Episode 7:Big sin big trouble I could swear that I saw smoke coming out from my dad's ears, the look on his face could force Abacha to run from Aso Rock. My dad pulled me up with one hand immediately and the next place I landed was at the passenger seat of my dad's car, he put on the seat belt for me and put on the car and drove out without taking his bible from the church or my mum and Favour. As we were driving, I noticed that we were going home, the moment I asked him why we were going home without my mum and Favour, I got the dirtiest and most prolific backhand slap in history , I immediately got temporal blindness, couldn't see but only could hear the sound of the breeze outside and the sound of car horns close to us sounded like echoes that were afar off. Immediately I was getting my sight back dad gave me another slap, this time it had more effect than the other because I couldn't open my eyes until we got home, when he parked the car he came around and carried me like I was a tiny baby, he took me into the house and gave me another slap this time around instead of losing my sight my eyes got opened and I could see him clearly. He gave me 15 strokes of cane( yes we had a cane at home, who wouldn't when you have a child like me) and told me to change my cloths, he did same and we went back to church . By the time we got to church , they were already sharing the Grace in fellowship, dad just went inside and came back later with his bible ( that was when no one dared to steal in church try it Now and see If they won't swerve it for you watch Stolen bible if you think am lying) and my mum and Favour . My mum and dad could be seem from afar off and I could detect her asking why he was dressed differently from what he wore earlier and he told her I spilled Zobo on him, mum came and we drove off. On our way home, as if there was nothing else for Favour to ask she asked the forbidden question, the question I was avoiding all day( some siblings can be so annoying they will just do some things Or ask a question in the presence of your parents so it could put you in trouble , yes I know you understand ) she asked where I got the money to buy the zobo and what I was eating in church. That was the question that made the car to make I screeching sound and she continued 'hope its not your offering money you used?' As if it was rehearsed, mum and dad turned back at the same time to look at me and I didn't need to talk because my guilty face already gave me out, I became like a mouse cornered, their looks blaring on me like Superman's heat vision on my body. Next thing I know I saw my mum step out of the car and move towards the bush. Minutes later I looked and saw my mum coming out with plenty canes as if she was going to cook with firewood that day, the car boot was opened and all the canes were dropped inside, then mum came inside the car and we headed home . MANCHESTER UNITED have approached Barcelona about the possibility of signing Yerr Mina. That’s according to beIN Sports correspondent Tancredi Palmeri. Jose Mourinho is desperate for a new centre-back this summer as he seeks a long-term partner for Eric Bailly. The Portuguese appears to have lost faith in English duo Chris Smalling and Phil Jones, while Marcos Rojo and Victor Lindelof have both been linked with Old Trafford exits. United have been linked with a number of high- profile defenders, including Toby Alderweireld, Raphael Varane and Harry Maguire. But after balking at Leicester’s stunning £75m asking price for Maguire, it appears they’ve turned their attention to Mina. The Colombian has been attracting a lot of attention from European clubs following an impressive World Cup campaign. Mina scored three times, including a stoppage- time equaliser against England in the last 16. Wolves, Everton and Newcastle are among the Premier League sides believed to be chasing him. But United have made the first move by approaching the La Liga side over a transfer. Palmeri tweeted: “Manchester United have contacted Barcelona for Yerri Mina.” Mina only joined Barcelona from Palmeiras in January but he has struggled to break into the team ahead Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti. And the 23-year-old has fallen further down the Nou Camp pecking order following the arrival of Clement Lenglet from Sevilla. source: https://crusadersii..com/2018/07/man-utd-transfer-news-red-devils-open.html

