sexkillz: Pray tell, how constructive is calling him a retardeen?

For the avoidance of doubt, I'm neutral to politics, and I've never voted anyone in my life so this isn't out of misplaced emotions but out of what is right. You call him a retardeen, someone quotes you and calls you dumb. Why on earth should you pick offence? They were both insults!

sexkills,

This rule should then apply to all public figures and position holders in all aspects of life.

Including, the Opposition, Pastors, Atheists, public speakers, boko haram spokesmen, Pdp office holders, Apc office holder, religious and non-religious office holders, Obama, Morsi and an endless list.

Applying this rule to Jonathan alone negates your claim of neutrality! (Not that I accuse you of doing that)

It must be applied to all other spectrum of life, as adherents to the subject matter would feel aggrieved when others insult their plulic figures or ideals.

sexkillz: So because I'm against insulting public office holders on Nairaland, my knowledge of politics is limited? I can see how great your knowledge is, since all you do is insult a sitting president from the comfort of your home. There is something called constructive criticism, but I doubt that with all the knowledge in politics you have, you still do not have the knowledge of criticising constructively, so all you do is insult.

Before you insult someone in a position you are not, for taking an action you do not like, you suggest a better way it would have been done. But I guess it's easier to be insulting and uncouth, than to reason and be civil.

You call him a retardeen, but you report anyone who quotes your retardeen comments and calls you a mumu. How nice.

If I was to follow your analogy, oh great and knowledgeable one, shouldn't you as well be ready to endure insults from others since you have publicly made yourself the chief whip of public office holders on Nairaland? Why are you so quick to report them? How long do you really think this back and forth nonsense would go on?

What may be 'constructive criticism' to some is insult to others. Which yardstick do we use in deciding what is constructive or not?

Yours? undecided

I reiterate;
dare2think: Why then should you and your church be worried about other people's mode of dressing and threatening them with hell??

Shouldn't your concern be being 'born again'?

OLAADEGBU: This evangelist who is a member of Benson Idahosa's church, (God's Mission) is recommending Deeper Life's way of dressing to make heaven.
But the evangelist's way of dressing in the video is too exposed for a child of God. The design on her dress and her exposed flesh is unbeffiting. She is in no position to 'recommend' any mode of dressing as I find her dressing too worldly.

Christianity EtcRe: Can You Kill For God To Prove Your Faith? by dare2think: 1:07pm On Jul 07, 2013
Wahala90: Most people will always try to use their human senses or perception to judge or criticize the things of God. They may seem right or even appear like intellects in their judgement but they cannot change God or stop Him. God is God. He is the maker and owner of every life. Therefore, you cannot question Him for taking what belongs to Him, whether directly or He asks someone to do so. What we know is that He is righteous in His deeds. Moreover, He knows His Sheep and they know His voice.
Just the way Boko haram listens to God and slaughters children and innocent people.

Remember, they too know his voice.

I explained why your posts sounded xenophobic. I am not attacking your person and did not call you xenophobic.Perhaps, you are not aware of how your posts sound.

Just thought I should highlight my observations to you.

Moni Cheeks

I keep noticing from your post words like 'outsider', 'leave' and 'go back home'. The xenophobic nature compounded in your posts makes your point, though salient, feels like an ulterior motive is being on show

Rhetorics like these reminds one of the early days of Hitler in Power, words like yours were used everyday to persecute the jews.

Just saying!

If he does not get another 8 match ban though. wink
Foreign AffairsRe: Egyptian Army Overthrows President Morsi by dare2think: 11:39pm On Jul 03, 2013
Well, I feel 17 mill Egyptians know what's good for them, they live there and more importantly they seem to be happy with the outcome.

The best way for this to settle well is to reach out to all political factions, including the MB. A swift election would be necessary.
Foreign AffairsRe: Egyptian Army Overthrows President Morsi by dare2think: 11:29pm On Jul 03, 2013
tbaba1234: I would argue that the problem seems to be the pace of implementation and the hard line stance of government.
Hence the reason that I stated 'part' in my post. I believe Egyptians wanted a secular constitution, if not why would Morsi feel the need to bully his way to form a new constitution.
Foreign AffairsRe: Egyptian Army Overthrows President Morsi by dare2think: 11:25pm On Jul 03, 2013
Ola one: Why are you arguing like this? Even primary school kids know this.

I give up
If you call that arguing, you probably should join me in primary school.

