@osoisi

Dull assumption?  i think it's you whooneeds to clean your eyes( and possibly your brain too), no offence intended.

We all saw how the NN24 guys grilled the candidates. They were all shook as the moderator was merciless and handled the debate without apparent agenda. Pls compare that to this  "stupidity" we have just witnessed.

No questions on how to handle the level of corruption?? one of the main diseases of the country. No proper assertions from the moderator.

Pls who needs glasses? pheww undecided i worry for humanity
PoliticsRe: BON/NEDG Vice-Presidential Debate: Official Thread by dare2think: 9:08pm On Mar 28, 2011
@ those blaming the other's for not participating:

You are part of the stagnant growth in Nigeria if you justify this charade called a "debate". The first debate was snubbed by PDP because they could not influence the organisers, for you to now say the other parties should have attended this farce is disappointing. Every sensible person that watched this SHAM must aknowlegde that it has the imprints of PDP written over it.

@solajacobs
Shame on you for your choice  to reason with bais. With people like you still in large volumes supporting a corrupt party LIITLE wonder why Nigerian politics is regressive.

@ sensible fellows
These "debate" is an insult to our intelligence and i don't blame the dignified opposition members for not attending. For them to attend this ridicule would be a stain on their integrity and i would like to think proper HONORABLE men would not partake in such stupidity.
Christianity EtcRe: Will The Gates Of Heaven Have A Sign Saying Christians Only! by dare2think: 12:52am On Mar 26, 2011
@ Mowire

Pls enlighten me as to what is wrong with non-xtains. Why can't you be considerate and be real that not everybody is Christian. That is the reality of the world. Their are others that actively believe their respective faiths without criticizing the Christian faith (Am not saying you criticise other faiths) but you saying "pitying non-xtains" is only close mindedness and an exaggerated sense of self-worth.

@2BUFF
I appreciate your divine dedication to what you believe in and it's highly respectable. But pls be aware that there is a vast array of cultures and heritages around the world. And they all have there beliefs,they too, and their beliefs, must be respected. You can't impose your beliefs on other ppl (am not saying you do) because it raises a lot of emotions and animosity  hence a lot of violence with religious sentiments. If someone don't belief in God/Jesus/Allah/Mohammed/hindu/sango/oya/ or whatever, so be it. It is the content of our character that matters the most, to man and to God.

PLEASE LETS REFRAIN FROM THE HOLIER THAN THOU SENTIMENTS. JUST TREAT YOURSELF AND YOUR NEIGHBOUR WELL.
Christianity EtcRe: Will The Gates Of Heaven Have A Sign Saying Christians Only! by dare2think: 8:37pm On Mar 24, 2011
I think it is unfair to other religions and people who don't belief in religion to make an assertion that the only road to heaven is to Jesus. So what about the other's that have not heard about Jesus? Pls lets be open-minded here. There are billions of people who go about their business and practrice their own doctrine, Good people who never hurt no one, so why should the road to heaven be closed to them.Is that not descrimination.

Why should we say heaven is for those that has an affiliaton with christ. What about the poor Hindu woman in an Indian village, or the Buddist monk in china, or the muslim brother in Iraq, or the atheist in finland. Why should they be condemned based on their beliefs. It is un-fair and if that is the direction of reasoning amongst us christians then it's really sad and selfish.

We should be judged on the content of our character and actions and not on the label of our religion. Anything otherwise is a contradiction of all the religious doctrines put together. Thank God we wont be jugded by man after seeing some of these comments sad
Christianity EtcRe: The Jerusalem Shopkeeper's Assertion: What Really (matters In) Religion. by dare2think: 7:37pm On Mar 24, 2011
By far the most sensible thread on the religious section,

I must admit Dulcet7, your post has just confirmed to me that i am not alone in the quest for more understanding in the aspect of religion. I am a very sound critique of the theological institutions present in the world as they seem to contradict the very purpose of thier Goals. I am just coming to terms that i might have some agnostic Tendencies but i still believe in the teachings of Jesus. Would i have believed in his teachings if i were born in Saudi Arabia? I don't know, this is what confuses me the most. A certain religion can not have a claim of omni-presence as religion is largely based on the geographical location of the practitioner. It is a conflicting logic to an "idea" that a certain prophet has come on behalf of all Humanity. How many bhuddists are in africa?

@ sweetnecta
 you talk about the prophet being the last messenger of the undiluted truth to the world. I know very little about islam and it's doctrines but lets say as i go home tonight something horrible happens to me and i happen to pass away, am i supposed to to be confined to dine with satan even having little knowledge about the "undiluted truth". Is it going to be my fault.

