DUTSE – Governor Sule Lamido’s political woes may have deepened following the plan by his deputy,Alhaji Ahmad Mahmud to dump him for the opposition All Progressives Congress Party. Baring any last minute change, the deputy governor will be received along with some Lamido’s loyalists to the APC today , by chairman of the party, Alhaji Ado Sani Kiri, party’s gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji Badaru Abubakar and other APC chieftains in the state at his Gumel ward. Already, the Deputy Governor purported defection has triggered apprehension in the PDP camp as many of its supporters who spoke with Vanguard on condition of anonymity expressed surprise describing his action as “betrayal of trust.” Ahmed Mahmud was a two-term deputy governor of Jigawa state who was elected with Sule Lamido on the platform of the PDP. Other prominent politicians expected to join the APC are the two ex-Jigawa governors, Ibrahim Saminu Turaki and Ali Saad Birnin-Kudu, Ex-Senator Bello Maitama, some serving commissioners, special advisers and special assistants. source: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/04/jigawa-deputy-governor-others-defect-to-apc/ |
Before his presidency, he was a guerilla fighter for Tupamaros, which acted like “Robin hood.” They literally robbed evil banks, gun clubs, and other businesses to give to the poor. He truly believed that his value was not in gaining more money, it was in the wellbeing of his country and people. He was imprisoned 2 times for a total of 14 years and shot 6 times after an escape attempt, But he still continues to fight for the people even in his high office now as president of Uruguay. |
Even though he is known as the poorest president, he strongly disagrees. He says, “I’m not the poorest president. The poorest is the one who needs a lot to live… My lifestyle is a consequence of my wounds. I’m the son of my history. There have been years when I would have been happy just to have a mattress.” This president’s example is a testament to how we should live our lives. We don’t need more things to be happy. In fact, some of the most wealthy people in the world, have their wealth stored in the currency of unselfishness, kindness, and true love. Maybe its time for a change? |
Jose’s protection consists of two guards and his 3 legged dog named Manuela.

His part time farming job, keeps him aware of the struggles and life that most other people of his country go though. He also grows and then sells flowers from his farm. You can see him frequently driving his old 1987 Volkswagon Beetle. He doesn’t need a fancy Bentley, because he doesn’t care about having a extravagant appearance. His people are what matters and what matters are his people.
|
…And this is where he lives, on a farm with his wife and dog. He is also working to change the fancy presidential house into a museum that pays honor to past presidents. There’s no reason for money, fame, and a nice place to sleep when you can be humble and live on a farm. This president lives the life!

You might not believe it, but Jose Mujica, president of Uruguay since 2010, is known to be the world’s poorest president. Jose donates more then of 90% of his $12,000 per month salary to benefit the poor and to help small entrepreneurs. If we need more of anything in this world, it would be more people like this! This man doesn’t put value on his appearance or clothes. He is criticized for his posture and clothes, but Jose puts more value on other things in life instead. Before his presidency, he was a guerilla fighter for Tupamaros, which acted like “Robin hood.” They literally robbed evil banks, gun clubs, and other businesses to give to the poor. When the history of President Goodluck Jonathan is written, a lot of chapters will be dedicated to his numerous achievements in sports. It was during his regime that Nigeria won her first Africa Cup of Nations in 19 years, remarkably, outside the shores of the country. Before then, Nigeria won the trophy in 1980 and the last triumph in Tunisia ‘ 94 among others. Definitely, General Mohammadu Buhari has a tall order ahead of him if his predecessor’s track record is anything to go by. Luckily, the President-elect is not a fresher when it comes to governance. As a former Head of State(under the military), Buhari welcomed the 1985 all-conquering Golden Eaglets from China with the first FIFA/JVC U-16 World Cup. That the team is known today as Golden Eaglets was a coinage by General Buhari when he received the team at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos. Nduka Ugbade who captained that historic team is currently an assistant to the national U-20 coach, Manu Garba. He was also part of the crew that won the FIFA U-17 World Cup in UAE. Buhari’s love for sports has not been loud, but it is on record that he made a surprise appearance at the Abuja National Stadium when Nigeria hosted Brazil in an international friendly. It was during President Olusegun Obasanjo’s regime when Buhari was in the opposition. No one can say, for sure, where the retired General would position sports in the scheme of things as throughout his campaign for this election, not a word was said on sports. The President-elect must however note that sports form a very critical sector in the life of the nation. Those who actively engage in sports are the youth who are the future of the nation. Sports today is more that just a pastime. Sport is a multi billion dollar industry which can offer employment to millions of our youths. The sports sector deserves the best brains. Seasoned brains that can turn the fortunes of our sports around. Sports is practical and results are the only determining factor that influences team selection, appointments. The President-elect must therefore avoid considerations other than excellence in making appointments to the sector. source: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/04/gen-buhari-and-sports/

