I can hardly wait for the waterworks of tomorrow's game. While Dembele was brilliant against Malaga on Saturday, he sometimes loses the ball cheaply, although we saw less of that on Saturday. But in a high-profile game such as tomorrow's? I'd rather not take that chance. A team like Chelsea would capitalise on lost balls with rapid-fire counter-attacks. The coach should opt for stability instead, as I'm sure he would. Dembele should be brought in later in the game, preferably when the momentum is high—probably when we are one goal up or mounting heavy pressure on Chelsea. All said and done, I think he (Dembele) is a much more disciplined player than Neymar and, considering the age difference, has the potential to be four times the footballer that Neymar is, if appropriately nurtured. Neymar typifies the man who went in search of the proverbial greener pastures, while being completely ignorant of the fact that the grass is always greener on the other side. I hope his eyes have finally cleared now? 7 Likes |
Religion / Re: List Of Gods Born By A Virgin On 25th December by DarkRebel69: 6:36pm On Dec 28, 2017 |
Jesus was born in CE 300? I want to believe that was a honest mistake. Another thing, Zarathustra was not an Indian god. Zarathustra was an Iranian (Persian) prophet, founder of Zoroastrianism, and purportedly the founder of the astrology-based "Mysteries of Mithras" (Mithraism), which was the prevalent mystery religion during the 2nd-4th century CE Byzantine Empire. (The name "Zarathustra is what we know in its anglicised iteration “Zoroaster”) And, I think the birthday of Jesus which was pegged on 25th December is more nearer in intent to Mithras than to Krishna, Hermes, or Horus. Mithras is an ancient Sun god who is also associated with the Sol Invictus, and was the prevalent cult figure during the late Roman cum Byzantine Empire. In the Emperor Contantine's attempt to ensure a smooth transition of the Byzantine Empire to a Christian state, many pagan icons and symbols were deftly incorporated into Christian theology (a practice called syncretisation), and that as well includes the shifting of the traditional Sabbath (Saturday) to Sunday (the day of the worship of the Sun), and the birthday of Jesus being pegged at the exact date when the Romans were used to celebrating the birth of Mithras (25th December). (Mithras as well was said to have had an immaculate conception, had 12 disciples, and ascended to heaven). Christianity is as echt as it is false. 2 Likes |
Religion / Re: The Illusion Called Karma by DarkRebel69: 5:45pm On Dec 28, 2017 |
vaxx: Your attempt at giving the concept of Karma a Newtonian twist was clearly not well thought out, and also a shot in the foot. Law of Karma says: "for every action, there is a commesurate and similar reward" i.e. if you do evil, you receive equal evil. Newton's third Law of motion: "for every action, there is an equal and OPPOSITE reaction" i.e. if you do evil, you get the OPPOSITE (good). Like I said, “shot in the foot”. 11 Likes 4 Shares |

butterflyl1on: He isn't desperate, nor is he stupid. The concept of Karma is not strictly Hindu. Almost all religions – both ancient and contemporary – have at their core the fundamental doctrine of "good deeds beget good rewards, and evil deeds beget evil rewards". Isn't that why the idea of "Heaven/afterlife" is a recurring decimal in almost every religion on earth? – the phantom promise of an otherwordly paradise for earthly do-gooders. As I said, the concept of Karma cuts across every religion, except that it goes by different names in the various religions. Or what would you call these biblical extracts if not a dead-ringer for the Karmic concept?: I) "There is no peace, saith the Lord, unto the wicked" (Isaiah 48:22 KJV) II) "As you sow so shall you reap" (Galatians 6:7) 8 Likes |

Romance / Re: Date A Girl In Your Financial Lane by DarkRebel69: 10:18pm On Dec 23, 2017 |
I think we should first define what qualifies as materialistic. To me, if a person wants 2 cars, he's not at all materialistic; it's benign ambitiousness and it's very healthsome. But should a person crave 10 cars, then that's when it becomes vainglorious and materialistic, because 10 cars is well beyond bare neccessity. And perhaps we could say it reeks of insecurity as well, since it appears that such a person has externalised his sense of self-worth and taken to measuring his self-value based on the number of vehicles that he owns. Or, am I Sigmund-Frueding too much? Understand this, humanity has always revolved around these three seemingly innocuous things: Money, Power, and Sex – The unholy Trimurti! Wars have been waged because of either of these three things; friends have betrayed friends because of one, or two, or three of these three things; and so on and so forth. Life seems to revolve around these three things. It is, as Nietzsche would say, an "eternal recurrence of the same" – i.e. the dynamics of life would continue in one way or the other to operate on these three principles of Money, Power, and Sex, ad infinitum. It's now left to you to either accept this inexorably endless cycle (which is the favourable course of action) or to oppose it (a position Nietzsche termed "Ressentiment" --- a sad, sad, bitter position). Many POOR BOYS/GUYS/MEN have opted for the path of "Ressentiment". You would often find them hurling brickbats at girls/ladies/women who have spurned their romantic overtures due to financial reasons. I think such males have refused to be realistic. The simple fact is that when it comes to sex, females have the evolutionary advantage. An average female can have sex with as many 10 different men in a day, whereas the same couldn't be said for an average male, especially one without bells and whistles (i.e. without extraordinary looks, wealth, etc.) The evolutionary leveller is that while males are more ready to have a roll in the hay with just about anyone remotely "fuckable", females are genetically "more choosier", hence, some sort of evolutionary equilibrum is established – females who can easily score sex care more for emotional intimacy and are generally more pickier and therefore do not have as much sexual partners as they could, while men who cannot easily acquire sex generally care less for emotional intimacy. Not to add the fact that the practice of slut-shaming and female-sexuality-supressing social mores would typically deter an average female from expressing herself sexually as much as she would like to. Long story short, in general, women control sex. And in return, most women expect you to bring something commesurate to the table as well. Quid pro quo, you might call it. Don't rack your brain too much... That thing you are to bring is MONEY. Only a tiny percentage of the fairer sex care little about money, so unless you as a man are lucky to cross paths with a woman who thinks the place of money is on the backburner, then I suggest you quit whining and face reality head-on. Sociologists call it the "Beauty-status exchange", and trust me, it's not just a "river in Egypt"; It's a real thing. I have always held the opinion that poor men should have no business dating, much less having children. It is inhumane both to yourself and to your offsprings who would have to suffer the austerities wrought by your financial inadequacies. 4 Likes 1 Share |

