Politics / Re: Ipob Opposes Creation Of State Police, Says Regional Police Is Preferred by danvon(m): 1:11pm On Mar 09
He made a fair criticism though

Some governors cannot be trusted with power, arguably some political parties can't be trusted either...

State police would work best in a country without sharp ethnic and religious lines, I think they have to structure it in a way so that there must some form of weak central authority.
Politics / Re: Hardship: 80-Year-Old Man Commits Suicide In Lagos by danvon(m): 11:51pm On Mar 08
He is 80 years old, he got tired of waiting for death to sneak up on him and choose to face it bravely.

He is a hero, he doesn't need any pity, pity is the death to pride.

If they had carried out that barbaric act of lynching him and setting fire on him then the Police would have arrested every single community head , igwe , ezes , PGs, youth leaders and youth with pubic hair.

So you are trying to rationalize murdering a human over the justifiable killing of a monkey that was meant as food ?

I'm trying to say when Deborah allegedly insulted the Prophet she was burnt alive, in broad daylight, the police didn't really do much and they couldn't do much even if they wanted to.

You are condemning this people for taking this case to the police like civilized people, you keep mistaking respect for authority with fear for authority.

Then he has no business being arrested by the police and can not be arraigned in a court of law.

They should free him asap and he should counter sue the community for false imprisonment and for confiscating his property (the monkey carcass).

grin this is funny laugh one kill me

Anyhow sha you would have complained if they had burnt him alive, the police are there to protect lives and properties including that of the community. They did the right thing.

Is there an existing law in Anambra protecting this species of monkeys?

Yes, the customary law this man just broke

Is there a codex law in Anambra that states that monkey killing is a crime ?

Highest they can arraign him for is disturbing the peace by contravening the superstitious beliefs and norms of the society .

I will advise him as a client to plead not guilty and from there argue within the lines of seeking sustanance from hunting bushmeat - a guraantteed right to self preservation and sustanance.

Do you consider homosexuality a crime?

The monkey is a wild animal and not someone's pet or property.

In China Pandas are considered national treasure, they are used in peace treaties with countries.

Wild animals can still be considered properties, if you doubt go to the nearest zoo and kill an animal, see if you don't end up in prison
Politics / Re: Man Arrested And Paraded For Killing Monkey In Awka, Anambra State. by danvon(m): 1:09pm On Mar 07

Whose property?

That's a wild creature of nature and not anybody's pet.

You can argue as much as you like but in court, motives are more important than actions

If he knew monkeys are considered sacred in that community and still chose to kill it, that proves he doesn't respect the community he lives in and has no problem hurting the community, which makes him a criminal.

There was no cruelty committed.

He bagged himself some bushmeat which his God given rights guarranttee him to forage to preserve and sustain himself.

If you have a dog or goat and some stranger came to your house and killed it, would you claim "He bagged himself some bushmeat which his God given rights guarranttee him to forage to preserve and sustain himself."

That monkey isn't public property but a wild creature of nature that knows no law , boundary nor sovereign.

Wild creature of nature, yet it has lived in peace with the Indigenes of Awka for centuries.

I've lived in Awka myself and the monkeys mind their business, I rarely saw them.

The monkeys are the property of the Indigenes of Awka, if he was ignorant of the customs, he could plead ignorance, but he was fully aware of the customs and still choose to violate it, this proves contempt and malicious intent towards the Indigenes of Awka, he has the motives of a criminal.

Then they should stop complaining henceforth

Their complains did nothing, if they should violate the Sharia law in the north they would be swiftly dealt with regardless.

This one was not even harmed, despite being fully aware of the customs.

What's sacred about a monkey ?

If so, why do people from this same Anambra always complain about Sharia laws in the north ?

Did their complains revoke Sharia law?

Politics / Re: Defence Academy Attack Mastermind Killed, Military Warns Against Coup by danvon(m): 10:13am On Feb 23
Sometimes trying to prevent something from happening only makes it happen faster...

Let us look at Rome, Julius Caesar was becoming too powerful and many senators feared he was turning the Republic into a Monarchy, so they went and assassinated him...

After Julius Caesar death all his inheritance went to his great nephew Octavius who would use his uncle's wealth to wage war on rome, avenge his uncle and successfully turn the Republic into Monarchy.

Nigerian leaders should be very careful about enacting a self fulfilling prophecy

But yen yen yen, igbo must claim victims with their 2by2 shops.

If people are going on looting spree, you think they target cell phone charger seller, or fanyogo and gala sellers?

Nope they'll target Oba palace and that beautiful Lekki

Imagine caring more about protecting another man's wife and daughter than your own safety, and calling other people simps.

True, Igbos have a serious masculinity complex, they try to compensate for their emasculation by their women, the more emasculated - the more the complex manifest itself.

North is still the best, women on a separate bike, men on a separate bike.

Keep your pride, keep your morality.

A dictator tries to ban those who opposes him.

A politician infiltrates his enemies and use their own strength to destroy them.
