Some people in this forum probably choose to be stupid at all cost. Where in the textbook of military behaviour does it say that one has to fight a war, coordinate a war or atleast kill an enemy soldier before he attains the rank of a general. Not even in the US is it required for a General to have experienced battle. Similarly anyone who says most Nigerian Generals have never coordinated, headed or be involved in a Peace keeping mission is sick. Nigeria's first peace keeping started in Congo with General Olusegun Obasanjo leading it. Various Nigerians have served at various capacities in that regard. Gen Victor Malu, Gen Joseph Garba, Gen Abdulsalami Abubakar, Gen Martin Luther Agwai among others. Infact the backbone of ECOMOG is solely Nigerian and it has been the most active peacekeeping force in Africa. The AU Force currently in Darfur is also predominantly Nigerian so any brouhaha of the Nigerian military not involved in peace-keeping is baseless! |
naijaway:Wow, Robert Mugabe has 7 University degress, PhD among them and yet he has held to power for a long time. Your reason smacks no sense at all. I would vote for Yar'adua if given the chance. But what difference does it make? Elections which were rigged and massively manipulated should be allowed to stand. I am of the view that we should not conduct fresh elections. Let the courts decide! |
@ Topic Is it not a disgrace that Abia 1st class chieves went down to Abuja to demand their "son'- Orji Uzor Kalu be released on time. How about Uche Chukwumerije who acted as a surety and yet stands on the senate floor to voice opposition to corruption, bad governance or other social vices. I just think that the Nigerian elite have failed us miserably. In other places, it will be a disgrace to be associated with this people. In Nigeria however, a fundraising and Thanksgiving welcome is organized after such a criminal. Dont be surprised to see Alams in church on sunday thanking "God for his Graciousness" with the "who is who" in Nigeria in attendance. They preacher or reverend will even bestow tributes and praises for the thief. It is unfortunate. The problem with Nigeria is true- Nigerians, but NOT EVERY NIGERIAN WILL STOOP SO LOW, thats for a fact! |
Alams sentence is adequte. Just like Angel101 said, it will set a standard. He is now a convicted felon of the Nigerian state, equally disgraced and humiliated just like Tafa Balogun. Soon other governors will join.Jolly Nyame has started spilling his own beans already. Iyiola Omisore was never convicted by any court of murder. People show under simple legal terms. Standing trial or accused of a crime does not equate to being a convict! |
Court Verdict said he pleaded guilty and sentenced to two years in prison in addition to returning properties and various sums of money to the Bayelsa treasury. However since he has been in detention since December 2005 ( mind u 1 year in prison= 9months), he has served his term and is free to go. There is no abracadra in that verdict or the way it was carried. It happens everywhere. http://www.guardiannewsngr.com/news/article01 |
Reverend:LOL ![]() |
babasin:This dude is stupid. Where in my post did you see me say a life of a foreigner is better than that of a Nigerian. Some people are useless! They read thru their arse. |
It is most disgraceful act to kidnap a toddler in the name of freedom fighting! |
aisha2:Aisha, It's good to avoid heated debates like this, but I will not lay idle in this forum and watch people spread malicious lies and concoted information about my heritage. Kazaure has said it all. No Nigerian, North or South benefits in any way when fraud or 419 is done under our passports. The Foreigner does not care if we are from the North or south, he sees us the same. It is a problem we all must tackle. But I believe that like every other problem, it should start from the grassroots. 419 is a predominantly southern thing- no denial here. It's fight must therefore start from the family. People who know that such perpetrators must advise against it. The analogy of placing the brunt of the issue on the doorstep of the North- saying years of maladmistration by successive governments has pushed people till today in commiting fraudulent acts is a biased statement and sparks no truth. You can choose to live upright in the face of trials and tribulations or you could whimper and take the path of shameless robbery and trickery! At Kazaure- Baba wetin dey happen now? |
OBJ is a man devoid of decorum, good manners, disobeys Party and National constituitions among others. The man is simply an animal, a raging bull in a china shop. Remember his book, "The Animal Called Man"??, probably he was referring to himself ![]() |
MILITIA:True Militia, the North has contributed enormously to Nigeria's problems in other areas too, that I will not deny. Infact i am ashamed of some of our products. But situations where everything that has gone bad with the country is laid on the doorstep of the North is absolute nonsense. We all as Nigerians must represent our state as a whole not based on sections. Tribalism will take us nowhere. Past generations have failed to unify us, probably it's a challenge for today's youth to embrace one another, look beyond bigotry and head on. Go Yar'adua, but please area boys, miscreants and yahoo-yahoo boys boys eg Andy Uba, Obanikoro must stay off ur cabinet! |
GNature:I agree |