@vescussi

i like the mountain analogy, but i feel since human biengs are in charge of religion and humans are known for not being perfect, i feel religion has been diluted and used for several means that the main objective is no longer clear. Yet, every religious leader is still diluting and interpreting their own versions ofthe doctrines to us.Afterall, how many of us has God spoken to?
Christianity EtcRe: The Religion Dilemma! by dare2think(op): 5:59pm On Mar 24, 2011
my dear mowire

what is the purpose of my post? I have only asked rhetorical questions in which bothers my mind. It is for people to research into their souls and make a constructive critique of the present theological institutions. Please stop assuming everyone would look at situations from a Christian point of view as it is only one of many religions. It's very educative to have an open mind and see how things are seen in the eyes of the average being.

I am not against religion. I only feel we should monitor some aspects and question some of deeds of the "MOG" who gives us their own interpretation of the Holy Book. Please forgive me for not believing some words that come from the mouth of a fellow human being who claims that God has spoken to him. Mowire, why can't God speak to Me OR You?

Somebody (a christain) said what happened in Japan was because the country deserves it. embarassed So the innocent babies and people deserved to be dead. For what reason though? How am i or you or anyone better than them. Why must these religious leaders feed people dogmatic nonsense.

So mr "intelligent" Reno, you must feel you are talking sense NOW. you talk about lOGic and sense but am afraid those qualities are missing in your acclaimed intellectaul capacity. What does the origin of the tv station have to do with a presidential aspirant missing from a debate? How come the other three main parties still honoured the Nigerians' need FOR representation.

"For those who may not know, NN24 is completely and totally hosted by DSTV. DSTV's content is under the control of the South African Broadcasting Commission (SABC). Having our Presidential debate under the NN24 banner means subjecting Nigeria to the control of a foreign power. There MUST be a debate, but such a debate must be hosted and controlled by stations that are subject to no other control than a statutory Nigerian body"

Are you for real? Did we not see how the moderator grilled those guys and made them talk garbage (excluding the sekarau), who was well composed on his part. dstv/south africa/ western control ,what did that have to do with Gej missing. Is he now too special even having not won the election yet? How much have they given you for you to now abuse our intelligence? Shame on you. NIGERIANS ARE SMARTER THAN THAT.

@everybody,

Pls lets imagine all these guys in power, and u get a green card to live in America. Which of these guys government would you risk staying in Nigeria for. Pls no sentiments and be really honest.

Personally, i would stay in a buhari government. Though the guy did not talk much but you must admit, pdp looters would be really shiiiting their pants at the prospects of this guy winning. He sounds like someone that would have obasanjo declaring his wealth.

Sheakarua is very articulate but can he handle the godfathers of politics?
Ribadu- empty barrell makes the most noise.
buhari- determined man with a geniune intent to fight corruption.

my vote for buhari- if it were to be based on the debate.
ps- if anybody vote for Gej- You are officially the dumbest person in your family. and if your family votes for him- God help your generation.
PoliticsRe: Nn24 News Presidential Debate In Abuja - Live Images by dare2think: 7:39pm On Mar 18, 2011
Are you now telling me that GEJ, has no time for a debate and he can grant D'banj an interview. What is he scared of? I support no party so nobody should accuse me of bias but that man is not fit to rule. One of the core attributes of a real democracy is the art of debating your opponents, Challenging their ideas and to be open to challenge. The man must be so confident of winning that he can afford not to attend a platform to present his ideas to the Nation while in the midst of the opposition. He is a COWARD. Complete dis-regard to the ppl. its an insult to the thinking Nigerian.

I hope this election would not be rigged. but somehow i feel ppl have too much stake in the status quo of the present government and he might be voted in. Lets not forget their are more un-educated ppl in nigeria with the ability to vote.Hence my favourite quote (read below)

Somehow i wish cpc/acn merge because they might give the existing power real challenge. Pdp is so entrenched in all of the states it would be difficult for other parties to muster a credible presidential challenge. Cpc should not go away in case they lose this election. They should immediately start doing some groundworks in all states bcoz come 4yrs time this Gej do would not accomplish shiit like all the previous guys.
Christianity EtcThe Religion Dilemma! by dare2think(op): 9:37pm On Mar 17, 2011
As a christian i am aware of certain aspects of the religion but i know nobody knows it all. The Bible is a testament to that fact as it was written by several men. But i like to think of myself as a person who thinks., therefore i question a lot of issues concerning Religion and christianity.
Firstly i love Jesus Christ. The guy was humble and died for what he believed in. His teachings are powerful and full of love and compassion.  When i read or see or what people do now and align it with christianity, i really wonder.
But what is christianity?. I believe the definition depends on the individual. But the consensus would be to follow the teachings of christ. I for one would not claim to be adept in the bible in order to ascertain what the teachings of christ is, but i believe it all boils down to being a good person and treating other's equally as yourself.
However as human beings we must not forget that there are several other religion out there that also have the a similar history with that of christ. The Sikhs,The hindu's, different categories of christianity, Judiasm, Islam and 100s more. Now as christians are we to disregard these religions that also have the similar longevity and claims to miracle WITH millions of followers?. Islam for instance has billions of followers and is known for its rigorous adherance to its quran.