EPISODE 6: KARMA WAS NOT DONE YET I was at home for one week, no going to school just sit in the parlor and enjoy as mum made sure I lacked nothing, Favour became tired of my constant whining and complaining because she became my errand girl in the house, she even washed my clothes which was something she had vowed not to do for me again but here she was doing it and she was even asked to bring food to me whenever food was prepared. Dad bought suya and yoghurt for me whenever he returned from work, the down side of my indoor arrest was that I couldn’t go out to play with my friends again but they still came around to keep me company after they returned from school. Mum made sure my food was much and it had three meats on my food, an honor I enjoyed only legally during the Christmas season or illegally was when I was opportune to dish my food myself from the pot and I usually buried meat at every layer of rice I dished, I do put two meats under the rice then put one on top of the rice. But as they say nothing lasts forever and everything good must come to an end, my one week of love showering was over and it was time to pay the price of the TV stand I broke which culminated in the destruction of the video player. The following Sunday we all went to church and as the jagaban one among the boys we were the head of affairs in the children church, I would be given ₦20 then for offering, I will drop the ₦20 in the offering basket and since I was the one collecting the offering I would take the remaining change of ₦15 meaning I gave God ₦5 and would go and buy zobo ₦5, sweet ₦5 and speedie biscuit ₦5. This used to be my normal routine, but on this Sunday karma remembered my case and was not done with me yet and had only taken one week break on my matter. After offering time I went out with my ₦15 as usual to buy my normal junk, on my way back as I was sipping the zobo and biscuit, I was supposed to follow the normal short way to the children church instead I followed the longer route that goes through the corridor of the adult church, I did it because I wanted to finish what I was eating before getting there so I don’t get to share with the other boys in the children church. How I wish I had just gone that way, as I followed the other route I wasn’t looking forward and I bumped into someone and my zobo spilled on the person wearing white agbada, I looked up whole and behold it was my dad, the whole world froze and I just wished the ground would just open up to swallow me.. EPISODE 4: CONQUERING FEAR My dad knew very much how I feared injections and he probably wanted to deal with me so he told the nurse that shouldn’t I be given at least some injections to stop the pain since I still looked like I was in deep pain. I immediately developed a lump in my throat as I couldn’t say anything or protest that I was fine, the nurse looked at me and concurred that if I was in deep pain then she would of course give me like three injections, the shock of three needles piercing my buttocks was so much that I didn’t know when I nodded my head up and down and the next thing I heard was the nurse calling a fellow nurse to prepare the injections for me, it was at that point that the soundtrack of “TERMINATOR” part one started playing in my head. As the nurse brought the injections and the ampoule, I was already shivering like water leaf, then the nurse did the scariest thing a nurse could probably do, she put on a grin face and started beating the mouth of the injection and shooting out the liquid from the injection. I was so scared and it was as if I was going to die, then Love walked in through the door. Let me just say it, no one will ever love you the way your mum or sister will, (there is difference between mother and mum, you should know by now), mum just walked into the ward and immediately she saw me shivering with fear she stopped the nurse, but dad insisted I be injected so I can heal quickly and stop the complaint of pain, in my mind I was like who told this man I complained, infact, when did I complain to anybody? Dad insisted so mum said the nurse should change the needle to a smaller one so that my buttocks doesn’t hurt me. So the needle was changed and mum held my hand and started giving me pep talk, I looked towards Favour and saw her smiling sheepishly (oh yes she smiled, because she warned me not to watch film in the morning) as if she was saying “good for you, God done catch you today”, I turned back to my mum looked her in the eyes and I just absorbed all that she was saying about how she loved me and will be by me so I shouldn’t fear. That moment I became charged up didn’t know when I shouted “CHARGING!!” to the bewilderment of everyone present, the nurse warned me not to tighten my buttocks hence the needle will break inside, this reduced my charging but I was encouraged and fearless. I dusted the three injections without fear, I then tried to drop my leg on the floor, pain had gone slightly and I was happy, everyone hugged me and I was feeling like the most beloved child in the world. The nurses laughed at me and I became shy, they started calling me Bobo, till this day that name stuck. TO BE CONTINUED.... |
