The worse mistake you would ever make is confronting the supposed "fetish-girlfriend".Her likely intention is to cause enmity between your brother and the both of you for life. Tell your brother to his face and if he acts like he's jinxed, prayer is the only hope. After God,fear women. |
Bandeco:Funny enough, you need only #2.5M to study in Germany to prove you won't turn out to be a liability to the govt. |
It is actually more than that even for students. As of today students need to document 3.8million naira as living expenses for 1year. Non-students need times two of this to be granted a resident permit to seek employment. Funny enough, you need only #2.5M to study in Germany to prove you won't turn out to be a liability to the govt. |
One thing people don't understand about studying in tuition free countries is that the standard of living is kinda obnoxious. E.g Norway,Germany and public universities in some Scandinavian nations. So before you apply, have it in mind that what you may spend annually is much more than you expected. |

Sergey Mavrodi, founder of MMM, has written an open letter to the Nigerian government to justify the importance of the popular Ponzi scheme. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the letter was displayed on the page of all participants of the scheme. Mavrodi warned the federal government that if the Ponzi scheme collapses, millions of Nigerians will suffer, noting that “MMM is their only means of livelihood”. He stated that the money being made from the scheme was being redistributed among Nigerians as a way of “restoring social justice”. The letter reads in part: “So far MMM has come under a constant attack from you. In this regard, I would like to ask you a few simple questions. Since you are concerned with the interests of millions of your fellow citizens, I hope that you would be so kind to answer them. “What are you trying to get? Do you want the MMM System to collapse and millions of people to suffer? Who will support them then if now MMM is their only means of livelihood? Will you? You even don’t pay wages to people? Or might you not care about them? Might you be using a trendy topic to make a good name for yourselves? What will you say to a mother who will have no money to buy food for her child? Will you let her child die for the sake of the higher interests of the economy? “You say that MMM is a scam. What is the scam here, if all members are warned in advance about all the risks, the possible and impossible ones? They know there are no investments at all. The warning is a red text on a yellow background placed on most prominent place of the website. “You say that MMM is bad. Why? Yes, it produces nothing, but nothing gets out of the country either. The money is just redistributed among the citizens of Nigeria. It gets from those who are richer to poorer ones, in this way restoring social justice. What’s wrong with that? “You have repeatedly stated that “it should be investigated!.. researched!..” It means you know nothing about this System yet; you even haven’t understood how it works. “And finally. If you know what is right for people, why is the life so bad in the country?” He further noted that the MMM “has been working in Nigeria for a year, and according to your estimates, the total number of members now is about 3 million people”. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) have previously warned Nigerians against participating in the scheme while the house of representatives also ordered an investigation into the operation of the scheme, in October. source: https://www.thecable.ng/mmm-founder-writes-buhari-says-you-know-nothing-about-our-system

ABUJA—President Muhammadu Buhari last night expressed optimism that the proposed 2017 budget would not end the current economic recession facing Nigeria but would also shoot the country into economic prosperity. He also enjoined Nigerians not to be deterred by the reality of the “temporary challenges” but should be strengthened by them. The encouragement were the highlights of the president’s address to Nigerians on the occasion of 2016 Eid-el-maulud celebrations today. Meanwhile, the president who wished Nigerians especially muslims a happy Eid-el-maulud celebration is billed to lay the budget estimates before a joint session of the National Assembly on Wednesday. The address read in full: “Dear Compatriots, again the calendar of life has brought us into another period of celebration, and deep reflection. Celebration, because we are marking the birth of Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him), and deep reflection, because it is another opportunity of pausing, taking a deep breath and reflecting on the current realities before us. “First of all, I wish all Muslims a happy and memorable celebration of the birth of the great Prophet, through whose teachings, particularly on peaceful living, tolerance, sobriety, generosity, sacrifice and honesty, and wisdom, the nation has gained immensely in building a harmonious and prosperous society. “The universal truths of the Prophet’s values remain unchanged. “Against all odds, we have used these pillars of strength in securing a just and fair society, and our efforts are beginning to yield dividends in curbing terrorism, corruption and other crimes that devalue our humanity. “The reality of the temporary challenges should not undermine our hope, reverse our collective will to succeed, or divide us; rather it should remind us of why we need to stay together, fight together and succeed together. “As we look forward to 2017 with hope and huge expectations, let me assure you that with collective dedication and hard work, we will overcome the mountain of economic difficulties, and return our country to the path of prosperity.” source: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/12/2017-budgetll-end-nigerias-economic-woes-buhari/

