can handle ~300A surge.

Quick question for all the gurus in the house...

I'm seriously looking at changing to lithium batteries. My challenge is the cost. I've also seen people advice that you can start small and add more later.

My questions are

1. Can multiple brands be coexist? for example, if i get a good deal on a 10kwh felicity battery today, and a deal on a 10kwh blue carbon tomorrow, can I add them?

2. can multiple power capacities coexist? say I can only afford 5kwh today, and tomorrow i'm able to buy 10 or 15kwh, can I add them together? or will I be stuck with 5kwh increments?

3. What's the maximum period between such additions? if I buy a lithium battery today, Can I add another maybe in a year or two? for tubular batteries, people usually say that it's not advisable.

I will say Yes to all the questions!

With adequate knowledge of LFP and the Installer who knows what they are doing, you can use LFP of different capacities and brands.

Why Is this Possible, LFP packs have this Flat voltage Curve under load which allows them to be flexible.
you will be able to use the range of 3.1V to 3.45V, as long as the 5KWH and 10WH are in parallel, you will be fine.

These are typical Cell characteristics based on what you posted on that screenshot.
A standard 100Ah Cell has about 107AH capacity from 2.5V to 3.65V.
Rated capacity is from 3.00V to 3.400V so you have 100AH usable from this range.
I maintained this you can use up to 90% (90AH) of the capacity which means you are cycling within 3.40 V down to about 3.1V range.
Now is this advisable or not?

What some people have are 90AH being sold as 100AH, because it is close to 100Ah from 2.5V to 3.65V
Hence they cant recommend someone doing 90% from the batteries because it will mean they will discharge below 3.0V
Hope readers learnt something, I didn't mean any harm I just recall you build packs

Please, go back and check my post again. I didn't say we can't charge lifepo4 battery or discharge above the working voltage ranges. Whatever charging and discharging method you adopt is good for you.
On the issue of grade A and B cells, it's very wrong to look down on other people's choice. I've always being in the frontline here condemning the activities of labelling grade B cells as A or telling people we sell grade A cells when it's not. This is a faceless forum, coming here to boast about having grade A cells while others are having B is very wrong.
Drop you manufacturer test report and I will drop mine.

Sure, it's fine. Just ensure to not exceed the VOC and Current ratings, due to weather conditions here, you wont get 405w unless for some underrated panels.

Drop your manufacturer test report and let's asses your grade A cells.

A cell Discharged at 0.5C will have a certain internal temperature due to a chemical reaction at that discharge rate.

well, that was my cells, and I use from 3.5V to 3.1V which gives me over 90%+ DOD. I don't need to post any reference, I have had my cells in good condition for over 3 years and counting, not the regular Grade B cells you guys touts around and use to make general statements!

and if you read the information on the picture you shared, you will see that 3.00v to 3.4V is where 100% capacity is, same you say don't discharge below 3.00 that is use 100% of the capacity.

It's always good and advisable to have a moderate profile which keep Lfp within the working voltage ranges without stressing any cells.
Discharging below the knees of 3.0v for each cell is not really advisable.

Why is it, not advisable, Una self?
A company produce Cells and simulated them, charge and discharge @0.5C from 3.65V to 2.5V and the cell came out with 3000+ Cycle and dropped to 80% capacity.
The reason una dey conservative is that most of you guys are doing packs with grade B cells that are poorly balanced and matched.
3.5V to 3.1V is 90%+ DOD. you are at ~15% when cells hits 3.2V norminal

Just to be clearer.
Whether you use your pack or not will be degrading with calendar aging.
If you like using only 10AH every day from your 100AH pack, I use mine to 95AH.

at the end of 1000 days, you have used 10,000AH. while I have 95,000AH.. which is equivalent to 1000 cycles.

even if I have less capacity left I have used a lot of capacity from the batteries. So its your choice whether to use less or more.

Chai, you initially plan to use a 600w load on Tasha.
~3 hours to 4 hours, you can use up to 90% DOD on LFP.

Running a 7.5KVA Inverter, the Tubular batteries required to run and last long effectively will reach 16 units. so you are better off using a minimum 10KWH 48V Lithium ion, which is still in the range of 2.5M.

Gone are those days when the only option was PWM controllers where more current is pushed, also going are those 100V Charge controller limits. where you need more current around 30A hence you need thicker cable.

An advantage to Hybrid with High Voc PV input is saving the cost of cabling compared to low VOC or PWM controllers.
In essence, the knowledge you are seeking is of the past, High VOC input requires less current usually under 20A

That's what the installer I contacted said I need to run it. How bad is it? And how easy is it to get the one you are recommending? Someone also told me that because the panels are big that the cables have to be 10mm.

seems you consulted a Kazeem, using Size of panel to determine the cable size.

Cable are sized based on VMP, IMP and distance.

Well, going by 10KWH LFP Sunking, 3.5KVA, and 4500W panels, for 11M is not bad, similar prices on Sumec Fireman, Prag, Pylontech, Fouani LG, and co.

I have advised my neighbour to request for his money on, because Na fight go end that relationship!

Incomplete information, we need to hear from the installer as well, we remember the story of 800K stop-gap to power PS5 for 16 hours.

Full upgrade means new hardware, your old hardware needs to give way!

What type of ACs are these?
A 6KW Growatt Hybrid Inverter can replace 7.5kVA with an Inbuilt 8KW MPPT.
Batteries must be LFP at least 15KWH, with Solar Panels at 5KW minimum.
