Thank you for the detailed reply, as for luggages, my itinerary say 2bags 23kg each, also can I use my laptop bag as my hand luggage as I also need to take my laptop along.
Most airlines allow you to carry a piece of hand luggage, in addition to a standard sized laptop bag.

lololzzzz.. Oga dannyabba, me I need to know oooo. So dat I will know weda to go to Lagos or Abuja.
LOL! Just go and do it ASAP.
1. You don't need to have the 28 days complete before taking the test.
2. With CBN and FG's forex confusion, it's best to go for it before the amount for the test would skyrocket.
3. If you wait for too long, i.e. Till when you're ready for visa application, you might not be able to get a soon-enough date. That's what happened to me in 2014. I called in early July and the earliest date they could get for me for August 8th, more than 3 weeks away.

So in order to avoid delay and disappointment, kuku go for the test now and get the certificate. And know that all that's remaining is your financial statement.

hello everyone,

Is there a problem if I have been refused the general visitor uk visa 3 times and now wish to apply student visa? Do you think previous refusals will affect my student visa application?
Shouldn't be an issue, if you follow the Tier 4 guidelines. A friend of mine did this last year, with the same number of previous refusals. And funnily enough, she's the one that got her visa in 4 - 5 working days, without priority.

So no cause for alarm. Just take everything easy and all will be well. smiley

Hello. Please I need advise

I was given a scholarship (partial) that is to start 12th sept. I did my tb screening and was inconclusive. they told me till Oct b4 result. I'm very fine and OK,don't know how they arrived....pls your candid opinion
Hi,

You might have to defer till next year if your school's latest resumption date is way before the due date of your 8-week wait. I suffered the same fate from the Lagos office in 2014, even after bringing proof from three different certified and reputable clinics that there was nothing wrong with me.
More annoying cos even after I eventually deferred and retook the test with them the next year, they still made me wait, but thankfully I took the test in June so the certificate was out in early September, just in time for the visa application.
All the same, you can try to see if the Abuja people would reason with you. Although, trying to take the test in Lagos might be futile as they work with a centralised system and your passport number and personal details would immediately come up if they attempt to register you there.
I would strongly advise that you try to speak with your scholarship body and explain the situation to them, appealing for a deferral to next year as well.

Last last, there's nothing that is too difficult for God. So if your faith can carry you, you can pray for favour in advance before going to 'rub minds' with the IOM people again. Who knows?

Best of luck.

Guys, I started counting my 28days on the 20th and I actually used 370 to calculate. As it stands now the rate has actually increased beyond my expections. As it stands, I wl need to top up my account with about a million naira to be on d safe side and start counting again. My school resumes on the 26th of September. The money am expecting isn't forthcoming. My question is, if I start counting my 28days from next week, will it be late if I apply for visa on the 2nd week of September? And please what are the processes involved in the priority visa application. Please help. This is my time of need and this whole thing is weighing me down somuch.
cc: MrsF, MzsI, olowob,justwise,whatamidoinghere.
Thanks guys.
If it helps, I applied on the 6th of September last year, had my appointment on the 8th (with priority); the application was received by the Deputy High Commission in Lagos on the 9th (Don't know of now, but as at last year, all priority applications were processed there in Nigeria, as opposed to Sheffield for all others).
My decision mail came in on the 15th, and I picked up on the 17th.
School was due to resume on the 28th. So it took 6 to 7 working days and I applied in VI, which was seen to be the slowest in Nigeria at that time.
I should also say that I have a friend who applied through Abuja (no priority), few days before me, and she got her visa about 4 - 5 working days after. Emphasis on "no priority".
So what I'm saying in essence is that:
1. In response to your question, NO! It will not be late if you apply on the 2nd week of September (with priority).
2. Priority or not, I would advise you apply through Abuja. It has historically been the fastest VAC.
3. When your CAS comes out, you WILL have some extra days of grace (usually 2 weeks) to resume, so no cause for alarm.
4. Who knows? In the course of your new wait period, you might find a day with a favourable rate and print off that day, so you might not actually need to wait for the 28 days as initially thought.

Cheers!

@dannyabba thanks so much for your response.. Is it compulsory that i forward the money on my guardian account to my account before applying for the visa... Because the 28days is already on my guardian account details
I don't know so much about using guardian's other than parents. If it's your parents, I believe that should be fine as long as you provide a letter from them giving their consent to sponsor you, as well as your birth certificate.
For guardians other than blood parents, I'm afraid I don't know. It might be safer to move it to your own account. But maybe justwise or OlowoB can shed more light...

