There are a dozen things the average Nigerian considers weird that are absolutely normal in many other countries. Here are four of those I can think of now: Why visit a psychiatrists? People who study psychology in college mostly end up working in other departments in the government, there are not many jobs for them in Nigeria. In fact, I haven't seen a Nigerian who says "I'm going to see a psychologist." Majority of Nigerians don't feel safe sharing their burden with a total stranger, neither will they take advice from such people. They would rather talk to friends. About the only people, the average Nigerian listen to are banks, pastors and native doctors. I'm of the opinion that more than half of Nigerians have serious psychological issues but chose to ignore them. Thank God serial killings are rare here. Why does anyone need a Dentist? You will have a hard time explaining to my grandpa why you went to study only the teeth instead of the whole body. These people only wait for serious surgery, that's the only time most Nigerians remember them. They consider these folks doctor but not doctor. They are not real to us. Real Doctors treat every part of the body, hence in Nigeria, even a dentist does abortion, treats eyes and other ailments to support his ministry(family). Why safety officers? This is being embraced in large companies now, but back then who cares about safety? I worked in a company where the safety boss had to constantly encourage, warn and threaten workers to keep their hard hats on their head only for them to take it off and hold it in their hand immediately after he leaves. "I'm not blind, I won't hit my head intentionally at any hard surface, what does this man take me for, a fool?" Nigerians believe in prayers more than safety. After powerful prayers— it's powerful because people shout and sweat while praying, they are ready to face the world without worry thereafter. Come and see James Bond drivers in Lagos, alone—only to scream Jesus before an accident. Praying in total silence: How do you pray without making a sound? Your neighbours don't even know you as a prayer warrior? The witches in your family/village have to beware of you before God even sends them fire. The average Nigerian prays with blood and sweat. The Bible said talk to God but the average Nigerian shouts to God. You're considered a weak Christian if you don't pray that way. In fact, no Nigerian, living in a Christian dominated state will say he hasn't overheard a neighbour praying.

•TEN YEARS of the Oscar Ceremony was vetoed. • His biopic has been cancelled. • Bad Boys 4 has been cancelled. • The Fast & Loose movie he was shooting for Netflix was cancelled. • The movie I AM LEGEND 2 no longer wants to work with him and Michael B Jordan was offered the role. • Was expelled from the Academy of Motion Picture Sciences and Arts (did not resign, was fired). • His wife did not support him, in an interview with AMERICAN WEEKLY she stated that she did not ask to be saved and called him "EXAGGERATED". • Chris Rock's brothers are looking for him, they publicly said "We're going to finish you off". • No producer wants to work with him on any kind of project. • Drama series BELL AIR, the reboot of the Bell Air Prince, is being slammed by criticism. • He is currently in rehab to control his depression and tantrums... I think all these is, because he is from the black descent too.

Didier Drogba failed to become president of Ivory Coast's football federation (FIF) as Saturday's long-delayed elections were won by Yacine Idriss Diallo. Former Chelsea striker Drogba, named in the Premier League's Hall of Fame this week, was ousted in the first round of voting with just under a fifth of the vote. In the second round, Diallo, a businessman and current FIF executive member, squeezed out former FIF vice-president Sory Diabaté by 63 votes to 61. Saturday's election in the political capital Yamoussoukro had been postponed several times since 2020, primarily over the ongoing issues over the eligibility of certain candidates, with Drogba prominent among them. After Fifa appointed a normalisation committee to oversee Ivorian football, Drogba's candidacy - initially rejected over whether he had the requisite number of official backers - was eventually accepted. Drogba played more than 100 times for the Elephants, including at the 2006 and 2010 World Cups, but was told in August 2020 that he was not eligible to stand in the election. After intervention from Fifa, the 44-year-old, who won four Premier League titles, four FA Cups and the Champions League across two spells with Chelsea, retained his hopes of running the game in the West African country. Yet Ivory Coast's all-time top scorer was eliminated with only 21 votes in the first round, when Diallo (59 votes) and Diabaté (50 votes) made it through to the second round. Drogba's achievements and ambitious programme for the development of football in Ivory Coast had raised his popularity, and after his defeat many of his supporters expressed their anger on social media on Saturday. "The presidents of clubs have just killed Ivorian football, by eliminating Didier Drogba," one user, called Rosana225, said. "I hope that Ivorians will not take revenge by boycotting the 2023 Afcon." Diallo has a mandate of four years and the organisation of the 2023 African Cup of Nations, which Ivory Coast is hosting, will be its first major challenge. Ivory Coast are two-time champions of Africa, having won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1992 and 2015.