The APC is currently divided into four warring camps as follows: a) The Aso Rock Cabal Camp (ARC) b) The Buhari Political Friends Camp (BPF) c) The Bola Ahmed Tinubu Camp (BAT) d) The Bukola Saraki Camp (BS) a) The Aso Rock Cabal Camp (ARC) currently is about the most powerful of all the four camps. The reason this camp is the most powerful is that they are the family members of the President. The President is loyal to them 120%. The President would rather die than question their decisions. They determine who sees the President and who gets the favours of and from the President. This group is led by Mamman Daura, the invisible visible hand who is actually doing the governing of this country in practical terms. Other members include the Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari who was raised by Mamman Daura. He would defend Daura with his blood. In this inner circle is the boss of Directorate of State Security (DSS) Lawal Daura. They are so powerful that they sent out the First Lady, Hajia Aisha Buhari out of United Kingdom, away from her sickly husband and she could not bat an eyelid. The did it and nothing happened and President Buhari was very happy about it. It is being suspected that General Yusuf Buratai and Minister of Internal Affairs, retired General Dambazzau are members of this camp. For the ARC, the fear of Bola Tinubu is the beginning of wisdom. This camp lives in perpetual fear of Bola Tinubu and is ready to go to any length to emasculate him. The members believe that Tinubu has to be rendered ineffectual by all means, especially with eyes on 2019. For this reason, they are keeping more than an eye on Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. They are praying that President Buhari does not give up the ghost for obvious reasons. The ARC has made an alliance with Senator Bukola Saraki. And they bent on convincing the President to come out for him and support hi publicly regardless of the cost to the faked integrity of the President. President trusts the ARC more than any group. The DSS already told Nigerians that Senator Saraki is “not corrupt.” The ARC hates Ibrahim Magu, the acting chairman of the EFFC, with passion. That passion could only be matched by Senator Saraki who has been humiliated repeatedly by Magu. They have common interest to see that Magu never emerges as the de facto and de jure chair of the EFCC. The need to keep Bola Tinubu ineffectual is another common interest between the ARC and the BS camp. More on this issue later. b) The Buhari Political Friends Camp (BPF). These are political friends of Buhari who are considered no threat to the control of the presidency by the ARC. They are largely tolerated and allowed their space to do what they wanted to do as long as they understood their boundaries. This group have no influence whatsoever on the President. The president does not show any dislike for them but he is in no way committed to any of them He has not expressed any form of lack of confidence in them but has not expressly showed any form of confidence in them. Members of these group include Ministers such as Kayode Fayemi, Rotimi Amaechi, Babatunde Fashola and their ilk. Some of them are not antagonistic to the Bukola Saraki camp. Though, they have not shown openly their loyalty to Bukola Saraki. This group is secretly interested in clipping the wings of BAT camp but is not openly expressing that desire. This has put them in the good book of the ARC. For those of them that are of Yoruba extraction, they are in a quandary. They have no choice but to tread carefully because the Yoruba consensus now is that Bola Tinubu should not be allowed to be humiliated by the ARC and others gunning for him. It is not clear if this current protective support of Bola Tinubu by the Yoruba leadership would translate to votes in 2019 across Yoruba land, but it would be better to allow time to tell, as things continue to unravel. c) The Bola Ahmed Tinubu Camp is arguably the smartest but currently the weakest of all the groups. This camp has been suffering from lack of vision and proper planning and is paying dearly for it. In the days leading to the election, the leadership of the group failed to pay attention to a lot of pointers showing them that the group could be at risk in a Buhari administration. Right now, the leadership of the group is playing “good boy” to the administration as much as it could. It recognizes the threat of ARC and it is not willing to dare the cabal. This group is compelled to show its loyalty to the President at all times even in absurd situations such as the killing of the Yoruba people in Ile-Ife in Osun State. Even when one of the leading members of this group, Senator Ali Ndume was suspended from the Senate by the Saraki camp, there was not a whimper from any other member of the group or its leadership. The leadership of this group is busy trying to save itself and its political relevance rather than worry excessively about a member