How he manage to smuggle food and drinks into the prison, is something else, is it that the US prison security network is loose, or it's an insider security bridge.

Atleast 50% of the soldiers in Nigeria are Muslims so where would Peter Obi get the soldiers from?

It's more possible for a Muslim Muslim leader to start a religious war than a leader with little power.

Peter Obi would have been another Aguiyi Ironsi, pandering desperately to the North and East until they finally kill him.

Politics / Opinion: Tinubu The Revolutionary? by danvon(m): 10:33am On Jan 26
Everybody in Nigeria wants change for the better, but the problem has always been rooted in the system.

Everybody wants to change the system but the question is "who will bell the cat?"

Changing the system is a risky business, everybody wants change but nobody likes change, a man who tries to change his society would always risk being hated and demonized, only when the fruits of his change have become clear would he be respected (and even then he could still be hated)...

The military leaders in Nigeria understood this very well and the wise ones usually tried not to upset the balance too much, the few that did usually ended up dead...

In China, Mao Zedong really messed up the country with his Cultural Revolution and Great Leap Forward, his predecessor Deng Xiaoping began undoing Mao terrible policies but very delicately made it look like he wasn't changing anything and like he was even promoting Mao's policies.

That brings us to the present, Tinubu is the first democratic leader to make rapid changes in the country in such a short time, from ending subsidy to reforming the police, now shifting CBN...

These are policies that most democratic leaders would never think of, they would talk about it but would never do it, especially in such a rapid pace...

The problem is when people think of a revolutionary, they imagine an unkempt bushy faced man, screaming from the fringes, but when you check leaders who had more impact on their societies they are usually far from this picture...

Tinubu might just be the change Nigeria always wanted but only time would tell.

This is the only part of your response I will reply to, there's only so much energy I can expand to combat blatant falsehood and conflation.

Biafran officers where extremely badly behaved and indisciplined in illegally invaded Benin City. Examples of officers not paying for goods and services, summary execution of locals that dared to appeal (not even complain ó) to them for fairness and other sundry ill treatments abound.

Wilful abduction and rape of locals and general drunken behaviour was a daily occurence. Loutish bragaddocious behaviour, of the likes we still see on Nairaland today was a common thing.

Victor Banjo was having to clear up the mess by personally going to the Ọba and various high Chiefs to apologise and beg on behalf of his Imbecilic soldiers.

You know what the kicker is, all of the above bad behaviour that I have stated was a small thing compared to what happened when the retreating Biafran army passed by Benin again. By this time, there was no principled Victor Banjo to try and help exert some restraint as he had gone ahead of them to meet his maker at the hands of Ojukwu.

As I have said before on this forum, that there are Ndigbo still in Benin City today is a testament to the magnanimity and forgiving spirit of Ovb'ẹdo.

Lol cherry picking, please respond to the other points... They should be responded together

Again if the Midwest saw Biafrans as enemies, what is wrong with the actions of Biafran soldiers?

Muritala and his partner Taiwo would order Asaba Massacre...

Adekunle would order 'shoot anything that moves'

By comparison it seems the Biafrans were very lenient to their 'enemies'.

This kind of factories usually have very very terrible managers, if you work there you would be treated like a piece of shit...

Why? Because they know they can replace you in less than 24 hours, if you get tired and quit there are thousands lining up to take your place.

Firstly, you keep using the word "surprise", it can't be a surprise if the other person can see what's coming. Biafra's slow armoured infantry was no surprise.

Secondly, the Midwest wasn't a neutral zone, it was and still is located in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Biafran army were an uninvited and unwelcome invading force and the amount of issues they caused in Benin City to the native people*, which poor Banjo had to spend time clearing up personally, showed they weren't considered "not enemies".

You are looking to rewrite history, please stop.

*E pa Nowa Omoigui (RIP) has detailed these in a list that is by no means exhaustive.

You seem to be contradicting yourself

If the Midwest wasn't neutral as you claim, then explain what was wrong with the invasion, if Nigeria could attack Biafra why is it wrong to attack Nigeria in turn? If they saw Biafrans as enemies why should Biafra not equally see them and treat them as enemies... The only reason why the invasion of Midwest could be wrong was if they were neutral, in that case Biafra would be invading a neutral people without provocation...

