so who is responsible for the welfare of your church and your pastor who does full-time? huh?
then in africa especially nigeria where the issue of "gifts" is a bit ambiguous - how do you know the pastor's fleet of cars were not bought by one of the members of the church? why is it that the moment nigerians see someone doing well - the person must be committing one crime or the other?
You actually did not answer my question.

While I agree with your statement about the wrong perception attributed to doing well,  you might also add that it is the very same Nigerians that abused their positions of power that causes that attribution.

It is wrong to manipulate the Bible to enrich yourself whilst deceiving others- It is called Fraud.   Tithing is a personal thing and should be left to the individual. But most folks against it here are practically against the "Men of God" that abuses that privilegde

You can choose to keep quiet about the mis-hap going on in Christianity or Religion, but dont expect others to. Also, dont resort to insults or degoratory remarks because  people hold different views to yours. It's a vast world and nobody knows it all (Including "mEN OF gOD"wink

By the way, the ability to conjure insults does not make you cool or gives you an articulated leverage in debates.

don't mind the hypocrites. . . . . .and yet we sometimes wonder why nigeria has remained stagnant for decades. . . .

pay your tithe and stop thinking about what it's being done with it. i do not care if my tithe fuels the pastor's fleet of cars. i have done my share - whatever happens to my tithe is no longer my worry - it's the pastor's burden. no one is forcing anyone to pay tithes - if you don't feel like it. . .take your money to viewing centres and whorehouses and do whatever pleases you with it - but don't force your satanic opinion on others.

in my opinion, i think religious houses should have a pact with the state/federal government. religious houses play a role in the society. they form a substantial factor in the mental, cultural, educational and social infrastructure of the community. they foster value consciousness and offers a condition for a democratic state which the state itself cannot provide. for instance, the church forms an investment in ethical values, sense of life and peace.

it is only fair if these religious houses are financed by taxes. i believe there should be a church tax in nigeria for all christians. maybe by then, people will no longer take tithing for granted!
How is their opinion satanic?.(Just because it is different from yours).
You sound very bigoted.

So, if your Pastor is evidently squandering the congregation funds people should turn a blind eye and leave him to God?  And you wonder why Nigeria is in this state?
If you dont' fight corruption (even in Churches), you think God will come down and do it for you?  When was the Last time God came down to fight Human battles for them ?
Christianity EtcRe: "Why Evangelicals Should Stop Evangelizing" by dare2think: 6:53pm On Jul 27, 2011
I wonder why religion has to be this complicated.

One would have thought, just believe and hold on to your faith whilst respecting other people's faith as you would expect them to respect yours.

Man, just has a way of complicating simple things. Hence, they differ in some many aspects regarding the same faith whilst trying to prove the illegitimacy of another faith.

Man is confused and hypocritical. Man created the idea of dogmatic religion.

Faith is of the mind and it's beholder is it's creator.

The BIBLE made a vivid declaration in Hebrew 7:7 “And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better.” People who understand this principle do everything to tap into the anointed MOG.

Abraham knew this and gave tithe to Melchizedek in Genesis 14:20 and by reason of that encounter, GOD visited him after. Is it not an irony that SOME sons of perdition and belial in this forum are saying all sort of rubbish against some MOG, while some people are planting seeds of money and expensive vehicles into the lives of these MOG.
Are those now what Christianity is about??  "expensive vehicles" into the lives of a MOG. Really?  What about the poor, the sick,the  less- previlegde, the hungry children, and the widows, the fatherless. poor family members and so on

You are talking about expensive cars for Men that claim to speak to God.

Very shameful.

Classic Nollywood Script.

Ms Potato,

Pls can I ask why you keep emphasizing on the "black booty" when refering to mukina? I am aware that you are both trading insults, but I have to admit yours come with little hints of "racism".

Clearly you are on the wrong in this situation (Topic), and you have done the right thing by apologizing. But you then overode the humility in that apology by progressing in insulting another person.  You should have just apologized (the right thing) and then moved on (the sensible thing), rather than escalating an already volatile situation.

You are either very young (in age or in mind), very proud or an attention seeker as others have indicated. (Pls do not be offended, its just my candid observation)

Pls refrain from racist connotations, it does not look well on you (especially as you have a Nigerian BF). I'm sure you are aware of the funny contradiction.

How can you ascertain that they are God's vision?

I am genuinely asking as I want further enlightenment on this inspiration.

Indeed.
Christianity EtcRe: Christ Embassy's Yookos Vs Mark Zuckerberg's Facebook by dare2think: 6:32pm On Jul 18, 2011
Mr Austinobee,

Sorry, but I disagree with some statments in your post. Some discrepancies I find really disturbing.

1. You said;
austinobee:
I am an SEO specialist so I know enough about traffic site ranking and popularity.
Pls what parametres did you use in ascertaining your statment;

austinobee:
I would have you know that the first version of yookos was shut down because of the volume of traffic (visitors) that greeted it in less than three months, hence a new yookos (yookos 2)
2. You said;
austinobee:
Firstly a website owner would only submit his site to a site that specializes in ranking (like ALEXA.COM) when they are interested in selling traffic ar adverts on their sites. So if my site is not on ALEXA or any of such, it doesn't mean it is less popular than the ones there.
So, who sumbiited yookos to them?

http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/yookos.com#

Then you went on to say;

austinobee:
Yookos, while being a social networking site, is poised to be more than that. Its aim is to present the world to you at the click of a mouse button and as such cannot be classified amongst sites that are involved in popularity contests.
Am sure  by now you are well aware of the contradiction there, as yookos.com is included in the list of  "popularity" contest websites, as of my writing ranked #79,049.