suffering “only suspension” for six months. This group has been on a losing spree since Buhari took over power despite its enormous contribution to installing this administration. It lost the Senate Presidency to its rival Saraki camp that described the Vice President Osinbajo as an “ordinary commissioner.” It los many of the principal positions in the Senate and has been reduced to spectators in the body. The group also suffered the same fate in the Lower House as all its candidates were left in the rain soaked without recourse. It won some negligible principal positions in the lower chamber and that was it. The lower house is more loyal to the Saraki camp without any question and the leadership of that arm of the government is working with the ARC too as an extended arm of the Saraki camp. Even in the appointment of Ministers, many nominees of the group often hit the swimming pool with their clothes on. They could not be considered seriously because of the stance of ARC against the leader of this group. This group also seems to have become an albatross on the neck of Ibrahim Magu because of its support for the EFCC acting chairman. The Saraki camp and the ARC seemed to believe that Magu is a pawn in the playbook o Bola Tinubu and are determined to frustrate him. It is however believed that this group could bounce back in 2019. How this would turn out is not clear yet as Bola Tinubu has been going around begging for forgiveness for disrespecting the Afenifere leadership and some Yoruba Obas. Indications are that he has been listened to in order to save him from humiliation by the ARC. “Olomo buruku”, the Yoruba often say, “ko lee fi fun ekun paje.” Whether this forgiveness would lead to votes from the suffering Yoruba people who are now asking themselves whether Tinubu’s judgment could be trusted, remained to be seen. d) The Bukola Saraki camp in comparison to the ARC may not appear to be the strongest of all the groups, but without any question, it seems to be the most formidable of all. It is the only camp that has a leg in every group except the BAT camp. It is amazing that despite the media war against him, he has been able to survive, resurge, recalibrate and realign his forces to become more formidable than he was at the beginning of Buhari administration. A major factor for his survival is his ability to plan ahead, unlike the BAT camp that keeps exuding embarrassing naivety about politics. This is because, the BAT camp believed their own lies that Buhari has “integrity” and is “incorruptible.” Hmmmmmm! But Saraki camp did not give and still does not give a damn about any stupid “war on corruption.” He probably knows that Buhari is a pretender as this writer has been pointing out for years. He must have recognized that Buhari is a dedicated and committed member of the family of the corrupt political leadership and went for the jugular. He was right. And Buhari, the “ Mr. Integrity” has his DSS come out to endorse Saraki publicly, insisting that the Senator “is not corrupt.” While the BAT camp engaged in media war against Bukola Saraki, the latter knowing the truth about Buhari as a committed comrade in corruption and thievery, allied with him with the help of the ARC. From that point, he had an excuse made for him as the DSS provided the template for him and his ilk to refuse to confirm Magu as the EFCC chair. Other members of the Senate who see themselves in their leader, Saraki, became blindly loyal to him. They worship him. They adore him. They daily seek his footsteps and walked in them. They banded with him and fought back Magu and the media which they concluded were biased against them. With Saraki firmly in control of the Senate, he has the power to do a few things to Buhari. But he did not. Rather he went for the soft spot of Buhari and hemmed in. He came out with an alliance with ARC. Meanwhile, he was carrying the Speaker of the House along with him and they became a formidable force together. The members of the BPF, mostly Ministers, would not do anything to antagonize the Senate leader otherwise the budget of their Ministries could be in jeopardy. They know where their bread is buttered so they could also help themselves while the parody lasts. INTANGIBLES: Other variables in the staying power of Saraki, is the silent but very effective and strong support of the Northern Emirs across the board. They do not consider him corrupt. He takes care of them. They had supported him from the beginning and were instrumental to his becoming the Senate president. There are also other party big wigs silent but in active support of Saraki. They are operating from behind the scenes. The way Saraki has been able to hold everything together, so far, explains why he has been so strong in Kwara state for so long. It is difficult to place former Vice President, Abubakar Atiku. Available