Its really a sad day for all Chelsea fans but we will move on. Hopefully no one is going anywhere. He'll sort ourselves, get a new coach and rise to greater glory! |
what else did you expect from an uncouth mouth who rather than respect his age and indulged in good deeds has opted to violence, thuggery, intimidation and all bad things associated with mankind? To tell u the truth, this Adedibu guy amazes me, how can one man hold the whole Oyo state to ransom like this and goes unchallenged? where are all those people who say they are educated, 'illustrious sons' of Ibadan? why can't someone rise up and stand against this guy? Shame! |
chei Nigerians, where una get those docs from ![]() Abi na una dey send me email all the time say Abacha money need to be cleared if i deposit some 'processing fee' ![]() |
I was talking with an IBD boy yesterday and he said that He is worried that Madam Etteh or "Mrs Embezzelement" resignation or impeachment will be a dent for the South west in the national assembly. I disagreed with him immediately. Nigerians, Madam speaker needs to go together with her deputy and any other public, private or semi-private official that was involved in this scam. You can in no mean justify the incredulous sum of NGN595million for renovation and purchase of cars for the officials of the House of Reps. What has Mrs Etteh done for her constituency so far as a member of the national assembly? I'm sure the answer is as obvious as the her guilt in the scam at the moment. Madam Etteh needs to go. I believe that she is guilty already. No broom in this world can sweep this one under the carpet. Vendetta or not, other members must rise up and impeach this woman and her deputy please, Nigerians are not stupid! |
EFCC did not apologize to anyone. It does not need to either in my view in this case! No apology to AGF, says EFCC By Simon Ekpe, Abuja Published: Thursday, 13 Sep 2007 The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Wednesday said it had not apologised to the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Mike Aondoakaa, or any other Nigerian over the ongoing trial of a former governor of Abia State, Chief Orji Kalu. The anti-graft commission made the clarification against the backdrop of a claim by the AGF that the EFCC had apologised to him. The AGF had on September 6, 2007 demanded an apology from the Chairman of the EFCC, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, over the ‘rudeness of the commissions counsel, Mr. Adebisi Adeniyi, to the nations Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr. Salihu Aliyu. Adeniyi and the DPP had on September 5 openly disagreed in a Federal High Court in Abuja over attempts by the office of the AGF to take over the trial of Kalu from the EFCC. Kalu is standing trial for a 107 count charge of alleged mismanagement of N1bn. But the EFCC, in a statement by its Head of Media and Publicity, Mr. Osita Nwajah, said it would never ‘apologise for carrying out its duties. The commissions statement reads, The attention of the commission has been drawn to news reports that it tendered an apology to the Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr. Mike Aondoakaa, regarding the ongoing trial of former Abia State Governor, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu, currently facing criminal charges of money laundering to the tune of about N1bn, property of Abia State Government. The commission deeply regrets that its statutory anti-corruption and anti-money laundering mandate is being dragged into a murky political terrain by those who apparently seek to provoke it into a challenge with executive power. For the avoidance of doubt, the commission will never put itself in a position to do battle with those whose mission is to aggravate and stampede it to actions that are inconsistent with its mandate. The commission never obtained a request, could therefore not, as indeed would never so, apologise for prosecuting criminal charges, which are properly defined within its statutory responsibilities. Keen observers of developments affecting the commission will recall that this type of provocation is not new and will probably not end soon. To be sure, however, no formal records in the commission today suggest that an apology emerged from it to any person. The commission wishes to reiterate that its investigations and prosecutions of public officers are properly in sync with statutory demands to improve the integrity quotient in public service. And while this may not sit well with subjects under the commissions scrutiny, they will be well served to appreciate that there are no personal scores involved.” http://punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art200709131465545 |
@ buruntashi, bros na funny name u get ooooo ![]() |
