The Sea of Galilee, also known as Lake Tiberias, sits in the northeast parts of Israel between the Golan Heights and Galilee region.

Geographically, it is the lowest freshwater lake on Earth and the second-lowest lake after the Dead Sea.

BREAKING: Rev. Jesse Jackson Gets Better, Transferred To Rehab Facility, Wife Still In ICU - ChristianGospel TV

Nearly a week after his family revealed he had been hospitalized with COVID-19, civil rights leader Rev Jesse Jackson has been transferred to a rehab facility, while his wife, Jacqueline, has been moved to the intensive care unit.

The Jacksons’ family said Friday afternoon that Rev. Jackson’s COVID-19 symptoms have begun to abate, and his Parkinson’s disease, which was diagnosed years ago, “has become more in focus.”

“Therefore, he has been transferred to The Shirley Ryan Ability Lab where he will immediately begin intensive occupational and physical therapy,” Rev. Jackson’s son, Jonathan, said in a statement.

Meantime, Jacqueline Johnson remains hospitalized at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and has been moved to the intensive care unit, where she is receiving oxygen treatment, but is still breathing on her own.

“Both of our parents are continuing to receive excellent medical care. We urge that you continue to keep them in your prayers because we know this is a serious disease,” Jonathan Jackson said. “We continue to receive the love that is being poured out to our family from around the world and it is greatly appreciated, as we express our love and concern for the millions of people who have been victimized by the COVID-19 virus and its variants. We know this is a dangerous disease so please remain prayerful for all of those who are suffering as a result.”

The Jackson family also urged people who are eligible to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

Rev. Jackson and his wife were admitted to the hospital last weekend, after both tested positive for the virus.

Rev. Jackson, 79, was fully vaccinated, according to a representative for Roseland Community Hospital, where he received his first dose of the Pfizer vaccine on Jan. 8. At the time he got his first shot, Jackson held a news conference to encourage other elderly people to get their shots.

Jacqueline Jackson had not been vaccinated.

Friday night, Marin Luther King III called on the world to pray for Jackson Sr. and his wife.

“We’ve seen him all over the country and made so many sacrifices so that many things that exist today exist for all of us,” he said. “So Rev. Jackson and Mrs. Jackson, so our prayers continue to be lifted up like so many others around the nation and world.”

King is the son of slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.

The elder King and Jackson marched and worked feverishly for U.S. civil rights up until King’s assassination in 1968.

BREAKING:Fulani Herdsmen Kill Kidnapped Pastor; Behead Father, 7-year-old Son-ChristianGospelTV

Fulani herdsmen beheaded a Christian man and his 7-year-old son and killed a pastor they had kidnapped two weeks earlier in two separate attacks in northern Nigeria, according to reports.
Thomas Wollo, 46, and his 7-year-old son, Nggwe Thomas, were beheaded by herdsmen close to their home in Tafigana village in Plateau state’s Bassa Local Government Area as they were returning from choir practice at about 8:50 p.m. on Sunday, the U.S.-based persecution watchdog group International Christian Concern reported.

Zongo Lawrence, the spokesman for Miango Youth Development Association, was quoted as saying that the herdsmen destroyed a large part of farmland in a nearby village after the attack.

“Seventeen of our people have been killed by Fulani herdsmen this year. The international community should come to our aid; we are under heavy siege,” Lawrence said.

In Kogi State last Thursday, the Rev. Danlami Yakwoi of the Evangelical Church Winning All died in captivity after being tortured by Fulani herdsmen, Morning Star News reported.

Yakwoi had been kidnapped along with two of his sons and a nephew in Tawari area on July 12, church secretary Musa Shekwolo was quoted as saying.

The news of the pastor’s death came after one of his children who was kidnapped was released.

Yakwoi’s family paid a ransom for the release of his son, Shekwolo said.

ICC designates Fulani radicals as the fourth-deadliest terror group globally, which has surpassed the Boko Haram terrorist group as the greatest threat to Nigerian Christians.

“Many believe that the attacks are motivated by jihadist Fulanis’ desire to take over farmland and impose Islam on the population and are frustrated with the Muslim-dominated government that is believed to be enabling such atrocities,” ICC warned in May.

The Anambra-based International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law estimated in May that as many as 1,470 Christians were killed in Nigeria during the first four months of 2021, the highest estimate in the first four months of any year since 2014. The number also surpasses the estimated number of Christians killed in 2019. The report estimated that as many as 300 people had been killed in Kaduna in the first four months of 2021.

