Congratulations. Can I send you a mail please. lightofjoy: |
You need a Reference letter from your Project Supervisor in school or any of your lecturers. That means you will need Academic Reference rather than Work (professional) reference letter since you have not been working. Some Uni really need you to submit a reference without which they may not attend to your application or they will send you a reference request mail or they will give you a conditional offer or they may even reject your application. So rush and get a reference from your supervisor/lecturer. Gracias. naxclimpsey: |
Since you are aware that you are still using your maiden name, I believe you should have submitted marriage certificate, pictures, evidence of communication like whatsapp calls. However, let's hear the experience of married couple with different surname. Josnwa2k8: |
All you need is the Baby's birth certificate (National Population Commission), the Dad/Mom's NIN slip and the mother's presence. The mother will thumbprint for the baby as the baby's thumbprint cannot be captured yet. And baby must be awake so they can capture his/her image. Ehi22: |
I can see the plan. . . . . Hmmmm. . . . I can see what is about to happen. Soon the UK Gov will make things more difficult. shady45: |
Congrats on success at admission stage. Please when did you apply? I also applied for January intake, no response from them yet. Expecting an offer from them soonest. Fredaogb: |
I understand and agree with you. With that detailed DIY response, I believe he would have learnt the right way to go. Read, Research, read from different source again and when you don't understand, then you can ask. I learnt a lot from this forum by reading responses at day and night even till now. willyede: |
While it is an intellectual community of like minds where people give information, you also need to have done some homework before coming here using Google or this timeline. Read through the list given on different pages on this forum or search using this NL forum search . You will see a list of Unis with January admission. Birbeck, Portsmouth, Angelia Ruskin, Essex, Surrey, Sheffield Hallam, Bradford, Sunderland, Bournemouth, Creative Art, Northampton, Northumbria, Southampton SOlent, West Wales, East London, GCU, Robert Gordon are a list of some Unis with January 2023 intake. Put the Uni names on google and search for the course you want on the Uni's postgraduate taught study section and you will see tuition fee. It varies for courses even across a Uni. Best of luck. ubom123: |
My advice. . . though I'm still here in Naija o It's not about N7M or N5M. It's about how much is the expected POF which you need to have in your account and be ready to show at the POE. POF in this scenario is the sum of your tuition balance as stated in your CAS and your living expense for 9 months depending on if you'll stay in London or not. Add both in pounds and use Oanda rate to convert it to Naira. Feedback from Nigerian from POE is that some get asked to show their funds in their account from their app or from debit card and some are not asked....Grace and luck, time and chance. Having gone this far, being safe is always always the best bet. Shallom! Joyfulsol194: |
I pray you get the visa. Wishing you the best. I didn't say it isn't impossible. In fact I said it is not impossible but he should ask Nairalanders on the possibilities and how to go about it. However, what you stated here is different from what you advise him to do. Your marriage certificate date was after he applied for the visa. But you advised him to ensure his marriage certificate date is before she applied. His case and application has to be water-tight so as not to make it look false and make his visa application as a dependent successful 'cos they are genuinely getting married unlike the arrangee dependent stuff that seems to be on the rise now. I wish him the best. Blessingalozie: |
The challenge while he may find it difficult to get a visa as his gf's dependent is that the girlfriend would have mentioned that she is single, unmarried and does not have a dependent in her visa application. So if they get married now (after gf has been granted visa), even if they backdate marriage certificate to reflect that they married before her visa application and they take plenty pictures, how ill she explain to UKVI that she forgot to state that she is married in her visa application. It's very tight if not impossible. Chances are slim.

|
Congratulations on your gf's visa. Sure you can explore the option of going to the UK as her dependant after marriage. But there are few questions. 1. What's your mission in UK...Strictly Education (Masters) or japa (Japa by Education route) 2. Are you sure she is the one you want to marry? Did you made the decision to spend the rest of your life with her before all this travelling started? Are you ready to marry her cos of shared values and dreams and do you see a future with no issues/drama with her ? Are you the one pushing marriage or she? 3. Did she include you as her dependent in her Visa application. If your answer to Question 3 is No, it may be difficult if not impossible for you to become her dependent and join her in less than 6 months(if her program is 1 year). If your answer to Question 2 is that you want to really marry her for genuine reasons, please go ahead. But know that that may not automatically give you the opportunity to travel as her dependent as documentation for her visa didn't say you are her spouse. If your answer to Question 1 is just Education. Be calm apply for January intake, choose same Uni as hers, it's not too late. you may be lucky to get admission. However I hope both of you have your full tuition cos if you don't, you won't be able to support each other to pay tuition balance except if you have assured financial support back in Nigeria. Otherwise if it is just for japa, you getting married and joining her later may be an option if she gets a skilled worker visa after school. But be ready to have lot of patience of not being with your "new wife" for over a year. You can ask NL about chances of including a spouse as a dependent after visa has been issued. omega2128: |
I've also applied to ARU for January 2023 intake. Though my first application was rejected, I have applied for another course this week. Hoping I grace will speak for me. I've applied to 12 other unis for January intake. Fingers crossed while I'm expecting good news from others before the end of the month. Princewado: |
Thank you for the advice. The wait has started. I keep checking my phone for mail every 2 hrs. Hoping an offer can drop. aristosoft: |
Thanks for the advice, I've searched Bangor website, no Psychology or Education-related course is starting in January victorVIC1: |
Thanks NTU has minumum no of courses for January and none of the courses are in my choice options. Otherwise, I would have preferred NTU. SpongeBobSP: |
JANUARY 2023 INTAKE: HELP I started applying for January 2023 intake since July into UK Universities and Between July and today (September 8, 2022), I've applied to 9 UK Universities namely Northumbria, Bournemouth, Derby, Northampton, Anglia Ruskin, Strathclyde, Hudderfield, Essex and Hertfordshire. Only 1 (Anglia Ruskin) has rejected my application. Others are yet to reply. Brethren and Sisters on NL with experience, kindly suggest UK Unis with January 2023 intake that offers admission FASTER and those that won't require POF for CAS so I can apply to them. If they respond fast, I'm praying I can pay tuition with Form A before the possible deadline of Dec. Please help. DON'T IGNORE ME! NOTE: I am looking out for Psychology courses, Education leadership courses, and the likes of 1 year course. Something to take advantage of the Occupation shortage list. |
Thank you. Like I mentioned I have applied to Anglia Ruskin, they gave me a love letter (rejection). Though Coventry doesn't have MSc Psychology or Educational leadership and Management for January Intake, I will take your advise and apply for Hertfordshire. Thank you. Zoey1: |