The Young Democratic Party, YDP, has called for the immediate cancellation of the 2015 elections, saying its exclusion by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from the ballot papers fell short of the Electoral law. National leader of YDP, Henry Nwabueze in a statement made available in Abuja, said the Prof. Jega led INEC deliberately refused to include YDP in the ballot even when it was clear that YDP had fulfilled the requirements to be so included in the ballots having been proclaimed a political party. “In compliance with the law, YDP submitted the list of its candidates to INEC for this 2015 General elections. Today the Young Democratic Party regret to inform Nigerians that INEC has failed because it unlawfully refused to include YDP in the 2015 General election Ballot paper. By this, INEC is practicing democracy of the few, by the few and for the few. Accordingly, YDP calls on the idependent INEC to cancel the just concluded March 28, 2015 Presidential and National Assembly elections and refrain from announcing the results, including the names of the winners or losers in that election. “Indeed, by virtue of the Electoral Act, Section 78, subsection 4, YDP became a registered political party in Nigeria as of May 2, 2014. Although INEC is fully aware of this fact and inspite of numerous notifications, it nevertheless proceeded, against common sense and reason to exclude YDP in this 2015 General election. ” This action of INEC is deliberate, violative of the Electoral Act, violative of the constitution and quite frankly, offensive to all notions of fair play and justice. In view of the unlawful exclusion of YDP a lawfully registered political party in violation of the electoral act and a subsisting federal high court judgement, the leadership of YDP and its NEC has resolved to proceed to court to seek for cancellation of the March 28 presidential election and conduct of fresh polls to include YDP,” Nwabueze stated. It said by so doing, the INEC had disenfranchised several Nigerians and infringed on their fundamental rights of association as well as the right to function as a political party. “We cannot as law abiding citizens, members and leaders of a duly registered political party fold our arms and allow INEC to deny us our constitutionally guaranteed right to present and field candidates for elective offices in Nigeria,” the YDP national leader stated. source: http://leadership.ng/news/421928/exclusion-ydp-calls-for-cancellation-of-poll-results |

10 types of people we are going to meet at the polling unit on election day; 1 The gentlemen/ladies These are the types of people the will visit the polling unit just to fulfill their mission which is to vote peacefully and after that, go back to their home without any problem. 2 The elders These people(mostly men) are always between the age 70-80+ you will always find them sitting under a tree or any shaded area within the polling centre lecturing young men about the history of politics and how the country was going from bad to good and vice versa. 3 The I Too Know (ITKs) These are the categories of people that you will see jumping from one place to the other as if they are INEC chairman. You will never see them at rest, they can even go to the extent of teaching the INEC officials their works. 4 The ushers You will always see these categories of people on the queue looking very quiet but when they see a person trying to manipulate the queue, they will just walk to him/her and say something like “Oga, please go and join the queue at the back, we that have being on the line are not animals” they will never leave you until you do the needful. 5 The coordinators They are more like the ushers but something special about them is that they are not always on the queue, if they see you trying to sneak into the queue 6 The confused ones Looking at them only, you will deduce that they are confused. They will always be looking as if someone is about to kidnap them or you will always see them asking questions silly like “Brother, will they collect this PVC from us after we are through?” or “Sister, shebi Buhari the PDP presidential candidate?” They are always annoying. 7 The VIPs These are always the big men of the hood, they will just drive down to the polling unit with their expensive ride and walk up to the INEC officials with a bottle water in their hands and do all the necessary stuffs and drive back home immediately 8 The spacebookers I usually wonder if that’s what they do to make money on that day or they are just naturally mumus. They will be on the queue for hours and when it’s almost their turn to vote, someone will just come from nowhere and take their place then you will see them leaving. 9 The lookers/observers Some are not even there to vote but to watch people arguing or fighting, you will always see them at alert with their phones getting ready to snap/video any funny or fist throwing event that takes place at the unit. 10 The fighters Their own mission is to come and cause violence at the polling unit, they will mistakenly hit you or march you, instead of saying sorry, they will turn it to fight. Be careful when dealing with them 11 The traders I usually love the courage of these people coz any opportunity they see, they will use it to promote their business. You will see them early in the morning already offloading bags of pure water, snacks, groundnut, coolers of rice and other foods some will even bring their tables to roast boli(roasted plantains) at the polling unit, they are always desperate to make money. 12 The pickpocketers One of my teachers defined them as “Dem no be thieves ooo but if they pass, something go lost”. All they need to do is to just look at your pocket and they will explore everything inside it then you will see them passing your side 24/7 or trying to form familiarity with you, my brother be watchful or else they will steal you sef. keep calm and vote wisely May God help us.