In the first four months of this year, the organization estimates that at least 2,200 Christians were abducted. Kaduna state recorded the highest number of abductions at 800.

The Global Terrorism Index ranked Nigeria as the third-most affected country by terrorism and reported over 22,000 deaths by acts of terror from 2001 to 2019.

Advocates, including U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom Commissioner Gay Bauer, have warned that Nigeria “will move relentlessly toward a Christian genocide” if action is not taken. The U.S. State Department recognizes Nigeria as a “country of particular concern” for tolerating or engaging in severe violations of religious freedom.

Islamic extremism, notably carried out by groups like Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province in northeast Nigeria, has led to thousands of deaths and millions displaced in recent years.

A 39-year-old man in eastern Uganda who recently put his faith in Christ is still recovering from a machete blow to his head by a Muslim relative in late June, sources said.

Abudlawali Kijwalo, who comes from family of devoted sheikhs and hajjis (pilgrims to Mecca), was grazing his cattle on June 27 in Nankodo, Kibuku District when his brother, Musoga Murishid, confronted him, Kijwalo said.

Family members had warned Kijwalo against listening to gospel music or claiming that Jesus Christ was his Lord and Savior. Kijwalo told Morning Star News he had been listening to a Christian radio station earlier that day.

“Are you still a Muslim, or you are now a Christian?” Murishid asked him, according to Kijwalo.

“I am for Christ,” Kijwalo told him.

His brother revealed a machete that had been strapped beneath his long robe and struck him on the head, sending Kijwalo sprawling and screaming, the Christian said. As he bled heavily, Murishid walked away, likely thinking he had killed him, Kijwalo said.

A village elder who witnessed the attack got some health workers and rushed to attend to him, Kijwalo said. They transported him by motorcycle to medical facility in nearby Kasasira town where a highly respected doctor treated him.

The doctor said that Kijwalo will survive but needs rest and more treatment. Kijwalo, who lacks money for medical bills and food, has taken refuge at an undisclosed site.

The assault was the latest of many instances of persecution of Christians in Uganda that Morning Star News has documented.

Uganda’s constitution and other laws provide for religious freedom, including the right to propagate one’s faith and convert from one faith to another. Muslims make up no more than 12 percent of Uganda’s population, with high concentrations in eastern areas of the country.

A California pastor’s wife has been released from jail with no charges filed after fatally shooting her husband as he entered their home.

The Rev. Noah Shepherd, a 29-year-old pastor of the San Diego Reformed Presbyterian Church, was shot dead on Monday evening at his home in Lemon Grove, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

His wife, 26-year-old Gabriella Rose Shepherd, called 911 and said she had accidentally shot her husband as he entered their home through the back door.

“We are not filing charges at this time,” stated District Attorney’s Office spokesperson Tanya Sierra, as reported by the Union-Tribune. “The investigation is ongoing and we will review the case as we get more information.”


The Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America Pacific Coast Presbytery posted a statement on Facebook Friday, explaining their thankfulness over the release.

“Our primary role here as Presbytery representatives is to care for the congregation in San Diego, of which Gabby is a member. At this time we have no evidence to contradict her account of the tragic events on Monday evening,” stated the Presbytery.

“The state is continuing their investigation, but at this time they have said there is not sufficient evidence to contradict her account and hold her. For now she is able to grieve with her family and her church. For this we rejoice.”

The Presbytery and the congregation had released a joint statement earlier this week on Facebook, expressing their “heartbreaking sorrow over the passing of our brother and fellow-laborer, Rev. Noah Shepherd.”

“We will remember Rev. Shepherd for the hope of the gospel message he not only preached, but believed. We mourn, not as those without hope, but as those eagerly awaiting eternal life,” stated the Presbytery and the church on July 13.

“This was Noah’s hope, and we rejoice that he is with his crucified and risen Savior, Jesus Christ, whom he loved and proclaimed.”

Erik O’Dell, a friend of the Shepherd family who had known Noah since their seminary years together, told NBC San Diego that he was “numb” by the news.

“When I heard the details of what happened I was numb. There are no words,” O’Dell told the local news station. “There was just no indication that anything was other than good. They just welcomed their second boy not too long ago.

There is no doubt that the way of the lord is mysterious and not every man is capable of understanding it, but there are something things we can try to understand. Today I will be talking about Love and how it can significantly affect all areas of your life as a Christian.

