Me I have cash,I have handsomeness,I have education,what exactly do u need before u appreciate a guy?

Hmm...

Sense of humor
Open-minded
Ambition
Decent looks
Respectful
Educated, or at least intelligent
LOYALTY LOYALTY LOYALTY!

There are more preferences, but if a man is lacking these, it's probably a no-go.

"Trouble"
"Suspicious"

I posted this originally with open mind and heart, but I must say, many of these comments about AAs are disheartening.

This bleaching trend has got to go. What's really attractive is learning to love your NATURAL self!

This is beyond the use of makeup and weave... this might be the ultimate self-hatred.

Where are the ladies in the house..please let's discuss this..Who would you go for? An entrepreneur with great vision and prospects or an employee..Let's be sincere and open minded.

If I had do choose between either, definitely the entrepreneur with great vision. That would be a dream come true!

On a normal day, I don't comment on a dumb thread like this

That aside

Personally I think only a very dumb, myopic and silly person (just like the OP) will be walking on the street with such a ridiculous mentality. The truth of the matter is that any lady with this mentality have nothing to offer you even if you date them

There are thousands of graduates out there who have made the sacrifices of success yet no job. Does their inability to secure jobs make them worthless?

This thread would have made a little sense if you were actually referring to LAZY guys

Wonderful response! Puts things into perspective.

Missing out on what exactly. Money?? My God! We have gone full circle.
People break up with good men all the time for their own personal reasons.
This mentality that you are missing out is wrong. You are indirectly telling women to stick it out with their partner because "He might get rich" instead of love.

No, I am certainly not saying that. Lol I'm aware that there are legitimate reasons to end it with a man other than financial status.

To clarify, that particular comment was directed towards MATERIALISTIC women only; they are the ones "missing out" on the money that they shouldn't have been concerned about to begin with.

A jobless man is a red flag, but it wouldn't stop me from dating him in the right circumstances. I am entrepreneur-minded and would prefer to help him out. smiley

If the reason for not having the job is due to LAZINESS-- that is another story.

But there are plenty of millionaires who started from the bottom, and the women who once rejected them are left missing out! I am not shallow nor am I absorbed with a man's wealth. Who cares?

Aw cry I am sorry this is bothering you.

This may sound funny, but meditate!! Sit down for a few minutes in the day and close your eyes while being quiet and still. Allow whatever thoughts that come to mind come and go. You will feel more positive and refreshed afterwards, and this will help balance your emotions. Trust me!! smiley

Oh and my brotha, PLEASE don't physically harm yourself in any way. Good luck!

I can't lie-- I am African American and I love them too!! Not because I am desperate for a man or have hatred for our own men... but for well-rounded reasons.

1. They have such wonderful cultural values and beliefs.

2. They are devoted to education (as am I), and providing for their families.

3. They are so sweet to their mothers! smiley

4. Not to mention they are indeed very attractive and masculine. Lol I truly admire African brothers.

Oh, I almost forgot about the advice. They are all around the DMV; I have many African friends, especially Nigerian and Ghanaian, who live there. Try to go to the African Festival of the Arts in Chicago in 2016; I attend every year. If you REALLY are interested in settling down with an African man... go to Africa!

Good luck sis

I just hate it when 'masquerades' talk bad about guys who 'sag'.
Sagging ain't my thing though and I dont support it, but I believe we've all got to remove the log in our eyes before we pick on someone with a relatively tiny spec in his!

...and some presenter just said they dont need to 'blow their cover' cos they need to always look good. Does that tell us something?!
Plus I dont understand why someone will comfortably or uncomfortably (with the spontaneous itches and scratching) wear a head warmer for straight 3 weeks without removing it...no air, no water...and still open their mouths to say some niggas are dirty!!!! hian!

Keep disguising sha, it's allowed but please keep your handkerchief away from me, I'd thought that was the color of your face before this weather got hot, or is this a painting class?!
But wait o, I had the impression that 'make up' means to raise an existing quality or quantity to a required amount. Could it be that some ladies are having some form of generally accepted inferiority complex or aint proud of their 'real' selves?!

LOL you silly oo grin grin
I disagree with some of that though. I think there is little correlation between sagging and makeup.

Sagging is derived from the prison lifestyle... it is a signal that a man is "available". Many men who sag aren't aware of this and think it's fashionable-- because they don't know the history of it!
I can only speak for myself, sagging doesn't bother me too much. But I LOVE a man in suit and tie! smiley wink

Is the cultural barrier too problematic in such a relationship?

Should each stick to their own?

Have you/would you consider dating or marrying an African American (akata)?

I'd like to hear thoughts on this topic. smiley
