PoliticsRe: Why Is Nigeria Invaribaly Portrayed In A Negative Light In The West? by Danmasani(m): 3:17pm On Jan 08, 2007
I think the western press and general portrayal of Africa is disgusting and deplorable. I think it is more of showing to the world that their culture and ways are the best and the way forward. I hate each time on TV i see Africa portrayed as some insect-infested, uncultured, uncivilized and poverty-striken continent. Unfortunately, even some of the Africans repoting for western agencies tend to do the same-portray their motherland bad- eg Jeff Koinage from CNN. I think Africa really needs to sell herself another way-the Arabs just opened an International Al-Jazzerah Cable network, we could do the same to show that Africa isn't all about strive, poverty, disease and people dont live on treess with spears!
PoliticsRe: Census Results Out - More Males Than Females by Danmasani(m): 2:42pm On Jan 07, 2007
shango:
who here will actually defend the census result that Hausas outnumber Igbos and Yorubas and are the largest ethnic group in Nigeria.

I would like people who are defending the ridicolous Census data to please prove and show where the 60 million (approximately 40% of 140 million) Hausas are residing? Because I was born and raised in Kaduna and travelled to many Northern states and cities like Sokoto, Kano, Zairia, etc and Quasi Northern States and cities like Jos and Kwara, and compared to Ondo, Oyo, Lagos, Benin, they where mostly sparse.

So who here thinks Nigeria has 60 million Hausas?
There you start again. I think you better wait for Makama's data to prove that to you! some people have nothing to contribute on this forum. "He has lived in the north and travelled past Jos" and came to conclusion that the North is sparsely populated and lying about her numbers. Its like riding down Alaska and saying the US is sparsely populated! fool
PoliticsRe: Is This Going To Happen? -- Atiku to be Disqualified! by Danmasani(m): 2:25am On Jan 05, 2007
McKren:
People are confusing issues, he has not been prosecuted because he is protected by the immunity not because he is clean. He should resign lets see how clean he is.
Investigations and searches by EFCC, FG taking him to court for various charges, his denial of his constitutional alloted jet, his ejection from his house, seizure of his cars and security detail, removal of his aides and worst of all, his "sacking: from the government are all not persecution right?
Probably you want to see him in handcuffs first or in a hangman's loose to believe he is persecuted!

It is all the fall-out of 3rd term. Atiku brought OBJ's ambitions down. It's now payback time!
Christianity EtcRe: Speaking In Tongues: What's That All About? by Danmasani(m): 7:18am On Jan 04, 2007
I was in a Nigerian church in Brent Cross, London early last year and the pastor was talking about "how to speak in tongues". As usual, my mind was not in his sermons. So prayer time came and dude says, "Begin to speak in tongues"- speaking in tongues is something i believe you dont learn nor begin to do it at will. It is inspired!
So people were busy talking jibberish as usual, calling their local headmaster's name and suddenly i hear the sound "Tunde, Tunde" from Pastor's mouth. I turned and was looking at pastor and i can swear that at least 5 people, including my sister who pursued me to church were starring at the dude.

Pastor, "tunde" na Yoruba person name and no be speaking in tongues, which one be ur own. Later after the tongue wagging and barking, dude was like God told him to give a message to Tunde ( yeah right!).

Summary- 99% of people speaking in tongues is fake. dont fool urselves people. Peace