Obasanjo Babangida Anenih Abacha Lamidi Adedibu ![]() |
@azorjiu True talk. its utterly disgusting that the Ijaws trooped out to welcome a convicted criminal who confessed to robbing them. It is a big shame! Im still not believing that this Alams guy could get such a reception despite all the "unhonorable" things he has done. |
This is one of the most disgraceful acts i have ever witnessed. That a thief who plead guilty to multiple counts of embezzlement and corruption will receive a hero's welcome from the same people who he robbed! NO disrespect, but have people in Ijaw land gone nuts? Read all the fanfare that greeted this thief and you will see that THERE IS SOMETHING INHERENTLY WRONG IN NIGERIA AND WITHIN NIGERIANS. How can someone who brazenly stole millions from his people still be addressed as a kingmaker and hero among them. Are people blind? are they stupid? What explanation can you give to this? Childcris said Anenih, Obasanjo among others are honored ( which they dont deserve), but at least these guys are not convicted criminals. Alams is an ex-convict who stole from his own people. Period. For his same people to troop out and give him a hero's welcome is the most disgraceful stunt ever pulled by a huger Nigerian public. Shame! |
McKren:Such defense against criminal activities is laughable. So everyone who has been experiencing hardship due to successive poor governments and intense poverty in Nigeria should resort to criminal activities? My friend, millions of people undergo untold hardship on a daily basis and still do not go for a "quick fix" to make it at all cost. It's the same bane with 419. Blaming the failure of the Nigerian state on such activities is honestly uncalled for! |
Maleeq:Wow, so the North does not use Naira or what? Some people churn words out of dem ass for this place! ![]() |
Are we not reading things out of context here. "Naira Re-Domination has been Suspended". Reason-"Due Process was not adhere to". Solution- Follow the Due Process and authorize such actions within the context of the law and constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It is that simple. We don't have to blow hot and cold, start name calling, castigating the government or any other action based on pessimism so far exhibited here and other fora. The Government of the day follows "Due Process". It is in the constitution and the right thing to do. Let them do the job they were elected to do plz! |
In the Nigerian House of Assembly of the 4th Republic , it is business as usual again! Wabara, Mantu, Zwingina,Okadigbo and tons of others have walked this shameful path. Madam Etteh must not shame the women folk please |
@ pic, LOL. Nigeria is in trouble! |
PTH:No wonder i don dey fight extremist all day PTH = Davidylan! I see |
BABEELOVE:Bros what exactly are u trying to tell us?? I dont get it!1 ![]() |
PTH:Nigeria is a member of the OIC because Gen Ibrahim Babangida inducted her into it. No one is also stopping her from joining any xtian organization anywhere. It will ultimately not bring food to every Nigerian's table so i dont see why it should give anyone sleepless nights. Besides, Obasanjo once attended an OIC meeting! Thats for a start!, why didnt you chop his head for that since he is your hero! |
romeo:See how stupid someone can be ? So because she is called Aisha automatically makes her a muslim, ![]() Romeo or whatever u call yourself? are u intelligent at all or is it outright madness? which one for you? Do you know that most people from Southern Kaduna for example where i hail from bear arabic names like Bello, Haruna, Aisha, Zubairu and are full blown xtians. Consider this- Senator Haruna Zego Aziz or Mr Hassan Hyet, so they should be muslims ehn? Same goes for most parts of the north where xtians bear arabic name. I for one also! See this is what i have been saying here. Alot of ignorant people are saying things they don't know. someone said women were whipped on Okada in Northern Nigeria?/ , where specifically did this happen? I'm going to need truly concrete answers or is ti just your obscure imagination. perhaps Seun should begin to ask for evidence-then we will see as some people will stay mute.Do you know that riots in Kaduna, Kano, Jos also involved the murder of innocent muslims and destruction of mosques and Islamic centres of worship. I say because I witnessed it myself. So all those saying Islam this, Islam that have got to look into their own hearts. I pray moderates continue to hold on to what Nigeria is- a place where tolerance is at peak. For Babyiosi, PTH, Romeo and other bigots here in the house, pray, you learn to write with your senses than with your ass! |