[b]Guns overtook car crashes to become the leading cause of death for US children and teenagers in 2020, new research shows.[b] Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows that over 4,300 young Americans died of firearm-related injuries in 2020. While suicides contributed to the toll, the data shows that homicides form the majority of gun-related deaths. More than 390 million guns are owned by US civilians. According to the research - which was published this week in the New England Journal Medicine - the rise in gun-related deaths among Americans between the ages of one and 19 was part of an overall 33.4% increase in firearm homicides nationwide. Homicides, the study noted, disproportionately impact young Americans. Over the same time period, the rate of firearm suicides in the US rose by 1.1%. The overall rate of gun deaths of all reasons - suicide, homicide, unintentional and undetermined - among children and teenagers rose by 29.5%, more than twice that of the wider population. "We continue to fail to protect our youth from a preventable cause of death," said a research letter published in the journal on Wednesday. The rate of gun-related deaths per 100,000 residents rose among both men and women and across ethnic demographics between 2019 and 2020, with the largest increase among black Americans. In past years, gun-related deaths were second only to car crashes as the leading cause of death among young Americans. Car deaths, however, have fallen over time and in 2020 approximately 3,900 Americans under 19 died in vehicle crashes. Incidents of drug overdoses and poisonings rose 83.6% between 2019 and 2020, and now are the third leading cause of death in that age group. A separate study published earlier in April found that 954 young people died of overdoses in 2020, compared to 492 in 2019. Gun violence in the US has increased since the Covid-19 pandemic began in early 2020. "The reasons for the increase are unclear," the research letter said. "It cannot be assumed that firearm-related mortality will later revert to pre-pandemic levels". A separate study, published in the Annals of Internal Medicine in February, found that 7.5 million US adults - just under 3% of the population - became first-time gun owners during the pandemic between January and April 2021. This, in turn, exposed 11 million people to household firearms, including five million children.

I like the boxing sport. Fury's style, for his size, is unmatched.

In the words of timaya.... whatever you believe in so it's gonna be. Show me a man who is rich but doesn't like women. What is favor and what is grace? |
Survival of the fittest. Only the strong will survive. Who are the strong? Lord have mercy on their souls. |
On this matter, I can see lots of hypocritical responses. Buhari is far far better and original than most nairalanders. |

Simone Sozza has been appointed for Inter vs. Roma, but the Giallorossi fans are unhappy with AIA’s decision as the referee was born in Milano and lives in Lombardy. AIA has announced the referees for matchday 34 and Sozza has been appointed for the big match on Saturday at San Siro. Many Roma fans are protesting AIA’s decision on social media. They believe it’s unfair that a match official born in Milano is allowed to oversee an Inter match against an opponent from a different region. Sozza was born in Milan on August 19, 1987 and is regarded as one of the most promising young referees in Italy. Despite protests from Roma fans, his appointment for the game is legitimate as AIA doesn’t consider relevant the place where a referee was born but only the section to which he belongs. Sozza is from the AIA section of Seregno, just outside Milan, so he is still entitled to referee an Inter game.

If they had d automatic power to do it, they would've done it since na. Buhari's statement are too implicative. Na grace grace dis man just get, if not I don't see any intelligence in him. |