Deviation from topic:
Some evangelist and their followers in Nigeria amaze me. How can Pastor be living off my Naira, ride Limosine with escorts in a convoy, have a summer break in Cancun and flies first class when I am still hustling to make 3 meals a day! Nigerians must come to their senses
Foreign AffairsRe: Saddam Hussein Is Dead by Danmasani(m): 7:00am On Jan 04, 2007
Too much wrong have been done in Iraq. I can't even think of any solution for those guys right now. I think Nigerians should be grateful that our country is fearing "better" compared to this guys. The daily death tolls in Iraq is unbelievable. I honestly think Iraq is in civil war right now and the US is just wasting her time and soldiers lives. Hanging Saddam i think was very wrong. Saddam should have been jailed for life. Now video of Shittes taunting him during his execution will boil iraq and escalate violence for the next few days. The Maliki administration and Us government have simply shot themselves on the foot.
Saddam didnt cause 9/11, had no ties to terrorist and was a stabilizing force despite being a dictator in Iraq. US just went looking for trouble and are now in a deep shit. Bush and his cabinet must do the right thing no matter who disgraceful it is right now- Pull out those troops. Iraqis should fight themselves, when they are tired, they'll stop!
PoliticsRe: Is This Going To Happen? -- Atiku to be Disqualified! by Danmasani(m): 6:50am On Jan 04, 2007
If Atiku is proved to have embezzeled money and brought his office to ridicule, then he should be reprimanded for it. But to first illegaly "sack" him as VP and try and disqualify him for elections in 2007 shows how disgusting Obasanjo is. Obasanjo i think is behaving like a child, blocking Atiku's intentions left and right and not giving the guy space. It is stupid. All thses certainly stems from Atiku's role in the 3rd term project. Everyone accuses Atiku of stealing, well evidence should be presented to Nigerians before any action is taken against the guy. Saminu Turaki,Bola Tinubu, Attahiru Bafarawa have all decamped to PDP, AC and DPP and nothing has been done against them. Why then must Atiku be the fall-out guy. It is called double-standards and Nigerians must tell Obasanjo to allow Atiku to retain his VP. Nigerians vote in less than 4 months and will select who they want. Curbing Atiku now only brings more sympathy to his cause which could translate to more votes.
Atiku too should have resigned. You can't be part of a government and try to sink its ship. It only shows the calibre of people we have as Nigerian leaders. I think they youth need to stand up as soon as possible!
PoliticsRe: President Of Nigeria In 2007: Who? <Poll> by Danmasani(m): 6:40am On Jan 04, 2007
Thisday Newspaper this morning talks about southwest support for Muhammadu Buhari. I honestly think that BUhari despite being an incorruptible, upright man should not become the president of Nigeria. I believe his truncation of the second republic is enough to rule him out. Yes,he did a good job curbing out corruption and sanitizing Nigeria but that was tyhe military era. This is a democracy where human rights ought to be respected. Gone are the days where flogging people for urinating on the road or execution for drug-peddling was done.
Buhari should remain a critic of the government. His voice is respected unlike assholes like IBB. He should remain a voice like Gowon. Besides Yar'adua has a persona like him and can also fight corruption head on. My only prayer is that Yar'adua should be a man of his own come May 2007, surround himself with Technocrats rather than miscreants and slowly purge PDP of disgusting elements like Olabode George, Ibrahim Mantu.

However, every Nigerian has a right to vote and be voted for so Buhari can do whatever he wants, but i think what Nigeria needs from him right now is a voice of a statesman.

I wish Okotie was in the PDP, but someone like him can't even win primaries for Local Govt. Chairman under the PDP, it's just not possible, unless he's into the dirty game as well.

I pity the other parties. It's Like Brazil versus Sierra Leone Chelsea Vs Nassarawa United.

Shoot I wanted Sango to win, where do you people get such exclusive news, please share, knowledge is power
Mantu tried all he could to impose Sango but it did not work. I didn't want Jonah Jang winning either. He is too old. Plateau State needs someone like Jimmy Cheto or John Alikali.

PoliticsRe: Yar'adua Picks Governor Jonathan Goodluck As Presidential Running Mate ! by Danmasani(m): 1:35am On Dec 18, 2006
Honestly an Atiku/Duke,Buhari/Duke or Marwa/Duke ticket will break PDP's ticket anyday!. I even hope it does. My only problem is that a PDP controlled state government and house of assembly will adversely affect the Federal Government if Yar'adua does not win. PDP is toying with the fortunes of 150 million Nigerian. Nigeria is now an autocracy. This is wrong. Government must atleast have some resemblance to be For The People. Duke is a people person, Jonathan is some name that should stop in Bayelsa. He has not even been governor for more than 15months.

Hope PDP fails. I was for Yar'adua yesterday, i doubt that today!. The PDP equation is wrong!
PoliticsRe: Yar'Adua: President In Waiting? by Danmasani(m): 1:26am On Dec 18, 2006
Someone said on another post that a Marwa/Duke ticket or an Atiku/Duke ticket will break the Yar'Adua/Jonathan campaign and bring PDP down. That is absolute true. Borrowing words from the great Chuba Okadigo, PDP has definately failed in this 'Political Arithmetic'. First of all Yar'Adua is not so popular but is viewed as incorruptible, humble and will be a good leader. But PDP should have paired him up with Duke. For God's sake, Duke has the capability of luring almost every Nigerian youth to his campaign train. Even the ladies will vote for this guy for his looks alone. I wonder why Obasanjo and the rest of the PDP stalwarts can be so stupid. Reasons like appeasing the Ijaws with the VP slot is nonsense. They will be no peace in the Niger-Delta if there is no justice. Nigeria is not only about the Ijaws, it is about 150million people. Yesterday i was for Yar'adua, today i doubt that ticket.
Hope Atiku picks up the AC ticket and invities Duke, they will get my support. Nigerian youths should end this charade please!

