WebmastersI Just Completed 4 Years In Website Development With 100 Websites. by databoy247(op): 5:11pm On Aug 16, 2016
This month marks 4 years for me doing web development business. And today I just finished working on website number 100!

Personally, I didn't believe how I have been able to come this far. To some, it might not be enough, but to me, it is a major milestone taking into consideration the challenges, hurdles, disappointments, etc I have faced so far.

Majority of my websites are hosted on Whogohost while the rest are shared between;

Trudigits.com
DomainKing.ng
Qservers.net
Godaddy.com
Namecheap.com

As for the Nigerian hosts, I want to extend my thanks to them for their awesome support. Though some of you might have had it rough with them, but I will still give them a distinction. I remember how many times I have woken most of them up at the middle of the night, and they always deliver.

I also want to thank my other colleagues, some of whom do not frequent here again; @Dual Core, @Yawatide @DHTML, @Slyr0x, @fayimora, @greenmouse, etc. You guys have given your support time and time again without actually demanding for any form of rewards. And through you guys, I have been able to learn a thousand things here on this forum. You guys rock cool

I will not forget my esteemed clients both from NL and out of NL. Even those of you that gave me jobs and refused to pay, I still thank you. Because if I don't make the money from your job, I will gain an extra experience. tongue

To those of you in the business, I will say, do not relent and do not be discouraged. Hard work truly pays. As for me, 100 websites = 6 figures. So it pays to work and work extra hard.

Thanks also to Seun for this platform, because me and me alone knows what I have gained from NL.

So off to go plan my milestone achievement parry grin grin

WebmastersWhat Online Ads Do You Use? And Have They Worked For You? by databoy247(op): 10:07am On Aug 14, 2016
There are different forms of online advertising and as a business that thrives from having an online presence, settling for one or two online ad programs will go a long way in boosting your revenue.

Personally, I have tried some of the following and got varying results;

Google AdWords: For now, it's the best for me. I always get my ROI, it's only in rare occasions that I don't get my investment back.

Nairaland Ads: I usually get a lot of clicks probably from unserious folks. Maybe it's because of too many young persons who just want to see what your website looks like. Dem nor know say na your money dey burn angry. But sometimes, it pays and it is perfect for targeted lead generation.

Facebook Ads: For revenue and leads generation, to me Facebook is zero!! It's only perfect when you need more Facebook likes. I have spent $100 (approximately 30k) and did not even get N1,000 in return. I nor try am again grin

Bing Ads: Yet to try it.

Twitter Ads: Yet to use it

Yahoo Ads:, Next on my list cool

LinkedIn Ads: Tried it, but it's damn too expensive so I had to opt out without even getting started. grin

Which ad network do you use?

BusinessHow To Become A Millionaire In 12 Months In Nigeria by databoy247(op): 10:12am On Aug 08, 2016
How to become a millionaire in 12 months in Nigeria. Simple strategy. cool

Using a baseline of 150 million people, more than 70 million make use of the internet, more than 10 million fit into any proposed business category you wish to start, and more than 50 million Nigerians are working class or business owners.

Create a product or service and offer to just 0.10% of Nigerians (not even up to 1%) using various medium of advertising (internet, print, radio, television, word of mouth, etc). Internet and Radio remains the cheapest, but internet being my favorite.

0.10% of Nigerians equals 150,000 people. Now your broad target is around 150,000 Nigerians. With this, your marketing efforts should produce at least a 5% response rate which is approximately 7,500 people. You may or may not sell to them all.

But, focusing your marketing efforts to the filtered category 7,500 people WILL produce results.

For a targeted baseline of 150,000 Nigerians, after filtering and concentrated followups, a minimum 500 people who will buy your service or product will emerge. Except what you are offering does not have value. So, out of 150,000 Nigerians (0.10% of the general population), in a one year period, you should sell your products or services to a minimum of 500 Nigerians willing to pay you money.

Take note that in this context, 500 potential customer represents just 0.3% of 150,000 Nigerians. I know this is very possible!

If your service or product sells for N5,000, you should be making an average of N2.5 million in a year. If you don't hit that target the first year, you will hit it the next year using the right strategies.

Broken down further, it means getting a minimum of 41 people out of 150,000 Nigerians to pay you money each month for a year. This is a worst case scenario.

Bottom line, there is always 500 out of every 150,000 people willing to part with a minimum of N5,000 in exchange for value whether there is economic crunch, or whether you like it or not. It's now left for you to make them pay you the money or not.

The question can ask yourself (which I always put to people) is;what can I offer or sell to 150,000 people and convince just 500 of them to pay me N5,000 annually? Answer this question and you will become a millionaire in the next 12 months.