Love might seem like a simple term but in actuality, it is actually very complex and without it, you can't be an effective Christian. I was privileged to read one of Pastor Enenche's messages where he talked about love and how it affected our prayer lives.

According to the man of God in his daily devotional titled "Seeds of Destiny" he warned against those who speak in tongues but lack the love of God in their life. These are people who don't love their wives, children and are having serious problems with their neighbors or friends.

This same set of people will come into the church and start praying and speaking in tongues, the Lord doesn't even listen to those prayers, all he hears is noise. There is a lot of wickedness, bitterness, and anger in their life and anytime they come to God in prayers, the Lord will keep seeing them as noisemaker

This is not the only danger of lack of love, one of the other things you suffer is lack of insight. Lack of insight is simply your failure to understand the Bible and the word of the Lord. You will keep reading the word of God but you won't be able to understand.

In anything you do, you should make sure you do it with love. I personally enjoyed this message because this is the truth that many Christians need to hear, they need to understand that serving God is not about people seeing you, it deals with your heart.

BREAKING: Two Injured In Church Bomb Blast In Eastern DR Congo - ChristianGospel TV

A makeshift bomb exploded inside a Catholic church in the city of Beni in the DR Congo’s conflict-plagued east on Sunday, injuring two just an hour before a children’s Confirmation ceremony was due to be held.

The head of police in Beni’s town hall Narcisse Muteba Kashale told AFP that the explosion occurred at 6:00 am (0400 GMT) and that experts from the UN’s mission to DR Congo had told “us it is a home-made bomb, a bomb that was set up for an ambush”.

Beni’s vicar general Laurent Sondirya said two people were injured in the blast, which went off before crowds would have gathered to attend the Confirmation ceremony.

“They were targeting a large crowd because the ceremony would bring together children, their parents and the faithful,” he told AFP, adding that “mass would not be postponed”.

Traces of blood could seen at the entrance to the church in the aftermath of the explosion, an AFP reporter said, while shards of glass where scattered inside and the sound equipment was destroyed.

It marks the first time a building belonging to the Catholic Church, the city’s largest religion, has been directly targeted in Beni territory, where the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) militia is accused of killing 6,000 people since 2013, according to the Catholic episcopate.

Two imams in Beni known for speaking out against the ADF violence were shot dead in May, one inside the city’s mosque and the other after evening prayers.

The ADF is the deadliest of an estimated 120 armed militia groups that roam the mineral-rich east of the vast central African country, many of them a legacy of two regional wars from 1996 to 2003.

It is historically a Ugandan Islamist group that has holed up in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo since 1995.

The ADF is accused of killing hundreds of civilians since launching operations from a base in the jungle around Beni in November 2019.

In March, the United States said the ADF was linked to the Islamic State group.

BREAKING: Christians Beheaded In Indonesia- ChristianGospel TV

Four Christian men were beheaded in a horrific terror attack in Indonesia on Tuesday, Open Doors reports.

The attack occurred in Kalimago Village, Poso Regency in Central Sulawesi, and has been blamed on Islamist extremists belonging to the terrorist group, East Indonesia Mujahidin.

Two victims were members of the Mamasa Toraja Church. Another came from Toraja Church and one from a Catholic Church in the area.

They were aged between 42 and 61.

Their murders come just half a year after four other Christians were killed at a Salvation Army outpost in Sigi, Central Sulawesi.

Open Doors’ local partner in Indonesia Ari Hartono — whose name has been changed for security reasons — said, “Central Sulawesi locals are still traumatized from the terrorist attack in Sigi last November and have not recovered yet. We’re not sure if the attack is religiously motivated even though the victims are Christians.”



“It could be an act of survival. After the Sigi incident, the terrorists in Central Sulawesi have been increasingly pressed by the police and the Army,” he added. “Their logistics is exhausted. The only way to survive is to rob people of food. In this area, there are many farmers who live in the forest far from the village and they were the ones targeted by the terrorists.”

Indonesia is ranked No. 47 on Open Doors’ World Watch List, an annual ranking of the 50 countries where Christians face the most extreme persecution.

Ari is asking Christians to pray for the peace of God in the area.

“Fear and intimidation are trying to take over people’s hearts, but God’s power is more powerful,” he said.

“Pray for protection over God’s people in Poso and Central Sulawesi. As long as these terrorists are not caught, the threat lingers.

“People are afraid to go to their field, therefore they cannot work and produce crops. This will affect their economic situation. The Madago Raya Task Force are hunting this terrorist group. We pray for their protection, strength and wisdom to do their job, and pray that they will catch these perpetrators.”

