Wit little or no achievement to point to, GEJ's strategy of using tribe & religion to divide Nigerians is no longer working. Sorry d decision has bcom very easy 4 Nigerians because they hav decided to make dis election a referendum on d performance of both men while in public office.
GEJ - tried, tested & proven to be d weakest, most corrupt & clueless leader in Nigerian history.
GMB - tried, tested & proven to be one of d greatest Nigerian leaders of all time.

Buhari took democracy in Nigeria back 20years after the Coup of 83'. Corruption or not, the beauty of democracy is in the right of the majority, not the armed, to select and remove their leaders. Buhari stole that right from millions of Nigerians when he thwarted our democracy. He should have waited for Nigerians to remove Shagari through the ballot box. Who knows, if Buhari hadn't seized power and suspended our democracy, we'd have had the chance to select better leaders at the polls and our democratic institutions would have had a solid foundation right from the 80's. And instead of apologising, he's still adamant that he did nothing wrong.
Buhari's coup though unconstitutional was patriotic & even more necessary than d doctrine of necessity dat ended imminent crises & brought GEJ to power. dat coup dat ridded Nigeria of d NPN, d ancestor of d PDP, which consisted of d worst set of criminals to be found anywhere in d world is probably one of d greatest acts of patriotism by any nigerian, living or dead. d NPN crooks did not get to power thru free & fair elections, an election dat late Tai Solarin reffered to as a STOLEN PRESIDENCY & they would not leave via elections. dat coup by Buhari is to date one of d greatest acts of patriotism by any nigerian, living or dead.

[/color]
WE KNOW OUR HISTORY. Buhari took over nigeria in d worst economic recession in our history. d thieving politicians of d NPN d ancestor of d current PDP looted d nation to bankruptcy to d extent dat no one would borrow d heavily indebted Nigeria any more money. There was no food, no money. Soap, milk, sugar etc popularly called essential commodities disappeared from d shelves just like in Zimbabwe. d federal govt could not pay staff salaries. Few states were able to apply d IMO FORMULA - (half salary) pioneered by Kalu Idika Kalu d then Imo state comm 4 finance. Multinationals like kingsway, UTC, PZ etc left d country. Daily more people became unemployed. In short d economy collapsed.
When GMB took over he paid a huge part of d external debt incurred by d thieving politicians, d rest of which OBJ paid recently . He rejected d IMF loan & its slavish conditionalities. He refused to devalue d naira & thru economic ingenuity he kept d inflationary rate between 3-5% & d exchange rate at $1 to 1 naira. He reversed d rot of d Shagari years & made d economy & d country buoyant again. He did it b4, he will do it again.

A cynical person would say that the reason he is doing all this is because he no longer has the military capability to take power by force.

Look, I have decided that it may not be bad to have change, but we need to understand the new man before giving him dominion over us.
If Shagari regime is what democracy is about may nigeria never hav democracy. On Anyday, at anytime anyone dat is familiar wit nigerian history will take Buhari's dictatorship over d civilian misrule of d criminal national party of nigeria (NPN) d ancestor of d present dysfunctional PDP. Under Shagari, d thieving politicians wrecked d economy & plunged d nation into d greatest recession in our history & accumulated an unprecedented debt burden on d nation which Buhari started paying & which decades later OBJ completed. Buhari has done it b4, he will do it again.

Are you sorry for bringing to an end the Shagari government?

That's a democratic process that could have extended.

GMB: So when you are a democracy you are entitled to steal your treasury dry, and put your people into pauperized positions, and destroy institutions, and destroy infrastructure?

So you blame Shagari for that coup?

GMB: Don't personalize. I'll blame the second republic...

For that?

GMB: For that. And when we came out we told the nation why and we conducted enquiries, documentary ones, not just hearsay.

So he still believes it is ok for the military to overthrow a democratic government if the democratic government is corrupt. Incidentally, many people believe that the current government is also corrupt. If the General's view is right, then a military coup in 2015 is justified...

Do you agree? undecided (I strongly disagree because dictatorship is a greater evil than corruption. You can fight corruption within democracy)

We know our history & no amount of misinformation can sway d nigerian people. Like Murtala Mohammed b4 him, d west saw d progressive & fiercely patriotic Buhari govt who did what was in nigeria's best interest as a threat to their own interests & did everything to stop him. In d end they succeeded. It is d tragedy of our nation dat d west succeeded in dethroning two of nigeria's greatest leaders - Murtala Mohammed & Buhari who modelled his regime after dat of d patriot, Murtala Mohammed

Hahahaha PDP ar now in a hapless & sorry state. Pls which coup was dat & who were d soldiers executed. While Jerry Rawlins of Ghana executed 3 former heads of state for commiting d same crime dat d nigerian political class commited against our nation, GMB decided against spilling their blood & only put them in jail yet some ignoramuses still go about subjecting him to unfair & vicious attacks.
FYI GMB in his short stint as head of state resisted d attempt by western powers to enslave & exploit nigeria because of d dire economic situation in which d politicians b4 him put nigeria. He snubbed them & their slavish IMF conditionalities.

If Shagari had taken a look at Nigeria's history books,he would have noticed that the country's military coups have almost always been carried out by the same group of soldiers......

Had Shagari acted decisively early during his term and retired these men,his government may have survived(the only notable senior officer he retired was Major Gen.Joe Garba)....

Disclaimer- a constant guest is not always welcome.
Nothing could hav saved Shagari's govt. It was a disaster waiting to happen. He inherited a nation in economic boom & surplus but due to his weakness & inability to curb corruption on d part of his ministers he bankrupted d nation. His ouster was a big relief to Nigerians. Shagari was not corrupt but he was surrounded by d most corrupt individuals like d defacto president Umaru Dikko.
d retirement of Major General Joseph Nanven Garba, who is undoubtedly d brightest diplomat & foreign affairs minister dat Nigeria has ever produced was unfortunate. His contribution to d prestige & importance of Nigeria in international politics particularly his contribution to nigeria's leadership in ending apartheid & d freedom of d nations of southern africa is unequalled.
Shagari can not in honesty blame d army who acted patriotically to end d suffering of d nigerian masses. He was an honest man but he was weak & fell an easy prey to d members of his rabidly corrupt party, d NPN.