Please is the gate of Heaven going to read "for christians only"?. How about all these other wonderful people who never hurt nobody and just practise their religion.  How about our forE father's before the "white man" brought the christian religion?. How about the arabs who were worshiping their many god''s before islam came? What is their stake IN all of these?

It just brings me back to other questions. Do our religious leaders teach us the true essence of faith? How come all the other people (of different faiths) don't get mentioned.

Lastly, The Prosperity crusaders. For all those who wishes to use their heads, have u not noticed that this type of churches thrive in underdeveloped areas where their is so much frustration/angst/depression/poverty/lack of self-belief/education. At what point did the Church become an enterprise where the head has to acquire/given a private jet to ease his/her movements? This would never happen in a developed world. Why do some Nigerian chriStains think they are the ParAgon of spiritualism thereby condescending others. Why can't the rich churches redistribute the wealth back into the community/state/country to ensure people have a better quality of life for Cristians and non christians. Is that not one of the core essences of christianity? Why are they spending so much on TV adverts when there are millions of kids dying of hunger around Africa? Pls somebody ask these MOG'S

WHY ARE WE ALL HYPOCRITES? !!!!
Christianity EtcRe: S’africa Orders Chirst Embassy Church To Stop Faith Healing Ads by dare2think: 7:59pm On Mar 17, 2011
To Those With Senses only

@ UN-Sensible People

Dont you find it strange that a country would ban the Healing of people on Tv. If it were Genuine rather than banning it other countries would instead be rushing to broadcast it on their stationS. Which brings me to another issue. Like somebody said they don't know him in Holland. And i can boldly say nobody knowS him in England except for those that go to his ministries and those that are familiar with him from nigeria( not even 0.00000001%) of the population. And believe me Good news also spread .The dont show this Penticostal sham on normal TV. And do you wanna know y? YOU CAN NEVER DECEIVE ENLIGHTENED PEOPLE.

@Sensible People

We all know this world is massive, and for those of us that have gone to other countries and witnessed other cultures we know it is impossible for this sham to operate in other parts of the world were there is a great degree of accountability and transperency. Sometimes i wonder if these MOG followers even think about the vast array of life and religion in the world. Somebody pls ask and Afghan if he has heard of Nigeria less Pastor Chris.

@ don shegsy

That scripture also say "Do not move from house to house".  and also says "eat and give whatever they give you" How on earth can you translate that to wages. These were people jesus annointed and told to go door to door to minister. He said  to them to EAT and DRINK whatever they were offered. He did not tell them to go there everyday to eat and drink. Why do people always feel the need to manipulate the bible as if the rest of us can't read too. SAD.

@Mabell
Men of God and Children of God are not alike. Men of God lead the children of God. They are shepards while the children of God are the Sheeps. The shepard has a duty to look after and guide the sheeps and not to extort them. Being a minister of God is not an easy calling and its not a luxury calling either. It is a life of humility and devotion. Ofcourse the Pastors has to have wages since they are not working and money is not going to drop from heaven. But the money should be regulated and not abused. So tell me Mabell, what does a pastor need a luxury car for (not to talk of Jets)? when some members can't eat 3 time a day. Is that his/her calling?

@Everyone
    I ate with a friend 2weeks ago. He attends the church of the Pastor Odulele that was found guilty of molestation. He told me the Guy had three Cars and the car plate read "ODULELE 01" "ODULELE02" "ODULELE03" Meanwhile this friend of mind still they jump on london bus and we all know how much a weekly pass cost. So tell me, is that not fraud?

The fact that alot of people go to his church proves nothing. A lot of people can be decieved. Hitler Decieved the whole of germany into believing they are supreme, Pls check out one of Nazi Germany's Rallies, The crowd is enormous. Smart people can feed on the desperation of people reagardless of the their size. If Babagida wishes to hold a rally in the North do  you know how many ppl would attend. Countless.