Saying it wasn't a surprise attack would imply that Nigerian officers completely gambled the Midwest...for what exactly? Because they feared Ojukwu?

Explain what you meant by Banjo cleared up? Could you mean backstabbing Biafrans?

You keep going back and forth in your quotes it's not linear.

It is Gaza they are comparing it to

Did Ibadan people blow up and invade anybody? Are they in full support of some violent genocidal militia?

Most of them were living a peaceful and quiet life until happened, only a sick mind would even bring such comparison...

Very watery, the counter coup that dislodged the ibos forever the scheme of things in this country was planned, executed and sealed by muritala. He then installed Gowon.....take it or leave it Muritala brought the ibo ruling class to it's kneels permanently. If the was the military head during the war he would have sank biafra and everything attached to it in the bottom of the ocean.

Muritala Mohammed was the chief of signals based in Lagos, Ty Danjuma was Aguiyi Ironsi scribe and a member of Aguiyi Ironsi personal guard, it is not a sign of genius to kill someone who actually trusted you and placed you in a very key position, it doesn't require bravery or skill to kill disarmed officers knowing fully well you surround them 100 to 1...

wickedness doesn't equal tactics or strategy...

When actual war came, Officers like Obasanjo and Colonel Shuwa who tried to prevent bloodshed actual performed far better as war leaders than the likes of Muritala Mohammed.

If he was the leader there would have been far less support for Nigeria

Stop this delusional argument,Gowon was a moderate officer who didn't want war and that was why he issued a police arrest for Ojukwu despite the fact that Ojukwu had started ransacking and looting government properties. If Muritala was the presidential when the war broke out, trust me he would have dropped a bomb or two and the war wouldn't linger. Mercenaries are mercenaries even if it is just a white skinned cripple. Is it not the same military that sank you ipob dolts in muddy waters and your likes couldn't do jack. You guys are pathological liars.

Muritala Mohammed was actually mercilessly defeated at Onitsha invasion, if he was the president Biafra would have won, (Britain would not even support Nigeria) Gowon would rule Nigeria for 9 years whereas Muritala would rule for 6 months that tells you a lot.

A mercenary can never ever be compared with an actual professional soldier, mercenaries fight purely for money therefore when they fight they don't fight to die, they only fight against weaker does.

A surprise attack with tanks and lorries trundling down minor roads from Benin to Lagos, remember the Lagos Benin Expressway didn't exist then, this is the surprise Biafra were planning àbi?

Even when Biafra illegally invaded Benin City, it was no surprise to anyone. It only happened successfully because Gowon deliberately demilitarised The Midwest region to avoid it being seen as provocative to Ojukwu coupled with concerns that Anioma officers were sympathetic to Biafra and any weapons would quickly and easily fall into the wrong hands.

Ojukwu wanted Banjo to proceed to Lagos immediately without properly securing Benin City, why would Banjo proceed with an enemy in front and behind?

Saying Gowon demilitarized the Midwest would imply they had weapons in the first place, most of the weapons were fully concentrated in Lagos and by extent in the hands of Northerners...

Gowon main expectation was a swift surrender of Biafra he didn't expect an attack on Lagos because it was a bad move politically and he expected Ojukwu to do everything to regain his lost capital Enugu, the attack on Lagos was a surprise attack...

The Midwest was a neutral region therefore they weren't really enemies and they wouldn't have given Banjo much trouble if he chose to attack Lagos, only he halted too long, squandering all the elements of surprise.

Lagos was the capital of where? Biafra? Tell yourself the truth. Were you looking to capture Nigeria and Biafra? You had Biafra but still wanted Capital of Nigeria? Tell yourself the truth. It was at the moment you wanted too much you lost everything. Tell yourself the truth.

So how did Banjo mess up everything?

