Fingerprinter:Some arguments are not worth it. Some people will never understand, while some will understand and go ahead and start earning a living. How many Nigerian musicians use their real names? Why do law enforcement use fake names for undercover work? I have already mentioned CIA. The point is, like I said, no need arguing with them. |

ponti93:Or through wire transfer, though they charge $30 for this. |

kaze4blues:This happens most times. though Upwork tries to sort such issues, but sometimes there is nothing they can do to help. What I can advice you to do to guard against this happening is; 1. Always submit proposals to clients who have verified their payment and have spent over $500 for freelancers. Anyone that has spent below $100 is not guaranteed. 2. Second, stay the hell away from Indians ![]() |

Some days ago, I suggested organizing a training on the business angle of website development. I got a lot of feedback and decided to go ahead and get it done. It will cost me my precious time, but I think it's for the greater good. At least I will not be bombarded with questions any longer. The training is going to hold on the 14th - 16th September 2016, which is more or less a week from now. Like I said, I got a lot of suggestions and feedback especially on how much to charge for 3 days of my time. After much deliberations and considerations, I am pegging it at N2,500 (approximately $7). I believe this is super fair for a 3 days training. The program will be conducted through Skype and it can contain just 25 participants. So the earlier you book your seat, the better. In case you are wondering, the training will cover issues like; How do you charge a client N500k for a website and make them pay with no questions asked? How to actually divide your workload into sections and attach fees to each section. How to identify where the market is. How to prepare website design proposals and letters. How to keep earning from one client time and time over. How to get at least 1 or 2 new projects monthly. Etc. Like I said in the first thread, it is going to be interactive and practical. So if you are interested, please visit http://training.basetimes.com/ to book a seat ASAP. If you are not interest, please kindly move on. NB: This is not just for newbies, even if you are a guru in programming and still struggle to make money in the business, then hop in. You can ask your questions.

Marc Garnick, M.D., Editor in Chief of Harvard Medical School’s Annual Report on Prostate Diseases, says: Two relatively large studies of this question, reported in 2003 and 2004, yielded good news for sexually active men: high ejaculation frequency seemed to protect against prostate cancer. As part of Harvard’s Health Professionals Follow-up Study, 29,342 men between the ages of 46 and 81 reported their average number of ejaculations per month in young adulthood (ages 20–29), in mid-life (ages 40–49), and in the most recent year. Ejaculations included sexual intercourse, nocturnal emissions, and masturbation. Study participants also provided comprehensive health and lifestyle data every two years from 1992 to 2000. The scientists found that men who ejaculated 21 or more times a month enjoyed a 33% lower risk of prostate cancer compared with men who reported four to seven ejaculations a month throughout their lifetimes. An Australian study of 2,338 men came to a similar conclusion. In all, men who averaged 4.6 to seven ejaculations a week were 36% less likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer before the age of 70 than men who ejaculated less than 2.3 times a week on average. The study found no connection between prostate cancer and the number of sex partners. (An earlier study, however, found that men who had sex with 30 or more women were two to three times more likely to develop prostate cancer than men with only one partner.) Further study is needed to investigate possible protective mechanisms. In theory, emptying the prostate of potentially irritating or harmful substances might be one such mechanism. Regardless of the reason why, take comfort in the fact that ejaculation is not only pleasurable, but also may convey health benefits. SOURCES: Leitzmann MF, Platz EA, Stampfer MJ, et al. Ejaculation Frequency and Subsequent Risk of Prostate Cancer. Journal of the American Medical Association 2004;291:1578–86. PMID: 15069045. |

Recently, some of my friends got married and a few were furious at me for not supporting them financially. The question is; must people assist you financially for your wedding? your views are welcome. |
OnWebTech:I used to think this way before. But I realized that getting the big clients is good, but you have to still learn how to package your business. For example, if a bank like GTbank reaches out to you and ask how much you'll charge to build a website. The first thing that comes to you mind is "this is a big fish so I MUST charge very well". The next thing, you say N5million. 94% of web designers CANNOT justify why they should be paid N5million for a building a website. I believe this is a problem often encountered by even the most experienced developers. There is a learning phase, a process one has to go through to really understand his worth and understand why clients need to pay the big bucks. Sometime ago, I pretended to be a client and called one developer here asking him how much it will cost him to build a website for me, and he said N200k. I was like....what ?"Please can you tell me why I should pay N200k for a website?" And he practically told me that is the way he charges and other top guys in the industry will even charge more than that. This CANNOT make me pay you 200k for a website even if I have N10million. ![]() The problem we have as web developers is that we put in our utmost best trying to learn the latest programs, how to build apps, how to do responsive, etc and then we start shouting we are gurus, pays us huge money. It dosen't work that way. Learning the skill is one thing, learning the business is another thing. So I think its a gathering of both new and experienced developers experiencing some form of frustration in the business. Adrenaline123:Thanks for indicating your interest to participate. And as per your suggested fee...well, it's a suggestion and I like your opinion. Still waiting for others to chip in. |
RaphaeloBurgess:Yes please. Forward your CV. |
gidimasters:thankd boss. But you haven't given any suggestions. |
Recently, I accomplished a milestone of 100 websites done. So many people reached out to me privately to teach them how to go about attaining such. Someone specifically asked; "how do you charge a minimum of 100k and yet still get clients? How do you do it?". These are questions I will like to provide answers. There are a lot of you who are skilled developers (way skilled than me), but yet you find it hard to get a client willing to pay you N100k for a website. You have been practically living from hand to mouth. Well, I want to dedicate 3 days to teach you guys what I know. I don't want to teach you website design, but I want to teach you website design business. I want to teach you about the business aspect of it. Let me give you some highlights; Sometime ago, I attended a webinar organized by one of my mentors in the US and right then I discovered that its not just knowing how to code or configure and customize wordpress. You need to learn how to run a business. And running a business has a lot involved. E.g How many clients have you actually prepared a mock-up and prototype design before talking about your costing? Do you know that the art of website development can be broken into over 50 deliverables which are all billable? And the total will land you in the margin of N100k and above. Do you also give a costing for conversion strategy? Do you discuss and charge for planning? Do you charge for SEO? DO you charge for training? There are a thousand things you do when building a website and you charge 20k for a group of work you are supposed to charge N200k. The truth is that out of 100% of the job you are doing, you are only being paid for less than 20%, while you are doing the remaining 80% for free. Sad, but its the simple truth! You should learn how to actually paint the job as "very difficult" for the client to really pay you the big bucks without asking too much questions. And make them pay for EVERY work you do in the project. What do you know about website design proposals? Can you actually prepare one? All these are issues I think I will talk about during the class. I don't know how many people will be interested, but I think it's going to take place in a closed user group on facebook. I want 100% interaction and participation. You can also drop your burning questions here...things you will like to learn about the business and I will see how I can add it to the list of topics for discussion in the class. I will prepare the group on FB and give an update on this thread. And least I forget, biko, I like money. So, I need you guys to suggest what you think this class is worth. Three days of my time, dishing out my knowledge and give you guys series of documents to use. Suggest what you think you can pay for this class. Don't suggest I do it for free because the truth is that nothing good is free. Tell me what you can afford to pay, and I will go ahead and make arrangements for the class. Serious minded peeps only. Listen: People don't buy what you do, they buy why you do it. This is how to make money in website design business. Cheers. |
segunthebook:Submit to ..... |