information shows that the ARC does not see him as an enemy. In fact he has kept communication with the President and they speak not infrequently. He is also reported not to be unfriendly with the Saraki camp. The BAT camp is playing hide and seek with him. And some members of the BPF are friendly with him as with some powerful members of the Northern establishment. Nasir El Rufai is a loser all round in this. He shot himself in the foot with that secret memo to President Buhari. The ARC is gunning for him. He has also stupidly engaged in open fight with Vice President Atiku. The Saraki camp has no love lost for him. The Emirs are also not very impressed with him the way he has handled the Southern Kaduna imbroglio in which he has shown flagrant and dangerous zealotry. Senator Shehu Sani has also done his own damage to Rufai’s fragile reputation. While the BAT group still has the loyalty of some Northern political big wigs, it is difficult to gauge their political value as of now. Things would become clearer as events unfold. Many believe that it would be unwise to write off the BAT group as a factor in 2019. . Time, as usual, will tell! ================= “In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. I do not shrink from this responsibility – I welcome it.” ~ John F. Kennedy, in his Inaugural Address on January 20, 1961. EPISODE 4: KARMA From the previous episode I know most of you will be expecting that I and my friends will get a very tough time at the hands of the soldiers. Well I am so happy to tell you that we didn’t suffer at all, and if you are surprised why we didn’t get tortured, it is because I woke up from my dream. Yes, it was all a dream. I had just woken up from my afternoon siesta after returning from school, as I woke up from this dream I was busy pondering on what day mare (if that word exists) I just had when I heard a knock on the door, I rushed to answer it, whole and behold it was Sule and my remaining friends who I just had a bad dream about. That moment my mouth was left open in shock when Sule told me to come let us go and play police and thief, the dream came back to me fresh and clear. The next day was Friday, I woke up at my usual 4am and did my morning routine, I know you guys might think my morning routine was to sweep, wash plate or any house chores, well I didn’t believe in doing those because I thought it was girls work and a waste of time for boys. How wrongly I must have thought that day because I sneaked as usual to the parlor to watch the movie “WHO AM I?” acted by Jackie Chan, remember those olden days video cassette, yes, that is what I used to play the movie and my father knowing how much I loved movies bought that very high television stand so that my hand won’t reach it to play movie, but how wrongly he thought because he didn’t know that the small Jackie Chan he had at home used to pile up the parlor stools on each other so that my hand could reach it. But on that day, it seemed karma had special plans for me, I piled up the stools as usual and climbed to insert the cassette and that is when it happened. The stools shook and I fell towards the tv stand and since it was on a glass layer, everything fell, glasses were broken and I fell down pretty hard and even had a glass pierce my lap, I screamed my lungs out and my sister who was in the kitchen rushed in first and on also seeing me she screamed and ran to inform my parents. As for me I was already saying my last prayer because if my parents don’t kill me the pain I felt from the fall would. So my parents rushed to the parlor and contrary to the beating I was expecting to receive as typical of the African parent, I saw my parents cry and hug me and checking my well being. My father rushed to get his car key and carried me like I was a baby (of course I was his baby), he took me into the car and zoomed off to the hospital we had in the quarters, I had never seen my dad drive so fast before, in my stupid mind my dad was James Bond and I was the hostage kid he had come to rescue and we were been chased by the boss people. I was snapped out of my imagination back to the reality of what was happening, when I saw nurses rushing to carry me into the hospital. I was stitched with an iron-like thread (till today I still don’t know what that was), the funniest part was that I was truly in serious pain until the nurse told my dad, won’t be able to go to school for about a week after my dad had asked if I would be fit to go to school that same day, when the nurse said I won’t be able to I almost jumped up to hug her but wished she had rather said I won’t be able to ever go to school again. With the latest development the pain I was in vanished and what was the reigning dance step that time self? AWILO, I was dancing Awilo better than the Awilo Lokomba himself, but it was all in my mind, an involuntary smile escaped my face and my dad saw it and shot me a scornful look, I immediately recomposed myself and feigned a painful look. My dad knowing I was enjoying the latest news and wanted to get back at me came up with a trick. Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan has dared President Muhammadu Buhari to arrest Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder of Living Faith Church. This is coming after Bishop Oyedepo admonished President Muhammadu Buhari to “resign” from office over the spate of killings in the country. He stated this on Sunday at the church’s headquarters in Canaan Land, Ota. But Omokri, while reacting said Buhari will meet his end if he dares to touch Bishop Oyedepo. According to him, “Oyedepo is right to call Buhari to resign over his failed leadership. On his Twitter page, “I dare Muhammadu Buhari to lay a hand on Bishop @DavidOyedepo for speaking the truth to him. He tries it and he meets his Waterloo! “Bishop Oyedepo is right in asking @MBuhari to resign and go. This is a failed leadership that has brought little beside sorrow, tears, and blood!” source: https://crusadersiii./2018/07/24/what-will-happen-if-buharitouches-bishop-oyedepo-omokri/#more-229 |
EPISODE 3: Double Wahala Immediately, we didn’t need an umpire to shoot a gun to alert us to take off at the same time, ironically we ran in the same direction, (wetin I chop were I no give my leg that day), I ran like mad, we were struggling to overtake each other and the farther we went the more it seemed like the hissing was getting nearer or was it my mind playing tricks on me? All the same it gave me extra motivation to run like hell. The most surprising thing of all was that the fastest among us was the big bellied Sule, he was the one in front and I was closely behind him. So it meant that Sule was the one leading and we all followed any way he followed so we don’t get missing. Instead of running towards home we were running further into the bush. We started seeing giant trees. As if Sule couldn’t lead us any more into trouble, we rushed into a camp where soldiers were doing their training, we tried to rush back but very loud baritone voice sounded like thunder, STOP THERE!! as if my movie filled- brain couldn’t think of anything else it recalled how soldiers dealt with people in that movie titled “NAM ANGEL”, then the final straw that broke the camel’s back was when the same mean-looking soldier thundered; SO YOU KIDS ARE THE ONE STEALING FROM OUR CAMP ABI ?. And guess what; that was in the year 1996 (THE DREADED REGIME OF GENERAL SANI ABACHA). I just fainted as the soldier came close to us and I was the one in front now. To be continued... |
CONTINUATION TWO Then I came up with the idea of running towards the bush we had not ventured into. I purposely slowed down so that they could catch up and the moment they drew closer I sprinted into the bush, they followed also and chased me there, I hid at a corner in the bush to catch my breathe, I then observed a red-like stain on my shirt. I initially I had thought I had hurt myself until I looked beside me and saw a berry plant close to me , I picked it and smelt it, it scented nice, I had not tasted it before so I went ahead to taste it and it was very sweet, I went further to pluck many more to eat, some I kept in my pocket. As this was going on, my friends seriously looking for me in this very strange bush, at a point they started to shout my name that I had won the game. I just smiled and continued eating my berry until I had gotten to my level of saturation then I stood up from my hiding place and called them. When they saw me, they rushed towards me but I didn’t run this time around because they had already conceded defeated, so I was already the winner of the game. When they got to where I was they saw my tongue and mouth very red and even my shirt was stained red, they inquired if I was injured, but I told them about the fruit I had just eaten, they looked at the fruit and tasted and it and it seemed like they liked it too, they all started to pick the fruit but the most aggressive plucker was Sule who was the food monger amongst us all( we once heard he ate half of the food his mum was cooking while it was still on the stove and very hot). He was just rushing and plucking hurriedly so he would pluck the most and in the process scattering some bushes close to the berry plant, even when I cautioned to take it easy so that he doesn’t destroy the plant but it all fell on deaf ears as he continued to still rush the plucking. All was going well until I heard a sound, maybe you guys can guess what the sound I heard was; it was a hissing sound. I called the attention of the others to the sound I just heard, they stopped to listen save for Sule was the last to stop because he wanted to pluck more. We traced where it was coming from until