3. While I agree with;

austinobee:
Secondly, ranking on ALEXA and co is performed based on traffic data over period of time in existence, so their criteria is not robust enough to judge yookos.com which is barely seven months.
I feel your statement ;
austinobee:
Yookos is in a class of its own don't mention it in the same breath as facebook.
makes your claim on being  a "SEO specialist" highly suspect and disturbing. Love your optimism though. You are right right on one thing though, Yookos and facebook are not on the same breath. Facebook is number 2 whilst Yookos is number 79,049. A very deep breath indeed.

There is nothing wrong in asking people about the "strange " behaviour you feel your husband shows. But please be very discerning when listening to opinions regarding personal matters on the internet.

There are loads of bitter people in the world and they thrive on other people's misery. Instead of offering you constructive advice, they''ll snide and divert the purpose of your post. Such is the nature of retrogressive minds

@ Topic

Talk to your Man, tell him your worries. He'll probably give you his reasons and put your mind to rest. I also agree with (Ileke idi's assertions). Have fun.

Christianity EtcRe: What Is Your Take On Being Dogmatic? by dare2think: 12:16pm On Jul 13, 2011
Being dogmatic is , in my opinion, a psychological defence mechanism portrayed by an individual or group in order to hide the acknowledgement of the "incoherent nature" of the respective doctrine.

Some are not aware of their portrayal of these mechanism, but there Leaders (i.e "MOG") are fully aware of the incoherent Nature but would rather propagate dogma rather than acknowledge the "incoherent nature", due to selfish motives. (Ego, Finance, Power etc)

Your giving determines your blessing and how far you will go
It works, even for unbelievers, it's a ( let me borrow your words) principle, a law
Mrs Mabell, I'm sorry but maybe that is what your Pastor told you,

But if it is my "Giving" that triggers God's blessing on me and not God's love for me, then it is fair to say that  that Pastor is Fraudulent.

A pastor is a Person too, and if in need you give to him then it is fair,

But if you give him, especally if he does not need it or there are people you know in worse situations, for the purpose of receiving blessing (even if you stole the money) , then both you and that pastor are deceiving yourselves.

@ ALL;

What an interesting thread. Please be informed that Believing is a choice. Also, when you see the word WICKED, SINNER in the bible, it does not connote the deeds of a man. It refers to the unbelieving nature.
Really? , Wicked and sinner does not "connote" the deeds of a man?

So, if the deeds of the man includes Murder, Fornicating, Molesting and so on. All that does not matter because they have a "believing nature".

Seriously?.  So, a muslim or  Buddhist or a Non- Christian are all "Wicked and Sinners" simply because they do not choose to believe what you believe.

Of course, it's people like you that would fill the churches of Fraudsters.

Are you serious?

Why are you using negative connotations when addressing non-Christians?   Did I mention "Wicked" in my post? Because someone is not a Christian, does that make the individual a wicked person?

Are Christians better than the individuals that I mentioned?

Yes it Matters, If these individual can prosper without giving to a Pastor? Why should't a Christian prosper?

Is it every Christian that gives to Pastors? Don't some of them still not prosper?

Stop deceiving yourself and other gullible ones. Before Christianity came to our Lands, were there no Prosperous individuals?

Are there not still wretched people still giving to the pastors, yet still poor by all standards? Do thousands of people still not manage themselves in your Church? Are they all prosperous?

With all the Churches in Nigeria, Is the Country still not a corrupt and poor society? With a large disparity between the rich and the poor.

I wonder why you are attacking another person's religion.

Did Jesus tell you to do that? Do you only want a Christian world?

Are you aware of the diversity of this world?

Intolerance breeds hatred, which is bad in any religion.

C'mon man, is Christian world perfect? It's ok to disagree on opinions but attacking another Man's religion is contradictory to a religion that preaches Love.

Lol.

Ok I see  you set out to ask "funny" questions, cool I will be truthful and reply you accurately, I only beg that you return the accuracy and truthfulness when I return my questions.

How many do I know "personally"?

None. I read about them and I take time to listen to some of them, so I draw my conclusions from those two elements just like the rest of us. Listening and reading.

How do they exceed reason of necessity?

Most exceed these aspect. How do I know?

Chris Okotie-----He contested and lost Nigerian presidential elections for the third time this year under the Fresh Party, a political party he founded and funds. An automobile lover, he owns a Mercedes S600, Hummer and Porsche among several others.

Chris Oyakhilome---Oyakhilome’s diversified interests include newspapers, magazines, a local television station, a record label, satellite TV, hotels and extensive real estate

Creflo Doller----He has been criticized for his lavish lifestyle as he owns two Rolls-Royces, a private jet, a million dollar home in Atlanta, and a 2.5 million dollar home in Manhattan.

Oyedepo----really??

        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creflo_Dollar

@ Joagbaje
So, my questions.

Do you know any of these individuals personally?

If I start a church today, does that qualify me as a Man of God?

Is it right that men that get their money/wages or financial aid from the mechanism of the church, be wealthier  than the average member of congregation that contributes towards the development of that church?

If these churches are meant to make impact on the lives of the members, why is it that members of that same church experience the same aspect of life like any other person that do not attend the church.( They still experience poverty, sickness, fornication, death, wealth, good health, life in general)?
Christianity EtcRe: Is the gospel free or costly? . How Do You See It? by dare2think: 1:56pm On Jul 02, 2011
Extravagant-

a : exceeding the limits of reason or necessity
b : lacking in moderation, balance, and restraint

Lifestyle-
: the typical way of life of an individual, group, or culture