The idea at the first place is said to have been unconstitutional so there is no fault in it. Similarly, these same 'deductions' will undergo 'further deductions' by corrupt officials before a single block in placed for that clinic. It is better if the Federal Govt herself gives a contract directly to a private firm to do it! |
It’s Only a White Lie, Isn’t It? By Paul Ohia in Lagos and Jaiyeola Andrews in Abeokuta, 08.07.2007 http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=85555 Rotimi Adebari made history recently when he was elected the Mayor of Portlaoise in the County Laois, Republic of Ireland. He is the first black man, the first non-Irish to be so honoured. But his claim of having fled Nigeria as a result of religious persecution has turned out to be an event not known to history, both oral and written. Adebari, a Christian, had claimed, on his arrival in Ireland in 2000, that he fled Nigeria because of religious persecution in his village, Oke-Odan in Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State. THISDAY checks have revealed that no harassment of Christians took place in Oke-odan in Yewa in 2000, the time of his departure. There was no fighting between Muslims and Christians as he claimed. Indeed, the town is predominantly Christian, with a handful of devotees of traditional African religion. But there was an event that took place in Oke-Odan that same year: a devastating flood that rendered residents of the area homeless such that they had to seek shelter in adjoining villages.Foreign news agencies also gave Adebari the tag of a “popular Nigerian”, but the 43-year-old man was relatively unknown before his mayoral election. The sleepy town of Oke-Odan initially received the news that one of their sons was made a Mayor in the Republic of Ireland with indifference, but now, many villagers identify with his achievement. Indigenes of the town who spoke to THISDAY on the condition of anonymity (“We don’t want to be seen as bringing him down”, a villager said), revealed that Adebari travelled out of Nigeria in 2000 in search of “green pasture”. They said he might have sought "fake asylum” in Ireland using religious persecution as a channel to achieve his aim. A chief, who also pleaded anonymity, said he could not recollect any religious persecution at that point in time, "except he (Adebari) is claiming persecution from traditional religionists, which is not to the knowledge of anybody in Oke-Odan, not to the knowledge of the traditional ruling council". Adebari's story, as narrated by different media in Ireland, goes that he travelled to Ireland with his wife and two boys in 2000, and claimed asylum on the basis of religious persecution, citing bloody clashes between Christians and Muslims in his homeland. His application was rejected because of insufficient evidence to show that he had personally suffered persecution, but he gained residency because his third child, another boy, was born while he was still in Ireland. By then, asylum-seekers flocked to Ireland in part to gain European Union citizenship on the basis of having a child born in the country. Ireland in 2004 stopped granting citizenship to foreign parents of an Irish-born child, a law that had been unique in Europe. Adebari said he had trouble finding work at first - in part because of an Irish law that bars people from working while they were seeking asylum. He volunteered at a local tennis club, helped found a lobbying group for unemployed people in Portlaoise and ran for office, winning a council seat on his first try in 2004. Back in Adebari's hometown, THISDAY discovered that some groups in Oke-Odan, are already making moves to persuade Adebari to come home and contest the 2011 Governorship election in the State as a result of his new status as a Mayor in Ireland These groups, according to findings, are hinging their campaign for Adebari on the fact that the West senatorial district has not produced the governor of the state since its creation, as well as the belief that Adebari's experience in Ireland as a Mayor would come handy in making that dream of producing the governor a reality. Controversy Adebari’s election, even though widely celebrated in the media, has generated controversy in Ireland. Many are questioning the right of a “foreigner” to be made a Mayor. His predecessor, Kathleen O’ Brien, recently expressed disappointment about the verbal attack by a Portlaoise resident on Adebari. “This man is in a minority, Rotimi is a gentleman, he will be an asset to the people in Portlaoise. I am opposed to what was said,” O’Brien said. Tom Duffy, a self-employed labourer from Belfast, now living in Portlaoise, made racist attacks against the Nigerian. He said on Midlands Radio 3 that non-Irish people should not hold such positions. In a discussion on the deportation of non-nationals from Ireland, Mr. Duffy proclaimed, “I