President Muhammadu Buhari may soon carry out a minor cabinet shake-up with the imminent exit of the Minister of Environment, Amina Mohammed, from his administration, THE PUNCH has learnt. Our correspondent however learnt on Sunday that the exercise might not be carried out until early next year when Mohammed is expected to leave. The Secretary-General-elect of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, was said to have appointed the minister as his Deputy. A government source told our correspondent that Mohammed had already made the development known to Buhari and some of her colleagues. “For her, she would have loved to stay back and continue to serve this administration but this new appointment is a big one and is also good for her. Unfortunately for us, she has to leave in January,” the source said. Mohammed who represents Gombe State in the cabinet acted as the Senior Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria on the Millennium Development Goals after serving three presidents over a period of six years. In 2005, she was charged with the coordination of Nigeria’s debt relief funds toward the achievement of the MDGs. From 2002-2005, Mohammed coordinated the Task Force on Gender and Education for the UN Millennium Project. By the time she will be leaving the cabinet in January, the number of vacant positions in the cabinet would have risen to two. Since the March 6 death of a former Minister of State, Labour and Employment, Mr. James Ocholi (SAN), Buhari has yet to name a replacement for the politician. The situation is already causing agitation among groups and individuals from Kogi State where the deceased hailed from. Ocholi died alongside his wife and son in an auto crash that occurred on March 6 on the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway. Since his death, Kogi State has remained without a representative in the Federal Executive Council. This is contrary to the provision of the Constitution that stipulates that all the 36 states of the federation must be represented in the cabinet. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, on Sunday said Mohammed remained a minister. Shehu said any development on the matter would be formally conveyed to Nigerians. “There is a lot of exuberance on the Internet concerning a UN job for Mrs. Amina Mohammed. She remains our Minister of Environment. “If there is anything on this that is released officially, we will let Nigerians know. I’m pleased to know that she enjoys so much goodwill,” the presidential spokesman wrote on his Facebook page on Sunday. source: http://punchng.com/environment-minister-set-leave-buharis-govt/

Gambian leader Yahya Jammeh has rejected the result of the presidential election held earlier this month, a week after admitting defeat. He said he now recommends fresh and transparent elections which will be officiated by a God-fearing and independent electoral commission Speaking on state TV, Mr Jammeh cited “abnormalities” in the vote and called for fresh elections. Mr Jammeh, who came to power in a coup in 1994, suffered a shock defeat to Adama Barrow, who won more than 45% of the vote. The US “strongly condemned” Mr Jammeh’s statement. “This action is a reprehensible and unacceptable breach of faith with the people of The Gambia and an egregious attempt to undermine a credible election process and remain in power illegitimately,” said state department spokesman Mark Toner. Mr Barrow, a property developer, is due to take office in late January. Mai Ahmad Fatty, the head of his transition team, told Reuters they were “consulting on what to do”, adding: “As far as we are concerned, the people have voted. We will maintain peace and stability and not let anyone provoke us into violence.” The Gambia is the smallest country on mainland Africa, with a population of fewer than two million. Mr Jammeh said that he now rejected the results of the election “in totality”. “After a thorough investigation, I have decided to reject the outcome of the recent election,” Mr Jammeh said. “I lament serious and unacceptable abnormalities which have reportedly transpired during the electoral process. “I recommend fresh and transparent elections which will be officiated by a God-fearing and independent electoral commission.” source: punchng.com/breaking-gambian-president-rejects-election-result-earlier-accepted/