I disagreed and stated my notion. Debunk it or keep mute.
Foreign AffairsRe: Egyptian Army Overthrows President Morsi by dare2think: 11:19pm On Jul 03, 2013
tbaba1234: ^ If you took a poll, most egyptians would support the sharia, that is why the MB won in the first place.
I humbly dis-agree, it is well known that anti-Islamic constitution is part of the factor behind the protest.

Ola one: She does wield enormous power. But, she is not in charge.

Even Thatcher rubbished her in the ''80s because of apartheid in South Africa.
And how many rubbished the same Thatcher.

Rubbishing someone does not undermine anybody, except in a dictatorship.
Foreign AffairsRe: Egyptian Army Overthrows President Morsi by dare2think: 10:58pm On Jul 03, 2013
politician: according to this logic

iran model involves a supremos ayatoullah as nec chairman...

the egypt model includes the army as Part of the oppositions, and protests as a method of impeaching a constitutional elected official!!

morsi lost his political legitimacy by alienating the people.

after the spring, the average citizen just wanted to have a say.

the opposition goofed, an OJORO announcement of his impeachment via the 20million signatures would have irked morsi.
he would call their bluff and the military can come in.

the issue would be.. army removes morsi after refusing to vacate office, not this coup.
its a bad preceedent, and just Like the spring, it might spread to other countries.
lol.

I agree, it is a bad precedent. Egypt is in trouble, I reckon anyway. However, if handled well, it may turn out well in the end.

I doubt it though.
Foreign AffairsRe: Egyptian Army Overthrows President Morsi by dare2think: 10:55pm On Jul 03, 2013
Ola one: Ceremonial, man. Come off this, man.
Be that as it may, you still can not undermine the enormous power she controls unconstitutionally.

Let us not digress.

Legitimacy is key.
Foreign AffairsRe: Egyptian Army Overthrows President Morsi by dare2think: 10:49pm On Jul 03, 2013
Ola one: Yes and yes again.
I bet millions of Brits disagree.

David Cameron had to ask the Queen for permission to lead HER country.
Foreign AffairsRe: Egyptian Army Overthrows President Morsi by dare2think: 10:46pm On Jul 03, 2013
Prof Corruption: I had a good laugh.

As long as there is regular free, fair and credible election, democracy has been defined more than 60%. The rest are just peculiarities of the environment where such democracy is being practiced.
Some will argue that as long as people stand in front of a ballot box, it qualifies as a democracy.

That's how some African leaders manage to stay in power for decades.

Manipulation due to lack of proper definition.
Foreign AffairsRe: Egyptian Army Overthrows President Morsi by dare2think: 10:42pm On Jul 03, 2013
Ola one: In democracy, the elected are the most powerful. And, remember, I put "true" in inverted comma.
Is David Cameron more powerful than the Queen of England?

Yes or No
Foreign AffairsRe: Egyptian Army Overthrows President Morsi by dare2think: 10:40pm On Jul 03, 2013
Ola one: So having a supreme leader who wields even more power than elected leaders is okay and fundamental to democratic norms?
That is my point with you, democratic norms vary from country to country. Iran still possess some basic elements of democracy, I.e people will vote for a candidate of their choice etc. Hence, it can still be classified, subjectively, as a democracy, regardless of the Supreme Ayatollah.

America called itself a democracy in a period when black people were not allowed to vote. There is no proper, universally accepted definition of a democracy.
Foreign AffairsRe: Egyptian Army Overthrows President Morsi by dare2think: 10:32pm On Jul 03, 2013
Ola one: You think Iran is a 'true' democracy? Where they have a supreme leader?
There is no such thing as 'true democracy', each country forge their type of democracy. If Iranians call theirs a democracy, another country can't challenge it

Example: Some 18 yr olds can vote in some democracies and some can't in others.
Foreign AffairsRe: Egyptian Army Overthrows President Morsi by dare2think: 10:27pm On Jul 03, 2013
tbaba1234: Popularity polls change. The fact that a leader is not popular in his first year in office does not mean he will not get better.

I sincerely think egyptians got this one wrong, this stop-start approach does not help the country.
I somewhat disagree. The new leader had started showing traces of the old deposed one. He was showing traces of tyranny under the guise of democracy. The Egyptians refused to be fooled and docile.

To add fire to explosion, he started leaning towards 'Islamification' of the constitution. The military had to get involved, millions on the streets already, the situation could easily transform to Syria.

He lost legitimacy. In politics, under any type of leadership, be it democracy or authoritarian or Monarchy, you lose legitimacy, you lose power.

He is lucky he is still alive. If this happened in the 70s or 80s, his body would have been paraded at the back of a military wagon.
