Pets › Do Dogs See Spirits And Witches? by Daum(op): 7:33pm On Mar 23, 2020 |
While staying indoors because of Covid 19, my mind flashed back to my visit to a Village about 10 years ago.
One night, we were outside as always and there was no moonlight so everywhere was dark just some few local lamp on. We were seated outside with a man in his 70s and he was telling us some stories.
There was this local dog opposite us just lying down. After a while she started barking. At first we thought she was just disturbing but the dog stood up and was barking continuously facing a particular direction. What caught my interest was how she walked towards that direction and stood there barking.
Later she stopped but she lied down there. Less than 10 minutes again she stood up like she heard something and started backing again, this time we were concerned, we pointed our torch light at the direction but we couldn't see anything, it was then the old man told us to relax, that the dog knows why it is barking. She probably had seen an evil spirit or witch and as long as she keeps barking, the spirit can't come close.
Has anyone had a similar experience before?

falopey: What power did he have to break a region ? You guys are funny. Traditional rulers lobbying the federal government to create a state in their domain is not a new thing. Akenzua lobbyed the federal government to bring a state to his region. What’s wrong with that? That’s is not meddling with politics. Most of the states created by Abacha and Babangida were as a result of traditional rulers demand and lobby. No king has any power in Nigeria to break any region. Una too dey overhype this una Oba. Everything for life na hype. It's because we hype him that's why he is seen in that way. If we do not rubbish him, we won't allow others do also. Na how you take respect your papa, na so outsiders go take respect am. |

Dartilo: Pls change the title of the thread to OBA of Benin..
Funny tin dat pple comparing Benin vs British war wit current day politics, if so do u knw how many deji of akure dat was beheaded and dethroned by the Benin... Google it and u wil c dat there was a time dat d oba of benin order d oba of Lagos to commit suicide and he did, so u can add dis as well or probably create a thread of indigenous king dethroning indegwnous king so we can recall history...
Nobody can replace Oba of Benin,an oba is born as an oba and not as a commoner... Tell them how The Oba was dethroning kings in Akure even before the British came. |

AreaFada2: I see Nairaland as a means to educate and be educated. That's why I go beyond giving a simple reply. I answer questions before people even ask. There are many silent readers here. Some are highly educated. Even researchers who sometimes contact me. Yes any king can be dethroned.
Point is that since the king was not appointed by any govt in the first place, dethronement in practice does not exist in Benin in practice. Presentation of staff of office is a mere formality to the Benins, though in accounting with existing secular laws.
Sure, in the distant past there has been dethronement carried out by the nobles when the king became tyrannical. Even regicide. The regicide was with Oba Ohen. The fact is the only people that can remove an Oba is the Edo people, and even when they do it, it will still be his son or one of his sons. The power of a king is in the way his people carry him. Edo people carry their Oba pass anything. |

baralatie: oba of Benin was dethroned, banished the palace cleared and burned and was replaced with Obaseki. I know you're Yoruba and you just want to masturbate on something. Now look at that list, the only person on that list removed from his palace by a foreign power is Oba of Benin. Also before the Oba of Benin was deposed, Benin was independent and the British only deposed him after they successfully defeated Benin. Go and read about how they tried making Obaseki Oba in his place. It was strongly resisted. The Journey of a crown Prince to the throne is about 3 months. Benin people already know their next Oba if this one joins his ancestors. The Palace was left in ruins because nobody can stay there except he is Oba. The whole of ringroad belongs to the Oba. The emir of Kano was dethroned and right now another king is in the palace, it never happened in Benin. When Oba Akenzua was playing politics and trying to create the Midwest region out of the Western region, why did Awolowo not dethrone him. No Edo man as a governor will ever dethrone the Oba. 70% of the monarchs in Edo state have their direct lineage to the Palace in one way or the other. So you have cousins and distant cousins of this Oba ruling also as dukes. The federal government might decide to depose him, but it's a waste of time because nobody will be made king till he dies and when he dies, only his son will be made king. There can never be two kings in Benin. One must die for the other to succeed. |