Nigeria struck first, Nigeria struck the capital of Biafra which was Enugu (which was a good decision) Ojukwu had only one chance to reverse the tide and that was if he could capture Lagos the capital of Nigeria in a surprise attack, from a political point of view it was a bad idea from a pressured military point of view it was genius, the only issue was who would lead the campaign, most of the officers in the east were inexperienced the experienced ones were killed in the pogroms, the only experienced officers he had were those who participated in the January coup (the coup he helped to stop) so obviously they weren't on good terms, plus coup plotters can't be trusted they are inherently disloyal ....

so he picked Banjo because he was Yoruba which was good for politics, next he had experience, thirdly he wasn't directly implicated in the coup, picking Banjo showed how detribalized Ojukwu was...

but Banjo had moves of his own, he intentionally delayed the Lagos attack, losing all the element of surprise, also arrested several Biafran soldiers while giving Nigeria just enough time to plan a ruthless counter attack... Eventually Banjo, Ifeajuna and Ojukwu's brother in law would be sentenced to death.

Despite the impartiality of the verdict you guys still try to bring tribalism involved, if Ojukwu could sentence his own brother in law who was working with Banjo, what makes you think Banjo was so innocent.

How could Yorubas have stayed away? A Yoruba man was already helping you to win the war. Remember? It was his choice though but you chose to kill him.

Secondly after winning the war so far, you came down to Ore. You were winning the war and eventually stepping beyond the borders Biafra. Was Ore part of Biafra land? Is Yoruba land now on the map of Biafra? Your greed made you to lose the war. The blood of Victor Banjo who you killed after helping you to win the war cried out to make you lose the war. it's now so obvious that you Igbos will always be ingrates.

Lagos was the capital of Nigeria back then, always strike at the capital, Nigeria struck first at Enugu.

Attacking Lagos might be a bad political move but it was a good military move... Until Banjo messed up everything.

A Yoruba man was winning the war for Biafra in Victor Banjo against a fellow Yoruba man in Adekunle Fajuyi. However,Ojukwu killed Victor Banjo not because Banjo betrayed Ojukwu but because Banjo suggested to Ojukwu that Ojukwu should appoint someone from Benin/Bendel to be administrator of Benin/Bendel as against the Igbo man Ojukwu appointed for the position notwithstanding the fact it was Victor Banjo that captured this places for Biafra. The blood of Victor Banjo will never let Biafra see the light of the day. Biafra is gone forever.

Banjo also arrested several Biafran soldiers who were then killed by the invading Nigerian forces.

The same Obasanjo supported Peter Obi and his people condemned him for that.

So it's safe to say Obasanjo doesn't represent Yoruba tribe, FFK even called him an Igbo man.

He forgot to mention the series of event that made Obasanjo placed there to begin with

A Yoruba man "Adekunle" despite his ruthless tactics superior manpower and superior weapons could never capture owerri and he even ended up losing owerri, so Gowon reasonably replaced him with a more cool headed Yoruba man.

Politics / Re: Lagos Demolition And Igbo Community: Matters Arising by danvon(m): 8:10pm On Dec 17, 2023
You need to understand that Yorubas are one of the most sophisticated and educated tribe in Nigeria (atleast at the higher level) and this is more true in Lagos.

The way educated people oppress is very very different from how light minded people oppress, light minded people will make it super obvious they are oppressing you but sophisticated people act differently they can oppress you and you won't even know your being oppressed, you might even think they are kind to you.

Lagos state government will obviously not say they are demolishing Igbo properties (they are too smart for that) instead will claim they are demolishing illegal properties...

But 'illegal' fully depends on who is in power, alcohol can be illegal or legal depending on the decision by those in power.

In conclusion they are demolishing illegal properties but those properties have been in Lagos for atleast a decade why did they suddenly become illegal and why the swift urgency without much time to demolish it?

I'm not religious but spiritual. I'm enlightened enough to tow that path.

That said, Christianity also had its time where radicalism was the order of the day. The history is well documented. Just because we didn't live in that era doesn't mean we shouldn't acknowledge it. The African slave trade, The Dark Ages, The Spanish Inquisition, ati be be lo were all Christian projects. In a few thousand years, I believe the radicalism of Islam would have toned down. There are many Islamic Republics that are slowly changing their laws. It's just sad to be alive in this generation of unending violence. Islam is still the fastest growing religion and I believe this spread will allow for liberalism in the long run.

Keep justifying nonsense, 500 years ago Christian radicalization is equal to the daily Islamic terrorism which hasn't changed form in the slightest.
