Upper cut for Dan Orbih |
IfnobeGod20:You just wrote my mind. I am not even sure if the socialist party of Nigeria believes in socialism or would want to practice it if elected... No matter how tribal we might want to see the political parties of the first republic, they had idealogies. Like it or not these where ideas. The parties we have now just want to win elections and have access to state resources. Nothing new |
SugarGirl44:Well a political party's Idealogy can be different from beliefs of the individual politician. I think that's where you start having spectrum on maybe right, left or centrist or far of either. In religion for example, the principle idealogy if I may say of Christianity is Jesus as the center piece. Yet you have different beliefs around this idea of Jesus. The same with Islam, so you have different beliefs within Islam or school of thoughts yet the core Idea is that there is only one God and Muhammad is his prophet. The salafist will lean in a certain direction, the wahabis will do same also. First of all, I believe that the Nigerian state doesn't have an idealogy, although it was supposed to be built around our motto but well it's just a facade. Our political parties don't even have anything they believe on. So in all honesty, what Obi said is not far from the truth. The only thing meaningful they are selling as aspirants is trust. He said it, just who do we trust. Maybe with time we will start having these things take shape and form. For now, no we don't have idealogies |
SmartyPants:Idealogies are different. There are economic and political idealogies. Some idealogies are shaped into the fabrics of foriegn policies and also entrenched in national psyche of the people. Most of our political parties as he rightly said don't have an idealogy. Let's be honest. All they have is copy and paste materials. Most of these parties have no ideas on how they view Nigeria and the rest of the world or which economic principles they believe will take them forward. One man's belief is not the same as a party's idealogy. An example is the Kemalist Idealogy that formed the Turkish Republic. That Idealogy is central to the Main opposition party in Turkey and also part of the fabric of the Turkish society. This idealogy is a doctrine in the Turkish military which by some has sworn to defend it. Nigeria doesn't have an idealogy nor do most of it's political parties. They're just vehicles via which elections can be won that's why CPC, ACN, ANPP and nPDP can transform into a new political party just to win an election in less than 4 years instead of each party maintaining it's own structure and forming a coalition and then sharing power as it is done elsewhere. It's one of the reason Politicians can decamp and recamp anywhere they find themselves. So what Obi said is not far from the truth. If we had political parties with idealogies then it was in the first republic and not this current dispensation. |
emmaodet:When did cyberfraud blow up Refresh your mind It was mid 2014-2015. Before then nobody was proud to be called a yahoo boy. It was on code. There was no pride in it because the society saw it as crime. Ask yourself, what happened. The system collapsed. Poverty skyrocketed and you had a large chunk of graduate out of the system with no jobs. These sophisticated young set moved into cyber crime and polished it and heaped the blame on the government... It was this group of mostly educated graduates that later fell back to the streets for recruitments. When they graduated, they had no jobs, they had to hang out with street boys. When they got money from cyber crime, they recruited street boys with very little education and gave them what you call FMT. These street boys worked very hard because they have little access to education and wanted to escape poverty. Some hit it very big and that's how the cycle blew up. These street boys became a success story to other younger ones who knew they no hope of tertiary education. immediately they finished secondary school, they sign up. So you have a cycle. Immediately it became a norm. Society accepted it. That's why no matter what, fraud is highest among university environments and students than in other areas. It's students who learnt it that took it to the slums and streets where they came from. So if a government can come and fix things that will make the educated class less attractive to cyber crime, it will go a long way and change the narrative. The more we keep pushing out more graduates from the universities with no good jobs, the more you will have them falling Into cyber crime and them being seen as a role model to those who couldn't even attend universities. Let's be sincere, while we all grew up, we wanted to be like that bros that was a university student or corper shun. |
einsteine:So let's use that same Benin for this analysis of your 50k salary. Let's assume the boy is an ND graduate from Usen Polytechnic or Auchi. He gets a 50k salary job at 7up in Oluku. So he needs to rent an apartment. He gets an apartment for let's say 150k a year. His annual take home pay is 600k. Now he has to buy foam in his room and pot and other utensils. He will spend let's say 100k if he manages very well which you know it's very difficult at the moment. He has 350k left for the year. This he will use to transport himself, feed himself, cloth himself and pay his utility bills and keep some for his family. All this he will do if he is given the money upfront But how do you expect someone who is paid monthly to do all this in one year. It will take him over a year to do all this with the support of family and friends if he lucky. How many people really have this support system to bank on. What Betnaija and Fraud does is that, it gives people the ability to start faster. If either a fraudster or a gambler gets 600k once, he will be able to do everything in a space of two months and then, even if falls out of the street into working your 50k jobs. He can fit in and readjust his life. So fraud or betnaija is like that credit system that gives you a push in this extremely difficult economic situation. That's why people are attracted to it. Even in the civil service, it's proceeds from Inlfated contracts that government workers use in buying lands, roofing their houses or even buying a car. Their Salaries is just for day to day spending. |