we looked at a bush close to where Sule was and there they were, two big snakes staring at us and hissing , it seemed like they were angry for disturbing them( I still think those snakes were mating) because they hissed repeatedly. It was at that moment that I remembered the scene that played in the movie I just watched the previous night, “ANACONDA.” TO BE CONTINUED…….. CRUSADER’S DIARY PROLOGUE My name is Victor, the only son of Dr Idris and Mrs Rose Solomon, though I have an elder sister called Favour who more or less became my best friend. This is a reflection of my growing up and I know everyone else had one. Some part of this story is made up while majority is real, so if anyone says he or she has the exact story as mine that’s totally false. My story is full of fun, pain and twists. Once again my name is Victor and this is my story. BEGINNING My family and I resided at an estate next to a barrack and as such I had lots and lots of affiliation and association with many barrack kids. At the age of 7years, I knew virtually all the names of movies (actually action ones), I could pronounce the tittle and names of movies but the other side to this was that I actually couldn’t read. I remember been spanked whenever I was told to do my homework because I saw it as been boring and a waste of time, rather I preferred to go out with the other kids in our estate and the barrack to wander into the bush to seem like we were on an adventure .We go into the bush to seem like we were on an adventure. We go into the bush to play Police and Thief, I loved this game because it helped me put into action all those cool things I watched in the action movies I watched, most especially that movie titled “Hard way the only way,” I loved that movie so much that I could keep watching it over and over again. Well back to the story, so it happened on this particular day, that we set out as usual to play police and thief, we were eleven (11) in number, and we were to divide it into five people to act as thief and six people to act as the police, and trust me I made sure I was among the thieves, and the police were to chase the thieves until we were caught, on we were given time to go and hide. On my way back from school earlier that day, I had noticed some bushes we had not ventured into yet and I thought it cool to explore during the game when next we played. So immediately we were given a little time to escape I ran into a bush but definitely not to the direction of the bush I saw earlier that day (I was not that dumb then), so I won’t easily be tracked there, I climbed up a tree to watch how the others fared. In about six minutes the remaining thieves had been caught and I was the only one remaining, they searched and searched the bushes but none of them saw me. For another ten minutes all the police and even the thieves joined effort to look for me, I was on the tree well-hidden and watched them all toil in vain, after sometime, I began to get bored so I decided to spice the game up, I came down Nicodemusly and purposely drew attention to myself . Immediately, they all turned and saw me and they ran towards me like the way Captain Jack Sparrow was always been chased. To be continued ..... A Deputy Vice Chancellor with the Nasarawa State University, Professor Musa Inuwa Fodio has urged accountants to simplify accounting information, so as to enable common man on the street demand for accountability from the government and by so doing, contribute to the ongoing war against graft. Prof Fodio made this call during the university’s 18th inaugural lectures series in Keffi. According to him, “When I talked about social accountability, I am demystifying accounting and accounting reports, so that, a common man on the street can understand the information we reel out to the public. That was why I said, social accountability has to do with deconstructing accounting for public interest. Fodio explained that the role of accountants is essentially to serve the public. He therefore, asked accountants to do their reports in such a way as the common man can understand. “The obligation of an accountant is to serve the public, even though, I deconstructed to say that, accountants should begin to redefine the relevant public, I insisted that the real public must be served. And, the real public are common men on the street. The common man on the street must begin to use accounting information to hold political office holders and those charged with the responsibility of managing our resource to account.” He reiterated that for the ordinary Nigerians to be empowered to join government in the ongoing war against graft, they must equip with the required information. According to the professor of accounting, the people can be empowered to ask the following questions: “How have you managed our resources, tell us how much you