am a racist, my views represent about 50% of people”. In an interview with the Laois Nationalist, he said Adebari should not hold a position in the town council due to his nationality. “He is not Irish, he should not be in the council,” said Mr. Duffy. “Irish blocklayers can’t get jobs because of them working for nothing. “These foreign immigrants driving around in cars, getting cars from the Government, while single Irish mothers don’t get the same is wrong. If I thought I’d get enough votes, I’d represent the Irish people. I’d look after our own,” he said. “A new party is needed instead of Sinn Féin. I was a Sinn Fein supporter before Brian Stanley supported Rotimi.” But Stanley said, “Rotimi Adebari was elected into the town council. I do not support racist attitudes. We already have organisations close to the National Front in this country, the UFF and the UVF. I work with Rotimi the same as the eight other councillors, he has the same right to be there as anyone else. Those who feel he shouldn’t be there should have put their name in the ballot box the first time round.” Activist Adebari had said, on his election, that Ireland is a model to the world on diversity and integration. He said that other countries can learn so much from the welcoming Irish approach to diversity. The mayor criticised a letting agency which published an 'Irish people only' ad on a property website, saying it was a clear example of discrimination. “We all remember in the 1950-60s when there were signs in England saying, 'No Irish need apply'. It is very disappointing and I expect them to put it down," he said. The letting agency which placed the ad on the Daft.ie website said it had occurred due to an error by a recently appointed member of staff. The Mayor has become the pride of the minority black people in the country. But just don’t mention how he got there in the first place. I am happy for this man. But can you see how some people they moment they get out can do absolutely anything to tarnish this country's image. People who faced religious riots in Kaduna or Kano might not have even presented that argument to get assylum but here comes this "Distinguished Mayor" who i bet has never faced a riot in the yeye. Hope this serves as a classic example of how some of us will sell our nation to be accepted by others--Highly unfortunate! |
@ Topic I read with dismay too when I saw the reports in the Nigerian dailies this morning. Well Nuhu Ribadu's influence is definetly being curtailed with him now having to report to the AGF before arresting or persecuting anybody. But I am of the view that we should not immediately see this new development as an indication to curtail the EFCC activities. They said they are obeying a section of the constiuition--Lets agree with them for now and see if the EFCC will keep the tempo of persecution of corrupt public officers or if it's activities will dwindle and fade out. Lets give the action the Federal govt just implemented a benefit of doubt before outrightly disproving it |
I-man:@ I-man. What evidence do u have of women being stopped from wearing their trousers or skirts in Kano or Zamfara. Like Aisha said, most of you here know nothing about the North, read sensational stories of isolated events in the papers and make your entire biased conclusions of the North from Kwara to Sokoto state. If not, how naive can someone like PTH or Babyosi be when claiming that Sharia is the cause of the recent discrimination women face ( if it is true at all) in Benue state. Benue state i can even attest to be one of the most liberal thinking states in the federation. Ive tons of friends from the there and like most people of North central states tend to be very easy-going. Trouser wearing or indecency doesn't give us sleepless nights one bit. Go to University of Jos, Bayero University Kano or Ahmadu Bello Zaria and see for yourselves, Trousers are not an issue at all. People were them left and right, unhampered and undiscriminated. For your question- Do women wear trousers in Zamfara state? Yes, My aunty has lived there for 15 years and can wear anything she wants. It is a free society. Even school children, boys and girls wear trousers to school just so you know. So keep your bleak view of the place if you know nothing about it! Sick of people trying to think they are better off! |