NozinoGroup:I swear I tire for the guy You can't start your life on that Salary. Even 100k start up ehn, e go take you time to boost yourself before you fit stand up |
sparko1:Let's be honest What can 50k do for a graduate. Make we talk truth. 50k for one year is 600k. That's less than $1000. For a year. You expect a graduate to rent an apartment from that salary. Buy foam in his house and kitchen utensils and still feed himself and cater for his family with that salary.... Make we talk truth, the Nigerian state makes living so difficult for young people abeg |
iykofias:We are in September and I said the UK doesn't use Russian Gas. Well they haven't imported it the usual 4% in three months now. So they're not using it at all as it plays very little in their energy demand. Your earlier quote said Putin should use gas as economic warfare, then I replied you that as at today Britain doesn't use Russian gas. |
Patriotsleague:God bless your point It's what I always stressed. The British Empire was big, yes they conquered us. They gave us their language and they did attrocities and they left. Yet what did we learn from their time here. Did we learn to cater for ourselves. Instead it's looting and wickedness. Look at the Asians, they humbled themselves and learnt. Today they are a powerful force. Strong to challenge the same Brits. But we are here, still looting each other to death and blaming the Brits who have left us years ago. |
iykofias:You earlier wrote that in June did the British didn't use Russian gas... I said the Brits don't use Russian gas. What I said was not wrong. The 4% Russian gas that I referenced was a figure for last year. I replied you when you said Russia should turn off gas and freeze the Brits Thank God you said yourself that as at June the Brits didn't use Russian gas and I joined you by saying as at last year they only imported 4% of Russian gas. That is very insignificant if you want Putin to freeze Britain. That can't freeze them |
iykofias:The import is 4% of gas. How significant is that to the economy of Britain compared to over 45% of Germany Russia's gas has little or no impact. So Putin can't blackmail UK with gas. Hope you see the % there. |
Patriotsleague:Even me No beefs....I admired her virtue of service and commitment to her people. It's something our leaders here don't have. That's something we can learn as a people. Our leaders own na to thief from their own people. |
Patriotsleague:But our people day shout colonialism. Pay respect and move on. If you get your chance, beat them Brits in combat or economic warfare. Not all these plenty noise they are making on twitter |
iykofias:How come inflation has crippled us already. Do we use Russian gas also. The world today is a global economy. The way it has been built, if one thing is happening in one corner, it affects everyone. Remember the days of the militants Yes, as small scale as it was, it was affecting the price of oil in the global market. Now imagine if Nigeria is at war today.... |
GodPrince:Brits don't use Russian gas They have their own gas of the Scottish coast |
Agbebakun22:The whole money Dem spray no reach $2k |
STPEACE10:Yeah. I understand that too. But Tinubu na jaga jaga Muslim Na owambe muslim |
No be say the ordinary life of Agbadorian go better. But no matter how bad it is It can't go to Atiku. Never. Scatter all the vote. E better say Emi Lokan get am than Atiku. I no care |
If your boss no fit step down for Obi We go scatter the vote E better say Old man Tinubu get am Than another Northerner. Anyhow we see the country then, we go take am like that. If I fit survive Buhari, I fit survive Emi Lokan..... Power must come south..... |
Olosho advice me to always use condoms that most girls carry sickness. Especially the ones we call girlfriends... That's a good advice from an Olosho |
FatherOfJesus:It's simple economics. Nearness to port and access to raw materials. It's just like the auto industry in Detroit, when it left, Detroit became a shadow of itself. Even Warri was booming when the big oil multinationals where there, immediately they left, Warri became a shadow of itself. No sentiments attached, but Lagos is highly commercial because of her ports. Even Singapore was built from the ports and there's nothing to be ashamed about. Another example is how Hong Kong was before China's industrialization, now compare Hong Kong's growth and that of cities like Shenzhen and Guangzhou doing catch up so rapidly. It's different from what it use to be..... It's not like the Yorubas did it better or the only ones who can do it best. If they had the sole knowledge, they would have replicated it all over Yoruba land on the coastlines of Ogun and Ondo. Even Port Novo. At least Port Novo is a Yoruba land in Benin republic. |
ImperialYoruba:You did not fully understand me did you. I likened Lagos to Hong Kong being the first industrialized region in China under British rule but owned by the Chinese. It was Hong Kong's growth that led to the development of Shenzhen rapidly the same way Lagos growth is influencing growth in Ogun state borders with her. In my quote I never said Lagos was autonomous. You're the one saying it...... And for the history of Lagos, well we all know that Lagos (not the whole state) was under the tributary of the Kingdom of Benin for about 300 years or so. The Oba of Lagos said it....the Ijebus can lay claim easily to Lagos than the person in Yagba who has actually had no history with that place. |