Christians have been targeted in parts of Indonesia, the world’s largest Muslim-majority country, in recent years.

In Makassar, South Sulawesi, 20 worshipers were injured in a suicide bomb attack as they left a Palm Sunday church service marking the start of Holy Week.

Dozens were killed in a church suicide attack in Surabaya, East Java, in 2018.

BREAKING: London Pastor Arrested for Sermon on Marriage: ‘I Was Only Saying What the Bible Says’ - ChristianGospel TV

Last week, a pastor was arrested in London after he delivered a public sermon on the biblical definition of marriage out of Genesis 1.

John Sherwood, who is 71 and the pastor of a north London church, was arrested April 23 in the center of Uxbridge, London, under the Public Order Act for making “allegedly homophobic comments,” according to The Daily Mail.

A video shows him standing on top of a step stool before being handcuffed and led away by police as a crowd watched. One person can be heard gasping in shock.

“For a man preaching about Christianity!” a woman says in the video, critical of police action.

He was later released.

“I wasn’t making any homophobic comments. I was just defining marriage as a relationship between a man and a woman,” he said, according to The Daily Mail. “I was only saying what the Bible says – I wasn’t wanting to hurt anyone or cause offense. I was doing what my job description says, which is to preach the gospel in open air as well as in a church building.

“When the police approached me, I explained that I was exercising my religious liberty and my conscience. I was forcibly pulled down from the steps and suffered some injury to my wrist and to my elbow. I do believe I was treated shamefully. It should never have happened.”

Christian Concern, a UK-based organization that defends people of faith, criticized the arrest. Police had received three complaints about Sherwood, Christian Concern said.

The organization called it a “brutal arrest.”

“There is an idea that if people are offended, you should arrest someone, but in this country, we also have freedom of speech,” Andrea Williams of Christian Concern told The Daily Mail.

Sherwood was arrested after preaching “on the final verses in Genesis 1, where it says that God created mankind in his own image,” Christian Concern reported.

Peter Simpson, the pastor of Penn Free Methodist Church in Buckinghamshire and a friend of Sherwood, also defended the minister.

“Everything he said was Bible-based,” Simpson said, according to The Daily Mail. “He was not saying anything abusive; he is a Christian minister. There did not seem to be any recognition from the police that Christian ministers and such views exist. If there was a Pride parade in Uxbridge, the police would support it even if Christians were offended. You don’t have to be an evangelical Christian to be shocked by this. Anyone who cares about liberty should be concerned about what happened in Uxbridge.”

BREAKING: Biden Becomes 1st President to Omit ‘God’ from National Day of Prayer Proclamation- ChristianGospel TV

President Biden on Wednesday issued a National Day of Prayer proclamation that touted the “power of prayer” and invited Americans to “give thanks,” although the proclamation’s absence of the word “God” sparked criticism and marked the first time that’s happened in modern history.

By a 1952 law, every U.S. president must issue a proclamation designating a National Day of Prayer. This year the day fell on May 6.

On the National Day of Prayer, “we unite with purpose and resolve, and recommit ourselves to the core freedoms that helped define and guide our Nation from its earliest days,” it reads.

“We celebrate our incredible good fortune that, as Americans, we can exercise our convictions freely – no matter our faith or beliefs,” it reads. “Let us find in our prayers, however they are delivered, the determination to overcome adversity, rise above our differences, and come together as one Nation to meet this moment in history.”

The proclamation, though, omits the word “God,” making Biden the first president not to include “God” in his proclamation in the modern history of National Day of Prayer proclamations. The omission is ironic, because secular groups in recent months have criticized Biden for discussing religion too much.

According to the text of proclamations at UC Santa Barbara’s American Presidency Project, every proclamation since 1953 – the first year proclamations were required under law – had included “God” until this year. Most proclamations mentioned “God” multiple times.

David Brody, the chief political analyst for CBN News, criticized the proclamation for what it didn’t include.

“Joe Biden’s National Day of Prayer Proclamation has been released and it doesn’t even mention God once! How do you release a proclamation about prayer and not mention God at all?” Brody wrote in a tweet.

President Trump’s 2018 proclamation mentioned “God” multiple times, such as: “On this National Day of Prayer, let us come together, all according to their faiths, to thank God for His many blessings and ask for His continued guidance and strength.”

President Obama’s 2015 proclamation referenced God three times, including in the following phrase: “Through prayer we find the strength to do God’s work.” Obama’s 2010 proclamation read, in part, “On this day, let us give thanks for the many blessings God has bestowed upon our Nation.”