Culled From the Daily Independent Newspapers David Oyedepo: A Controversial Stance The decision of the authorities of Covenant University not to graduate students who test positive to either the Human Immuno-deficiency Virus (HIV) or pregnancy has placed the institution on the front burner of public discourse. Experts say the university had by some past deeds, like baring students of opposite sex from holding hands and consummating friendship on campus, positioned itself as a citadel of morality. But the school’s latest act of baring students who have paid through the nose to complete years of rigorous academic exercise from graduating has enraged many local and international observers. While concerned citizens continue to talk about the controversial decision, the university’s Chancellor, Bishop David Olaniyi Oyedepo, who is also the general overseer of Living Faith Ministries (Winners’ Chapel), has remained silent, just as affected parents and students are reluctant to come out publicly to speak on the issue. But Mr. Chris Okemgbo, a public affairs commentator, believes the decision of the school on HIV and pregnant students is an unjust stigmatisation of those under such conditions. "I have not heard where pregnancy has become an unpardonable sin," Okemgbo fumed. Many think that the decision to cancel the graduation of pregnant students will encourage abortion. Kingsley Obom-Egbulem, head of research and publications, Journalists Against Aids (JAIDS), believes that HIV test must be voluntary, adding that consensual test is usually preceded by counseling. He calls the verdict of Covenant University on HIV and pregnant students a "draconian" measure. "They are so many, so how do you counsel all of them? That is why we say it is an aberration. We feel it is wrong, we feel it is absurd and draconian to say that a child whose parents have suffered to train for four years should not graduate because he or she is HIV positive," Obom-Egbulem laments. Lagos State coordinator, Treatment Action Movement (TAM), Mr. Mayowa Joel, described the decision as imputing that an HIV positive or pregnant student is less than a total graduate. "Now the question is what does being HIV positive take away from you? Does it take away your ability to read? Does it take away your ability to listen, lead and live normal life?" he queried. According to him, testing positive to HIV does not take away ability to be a good Christian. "As a treatment advocate working with people living with HIV, I can tell you categorically that if HIV takes anything away, it takes away the negative aspect because as somebody taking antiretroviral drugs, you have to stop taking alcohol, you have to make sure you don’t engage in indiscriminate sexual intercourse and you have to make sure that you are sensitive and you don’t infect others. In fact, living with HIV promotes behavioural change," Joel said. He added that those living with HIV are highly disciplined. "They know the import of time because they have to take their antiretroviral drugs at regular intervals. Raising a total eagle means putting into consideration people living with HIV/AIDS." Executive director, Centre for Rights and Development, Mrs. Josephine Odikpo, described the action of Covenant University as an encroachment on the fundamental rights of those affected in the quest to raise what the university terms "total eagles". National coordinator, Positive Action for Treatment Access (PATA), Mrs. Rolake Odetoyinbo, believes that ignorance probably fueled the university’s decision. The human rights groups on Monday gave Oyedepo a 14-day ultimatum to reverse the decision or face the wrath of the coalition of human rights organisations. The coalition plans to organise Nigerians to embark on a protest march to Canaan land, seat of the university, should the institution’s authorities fail to reverse the decision by the expiration of the ultimatum. "We will employ everything within our power to make sure that things are put right," Odetoyinbo said, adding, "I feel bad about it because I am a person living with HIV and I have friends who had children 15 to 20 years ago who did not have access to antiretroviral drugs; we have children who are born with HIV. These children are still alive. These are children who are still in the primary and secondary schools. Are you saying that our children should not go to school because they are unfortunate to be HIV positive?" Pundits are of the view that the National Universities Commission (NUC) must step in to prevent Covenant University from treading the path of lawlessness. http://www.independentngonline.com/?c=97&a=31903 I guess the "Shariazation" and the "Islamization" of Nigeria has also reached Covenant University as some people say here! |
