It's unbelievable that some people still want Madam Etteh AKa "the more you see, the less you understand" as Speaker. How vile can Nigeria be? Someone designated/allocated/appropriated/scammed/inflated/proportionate (whatever word you chose to call it) a whopping sum of 696NGN for the replacement of light bulb, light switch and 10 SUV's and still sits tight surrounded by a bunch of buffons and baboons, beating the drumbeats of no surrender until due process is followed. Some even said that the whole fallout was because lucrative legislative role's were not doled out to the agitators. Madam Etteh lacks the moral impetus, the political will nor the educational capability to lead the House of Reps. She should therefore resign. The shock of spending such a colossal sum on frivolities and grandeur things in a nation sieged by intense poverty and maladministration calls for her immediate sack and persecution. Several bigots, thugs and gangsters have come out to canvass support for her based on her ethnicity. Let it be known that this is the House of Reps of Nigeria. Madam speaker does not represent the Yoruba race, she represents Nigeria. Thus, the more she stays put with a face tainted violently with graft and incompetence, the more we are dragged as a nation to the mud! Resign now Madam Speaker, head the committee on regulation of cosmetics and beautification if there is any in the House. If not, seek for one. That way, you and whoever put you there will find some form of happiness. |
Don Etiebet was initially a member of ANPP, then PDP, then he went to ANPP where he rose to its national Chairman and headed the party in the flawed 2003 elections and finally back in PDP where he is now a very active member .Same will become of Atiku Abubakar, Formerly with the PDP to AC and will come back to the PDP in 2011. Nigerian papers will praise him and call him 'a great leader', a 'promoter of peace, understanding' and a 'great politician'- he will be portrayed as the best thing ever to happen to Nigeria. Ojo Madueke and Jerry Gana will rise to the ocassion and welcome him. Ahmadu Ali will grin with smiles and remind u that PDP is indeed the "greatest party in africa" Methinks that Nigerians are yet to learn their lesson. If people like IBB, Ikimi, Anenih, Adedibu et al continue to hold sway in our polity today, then we'll continue to remain bastards that will be ridden upon any time we are called to election= to 'cast' stolen votes! |
Checking the Gizmodo page on the Mubarak helicopter reveiled one thing- We are known for Fraud- 419ners,scammers, yahoo-yahoo and internet money heisting, ![]() I bet you that most of those who critisize this guy are among the many involved in this mugu business. what I dont understand is that how can someone in the face of such uproar sit tight in her seat. Haba Wole Soyinka, Gani, Falana, Oshiomole and many other distinguised Nigerians have called for her resignation and yet she stays there like statue. How NLC has said they will "overrun" the House-whatever that means! We are watching! |
Rivers state got billions of naira allocated to it each month but has got absolutely nothing to show for it. Only thugs all around the place and kidnappers calling themselves freedom fighters. Perhaps the recent all out war with the Nigerian army has not taught these criminals lesson 101 on good behaviour and proper conduct. If Jumbo or whatever him name be like, make him go hang! Nigeria should not get him released in Angola. Let them jail him for life if he deserves it. Threatening the lives of other innocent people for your selfish needs is grossly wrong. Ken Saro-wiwa, the true Niger-Delta hero never threatened anyone, rather it is Jumbo jet that will start shouting nonsense after making millions from hostage-taking, millions which he has not used to improve the fortunes of his people. I say it again, make this guys bomb and kill Naija people as dem threaten, na that moment e go dawn on some people say madmen dey our nation! |
If MEND blows up the third mainland, then they will graduate from freedom fighters to full-blown terrorist organization recognized by Nigeria, US,United Nations and every nation out there. If u think that killing innocent people who have nothing to do with the corruption and mismanagement among your governments in the Niger-Delta coupled with the neglect by the Nigerian govt and the Oil companies is going to solve your problem and bring u sympathy, then go ahead! Alams stole millions of dollars and walks like a warrior. No one has made moves to bomb his house! Ibori has millions and a jet stashed in England and Odili is busy stopping EFCC from investigating him , yet MEND comes out to say that they will export violence! Go ahead! I challenge them to go ahead with their plans, lets see who will come bashed left, right and center at the end of the day! ![]() |