Bankole01:Stupid Bankole, this article is about Southerners being the perpertartors of 419, credit card scams, advance fee fraud among others that adversely destroys Nigeria's image on a daily basis.CNN showed "how to rob a bank" again today,it featured Nigerians- Southerners. Talking about corruption and money laundering, I wonder if u ever heard of Tafa Balogun, Diepreye, Frank Ajudua, Ade Bendel among others, u also said corruption is solely a northern thing. I wonder where Ehindero, Ayo Fayose or all those filty criminals posing as politicians and statemen come from. Imagine gangsters like Adedibu and the Uba's holding sway in Oyo and Anambra. Uba solely installed all the state houseof assembly members in that state, all PDP in the midst of vast educated and literate people!. You say we rape girls, are pedopiles, homosexuals among others. Thats interesting, point to one society for me in the world deviod of such obscene behaviour.Or is it only Northerners that get charged of rape in our courtsor perhaps, you are simply expressing your colosal stupidity on this issue. I ask you again, Yar'adua whom you described as a cattle rearer, illiterate and a man with no clue in governance is unfortunately your first educated president, a man with a master's in chemistry and an astute administrator who efficiently ran his state. EFCC has a clean record for him. Boast of one such person from the past southern governors for me. Last I checked, He effectively managed his first crisis on fuel prices like a true leader, unlike past governemnts like Obasanjo's who enjoyed inflicting more harm on the masses. Again I ask you Bankole 1, what have you to show Yar'adua. He's got 150 million people in his wings. what do u have? Chronic foolishness, uncontrolled idiocy, abject rashness or are you just another retarded asshole? a psycho with buttons to press? |
Bankole01:Another useless fool with computer buttons to press since he has nothing meaniful in life to do. Yar'adua has a master's in Chemistry and leads a 150 million at the moment. What do u have to show other than the brazenly stupid pedigree u expose here? |
Tornadoz:True talk. It is obvious and well known that Nigerians, especially from the south at the sole perpetratous of 419. You are in denial if u don't agree with this. In the past 3 month, ive watched documentaries of ABC,NBC and CNN on bank fraud, money laudering, credit card scam among others. Nigerians were involved, all of them southerners! |
I honestly think it is about time this strike stops. NLC has bitten much than it can chew. Nigerians are bearing the brunt here. Just spoke to my mom and she's telling me how expensive petrol sells for. What is the point? 70naira, 65Naira,75 Naira. Concessions have to be made. The Federal Govt did hers, NLC has to do same. There is no point on going back to 65naira when improvements can be made with fuel at 70naira. Denex gave a logical assessment of crude prices, refining cost, transportation, supply among other cost incured before it gets to the final consumer which totals to more than 100naira or so. I think Nigerians ought to chew the bitter straw sometimes, if we want to reach better heights someday, we have to go thorugh a rigorous process. The GSM analogy was given, SIM cards started at almost 60000naira, now they are at 300naira. I think the petroleum sector, the power sector, water and all basic needs which continue to erode us must be deregulated. Even the US governement doesnt take full responsibilities for all this. Profits have to be made by whoever runs them, but it must not be made excessive over poor people. Bitter pills ought to be chewed. Those are just my two cents! |
Police, Obafemi Martins disagree over attack By Olukayode Thomas and Odita Sunday THE reported attack on Super Eagles' striker Obafemi Martins snowballed into controversy yesterday as the Lagos State Police Command insisted that the popular footballer was not personally attacked by armed robbers as he claimed. But in a swift reaction from Italy yesterday, Martins said he stood by his story. According to him, the police could not have claimed to know what happened and who was at the scene of the attack when they did not get there until an hour after. Lagos State Police spokesman, Mr. Olabode Ojajumi (SP), who spoke to journalists at the Command headquarters, in Ikeja said it was Martins vehicle which was attacked and not the footballer himself. According to Ojajumi: "Obafemi Martins' driver in company of one of his friends was looking for diesel at about 1 a:m. A vehicle hit his Mecedez Benz Jeep marked BD 900 BDG. When the driver noticed they were robbers, he quickly put off the ignition and ran with the key. Then the robbers shot at him but he managed to race to the hospital." He continued: "It was at that hospital that the driver of the vehicle, one Remi Onipede called the police and narrated what happened. "Our men went to the scene of the incident and removed the vehicle to the Ajah Police Station. The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ajah Police Station went to Martins' home at Victoria Garden City (VGC) at about 10 am in the morning to see the footballer, but he was told Martins was still sleeping and would not like to be disturbed. The DPO dropped his number and requested that Martins should call him." Ojajumi further explained that: "Martins actually called the DPO thanking him for the good work of the police and said he was travelling overseas. But he begged the DPO to release the vehicle to him for repairs and pledged to report to the station when he comes back from his trip abroad, which the DPO did. Where did police go wrong? They called us, we were not there. We went to the hospital where the driver narrated what happened to us. "His claim that he was attacked is a lie. He was not in the car. They were robbers who might have wanted to snatch the posh car but could not because the driver escaped with the key." Martins, who plays for Newcastle in the English Premier League told the world on Tuesday that he escaped uninjured after being shot at while driving in Lagos. "For a moment I thought I was going to die as they kept shooting at my car indiscriminately," said Martins. "Those guys wanted me dead - they had no intention of sparing anyone in the car. They were not robbers because after the shooting they left without taking anything from the car. I thank God that my friend survived. It was like a movie but I thank God I'm alive to tell the story," he added. The incident occurred at a petrol station by VGC, a suburb of Lagos, where Martins claimed he had stopped to buy fuel. Meanwhile, Super Eagles captain, Nwankwo Kanu, has insisted that Nigeria's Premier League stars need protection after Martins was almost killed by a gang of masked gunmen. "When I heard about it, I was totally shocked because I wonder why anyone would want to harm him," Kanu said. "It's a sheer act of wickedness and one can only pray that God continues to protect us," he added. |