Those days disappeared the very day northern Nigerian retards masquerading in military uniform decided to ruin our federal system of government. Well before dear Yakubu Gowon split us into 12 states and unified government, the west could care less about oil drilled in Bayelsa Interesting, It is for a fact that the creation of additional states was a desire for every region of Nigeria at the time. So is it today. Almost every tribe in every Nigerian state wants a state of its own -because Gowon said so according to you! NO. Aboslute zilch! Bauchi and kogi states ARE NOT oil producing states. NNPC on the basis of the nauseating federal character policy has sunk billions of naira on prospecting for oil in Bauchi WITHOUT SUCCESS. Ogun and Ondo states have PROVEN oil and bitumen reserves. So when will u start extraction of the oil in Ogun and Ondo states. You know that might help us with the current situation in the Niger-Delta or is the Federal Government stupid not to have started that already a long time ago. State the obvious facts here--it is not in commercial quantities! When did the nonsense about "6 geopolitical zones" start? Was it part of our national lexicon in 1993? The clamour for zoning of political office only became important when we all realised we were being taken for a ride by a bunch of illiterates who contribute NOTHING to the federal purse and yet claim that the presidency is their birthright. Abdulsalam Abubakar introduced zoning in 1999 in order to placate the south! Question?? Has the distribution of Political positions and the hierachy of power in Nigeria not follwed the existing geo-political zones? Do u need me to prove to you that the President, VP, Senate Pres, Senate VP, House speaker and the PDP chairman are 'zoned' to this geo-political arrangements? Why haven't you rejected it if it is meant to placate the south. You call us illiterates-- What manner of irony is it that the first educated Nigerian President came from the North with a Masters for that matter. Obasanjo with all his "literacy" has taken Nigeria further backwards and u don't see that! Last i checked, all u've contributed to this thread is an exhibition of verbal diarrhoea. Keep it up. Where is the "logical reasoning" in ever post of urs? i wont also hesitate to point out your numerous gaffes each time you post. I notice you had nothing to say about polio and the north? Illiteracy and the north? Last i checked i did not introduce the concept of "educationally less advantaged states". Perhaps that is also a stupid policy introduced by those who would rather herd cattle than go to school. Presently an on-going investigation is happening about Trovan, a drug against meningitis given to kids in Kano who later died arising from complications due to it. The Kano and Nigerian government are both suing Pfizer for that. So tell me something? Will it be wrong if Bola Tinubu suspends Polio vaccination for his people had he suspected that complications might arise from them? Will he let them accept the vaccine and face the possibilty of future severe repercussions( an ex which is Trovan) or will he have hesistated and required testing for toxicity and severe side effects on humans? I'll leave that for your "rational side" to answer!

For your information, the Fulanis herd cattle and the span the entire sub-region of West Africa and trust me, they go to school. Your Harvard MBA holder and Minister, Nasir El- Rufai is one! |
babyosisi:Babayosi, I am on the same page with you here. But how come Sharia or Islam never crept in when Lagos is doing the same? Or is it because Benue is in the North and that will automatically become the rationale for it. That is my concern! babyosisi:Who has been beaten into submission? The xtians in Kaduna, Kano, Jos, Benue states? Who is beating who? Do u know that almost every lady in University of Jos wears her jeans freely withouth intimidation. I schooled in ABU Zaria and can say that ladies wore their jeans freely even outside the school till date? who is beating who to submission. What u read in the exaggerated papers of Nigeria does not equate to what is on ground please! |
Quotes from PTH Welcome to the Islamic Republic of Nigeria. Time to get my family out before hijab becomes the national dress code for females. Sharia Republic of Nigeria = Northern Nigeria, sand, camels and poor excuses for men you forgot to include illiteracy, poverty and disease But still went to contradict himself this is not even about sharia. How Stupid can one be?? ![]() |
Someone is bringing Bitumen and Gold into this thread. When was the last time Nigeria exported gold or depended on it? If so , how about the Tin and Columbite in Jos or the Cottons in Zaria and Kaduna or the Groundnut pyramids of Kano? Those days are gone. Why, because the entire Nigerian state forgot about all her potentials the moment the first barrel of Oil was extracted in Olibiri (1957). You say Lagos, Ekiti, Ondo are Oil-producing state- Hahaha. Do you know that even Bauchi and Kogi states have oil deposits but are nothing compared to what the Niger-Delta holds. PTH, tell me how much Oil is extracted from Lagos, Ekiti or Ondo states as you said in your thread!, Absolute nonsense. Accuse Northerners of splitting the South--last time i checked, the Ijaw man will not be happy if called Igbo nor will the Edo be glad to be identified as Yoruba, So how is splitting who? The clamour for Presidency, VP, Senate for all this while have been split among the 6 geo-political zones in Nigeria and whose making is it? The North ?PTH, if you have nothing to else to bring to this debate other than your obscure observation and immense sense of stupidity, then i say you back off and concentrate at the topic at hand, giving good logical reasons for the persecution in Benue state. If not, continue to dwell in your rashness and I will square you off with every stupid statement you dish out here! |