Well I think in terms of accomodation, the Igbos across the Niger need to be more accommodative. There's this perception about them that non easterners can't even stay in that region and own properties. We don't need to argue about this. It's truth. They need to open up also in this aspect. Igbos easily settle down and acquire properties in other regions but it can't be same for non Igbos across the Niger. As for most Yorubas shouting about Lagos.... Bruuhhhh, Lagos is like a semi autonomous region. Lagos was like Hong Kong before Chinese development. Many hands built Lagos and yes the west is also tribalistic but they cannot stretch that tribalistic arm towards Lagos. They are trying to do it in this election but bruuhh, shit won't work. Even people from the Lagos sef don't even shout the way other Yorubas from elsewhere are shouting. Like my family has business in Lagos and we have properties in Lagos. Omo, you can't tell me shit...if you carry your agberoism near my family house, I go off you. Ogun day kill who won try am. Yes we respect indigenous population of Lagos and we respect friendly Yorubas who are open minded about Lagos. Everyone is contributing their quota to Lagos. Trust me only Yorubas won't have been able to build Lagos to this stage given present reality of things. If they would have, then by now other Yoruba cities or ports would be thriving. Even Port Novo in Benin republic would be thriving. So it's not like Yorubas are experts at this Lagos thing. Nope, they're not....I repeat nope. Lagos is a culmination of many factors of which the best of leaderships from the yorubas has had to be provided combined together with hosting of the nation's elite which has worked together. Hence the developmental strides.... After the election, all of us go rest. Life continues |
In as much as I would not want a northern presidency, you see some people in the south west are beginning to feel too proud. They feel like they can get it always whenever it comes south. They don't want to share. I remember how the whole north joined hands together to get power for Buhari in 2015. All the big powers. Now that it's turn of the south, we have a northern rival, we no fit put heads together and say oya you go.... One Old man said it his turn. He must go. No wahala Baba... Go ooooooooooo |
Pandev:That's the problem Are we building strong institutions or are we building strong individuals. You build individuals who are like square pegs in round holes. How has Rocket science Fashola been in his seat as minister of Power. How has Aregbesola done...keep calling names. These people will die and poverty continues..... leadership is different from mentorship. I have served in a position of leadership, so I know what it means to leave office and have a working system....let me tell you the truth, if you have a system that works, most political godfathers like Tinubu will die out and largely fade out of the scene. How can you leave government almost 16 years ago and you still control the apparatus of that government. You have a hand on it's throat and can cause chaos to that system so that those who come after you must always run back to you for help and then you play the savior again. So that you remain relevant in the scheme of things. Well maybe you guys over there love it. That's manipulating the system. When you build proper systems, the system will balance and take care of itself. With time these people won't have to call you whenever chaos arise because they have aquired the skills over the years to handle it. This applies to all those who support godfatherism that only builds individuals in this country. A strong and working system should be what we strive to build not just strong individuals. Almost all the strong individuals Tinubu nominated for Buhari have done poorly. Even his choice of Buhari itself is another poor choice. Everyday politicians in this country are very very selfish. They are so many of them in student union governments. So I don't expect anything less. This country is jagajaga |
So presently I think I am in this stage. I am below 30 and my BP is high. Back then when I was in school and wasn't really worry about many things, I did my bP and I found it to be 120/80. Ever since I fell I'll one time and I started worrying about life after school and many things. My BP spiked. Last I checked it was 138/??. I feel my heart pounding sometimes even without doing anything. I have come to observe that it is genetic in my family. So I try to avoid eating salts and drinking alcohol as much as I can. The worrying part is what I haven't handled well. I am the first son and I have so much I worry about. This is not just me, I think many young men out there face this same issue... Something needs to be done about it |
Omo Lagos life is too fast for my liking. I can't stay there. How I go day jump enter moving bus...Omo, I see people chasing bus and jumping inside. For Benin Bus day even reverse come meet you... With 300-400k you don get good two bedroom apartments for new areas in Benin. If it's the old parts you want to stay in Benin, you can get cheap houses for 200k sef. Transportation is cheaper there also. You already have free foodstuffs Abeg give me link to this kind of job na... Abeg |
Karnice600:I was surprised when he said Ukraine has capable army of one of the best armies... some people will just be any how....in terms of military capabilities, Ukrainian army no even get tools reach Egyptian Army. Ukrainian army that is rag tag....they only started upgrading after Russia annexed Crimea from them.. That guy day talk spoil |
Goddson:How can you say Ukraine had the best of army in Europe....Ukraine that ran away from Crimea in 2014. Do you know what the best army would have done by now.... Ukraine army were only being trained in combat roles on how to use western weapons, they were not given Western weapons en mass before the war started. The Turks are by far even superior fighting force than the Ukrainians. How much does Ukraine have to buy weapons. The Ukrainians are nothing militarily compared to the Russians... that's why people are supposed that they are holding this long....is this not the Ukraine that Western intelligence told of an imminent attack and yet she was not even ready.... Russia was not even fighting her mate |
I day shame for una oooo So wetin come bring all the insults come now I no even understand. Them release statistics I day see tribal insults day fly up and down... Before I use to feel that it was Hausa and Igbos that hate each other until recently. It seems the Yorubas and Igbos have perpetual hatred for each other. Hatred they inherited from the politics of Zik and Awo... You guys can keep being at each other's throats. There's nothing wrong about healthy competition. Make una use una head. Una just day cap rubbish for this thread... |
. And that's why your thought process is laughable