President George W. Bush’s 2003 proclamation read, “We come together to thank God for our Nation’s many blessings, to acknowledge our need for His wisdom and grace, and to ask Him to continue to watch over our country in the days ahead.”

President Ford’s 1976 proclamation, issued during the nation’s bicentennial celebration, read, “Let us also reflect on the profound faith in God which inspired the founding fathers.”

President Nixon’s 1973 proclamation read, “America is a nation under God.”

President Johnson’s 1967 proclamation read, “Let each of us pray that God will endow us with the constancy to prevail in defense of freedom, and with the courage and resolution to preserve and extend His blessings of liberty.”

President Kennedy’s 1962 proclamation read, “May we especially ask God’s blessing upon our homes, that this integral unit of society may nurture our youth and give to them the needed faith in God, in our Nation, and in their future.”

Oyedepo's Church, Living Faith To Spend N160 Billion On New 100,000-Seater Auditorium - ChristianGospel TV

The Living Faith Church founded by Bishop David Oyedepo is to spend over N160 billion to build its 100,000-seater auditorium, known as ‘The Ark.’

The groundbreaking ceremony for The Ark was carried out by Bishop Oyedepo in March 2021.

According to reports, N45 billion has already been released for the project out of the N160 billion earmarked for it.

Thus, the project has already kicked off and to be completed in three years.

First announced in late 2015 as the “Faith Theatre”, the 100,000 seats stadium-like project has now been officially renamed as “The Ark”, unveiled at the church earlier last Month.

Sited on about 1,000 hectares of land (the site of the old Faith Academy compound), within the vast premises of the current church building, the Ark will specifically accommodate 106,000 seats and will include a 24-Floor Mission Tower (International Headquarters Facility) made up of two twin towers of 12 floors each.

Upon completion, the existing 50,000 seaters Faith Tabernacle will serve as an overflow facility.

Oyedepo had recently said members of the church would not be tasked to contribute to the project.

The Senior Pastor of Abuja-based Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr Paul Enenche, has described reports in some quarters that his church recently acquired a private jet as “absolutely false and totally untrue”.

The cleric said though his ministry could afford to acquire a private jet for the “purpose of easy, stress-less and aggressive spread of the gospel”, the church was yet to buy one.

Enenche made this known in a statement on Friday through his Secretary, Sylvester Edoh.

The statement titled, ‘On The Purported Acquisition Of A Private Jet’ partly read, “By God’s grace, we do not lack the capacity to acquire or own a private jet for the sake of the gospel.

“However, the news of our acquisition of a private jet that is currently making rounds is absolutely false and totally untrue.”

“The picture of the jet making rounds is that of an aircraft, N838BB HAWKER 800XP (HS25), belonging to a private aviation company that was chartered in December 2019 for a series of crusades in Benue State,” the statement added.

“We do not need to acquire or buy an equipment before we can own it.

“We have the capacity to announce by ourselves, whatever we deem news-worthy,” it concluded.

Acquisition of private jets is not a new phenomenon amongst Nigerian top pastors. The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye; the Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide aka Winners’ Chapel, David Oyedepo; the General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman; amongst others own private jets.

Pastor Adeboye made this known when he paid a courtesy call on Governor Nasir El-Rufai at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House on Tuesday in Kaduna.

"Victory is around the corner," he told the governor and offered prayers for the governor, Kaduna state and Nigeria.

"I am assuring you that the Almighty God is going to fight for you, He is going to fight for Kaduna State, He is going to fight for Nigeria," the pastor added.

He described El-Rufai as a tender-hearted man, who was misunderstood by many.

"I know the kind of person you are, I know you are tender hearted, I know how you definitely must be feeling, particularly when the kidnappings are going on, when they begin to kidnap school children."

Adeboye told the governor not to despair, but to put his trust in God at all times.

"When God begins to do what He alone can do, then the world will see it and they will glorify the name of God, and many people who might be criticizing you now, will probably see the other side of the story."

In his response, El Rufai commiserated with the Redeemed family over the recent abduction of some pastors and parishioners in the state.

"We also seek your blessings and prayers, as a great man of God, to assist us with the challenges that we are facing here and the country at large.

"This country needs divine intervention more than at any time in its history.

"We are grateful for your prayers, we are grateful for your blessings, and we will continue to ask for more."


El-Rufai described the Redeemed Church as a pillar and symbol of Nigeria's unity 'and positive force for peace and progress' in the country.