PTH:PTH, Please can you tell me what Ondo state contributes to the federal purse. Or what SIGNIFICANT contribution does Osun, Anambra, Lokoja, Adamawa, Ekiti gives each month to the federation called Nigeria, NOTHING And why is that? Because 90% of Nigeria depends on Oil= The Niger- Delta! So don't come here telling me some bullshit about the North not surviving without the South or being like Niger---We all are going to be like Niger if the Niger-Delta was not there at the moment. Dont even bring the talk of Lagos because Lagos is on a whole different level in Nigeria. It's been the one and only vibrant centre of the past 100 years. So don't come here saying shit u don't know anything about, equating North= Poverty, exposing your idiocy and stupidity all over the place. "The North is the cesspool of diseases" Tell me one place in Nigeria where poverty and disease is not affecting the people. Benue is persecuting people for dressing and Sharia is the cause inspite of it been a Xtiam state. Lagos at the same moment is doing exactly the same but Sharia never came up! Even in a certain county in the State of Alabama, people are fined for exposing their bodies--belly showing is an act against the county and yet Sharia never came up. So why the double-standards here? Just like Debosky said here, its unfortunate that the 1st thing anyone thinks about once he sees "Northern" is Sharia/moslem driven? I'm getting sick of people not wanting to learn especially assholes like you PTH |
denex: Paw-Paw:LOL ![]() |
Wow, some people here are blaming Islam for the actions in Benue State. I am not even in support of the ban or persecution that is going on but cant stand to see how brazen some statements are made here. The same issue is going on in Lagos, but Islam never came up in that thread. Come to think of it, Benue is even a predominantly christian state. So the issue of Sharia will never rise up there. Its unfortunate that some people equated the North with poverty, disease and illteracy. Ive always said it. Not all Northerners are Moslems ( Myself for ex) and not all are Hausa or Sharia driven. Some people i guess think through their ass! It's Pathetic |
Recently, The Bush administration signed a $20Billion 10 year contract with Saudi-Arabia to supply arms and advanced weapons technology to them. They similarly have such proposals with Egypt, Israel, Bahrain, UAE, Jordan and other gulf states friendly to their cause. Reason given for these deals are that Iran is a rising star and needs to be curtailed in the Middle east. They've also signed a deal supplying F-15 Jet fighters to Pakistan, a move India has opposed as they were denied the same privilege. Ironically, The Bush administration stance in the middle is about Peace with Ms Condi Rice globetrotting on a daily basis to advocate that. My question is this: TayoD can help me answer this. How is it that your promote peace within a region but yet sell arms to regimes deemed oppressive by their people? what form of double standards practise in broad day-light is this. Bet me, but if Russia had just sold 10 anti-aircraft missles to Iran, CNN and all news networks will be making a heavy story out of it. Back to the arms supplies, Are the same mistakes done before not been made today again. Donald Rumseld once flew to Bagdad, shook Sadaam Hussein and sold him weapons to counter Iran. 5 years later, the secretly sold arms to Iran via the Iran-Contra scam. The same US armed the Mujaheddin fighters of Afghanistan in the 80's against the Soviet Union and came back to bomb them in 2003, describing them as a terrorist regime. Isn't selling weapons to all this states now another huge mistake in the making? what if Pakistan tomorrow has a nut-head as head of state. Or if another dictator someday rises from one of the arab states? Is it not disgraceful for a nation to profess Peace and fair judgement when the do they exact opposite? |
Bankole01:Yar'adua won and will win that elections anyday in Katsina state. Except from Daura where Muhammadu Buhari hails from, Yar'adua will win almost every LGA.