@ Poster

People have the right to criticize anybody. Why do you elevate your fellow man to the position of God. Only God is untouchable. personally I dont give a poo about the Pope/Adeboye/Chris/Ashimolowo/Oyedepo. Who the hell are you to now say i can't voice my feelings on these individuals. I could be muslim/buddist/hinduist/pagan or wateva. So do my opinion never matter> Man is Man.

@Newmi

I respect your views, but you must respect other ppl's views too. I don't believe  all those miracles on Tv done by Chris. Call me doubting Thomas/ at least Thomas did see the real truth.
As for pastor Chris being popular world wide. I live in UK i can tell you , most ppl have not heard of him talkless of giving a shiit.

The story is true. I think i 1st heard about it from a friend or read it,  i can vaguely remember. But this was taken from the news online.

Penticostal church business is a big Business. So am not surprised someone has gone to pitch it  to investors. It's got a perfect business structure, thats why i find it amusing that only  a few ppl see through the hypocrisy of these properity organisations ( I refuse to call them churches). True churches teach about everything -properity,sex marraige/salvation,family etc. But many emphasis is laid on Salvation. As that is one of the main principle if christianity.
Christianity EtcRe: Does Men Of God Suppose To Be Poor And Beggarly? by dare2think: 7:34pm On Mar 15, 2011
@Fstranger,

the grammer does not matter as long as you can understand his content. English may not be the poster's 1st language. Even if it is, he is only trying to engage in a discussion
and you picking on the grammatical error when this is not an "English language teaching" thread only shows how myopic you are.

@ Poster,

Nobody says Men of God have to be paupers. But a degree of humility is needed when you are leading people in terms of religion. Having flashy cars and Jets does not make sense when you still have member's of the congregation struggling to make ends meet. The duty of the MOG is to be the sherpard of their flock. And Sherpards  must always tend to their flocks. But this MOG'S  seem to tend to themselves. Ashimolowo for instance had a birthday for his wife at the Dorchester hotel in London. That is one of the most expesive hotels in london/world. Common.
Pls where does he get his money from? He is a full time MOG, so technically he is spending the church's money. And what is the Church's money? The money the congregation gives o the church, which may be in form of tithe,blah, blah blah.  TRUE MEN OF GOD STAY HUMBLE BECAUSE THEY KNOW THIER REWARD IS IN HEAVEN AND NOT ON EARTH. wHAT WE HAVE NOW ARE NOT MOG. they are SCAMMERS. Well most of them

Christianity EtcNigerian Man Goes On Dragons Den, Wants Money To Start A Church. by dare2think(op): 6:36pm On Mar 15, 2011
London – A Nigerian entrepreneur has appeared on Dragon’s Den, a reality television programme in which budding entrepreneurs get three minutes to pitch their business ideas to five multi-millionaires willing to invest their own cash.

The eloquent young man who introduced himself as Pastor Jonah, wanted two hundred and fifty thousand pounds to start a new Pentecostal church, and promised returns of 500% within the first three years.

Producers of the series described the recently filmed episode as featuring the most incredible idea ever brought to the show.
They said of the Nigerian entrepreneur, “He was very confident and very smartly dressed in an Armani suit. He was charismatic and extremely knowledgeable of the Bible, and he appeared to have really done his research.”

His opening line was, “Brothers and sister, the Lord has brought me here today to tell you that there is no business like church business.”

In the episode which will air next season, the entrepreneur defends his business case by presenting data gathered from churches in Nigeria where he plans to setup his own church.
In a tense moment when he is being grilled by Theo Paphitis, he asks the Dragons a rhetorical question, “How many of you own private jets?”

“You don’t want to miss this one,” a member of the production crew told us. She however declined to comment on the outcome of the pitch, saying instead, “Let’s just say, the Dragons know a good investment when they see one.”

PoliticsRe: Power Of Incumbency: A Threat To Credible Elections? by dare2think: 10:33pm On Mar 03, 2011
The power of incumbency is a global phenomenom. This includes both credible and non-credible elections. There are several reasons but i'll mention THE MAIN factor i feel is the reason.

Money and Power: Because of the status of the incumbent, he/she has access to money and power/influence. Power/influence is an attraction to lobbyist. In every society the lobbyist are those who control the core mechanisms of the respective area's. For Instance, the Tobbaco company would throw a lot of money to the incumbent to maintain the status quo,Big companies hate drastic changes as it affects their profit margin
.Hence why it is really difficult for a real revolutionary candidate to win an election. Except in a few cases where the incumbent is deeply disliked and the "power that be" cannot influence massive public opinion.

Like i said before Hitler was being defeated with the opposition army coming from all side, yet he still stayed in Berlin and let some of his staff escape, How bad as the guy was, he still stayed albeit -killed himself. But FACT is : Ojukwu ran.