Emmanuel TV, a YouTube channel belonging to TB Joshua, the founder of The Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN), has been suspended over allegations of propagating hate speech.

The clergyman took to his official Twitter page on Thursday to put out a statement where he confirmed the development.

Speaking in defense of the church’s messages and sermons, he wrote: “Our mission is to share the love of God with everyone – irrespective of race or religion – and we strongly oppose all forms of hate speech!

“We have had a long and fruitful relationship with YouTube and believe the decision was made in haste.”



Emmanuel TV, which is said to have had over 1.8 million subscribers and 600 million views, is acclaimed as being among the largest in Nigeria and one of the most-watched Christian ministries ever on the video-sharing platform.


The suspension came after the church had published a video titled ‘The spirit of man is tormenting you’, TB Joshua’s personal prophecy about Chetanna Nwabuwa, a Nigerian in Ghana who was allegedly possessed by a strange spirit.


In 2019, YouTube had awarded Emmanuel TV a ‘Gold Creator Award’ for surpassing 1,000,000 subscribers.

David Oyedepo, presiding bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, says he won’t take the COVID-19 vaccine.
Nigeria commenced nationwide vaccination on March 5 after receiving 3.9 million doses courtesy of COVAX, the global alliance against COVID-19.

As of April 16, the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) said 1,081,548 doses of the vaccine have so far been administered across the country.

Speaking on Saturday during his church’s Hour of Prayer service, Oyedepo said it is immoral to force people to take the vaccine.

The cleric said the church has the answer to some of the challenges facing the world, while he added that his job is to expose the devil and its agents.

“I have never seen a generation where you force people to take vaccines. It is inhuman; it is immoral sir. I’m not a lawyer but I don’t think it is legal. You can’t come to my house and want to give me injection,” Oyedepo said.

“On what? Did I invite you? They are confused. But the church has the answer. Did you see any outbreak of virus here? How will it enter the gate? Will it come through the air? How? One woman just got down after that injection in Kaduna. What kind of life? Are human beings now turned to guinea pigs?

“The world is confused but the church is lighted. So the triumph of the church will humble the pride of the world. They don’t know what to do sir. In the last days, the church will be reigning in power and glory. That is God’s agenda.

“No apologies. There is a big, big bird in our land, saying “don’t take it, they are deceivers. Let me see someone who will come and inject me. By who? Are you going to tie my hands. How? Did I invite you? I know you are quiet, you will hear more of it. My job is to expose the devil and tell his agents “get off, we are not guinea pigs.”

The cleric has made some controversial claims and comments about the COVID-19 pandemic in the past.

Oyedepo had previously kicked against the lockdown directive and dismissed warnings that places of worship are vulnerable with respect to the spread of COVID-19.

The cleric had also said he would lay his bare hands on COVID-19 patients brought to him for prayer, while he also claimed about 114 members of his church testified to have been healed of coronavirus.

A majority of Protestant pastors in the United States still disapprove of same-sex relationships, but the overall approval has grown largely due to mainline pastors, a new study by LifeWay Research reveals.

Only about 8 percent of self-identified evangelical Protestant pastors say they have no issues with same-sex marriage, and their percentage has remained the same since 2010, according to a new survey by the Nashville-based research group.

However, support among self-identified mainline Protestant pastors for same-sex marriage has jumped from a third (32 percent) in 2010 to almost half (47 percent) in 2020.

The study suggests that Presbyterian or Reformed (49 percent), Methodist (47 percent), Lutheran (35 percent) and Christian/Church of Christ pastors (20 percent) are more likely to see nothing wrong with same-sex marriage than Baptist (3 percent) or Pentecostal pastors (1 percent).

Scott McConnell, executive director of LifeWay Research, says the data should be interpreted cautiously. “The stability in the views of evangelical pastors means either there has been no growth in acceptance of same-sex marriage among them or the pastors that no longer have moral reservations about it no longer identify as evangelical.”

Last week, the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan consecrated its first openly lesbian bishop, the Rev. Bonnie A. Perry. Anna Stania, director of Communications for the diocese, told The Christian Post that Perry’s candidacy received no opposition because of her sexual orientation. “We have experienced an overwhelming outpouring of joy, grace and excitement since her election and consecration.”

The study also indicates that white pastors (27 percent) are more likely to see nothing wrong with same-sex marriage than African American pastors (15 percent) or pastors of other ethnicities (6 percent).