Economic Gurus have issued a stern warning to Mr.President against taking a loan when we are yet to offset the present ones thereby leaving a financial burden on the future generations .......I comment my reserve! |
ABUJA — The Federal Government has said it was looking the way of the International Monetary Fund, IMF, and the World Bank for some of its external borrowings to boost the economy out of recession. This came as the Debt Management Office, DMO, said, yesterday, it had raised the N1.18 trillion, which is the domestic component of the 2016 budgeted borrowing. According to the government, both institutions have some “concessionary terms” attached to borrowing packages. A statement signed by Media Adviser to the Minister of Budget and National Planning, James Akpandem, quoted the Minister, Senator Udo Udoma, as stating this at a meeting with the Assistant Secretary for Multilateral Affairs of the Trade and Policy Department at the French Treasury, Mr Guillaume Chabert, in Abuja. Udoma re-emphasised that Nigeria’s borrowings were solely to fund infrastructure projects, adding that “the stimulative effect of investing in infrastructure was enormous and was the surest way of setting the country on the path of growth and sustainable development.” The minister told the Assistant Secretary, who was accompanied by the French Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Denys Gauer, that the Federal Government is working on a National Economic Recovery and Growth Plan, which is tailored to move the country’s economy out of recession and set it on a growth path. “Our plan is that we should be able, within that plan period (2017– 2020), to achieve not less than 7% growth. Plugging leakages “For one to get out of economic recession, we will need to harness resources by plugging revenue leakages and by looking at new revenue sources in order to generate the resources required to spend our way out of recession, particularly focused on infrastructure,” he added. The minister explained that while government was exploring other means of generating revenue internally, “we will need to borrow, part of which has to be sourced internationally from sources that can give concessionary terms, like the International Monetary Fund, IMF, and World Bank. “We know we need to look at upgrading our oil revenue in order to generate the resources to spend our way out of dependence on oil; which means we have to focus our attention on reducing the disruptions in the Niger Delta, so that we can get our production back to a minimum of 2.2 million barrels per day. That is the fastest way to generate resources.” He pointed out that government alone could not do it, saying that was the reason government emphasised on creation of an enabling environment for effective private sector participation in growing the economy. He said the government was also going into partnership with the private sector in critical areas of infrastructural provision and concessioning. He said: “Our intention is to make the private sector to lead the way in social housing. We will kick-start the process and intend to make some provision for it in the 2017 Budget. Then we are also looking at manufacturing. ‘’One of the ways is by developing export processing zones where we will have all the required infrastructure including power, rail and security, to encourage manufacturers to relocate to Nigeria. “We want to make sure that the growth will be an inclusive one. In the past, we used to have growth that was not inclusive. We were growing but poverty was increasing. We want to make sure that the growth is inclusive. One of the ways is to give preference to labour intensive activities to create jobs, which is the fastest way to reduce poverty. In addition to that, we will continue with our social intervention projects.” The Assistant Secretary, Mr Chabert, while appreciating the economic challenges the country was currently facing, said the French government would be willing to support Nigeria surmount the challenges. “It is in our interest that Nigeria succeeds,’’ Chabert said, promising to make some input into the country’s economic plan once the framework was made available. Meanwhile, the Debt Management Office (DMO) has raised the N1.18 trillion which is the domestic component of the 2016 budgeted borrowing. Director-General of the DMO, Dr Abraham Nwankwo, disclosed this while receiving some senators on oversight visit to his office in Abuja yesterday. He said that the balance of N635 billion in the 2016 borrowing plan would come from the African Development Bank, AfDB, which had pledged $1 billion out of which $600 million had been released, as well as other sources. Nwankwo admitted that in spite of the effort of the federal government to secure the rest, it was having challenges in that regard. He said government “can fall back on domestic borrowing”, adding that the “DMO is working to see that the $1 billion Eurobond is mobilised by second quarter of 2017.” The federal government, he said, had been servicing its debt as at when due and that it had paid N1. 09 trillion of the debt service obligation for the year. “Nigeria is in a very strong position to service its debts because of our debt sustainability analysis which ensures that we make sure we do not go beyond the threshold of borrowing and to avoid unsustainable debt. We will build a sustainable economy in the next 3-5 years. “The $30 billion loan will be borrowed over a three year period not at once. Drawdown of the loan will be done based on the progress of the work and it is essentially for infrastructure because we don’t have revenue at hand to provide infrastructure.” The Chairman, Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debts, Sen. Shehu Sani, who led the team, charged the DMO to be effective in the management of the nation’s debt. According to him, the legislature “will henceforth pay attention to the agreement on terms and conditions for loans obtained by government to forestall a situation where Nigerians are unnecessarily shortchanged. “A casual observation of construction sites of projects funded from EXIM Bank of China reveals that only foreigners are the engineers, architects and other professionals. Nigerians are only engaged as unskilled workers. This situation is unacceptable. Such agreement must be in tandem with our laws and should serve our collective interest ultimately.”