collected, tell us how much you spent, tell us how your spendings has actually impacted the common man. The common man should be able to use accounting information to ask lots of questions. “As things are now, the common man finds it difficult to demand for accountability because accounting information has been made so complicated for him to understand. “The whole lecture is about, how do we begin to simplify this information for the common man, so that, he can determine which government is accountable and which is not. “How do we begin to hold government accountable and to punish public officials who are not accountable?” source: https://crusadersiii./2018/07/18/simplify-accounting-information-to-help-anti-graft-war-prof-fodio/ |
Belgium Honours Lumumba, DR Congo Independence Hero Campaigners say Belgium has taken a step towards acknowledging its dark colonial history by renaming a city square after the assassinated Congolese leader Patrice Lumumba. Hundreds cheered as "Bastion square" in Brussels' largely Congolese neighbourhood of Matongé was officially renamed "Patrice Lumumba square" in a ceremony at the weekend. Some of Patrice Lumumba's relatives were there. Belgium, the former colonial power, has apologised for playing a role in his death. Several speakers at the event criticised the fact that elsewhere in the city statues to Belgium's King Leopold II are still visible, despite the brutality of his rule over Congo in the late 19th and early 20th Century. A Belgian campaign group tweeted these photos showing the new plaques, saying that it was important to insert African historical figures into public spaces because it made their legacy "visible and timeless" for future generations. Mr Lumumba was deposed with the backing of Western governments - including its former colonial master Belgium - just months after coming to power in 1960. He was then handed over to his enemies, and murdered in detention in January 1961. The US and Britain have also been accused of being complicit in the murder of the former Congolese prime minister who had close ties with the Soviet Union. “By inaugurating this square, we’re not repairing the past, we’re not closing a chapter of history,” said Philippe Close, the mayor of Brussels. “Today, by inaugurating this square, we forget nothing." source: https://crusadersiii./2018/07/18/belgium-honours-lumumba-dr-congo-independence-hero/#more-217 |

Zinedine Zidane is reportedly set to make a sensational return to Juventus as a sporting director, according to Spanish outlet, Libertad Digital. Zidane resigned from his post as Real Madrid boss, after winning the Champions League title for a third successive year. The Frenchman would be returning to the Serie A club 17 years after he left as a player, in a then world record €77.5m move to Real Madrid. After hanging up his boots, Zidane worked upstairs at the Santiago Bernabeu, before replacing Rafa Benitez in 2016. Zidane would work alongside current sporting director Fabio Paratici. Paratici currently works alongside Beppe Marotta, the general manager, and the pair worked together to bring Cristiano Ronaldo to Turin in a £88m deal. Should Zidane join Juventus, it would see him back working in conjunction with Ronaldo again, with the pair aiming for a fourth successive European crown. source: https://crusadersiii./2018/07/18/zidane-set-to-join-ronaldo-at-juventus/ |
Kylian Mbappe garnered global recognition for his performances in this year’s World Cup, but the proceeds he earned are not going to him, it has been reported. Mbappe, who scored four goals this year as France claimed its second World Cup, decided to donate his earnings from the tournament to a charity that gives free sports instruction to hospitalized and disabled children in sports, Premiers de Cordee. The organization also coordinates disability awareness campaigns for schools and businesses, according to the French news outlet L’Equipe. After consulting with his entourage, Mbappe decided his World Cup premiums can serve a humanitarian cause, according to L’Equipe. “Kylian, he's a great person,” Sebastien Ruffin, general manager of Premiers de Cordee, told Le Parisien. “When his schedule allows it, he intervenes for us with pleasure. He has a very good [relationship] with children, he always finds the right [words] to encourage them. I sometimes even feel that [he] takes more pleasure to play with the kids than the kids themselves.” Sports Illustrated reported that Mbappe earns about £17,000 per game with bonuses. The news outlet also reported that Mbappe received a £265,000 bonus (about $350,000) if France won the tournament. The French national team did just that, defeating Croatia 4-2 in the final Sunday. Mbappe has been supporting the organization since June 2017. source: https://crusadersii..com/2018/07/wow-you-won-believe-what-mbappe-is.html#more