It further suggests that those with a doctorate (27 percent) or a master’s degree (32 percent) are more likely to support same-sex marriage than pastors with a bachelor’s degree (9 percent) or no college degree (6 percent).

The survey results also show that pastors of churches with fewer than 50 in attendance (33 percent) are more likely to support same-sex marriage than those at churches with 100 or more in attendance (19 percent).

“The movement we see among pastors’ views of same-sex marriage has less to do with their denominational tradition than their view of the Bible,” McConnell explains. “An evangelical distinctive is the ultimate authority the Bible has over one’s beliefs despite changing cultural perspectives. It is not surprising then that evangelical pastors across different denominations continue to view same-sex marriage as wrong through this lens.”

Last month, United Methodist Church leaders proposed a plan that would formally split the denomination after years of division over non-celibate LGBT clergy and same-sex marriage, with the formation of a new denomination for Methodists who hold to a biblical understanding of marriage and sexuality.

Overall, 24 percent of pastors say they see nothing wrong with two people of the same gender getting married — up from 20 percent in 2018 and 15 percent in 2010, according to LifeWay. And 72 percent of pastors disagree and 67 percent strongly disagree.

“More than four years after the Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage in all 50 states, most Protestant pastors still see a moral problem with it,” said McConnell. “More pastors are protective of marriage itself, but legal civil unions also are seen as wrong by most pastors.”

Cardinal Raymond Burke made the comments on his website, saying that “many Catholics and non-Catholics” have asked how “Catholic politicians and civil officials” who “publicly and obstinately defend and promote the practice of abortion on demand” can “approach to receive Holy Communion.”

Burke’s answer: They should not receive communion.

Burke did not mention any politician by name, although the issue has become more prominent with Joe Biden, a pro-choice Catholic, in the White House.

“Those who publicly and obstinately violate the moral law are, at least, in a state of apostasy, that is, they have effectively abandoned the faith by the obstinate refusal, in practice, to live in accord with fundamental truths of faith and morals (cf. can. 751),” Burke wrote. “An apostate from the faith incurs automatically the penalty of excommunication (cf. can. 1364). The Bishop of such a person must verify the conditions for the declaration of the penalty of excommunication, which has been automatically incurred.”

Burke is one of about 125 living cardinals in the world. Cardinals are directly below the pope in the Catholic hierarchy.

Such politicians, Burke said, also “may in heresy” if they “obstinately deny or doubt the truth about the intrinsic evil of abortion.”

Withholding communion from pro-choice politicians, Burke argued, is not done for political purposes.

“On the contrary, it is the Church’s solemn responsibility to safeguard the holiness of the Holy Eucharist, to prevent the faithful from committing sacrilege, and to prevent scandal among the faithful and other persons of good will,” he wrote. “It is rather the Catholic politician, who publicly and obstinately promotes what is contrary to the moral law and yet dares to receive sacrilegiously Holy Communion, who uses the Holy Eucharist for political purposes. In other words, the politician presents himself or herself as a devout Catholic, while the truth is completely otherwise.”\

Year 2020 has been a year of many revelations looking at COVID-19 and #EndSARS protest in Nigeria. How has it been with you sir?

We thank and praise the almighty God. God has been faithful, and then, we know this year has been very interesting but notwithstanding, God has been so faithful to me and my family, and I think to the church too.

You were born in Mushin area of Lagos State, an area known for rascality; doesn’t that area have any negative impact on you while growing up sir?

It does and by the grace of God, God brought me out and he saved my life which I’m forever grateful for till date.

Mushin being your place of birth and now that God has brought you out of the place, do ever you think of having a rehabilitation program that can also bring people out of the same area God brought you out from many years back?

Even this COVID-19, I went there. Actually l was born in ldi-oro and I went to Akala to distribute some palliatives and you know the church has a place around that Akala and I think we have about two or three churches around idi-oro and they are really doing a good job.

In one of your comments, you said that the Late Fela Anikulapo Kuti inspired you to become a Saxophonist. Fela was an activist, and you are a pastor. How did he inspire you?

He inspired me the way he played good music. Fela played good music and no matter what he says, something’s that he says always makes sense. In the physical, they make sense, and then in spiritual, it makes sense when he was talking about “Water no get enemy” and “Teacher Don’t Teach Me Nonsense, you will find out that it is true. You know he talked about the political aspect. And then in the world, if you look at the history of the world and the missionary, most of the word came from the church. So we may not be taking active part in political activism but in the Spiritual realm we are. We pray for the nation, we pray for our country and the Lord Commanded us to pray for our leaders, and you know as we pray for them and the nation, something changes in the spiritual realm and it may manifest in the physical much more later.