falopey: The military administrator was just unfortunate thinking everything is just by gun. If it was a Yoruba military administrator or the like of Awolowo that dethroned Oba of Benin. Trust me. Nothing would have happened. It would all be voodoo vs voodoo. Awolowo would dethrone Oba of Benin and nothing would happen Why did he not do it to Akenzua when he broke the Midwest region from the western region. Oba Akenzua was playing politics against the AG then. Go and read about it. |
Culture › Re: Can Edo Governor Also Dethrone Oba Of Benin? by Daum: 7:28am On Mar 11, 2020 |
Omon605: Is totally impossible for Oba to be dethrone in Edo state , because in Edo Kingship is hereditary by birth, not choosing or appointed. In fact the governor or president have no role to play on it. Even if the governor decides otherwise and suspend the Oba, nobody in Edo will take the position and even if it means the Oba die on suspension, the next person to the throne must be the first son and if it happens he does not have son before his death it had to be his immediate younger brother. Nobody has the power to dethrone the Oba of Benin or any other king in Edo land. U are blessed in your loins |

jodeci: Fasting blood sugar can be done anytime the next day as long as it is more that 8hours of fasting.
98mg/DL is not bad, fasting blood sugar value is not fixed,it fluctuates within the normal limits, some days it could be lower.
Your symptoms could all be in your head. For now you are fine. Thank you very much The lab scientist told me the same |
Health › Re: I Am Worried About My Fasting Blood Sugar Result by Daum(op): 9:09pm On Jul 20, 2019 |
dirtycoin: The ideal time to visit the Lab for your fasting sugar blood test is before 8am. At 9am you were already late, very late, the Lab scientist should have explained the timing to you.
I advise that you redo the fasting sugar blood test again. This time, no water or food should be taken beyond 8:00pm and on the following day, visit the Lab before 8:00am to give samples of your blood for the fasting sugar blood test. The labs here don't really open early sir |
Health › I Am Worried About My Fasting Blood Sugar Result by Daum(op): 12:40am On Jul 17, 2019 |
Good morning Nairalanders. Over a couple of months I have lost so much body weight. It has been a gradual process since school resumed but it peaked during my examination period. Another thing I noticed is that my thirst increased and my need to urinate also did. I am in my final year so and I am under pressure of graduating with a 2.1 from skool so I have been under so much pressure. I went to do a blood fasting sugar test after taking my previous meal at about 7:30pm and taking the test by 9am the next day. The result showed 98mg/mL and I read that anything above 100 means I am prediabetic. I am just 24 and I am a bit worried about this.

Travel › Re: Airlines Warned To Avoid Iranian Airspace After Iran Shot Down ₦79b US Spy Drone by Daum: 7:06am On Jun 23, 2019 |
During the last Israeli Arab war, a confidential document was released that, the US allowed the Israeli sink one of her ships in the Mediterranean just so she could enter the war by blaming the Egyptian army. The US can sacrifice that drone just to send a message. I will like to remind you all that the US has fought in countries that had allies with Russia and China and these countries only supported by proxy. China and Russia will never get involved directly or openly, they will only send aid which is what allies do most times. America fought in Korea and Vietnam. The only reason America is delaying in this Iran issue is because of the volatility of the region. The Afghan crisis is there, Syria and Iraq on one hand. Libya and Yemen on the other hand. The region is already in flames and an attack on Iran is like adding petrol. Europe will crumble because of the refugee crisis because the middle east doesn't have many stable governments. If Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan were all stable by now, trust me Iran would be in hot waters now. Forget all those Iranian missiles they display, they are no match at all for the US.
You people should not push Iran to war While the battlefield would be in Iran and Iranians would suffer so much, Americans would be enjoying in their county. |
Education › Advice For A Student Association President Needed by Daum(op): 6:58pm On Jun 22, 2019 |
Good day everyone I had to create this thread because of it's urgency. I am a departmental President of a student association in a Public University in Nigeria. I have so many things that I want to achieve before I leave office sometime this year but I need sponsors for some of the things. One of them is a workshop seminar that would talk to students about life after school and how to survive beyond the walls of the university. One of my major challenges in organizing this program is getting good a public speaker or speakers who can actually talk into these students of ours. This I know would cost us as an association a lot and I don't even have any idea how to get a good figure like maybe Pastor Sam Adeyemi. Please I need help and advice on how to go about this Please help me achieve this dream Contributions and criticism is welcomed