kliverpool:LMAO . True talk sha |
I am not anambran, never been there, dont know Peter Obi nor Andy Uba. All i can say is that I am a proud Nigerian today with the justification to say that in Nigeria, we have people ready to embrace justice and exercise fairness in the face of danger and tribulations. Injustice will keep dying slowly from our land. Yar'adua Presidency has said that she will accept the verdict. The stolen mandate of Peter Obi has been returned. There is no Obasanjo to disobey the court order nor is there a Chris Uba to employ thugs. This is like a fairy story. God must be Anambran and Nigerian! |
Alot of stupid thinking in this forum. Our leaders should wear suit as that appears 'formal'. Formal my ass! What makes an Agbada or Babanrida informal in an international gathering. This is simply a case of 'Gringory going oyinbo". Yar'adua and all our leaders must be commended for wearing their robes on the international stage. Mbeki can wear all the suits he wants, i don't give a hoot about that. The case where we think our culture is inferior or what we wear, eat or say is deemed not befitting is the stupidest of comments uttered by a black man in the 21st century. I turn eyes when i wear my Kaftan to church here. Bleep off if u dont like it! |
adconline:what will u call a situation when a president acts within the powers bestowed on him to appoint whoever he deems fit for a position- Exercise of Presidential Might and that is Constituitional my friend! |
The same discord at the moment is been played at the Nigerian Senate. Because the Senate Pres and Deputy are christians, eyebrows are being raised. We really need to go beyond that. in 1993, SDP filed two muslims and won the most successfull election in Nigerian history. Nigeria should develop and do more of that! |
Okiro or Onovo, both from Rivers state and Ibo speaking does not guarrantee an effective Inspector General. It is what whichever has achieved or will achieve that will make the difference. The Nigerian Police at the moment is at its lowest ebb. Whoever takes charge must reverse this. I also find it quite interesting that the Ikwerre's are not considered Ibo enough. Its high time tribal discords stops. Statements like Ibo man at "sensitve position" are ridiculous. Once upon a time, we had Nnamani, Soludo, Okonjo-Iweala, Akinyuli, Ezekwelsi among others in top spots. Is that not sensitive enough? No one complained because they effectively did their job. That what the Nigerian police needs, hope Okiro does just that! |
The Super Eagles are at their lowest ebb ever. We need a new force who are really down for this nation. The case of Obafemi Martins going to Lagos when he's called is not good at all. It is either u want to honor and play for ur nation or you Bleep off and give someone a chance. Fucking assholes! |
Good for him. I never liked the guy anyway. He always seemed to sell his people negatively to the west. We agree that bad things happen in Africa but so also are many wonderfull good attributes going on a daily basis. The only time Jeff Koinange reports is when somewhere is burning, rioting, at war or some negative shit is going on. Good riddance to bad rubbish is all i will say! |
atiku4lyfe:How about Atiku and Adamawa state? what has he done as a Vice-President for the past 8 years of his people. Him and Boni Haruna keep siphoning money and not doing anything. Atiku was a bad mistake for VP. Hope such people never attain such heights in Naija anymore. |
lakeside4love:You can feel all the shame you want but this doesn't mean anything. The white house said they dont meet Presidents-elect, so Yaradua cant meet him when he becomes President. Anyone here who says US is not important in our affairs for now is hay-wire. U can't do without the west. Even China and India still depend on the west. You can say Yar'adua was selected, elected, erected, modulated or whatever english jargon comes to ur mind, all we know is that come May 29th, he will be president of 140million people. A free and fair election will have given him a mandate by the way. It's high time all those shouting realise that! Nigeria's democracy is still growing. Let us mature first then make elections more credible. One step at a time. Even America with over 200 years of election still saw "flying ballots" in Florida and outright rigging with Police help in 2000. |
Dariye, my 'governor' must be watched with all eyes shinning ![]() |
I will say my last words in this post. If indeed Kano state governement through Shekarau is imposing THE HIJAB, an Islamic dress code on every school girl in Kano state, then that is a step backward and I'll assure you that it will NEVER sail thru! If as i have argued that he seeks to make every school girl wear a VEIL to cover her hair in public, then i see nothing wrong in that, I do not owe an explanation to anyone for that, I do not feel any shame/remorse for that and i believe it to be a right he has as a caretaker/financier of the school and state in general! Thank You ![]() |
Davidylan, tell me exactly where Shekarau decreed that a Hijab must be worn by every school girl rather than a veil!!!!!! ![]() |
