The one that is dead recently set a record for holding the number 1 song in the world , number 1 movie in the world , and number 1 book in the world all at the same time.

I was surprised to see a little boy who wasn't born saying Michael Jackson was his favorite musician. My guy you no lie at all. Politics › Re: NNPC Refineries Will Never Work Again – Obasanjo by Darkmode64: 7:47am On Apr 27 |
Pojomojo: It’s understandable why former President Olusegun Obasanjo holds such a strong view about Nigeria’s refineries, given his past experience. But saying they will never work again may be too absolute—and perhaps overlooks what is still possible with the right approach.
First, the challenges he listed—poor maintenance, corruption, and outdated capacity—are real. Even Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has admitted the refineries are currently underperforming. However, those problems are not unique to Nigeria, and other countries have successfully revived aging refineries through proper reforms, transparent management, and credible technical partnerships.
Second, the global energy landscape has evolved since Obasanjo’s time in office. While major oil companies like Shell plc may prioritize upstream profits, there are now specialized refinery operators and engineering firms whose business is exactly this—turning around inefficient downstream assets. That’s precisely what NNPC is trying to tap into with its current search for technical partners.
Also, the success of the Nigeria LNG Limited project that Obasanjo referenced actually strengthens the case for reform rather than abandonment. It shows that with the right ownership structure, governance, and private-sector discipline, state-linked energy projects in Nigeria can work.
Then there’s the example of Aliko Dangote’s refinery. While it highlights how efficient private investment can be, it doesn’t necessarily mean public refineries are beyond saving—it simply raises the standard they must meet. Competing may be difficult, but not impossible, especially if the goal is to reduce import dependence and strengthen energy security.
In reality, the question isn’t whether the refineries can ever work again—it’s whether Nigeria is willing to implement the tough structural changes needed to make them work. That includes transparency, accountability, and possibly letting go of full government control.
So rather than writing them off completely, it may be more productive to see this moment as a test: can Nigeria finally fix what has long been broken, or will history repeat itself? So na AI you dey use type comment? Abegi bro |

Nairaland General › Re: Nairalanders, Talk To Me About Nairaland by Darkmode64: 9:42am On Mar 02 |
Mr. Seun, it is very commendable of you, as the founder, to ask users how Nairaland can be made more intuitive. That level of openness to feedback is truly admirable.
As a regular user of Nairaland, I honestly believe there isn’t much that requires improvement at the moment. While some users have suggested that the platform needs a UI overhaul, I respectfully disagree. A complete redesign could temporarily reduce visits, as many long-time users would need time to adjust to a new interface.
Nairaland is primarily an information-based platform, and its simplicity is one of its greatest strengths. The current layout is straightforward, functional, and easy to navigate. I personally know many users aged 60 and above who actively use Nairaland everyday and a major redesign could create unnecessary cognitive overload for them. |

Gadafii: Year 2023,I was faced with the most severe financial scarcity aka Sapa in my life, I was so down and depressed, literally breaking apart from within, but I maintained my outward composure and everlasting steeze, no body knew what was wrong with me, I couldn't ask for help neither could I talked to anyone about it.
While these was going on, I was in final year preparing for exams and writing my project, guys, I honestly considered suîcide, I was so broke there were days I don't even have pure water to drink for more than 24 hours, couldn't afford soap and toothpaste, I was just existing, but I kept showing up everyday, still made people around me laughed and comforted, because that's naturally who I am.
One conviction I had was that, I would not take my own life,if na hunger kpai me that's fine, but say I commit suîcide, never
It was a crazy experience I would never wish in my enemies, in that moment I figured I wouldn't really blame anyone that can't endure and decided to end it all.
Alhamdullilah today, I am still in my recovery phase, but things are way better than then and the future looks bright for me 😎😎😎
If you read to this part and you are currently facing financial scarcity, dépression, etc.. please don't end it, hang on a little bit, the universe is preparing you for something big, stay strong and have faith
As fr the young lady, may your soul rest in peace My hope just renewed after reading this. Thanks chief |

Kobojunkie: 1. Children date too, does that make them capable? Come on now! 🥱🥱🥱
2. Children need caregivers to raise them so they can become capable adults. It's not the children being deadset on having their caregivers to give them these needed training but a responsibility on the part of the caregivers to do this for those children. 🥱🥱
It is however not a wife's place to help regulate the emotions of her husband. That there is indicative of foundational problems in that union that can only be resolved if and when the husband becomes an adult. 🥱🥱
3. A wife should have no hand in helping guide or regulating her husbands emotions for him. One of the signs of maturity is ability to regulate ones own emotions and properly guide oneself into managing emotional energy in the right direction. Being an adult is more than simply meeting set age requirement. 🥱🥱
4. So because she made a mistake in marrying an immature man, she shouldn't them divorce him? What you are telling us is that when you realize you are lost, rather than accept the mistake and then work towards retracing your steps so as to get yourself back on the right track, you will instead continue on on into the wilderness wherever it will take you? 🥱🥱🥱
5. Train another woman's child who happens to be "head over you" because you believe this adult child will one day change to begin pleasing you like children do their mother's, abi? 🥱🥱🥱
6. Wrong! There is no such thing as your deadset husband. Any man who does not realize he has to always put his best foot forward for the women he supposedly loves is a man who does not love that woman but is around her for what he benefits from her. 🥱🥱🥱 People like you on Nairaland always amuse you. If only you can channel the same efforts towards bettering yourself, maybe you'll leave this position you're in. It's always talk talk talk so that they appear somewhat smart. Nothing more. |