Using a carefully planned digital marketing strategy, this target is achievable annually. Experts in the house can prove me wrong. We are all learners, so your comments are welcome. cool

BusinessRe: How To Know You're Really Poor And Practical Ways To Help Yourself. by databoy247(op): 12:46pm On Aug 01, 2016
More signs of poverty;
Your diet usually consists of noodles, and basically starchy food (rice, eba, yam, bread, etc).

As a guy, you have had to make the choice between buying cigarettes and buying food. Cigarettes won. As a lady, you make a choice between food and fixing your hair.

You say that not having DSTV is a "lifestyle choice" and you "don't watch television anyway" but you go over a friend's house to watch True Blood or the Zeeworld.

You have never bought a band new phone in your life. Recently I asked a friend when was the last time he bought a brand new phone, and he just gazed up and smiled say, he has never bought a new phone. He was so surprised.....too much of OLX, and you are poor mate!

Your mattress is on the floor, bros its not a matter of choice, its simply that you cannot afford to get a good bed set.

Waiting for the right time. Many remain poor because they are forever waiting for that elusive perfect time that never comes! And while they wait, their dreams end up with them in their graves.

You seek short-cuts to fortune such as sports betting, pools, MMM, etc. In the process they burn their fingers and even fall deeper down the abyss of poverty. Truthfully, a well to do man hardly do these.

FACT:
You do a business that generates over N3,000 daily, its good because if you calculate it, that's about N60,000 monthly....hurray!!

BUT after spending on the above monthly expenses, what will be left? Nada.

In fact, you see a guy driving a cool car and you want to own such a car. But the question you should ask yourself is; how many N3,000 can I gather to buy a car of N1.4million (which is like an average car for an average Nigerian).

BusinessHow To Know You're Really Poor And Practical Ways To Help Yourself. by databoy247(op): 11:07am On Aug 01, 2016
Please read this post carefully and thoroughly. It might be a bit lengthy but sure worth your time.

A lot of Nigerians really don't have an idea how poor they are and more still, don't have a clue on how to help their situation. When you see adverse poverty in a society, it does not necessarily mean the government is at fault all the time. Start with yourself, do a self evaluation and see how poor or rich you are, then you will know how to proceed in your life's journey.

Facts:
If your business or salary is not more than $200 (N64,000) monthly, which is N768,000 or $2,400 annually, then my dear, you are really living in poverty. This applies to both me and everyone.

Statistics:
0% of Americans earn less than $2,500 annually, Americans 25+ years old earn a minimum of $20,000 annually (high school graduates - same as SSCE holders in Nigeria), while the average American with a degree earns a minimum of $35,000 annually. (Wikipedia)

Minimum wage in America is $7.25 per hour, so if you work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, you should be earning an average of $1,160 (equivalent to N370,000).

PS: My emphasis here is not to showcase how much American government pays her citizens, but do a comparison on total monthly or annual earnings. Your earning might come from government, private sector or personal business.

Lets make some natural deductions:
Cost of cooking an average soup and stew in Nigeria is between N2,500 - M4,000 (things are damn expensive in the market) and if you cook this 3 times a week, that will be N30,000 minimum.

Cost of fuel for generator (home and shop) weekly is around N2,500 if you dey manage well well oh. Monthly, that gives you N10,000 - Note that I didn't add your vehicle fuel and maintenance cost.

Cost of a 2 bedroom apartment in modern Nigeria is N20,000 monthly.

Total cost of expenses monthly has now clocked N60,000 (salary or monthly business profit don finish).

Note that I didn't add the following;
Recharge cards - Personally, I spend more than N8000 monthly on recharge cards, I am a businessman.

Shop rent - The average shop rent in Nigeria is around N8,000 monthly

School fees for kids - A good average school costs around N20,000 a term which is every 4 months. If you have 3 kids in School, that is N60,000 every 4 months.

Nepa bills and TV/phone subscriptions, security levy (where I stay we all pay for security).

Now:
If you earn approximately $2,400 annually, how do you expect to cope with basic expenses going upwards of $10,000huh

These calculations are not for the rich, they are for the average Nigerian. Anything below average, is poor.....sad truth.

Have you ever sat down to calculate your monthly expenses compared to your earnings?? Have you ever thought about the reason why you keep struggling and life seems to be getting tougher??

My next post will bring up some revelations, insights and solutions. Comments are welcome. cool grin

Recently I was reading what a recruiter posted on LinkedIn. He said during an interview he asked a young man;

Recruiter: "why should we hire you?".

Young man: "You test dating apps don't you?"