Makurdi— As politicians begin realignment towards the 2019 political permutations, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has said that he is not in talks with anyone or group to join the so-called mega party being planned to wrest power from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC. Although the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, is yet to register any party known as Mega Party, reports of a big party being planned by bigwigs from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and the ruling APC, have been gaining grounds lately. One of the reports carried early in the week, quoted some unnamed top political sources as saying that the Mega Party was targeting 15 of the 36 Nigerian governors, among them, Samuel Ortom of Benue State, in its bid to take over government from Buhari in 2019. However, Ortom, yesterday, lashed out at those linking him with the so-called Mega Party, saying that he is not one of those keen on leaving the APC for any other party. Ortom, who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, said he had not met with anyone and was not planning to leave the APC for any other party. “We wish to categorically state that Governor Ortom is not part of such a plan. The governor, as the standard bearer of All Progressives Congress, APC, was popularly elected by the people of Benue State and is still enjoying maximum support of the people as he continues to deliver good governance, so he could not have been involved in any clandestine plot to launch another political party. “Governor Samuel Ortom is a loyal member of the APC and is in full support of the leadership of party under the National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun. “The governor also believes that the leadership provided by President Muhammadu Buhari is what the country needs to overcome the current challenges and is committed to supporting Mr. President to succeed.” “The Governor says the whole world is applauding President Buhari for his anti-corruption crusade, integrity and discipline so what the President deserves is support from Nigerians and not distraction. “The APC has brought real positive change in all ramifications of the life of the country, so I do not foresee any other political party coming to do half of what the government of our great party APC is already doing. Nigerians know that it is easier to destroy than to build. President Muhammadu Buhari is rebuilding the country and I stand solidly with him and I will continue to support him. “Governor Ortom should therefore be excluded from any further discussion or news report regarding the new mega party. The Governor is busy with selfless service to Benue State at the moment and does not need any distraction. “We urge all Nigerians and Benue People in particular to disregard the said report in its entirety,” the governor said. source: www.vanguardngr.com/2016/12/2019-count-mega-party-gov-ortom/

The Chairman, National Population Commission, Chief Eze Duruiheoma, has said that 1.5 million ad hoc workers will be engaged for the forthcoming national population census exercise in 2018. He added that the third phase of the Enumeration Area Demarcation would take place in one selected local government in each of the 36 states and one from the Federal Capital Territory. Speaking after a workshop and training programme in Akwanga area of Nasarawa State, Duruiheoma explained that the fieldwork for the third phase of the EAD would commence in January 2017 and would last for three weeks. He however stressed that the outcome of the EAD exercise would not determine the population of any community, local government or state and neither would it undermine the outcome of the exercise. He said, “To us at the commission, getting the 2018 Census EAD is not just an option but an absolute necessity in the quest to deliver to the nation an accurate, reliable, acceptable and verifiable census. “We however call on all state and local governments, traditional institutions and communities to support the commission in carrying out the 2018 Census EAD by allowing unfettered access to facilities and places to be demarcated. Meanwhile, a UNICEF Child Protection Specialist, Mrs. Sharon Oladiji, revealed that in spite of the activities of the Boko Haram insurgents in the North-East, the zone had the highest number of birth registration, while Oyo, Edo and Delta states had the least. She commended the NPC on its sustained efforts to improve birth registration coverage and strengthening of the civil registration and vital statistics systems. source: punchng.com/2018-census-fg-engage-1-5-million-ad-hoc-workers/