@dannyabba.
That's not true please. You have to pay atleast the
first instalment on your offer letter to indicate that
you have accepted the admission.
Kindly read my post well and get the facts right before you say what I wrote was false. I wrote that "as long as your school doesn't require you to pay any deposit".
By the way, all the deposits you're referring to, isn't it to get the CAS? Some schools issue CAS without deposits. And I must say that I am speaking from my own experience. My school (UCL) doesn't require any deposit/installment until you appear for your registration.
Therefore, visa applicants with UCL admission have had to show the complete tuition in the account plus the maintenance fees.

I have been silently folowing this thread over a year now... I have been given admission at kingston university to study geology.. Through my HND to continue from 100 level.. Accordingly to kingston uni.. All undergraduate applicant will have there CAS without any prior deposit.. And secondly the school is asking for the account prove before the issuance of CAS. So my question is, is it advisable to apply for visa without any prior deposit. And secondly after using the account for my CAS. With the 28days rule.. Intact on it.. How long is it expected to hold on to the printed statement of account before applying for the visa.. More over i want to use my legal guardian acount details which is my sponsor.. What are the document do i need from my legal guardian to validate my relationship with him
Yes, you can do that. As long as your school doesn't require any deposit to issue CAS, you don't have to pay in any money to them before applying for your visa. However, that automatically means that you must show your FULL tuition + maintenance fees in your account when applying.

quick questions
Was calculator provided at the venue. Or will there b an onscreen calculator
Wat are the chances for an environmental engr. ?
Secondly can one change ones offer letter
Hi,

If I recall correctly, there were no calculators supplied and we weren't allowed to use on-screen calculators either. Just rough work on plain paper. With regards to chances, I wouldn't know, but I'd say just try as you actually have nothing to lose. And regarding changing, officially you're not allowed to change under Agip's scheme. If you can contact Dragnet before the test though, maybe that might be possible. But thereafter... I highly doubt.
Nonetheless, I wish you all the best. smiley

pls, this scholarship is on again,,pls I am a prospective Msc Mechanical Engr...pls when u guys wrote, wat ws d area of concentrationhuh.. I learnt that Engineering based questions also came out....pls can u elucidate more on this??
Yeah sorry, I have been off Nairaland for some days. I'm just seeing this.

First of all, I should mention that it wasn't Dragnet so things might be somewhat different for you guys. Yes, we had disciplined-based questions, engineering for me; in addition to standard Numerical and Verbal sections.

The test was pretty basic and infact suspiciously simple, and I'm sure that was what caught many people unawares, because we were all expecting Dragnet-esque questions but were faced with other seemingly minor stuff that one would normally overlook as being too simple to ask. By this, I'm referring mostly to the discipline-based (Engineering) one, which was essentially Physics and Applied Mechanics, asking questions about momentum and true/false questions about if a body collides with another body, will it move in this or that direction? Those kinds of questions sha, if you get my drift. But we were preparing for more tech and advanced stuff.

In my opinion, that section was biased towards mechanical engineering guys as those elements in the questions were found, one way or the other, in the course of our BEng degrees.

The English and Maths bits were about the same usual ones you would find on just about any aptitude test. But this one now that Dragnet is taking over again this year, I fear that the format might be different. I took Dragnet for ExxonMobil the year before and it wasn't so great. In fact, truth be told, it was horrible for me. LOL!
Time was just flying before my eyes and I didn't know what was happening. That was my first attempt sha and I had not even graduated at that time. So maybe na why!

But judging from the two, Dragnet was more complicated and time was shorter. In this vein, I uploaded some sample Dragnet tests last year. You can find them on the ExxonMobil scholarship thread from last year; page 8 for the Numerical and Verbal sections. I don't know about discipline-based tests for Dragnet and sadly, I do not have any sample papers. But I believe the Numerical and verbal ones would be good practice for you in terms of speed and accuracy.
I should also say that after laying hold of these samples some time last year, I found some of the questions from the Mobil test of the previous year there so it's worth going over.

I wish you all the best.

Apologies for the epistles. LOL! Let me know if you need further clarification. Cheers!