Recruiter: "yes, we do. But what has that got to do with my question?"

Young man: "you are hiring me because I would ensure the dating apps you test come out error free and works perfectly. I want to use the perfect dating app the find the perfect woman of my dreams".

Jobs/VacanciesWhy Don't You Tell Me About Yourself? by databoy247(op): 3:38pm On Jul 29, 2016
“So, why don’t you tell me (us) about yourself?”

Careful, it’s a trap.

Why? Because most of us gleefully seize the moment to drone on about you, where you born, where you went to school, and on and on and on.

Don’t do it.

I recommend, along with others who care like I do about such conversations, you reply: “I have three recent accomplishments that I believe match up well with what I understand are challenges you are currently facing.” (Practice headline summary of each)

“Would you like to hear about how I saved my former employer more than N2 million annually?, or about how I salvaged three disgruntled, high revenue customers, or about how I made more accurate an antiquated forecasting process?”

The interviewer, not expecting such a thorough reply with options, will, based on history, encourage you to select one to amplify in less than 60 seconds. You then choose the one that best matches what you think the interviewer wants to hear.

Avoid…eschew…and don’t talk about you. Instead talk about results you delivered and be sure you quantify the achievements with real Numbers, real Percents and real Dollars (money).

Remember, it’s not what you say so much as it is, how you say it. Smile. Show genuine enthusiasm. Sell your reply with conviction. Competing applicants will not be as well prepared as you. Hiring officials like to hire happy people and people they believe their boss will like, too.

Everyone has a boss.
Romance6 Ways You Betray And Cheat On Your Spouse Without Even Knowing It. by databoy247(op): 4:42pm On Jul 27, 2016
Most of us thinks that sleeping with someone who isn't your spouse can only be defined as cheating. The reason why most relationships breakup today is when both parties cheat on each other without actually sleeping with other people.

Usually, this starts with dozens of mini betrayals. Things that occur in your relationship that slowly but surely crack the relationship’s foundation.

Some of these are obvious — lying to your partner, openly flirting with a co-worker, talking to your old high school flame on Facebook way too much. But some betrayals aren’t so overt. And those acts quietly open the door to major acts of betrayal that can lead to divorce.

So, what exactly are these mini betrayals?

1. You have secret relationships.
Almost everyone has a relationship outside of their main relationship. Exes we’re still friends with, co-workers we laugh with, best friends we share our deepest thoughts with. That’s all fine and healthy. But problems arise when you use those relationships to fulfill emotional needs not being met in your marriage.

How do you know if you’re doing this? It’s easy. Ask yourself one simple question: “Would I act the same with this other person if my significant other was watching?”

If you answer “No,” you’re likely crossing boundaries that lead into dangerous territory.

2. You hide money.
If you ask a thousand couples what they argue about most: 70 percent will tell you money! The way a betrayal happens in this area is pretty obvious: you hide a spending problem, you have a building project you cannot tell your spouse about, you are always in debt and can't tell your spouse about it, etc

If you’re engaging in any of these acts, take action and tell your spouse exactly what’s going on.

But the damage doesn’t stop there. Only allowing friends to hear bad things about your spouse prevents them from seeing the good, even when it’s right there.

4. You undermine your partner in public.
You know what I mean: That roll of your eyes, that sarcastic remark, the cheap shot you take when they piss you off — these are small, but deeply hurtful betrayals. By doing this, you’re telling your spouse that your marriage isn’t sacred and that you’re fine violating their privacy by airing your dirty emotional laundry in public.

5. You’re emotionally dishonest.
Emotional dishonesty comes in all shapes and sizes. From committing to something you don’t really want to do, to saying that you’re “fine” (when you’re actually boiling with disdain), all the way to faking an orgasm. But emotional dishonesty is often most dangerous when you use it to justify your actions.

If you’re doing something that, deep down, you know is wrong, you’ll try to convince yourself (and your partner) that it’s right. Sometimes, you’ll exaggerate or downplay the situation, so that whatever you’re doing seems innocent. You know it’s not.

6. You’re straight up selfish.
You show it in a million different ways — with your time, during sexx, with the attention you give (or don’t). Being selfish on occasion isn’t a problem — it has its own benefits. But being selfish constantly tells your spouse that you’re better off flying solo.

One particularly destructive way selfishness creeps into relationships is by invalidating your spouse’s feelings.

Your spouse’s feeling are never wrong (whether you agree with those feelings or not). Invalidating your partner breeds anger and creates a division between the two of you. It clearly shows that you don’t respect their experiences and that they shouldn’t trust their own emotions. This is a form of manipulation.