ogalanya:Before this thread takes a new dimension, Muhammad Maigari even if quoted right does not speak for Katsina, Northern Nigeria or her people. Etteh disgrace is not a Yoruba affair but a Nigerian Problem. |

I think it is high time we let go of Obasanjo! |
adconline:How about the dropping of the first and only atomic bomb in this world in Japan!! I don't hear anyone trying to classify it as genocide or mass killing. Rather all i see is that "Japan surrendered after the Hiroshima bombing". Seems like language and words vary for same atrocities abi?? |
Court Stops Investigation of Ibori From Omon-Julius Onabu in Warri, 10.11.2007 http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=91968 Twenty-four hours after President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua announced that he had authorised a visit to Nigeria by the London Metropolitan Police conducting a criminal investigation of Chief James Ibori, the Delta State government has secured a court injunction to halt the process. A Federal High Court in Benin City, Edo State, yesterday issued an order of interim injunction, which restrains the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from carrying out certain actions against some serving and erstwhile office holders in Delta State, including former governor, Ibori. It is not yet clear what effect this would have on the Met Police investigation since the EFCC has conducted one earlier. The order, signed by the Presiding Judge, Justice G.C. Okeke, was in response to an ex-parte application by the Attorney-General of Delta State, the Delta State Government, Secretary to the Delta State Government and the Auditor-General of Delta State asking for an injunction restraining the EFCC, its Chief Executive and/or the Attorney-General of the Federation (the defendants) from carrying certain actions being contemplated against the applicants. In the order, the court, which also fixed October 30, 2007 as the date for the hearing of the “Motion on Notice”, equally restrained the defendants’ agents or privies from acting in any manner against the plaintiffs in regard of the concerned prayers upon which the order was issued. The applicants had prayed the court for: “An Order of Interim Injunction restraining the Defendants, their agents, servants, privies or any person(s) acting for or through them from taking any step whatsoever to compel the Plaintiffs/Applicants including current or erstwhile holders of offices in the Delta State Government to produce ort submit the document(s) of information requested by the 1st Defendant (EFCC) from the 1st Plaintiff/Applicant through its letter of 6/06/07 with Reference to CR: 3000/EF-CC/ABJ/ASO/TM.3/Vol.2/321 entitled “Investigation Activi-ties; Request for Information “ pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice.” The Applicants also sought an interim order restraining the Defendants and others “from arresting or detaining any current or erstwhile functionary of the Delta State Government from May 1999 to June 2007 including but not limited to: (a) Chief James Ibori (b) Chief Benjamin Elue (c) Mr. Ede Oghoro (d) Mr. Charles Israye, in consequence of the alleged investigation touching on the accounts, contracts, etc.” The Court noted that it issued the Order consequent upon the “Affidavit in Support and the Affidavit of Urgency” deposed to Delta State Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Asaba, Delta State. The order of Interim Injunction was consequently granted in accordance with the aforementioned terms of prayers contained in the plaintiffs application, including retraining the Defendants from “taking any step to freeze any of the accounts of the 2nd Plaintiff or any of its offices, Ministries or agencies maintained in any bank in Nigeria” in consequence of the said EFCC’s letter. Officers of the Met Police are expected in the country any moment from now. Meanwhile, Lagos-based lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana, has said the assurance on Ibori by Yar’Adua was not enough. He noted that in a bid to assure Nigerians and the international community that the president “will no longer shield ex-governors from investigation and prosecution he has directed the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Chief Michael Aandokaa (SAN) to co-operate with the visiting Metropolitan Police officials. In view of the controversy which the letters exchanged between the Attorney-General and Chief Ibori’s lawyers in London has generated it is pertinent to draw the attention of the Federal Government to the following provisions of the relevant enactments: • By virtue of Section 6(k) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Act EFCC 2004 the Commission is responsible for ‘dealing with matters connected with extradition, deportation and mutual legal or other assistance between Nigeria and any other country involving economic and financial crimes.’ • Pursuant to Article 3 of the Agreement between the Governments of Nigeria and United Kingdom Concerning the Investigation and Prosecution of Crime and the Confiscation of the Proceeds of Crime the Attorney General of the Federation is required to make a request for the freezing or confiscation of proceeds of crime belonging to Nigerians which may be located in the United Kingdom. • Article 46 of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (which has been signed and ratified by Nigeria) imposes an obligation on the Federal Government to engage in international co-operation through mutual legal assistance in gathering and transferring evidence for use in court in foreign countries. “In the light of the foregoing the Yar’Adua regime is required to take the following steps: •The Federal Government should co-operate fully with the British Government in the investigation of the £35 million assets of Chief Ibori suspected to be proceeds of crime. •The Attorney-General should be directed to make a formal request for the freezing of Chief Ibori’s assets valued at £35 million. If this is not done Chief Ibori’s lawyers may produce in the Criminal Appeal Court in London the Attorney-General’s letter dated 7th August 2007 wherein he stated that he had not requested for the freezing of the said assets! “(iii.) The Metropolitan Police officials should be granted unimpeded access to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in the investigation of the case. “Unless the aforesaid measures are adopted by the Federal Government forthwith the order freezing Chief Ibori’s assets may be vacated once again without any explanation as to how they were acquired.” The president had been widely accused of being privy to the attempts by the Attorney-General to frustrate the efforts of the EFCC in prosecuting some top politicians over allegations of corruption under the pretext of “rule of law”. But in a statement issued by Special Adviser to the President on Communications, Mr. Olusegun Adeniyi, on Tuesday, President Yar’Adua assured he would never be deterred from the “sincere and total prosecution” of the war against corruption by the status of accused persons or whatever claims they may imagine they have on his goodwill. I think the whole "rule of law" and "due process" mantra is going to kill Nigeria. It is high time injunctions that are issued left, right and center are stopped and Justice allowed to take its course! |
nwando:Obadele Thompson is not Nigerian. He's from Barbados. I wonder where u get your info from? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obadele_Thompson |

LOLVery funny, shows u how far we have come in Nigeria! |
Seun:True! i wonder how the came up with those figures- With a population of 140million, how can 22 million or 15.7% be blind. Thats a bogus claim i think! |
Topsido:useless remark! |
Of course Davidylan will not agree with common sense. Anything to the extreme is what he considers best. The drumbeats of aggression and war always come from mouths like his. Compromise or understanding are dull language to him! |
Ive been following the Ahmadinejad visit to Columbia and the aftermath all day. I think that free speech and engaging your enemy is a good step in crisis management. I think that a lot of issues have risen from this controversy. Both sides, that is America and her government and Ahmadinejad and Iran have pitfalls and setbacks in the way they engage each other. No doubt, the Iranian President- a master propagandist seized the opportunity at Columbia to pour out his vitriolic rhetoric but i also commend the University President for his words against this guy. It is an exercise of free speech. However some points the Iranian leader raised are true. Yes the holocaust did happen and Yes it was one of the main issues for the formation of the Israeli state but the holocaust or the need for an Israeli state should not be used to suppress the Palestinian people or object to the formation of a Palestinian state- I think that Israel, with her technological and military might has taken a strong posture on the Palestinians, even to the extent of sometimes infringing of the basic human rights of this people. Similarly, the Palestinians must not be left out of the blame as their constant suport for terror organization like Hamas does no good to their demand for a sovereign state. I think common ground must be found by all the actors in this drama, the Palestinians and Israel on one hand and the Iranians and Americans on the other. Like Barack Obama said, Engaging Iran and her President eye to eye would achieve a lot, bringing understanding and perhaps easing tensions between this two nations. George Bush doesn't seem to understand this despite his failure in Iraq. North Korea is a clear example of diplomacy at work, enabling your enemy to voice his opinions and engaging him constructively to me is a moderate view and the right step in having peace! |
what do u expect from a President so dull that Africa to him is a country rather than a continent! |