PoliticsRe: President Of Nigeria In 2007: Who? <Poll> by Danmasani(m): 2:36pm On Nov 29, 2006
Seriously, Dr Emeka Anyaoku should declare for the Presidency. Igbos have been crying for the presidency and i think he is the biggest and serious shot the have. I am from the North and will vouch for Emeka Anyaoku anyday than any of the other people parading themselves as potential presidents. He should be pressured to join the race and be supported.
Think of his experiences at the Commonwealth and the International community and his status as an elderly stateman and u have full credentials of a positive aspirant
PoliticsRe: Joshua Dariye Of Plateau State Impeached by Danmasani(m): 6:01am On Nov 14, 2006
I am a Jos boy and my day has just been made brighter by this news. At long last, plateau people have won the battle against this bastard. Dariye is a stark example of what is wrong with Nigeria: Corruption and Politicians with no common sense. How could a governor escape from London Police, proved beyond doubt to have stolen from his state's lean purse and still hold sway? Our Legislative house stood by a criminal and the people simply watched!
Its a great day for Plateau state, her citizens have long waited for this. EFCC should look for Dariye and catch him, all those months of unpaid salaries must be accounted for. Nobody is anyone's dog!
PoliticsRe: Would You Vote For IBB (Babangida) In 2007? by Danmasani(m): 5:05am On Nov 13, 2006
IBB has nothing to offer Nigeria. He was the main architect in bringing down Nigeria and should be ashamed of himself. It smacks us as sensible people to see an individual of his type pulling the big ropes of Nigerian Politics. It also shows us that Nigeria has a long way to go if people advocate IBB for 2007. 7 years of intense looting and maladministration by this punk should be enough for him to hide his face in shame.
Nigeria must really be a stupid nation if Babangida is elected!

@ Odeku, I'm a northerner and do not support stupid leaders like IBB who have nothing to offer. So are millions of other northerners out there. I've been reading your post, i'll advise you to have deep understanding of things before you open your mouth!

PoliticsRe: Illegality And Abuse Of 1999 Constitution In Ekiti State. by Danmasani(m): 4:49am On Oct 19, 2006
Odeku:
SO let me ask you dude, did the EFCC ask or put a gun to this governors head to steal? or involve himself in murder? people really need to start thinking before you comment. its statements like that that give people like IBB the courage to want to come back to rule Nigeria. Why is this innocent governor in hidding?
Odeku, see it is people like you that dont read post first, dont think and just jump into conclusions anyhow. Where in my post did you see me saying that Fayose is innocent or that corruption is good? All I said was that due process must be followed. It is all the rush-rush business that has landed Ekiti now in a mess with three people claiming to be Governors. If only EFCC and/or the legislators had given time for the whole Chief Justice situation to get resolved before proceeding against impeachment, things would've been clearer. No one is supporting Fayose here, not saying he shouldn't be persecuted. But let there be a benchmark, the constitution must be obeyed. If we keep breaching it to achieve certain aims, no matter how important or popular they may be will only make our laws nonsense and the guidelines useless!.
I think everything has crumbled already and a State of Emergency must be imposed if the Federal Governemnt can't bring order back to that state
PoliticsRe: Illegality And Abuse Of 1999 Constitution In Ekiti State. by Danmasani(m): 1:23am On Oct 19, 2006
jas_o:
Danmansani you got it willfully wrong. the efcc does not meant for what you inscribed it. is a tool meant for tackling selfish citizen like ibb and co. for you saying the body has caused chaos in ekiti i disagree with you if the ekiti parliament does not know what and how to re-instal there constituency is left for them and i suggest Mr incumbent crook should apply a drastic measure so as to allow the acting Governor and and CJ which was appointed by the ekiti house of rep performed there duty.
I am not against the function or creation of the EFCC. I think it is one of the greatest things ever to happen to Nigeria. However, when it is been hijacked to intimidate opponents and settle scores, then it becomes a problem. EFCC has closed on both sides- those OBJ loves and hates, no doubt. But it has closed more on his opponents. It is all just a smokescreen. How about Mantu? Why hasn't he been impeached in the face of various allegations against him from Dariye, El-Rufai, Atiku and so many others. How about Olabode George,Tony Anenih and all other sycophants known to have looted and still are looting from Nigeria's lean purse.
Secondly, let it be clear that i am not in favor of Fayose or any other culprit, infact i hope the LEGALLY impeach Dariye at the end even if he has a day left in office, but let the contituition dictate the clear means to carry out impeachments and it must not be violated.Bayelsa and Oyo did theirs and followed due process, why use clear intimidation and circumvent laws becuase you want your opponent out by all means.

Actions like this do not affect the politicians involved alone, it affects the fabric of the Nigerian society and the sooner we call Ekiti state to order, the better for us!
PoliticsRe: Illegality And Abuse Of 1999 Constitution In Ekiti State. by Danmasani(m): 4:42pm On Oct 18, 2006
I think it is high time we realised that what has happened in Ekiti state is a charade. First, there are presently three people claiming to be governors, two Attorney-General's and people from all sides for and against the impeachment with some saying that the constitution has been breached and others saying it is in good faith.
I guess the federal governement, that is Olusegun Obasanjo using his powers of intimidation via EFCC has landed Ekiti state in a pot of hot soup. Soon, bullets will start flying in that place if something is not done. I think a State of Emergency will be needed if this whole imbroglio is not solved, may God help us!