DO NOT TRY IT! If you move your money/POF out of your account, say bye bye to your visa and you may get a ban sef. You've heard that visa approval process now take longer, people that have shared testimonies have said minimum of 6 weeks, you did biometrics just this month and you're complaining. Just go and pray for favorable result. Have you not heard on this forum that it may be necessary to leave the POF in your account even till you arrive in UK as they may ask at the Airport? Leave the money there and be ready to pay for it o Issokay o. A word they say is enough for the wise Alliswell123: |
I already mentioned that I don't know about this process. I am not a NIMC contractor, neither do I work in NIS. Follow the steps I lay out there in my earlier response. Gracias Darmiegold: |
Naturally, when there is mistake on DOB, you go to NIMC office and apply for correction of DOB, fill some form and submit birth certificate; cost is about N15K and it may take between 6months to 1 year cos NIMC is messed up at the moment and there are cabals that are ripping Nigerians off and making simple things difficult if not impossible so that people can pay to get it done. If you go through Nigerian backdoor, that is if you have a contact at NIMC, they may collect between N35k-N45k and it may not reflect till 1-3months at the earliest. Until it is resolved, your baby can't capture for international passport and it will delay your trip. But lemme tell you one truth, NIMC contractors/agencies that know how messed up everything is will tell you to re-enroll that baby again for NIN. Re-enrolling can only work for Baby and children less than 9yrs or so based on what I heard they do which isn't right anyway. For adults, that doesn't suffice. Such adult has to go through normal route stated above. So go an re-enroll in another center for the NIN, get all the details right this time around. And you may need to pay NIS or NIMC official for immediate validation so Immigration officials at the passport office can see it on NIMC database and your baby can go for capture you get your passport and japa from this frustrating country. All this may cost you less than 10k and you can resolve it within 1 week. Meet with the right people. I don't know anyone o. I also read this on social media. Darmiegold: |
Bro, thanks so much for finding time to reply. I appreciate. I've searched YORK St John website but they don't have the courses I want. I want any course that'll increase my prospect of staying after studies e.g. Psychology courses because I'm targeting life after M. Sc. as Psychology is on the Job shortage list. It'll make it easy to get a Skilled job visa as that profession is in demand. The only one they have - Psychology of child and Adolescent Development is not accredited by BPS and as such you can't practice in UK. Thanks Ebuca: |
Chuksy12:I perfectly understand the mail. Different mail was sent to different people. I have my reasons why I said it's "Painful but we move..." The mail sent to me said something different. See it attached.

Good CV Please I need suggestion. You can mail me. HELP ME o!!! dee1504: |
I also got the mail. Painful but then we move. I pray greater and better opportunity opens up soon. Admission in UK this year and next year will be highly competitive...More Nigerian also moving. Forex will get crazier next year as Naira will lose value further in 2023, I guess that's why more people want to move now ayowalerock: |
QUESTION ON REFERENCE I want to ask my References for a Reference Letter as most UK universities ask that one should upload it at the point of applying. But I will like to ask Honourable Members of this domain with adequate experience if it is acceptable to submit a Generic Reference letter that doesn't state the university I'm applying to or any course I'm applying for as I am spreading my tentacles by applying for 2-3 courses in several Universities because of time deadline issue especially as most of them respond late anyway. I'm just trying to boost my chances of getting early Yes from many applications. I've applied to 7 so far, no response. I honestly need responses from people's experience dealing with this Universities. Thank you in advance for your feedback and response. |
Hi Giantgyal. You have done a good job of helping her because quite a number of people will refer her to google or abuse her. But honestly, SOP is something you should be able to write and do excellently. it's just a matter of focusing your mind on it, doing a bit of research on the course of study, emerging trends and even the University of choice and taking time to do it as if your life depends on it. Well done. Giantgyal: |