eyoniggar: His on-ball movements are superb, plus he's got pace and is very quick-witted, much unlike Gomez. Although, Valverde shouldn't have started him today at RB over Semedo. That was quite the idïotic gamble (we were lucky Madrid's strikers were even more idiötic than our coach). I observed that almost all Real's threats in the first-half came from Marcelo and Ronaldo exploiting Roberto's wing, forcing Pique to over-exert himself. Had CR7 and Benzema taken their chances, the tale would have ended very differently. I still don't think Ernesto Valverde is a tactically sound coach. As yet, he's only a very lucky manager. What do you think? 2 Likes |

Heck, I'll even let you blindfold me just to prove I can locate the "Twin Towers" without my faculty of sight. ... I know it's a matter of preference, but the implications are more psychological than physical for me. There's just something about the dark complexion that is bestial, and raw... and dare I say "slutty". Oh boy! I must say, the breadth of your teutonomania is twice the size of the Louvre (and the Louvre is the longest building in Europe!). One would almost mistake you for the ghost of Nietzsche. In fact, I think you aspire a tad too much to become like him. This was a man who forsook alcohol (I'm wth him on this though), who drank only milk and water (nah, this brand of asceticism sucks!), who had mommy and sister issues; who was so intelligent yet could not put down his philosophy in an intelligently coherent form; who was socially awkward, who was chronically sex-starved and got rejected by loads of women - Lou Andreas Salomé being most prominent, and who suffered a mental breakdown when he was 44. "Horse-hugging maniac on the streets of Turin" ring a bell? Remind me again, why you would want to emulate such a lonely, tragic figure? I could give you a better mentor: Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci (The greatest man ever to have treaded the earth). LOL Naezara: 2 Likes |

Ishilove: What a pleasant surprise then. Call me Neanderthal, but I actually prefer stage dramas to on-screen movies. I'm not saying the former is better, though; it's only a matter of preference. I wish there were more theatres in the country for stage plays. Don't you wish so as well? Four times? I envy you people who can watch a movie more than once and still enjoy it in the subsequent times as much as you did when you watched it the first time. That's just not me. No matter how mind-blowing a movie or fiction book is, I find it difficult watching or reading it again, which is why I always try to make the first time count. I would have to wait for about 5 years or so to elapse before I can hope to enjoy a movie half as much as I did on my first contact with it. |

LordKO: There's no need to get salty. Just admit that you were talking a boatload of crap. Besides, "bumkin" has to do with ships. It's not a derogatory term, which I assume you think it is. If you meant it as an abuse then you should have said "bumpkin". LOL
Empty barrels make the loudest noises. The link to the website that you posted said absolutely nothing about a "tiny difference" (as you opined) between "submission" and "submissiveness". (I just wanted to get that out of the way before you think you have posted a valid link). For the sake of you and your kind who have insufferably tiny IQs, I will try to explain as simply as I can, in the wild hope that you would eventually see how all what you've been doing is firing blanks (even though I'd have a better chance of persuading a volcano to not erupt than in making you see that you've been talking gibberish). Now you say "submission" is different from "submissiveness", so let's see what Wikipedia has to say about the two terms: 1) Submission: "the action of accepting or yielding to a superior force or to the will or authority of another person." 2) Submissiveness: "the quality of being submissive." 3) Submissive: "ready to conform to the authority or will of others; meekly obedient or passive." In the foregoing, we can see that submission is defined as the act of accepting or yielding to the authority of another person. Submissiveness is also said to be the quality of being submissive. And to be submissive was also defined as being ready or willing to yield/conform to the authority of others (which is basically the same thing as “submission”). Like I said, your IQ is tiny. I'm not even trying to curse you or something; I'm just stating a fact. If you cannot see that the two words are literally the same thing, then I have no business exchanging words with you. You're just too dumb.
You used "intelligent and confident" in your post, and I used "intelligence and self-confidence". Anyone with a remotely discriminating mind would have known that I only paraphrased your words, not alter them. Stop embarassing yourself in public and do your research. Self-effacement is rarely a good quality.
Whatever, charlatan. Once again, it's "bumpkin", not "bumkin". LOL. 3 Likes 1 Share