As big as RCCG is, God has placed you at the helms of affairs of managing the music directorate, how do you go about discharging your responsibilities knowing fully well that the Redeemed Christian Church of God is in all the country of the nations?

Well, you called me music directorate? No, I am actually assisting someone and that is “Daddy G.O”. Pastor Enoch Adeboye fondly called daddy GO is the General Overseer and at the same time, the music directorate is directly under him. And then, you know daddy is highly organized, so we have music coordinators for each province and each country. Each Coordinators report to their provincial headquarters and the report come directly to the National headquarters. So, they have a standard and well organized administration in the church which is still under daddy G.O.

At 56, you still play saxophone very well, do you intend retiring at any particular age?

Why retiring? If i die, I die playing it. And this is what we do when we get to heaven. The Bible tells us that, and everybody sing it. I am sure we will also play musical instrument because we are talking about House of Gold. There will be a saxophone up there.

Many years back, God directed you to Daddy Adeboye, and since then, God has changed the name people used to call you when you were small, how do you feel? Do you have any regret?

Ahh! You have said it all. You know, there is no regret about that and I have no regret all. My life has changed and it has changed for life, and forever changed for good.

Do you have any gratitude you want to send to Pastor E A Adeboye?

Yes, I am eternally grateful to daddy and mummy G.O for adopting me as their child and I will forever be grateful.

As a saxophonist, how do you unwind despite your schedule and because anywhere we see daddy GO, we usually see you, and then that means you are a very very busy man. So how do you unwind?

I play table tennis and I have it in my house. When I relax, i watch Sports and also read books. I also listen to good music to unwind myself.

Do you have any album you are working on?

There is an album we are working on that is also featuring Nathaniel Bassey and artists from one Hallelujah Records like Tosin bee, MOZ, Bidemi Olaoba and Femi Okunuga which is coming out very soon.

We know you are now a grandfather, how do you feel to be one?

I feel good and l feels happy and l am grateful to God for making me a grandfather.

Are you still in touch with Gospel Musicians Association of Nigeria. Because, we were made to believe that every gospel artistes is a member?

I am in touch with them, even though I am not an active member, due to the nature of my job and because of what I’m doing right now. And I believe one day if God permit I will be an active member, but for now, I am in touch with some of them and with the present governor of GOMAN in Lagos.

Any advice for the government at this point in time while the nation is still experiencing so many challenges, what do you have to tell the government?

The government should listen to God, and when people governing us know God, they will do exactly what God ask them to do to the people and they should listen to advice. It is not wrong for the people to advise them.

They should listen to the advice, weigh it and look at the area in which they will improve the life of the people. God hears the prayer of the poor and the bible says when the poor cries, God hears so if God can hear the prayers of the people, I think the government should also listen to the people they are governing.


And then if there are no people, there is no government. So I think the government should listen and seek God, seeking God is the best thing; while you have the fear of God you would great things. Doing the fear of God will help the nation a lot. If we have the fear of God, you would be to do the right things for the people and not for personal use.

Many of the people in government don’t have the fear of the Lord; some of them that do have the fear of God don’t do what God says. In all, they should seek and fear God

The Bible says, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Wisdom is needed to rule the nation and to have the fear of God is to seek God.

So many young people want to be like you, they have been watching you playing Saxophone whenever Baba wants to preach and they just love your style. So what do you have to tell upcoming saxophonist or those still young in playing it?

My advice is that they should be sure of what they want to do, they should be patient, hardworking, diligent and also be diligent in the word of God, things of God, and by the grace of God, sky will be their limit. Lastly, they should be very disciplined in every area of their lives.

The Director-General of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Muda Yusuf, and the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Past. Enoch Adeboye, said accounting professionals can do more to rescue the country’s economy.

The duo who spoke at the ongoing 15th Western Zonal Accountants’ Conference of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) at the Redemption Camp, Ogun state, charged the professionals to take special in broad macroeconomic issues as well as disruptive technology and align their professional practice according.

Speaking the conference theme, ‘Disruptive Economy: Implications for the Accounting Profession,’ Adeboye, accountants have a calling that is of benefit to the entire society. The cleric, who was represented by the Assistant General Overseer (Personnel and Admin), Past. Funso Odesola said urged the organizers to communicate the communiqué of the conference to relevant authorities

Yusuf acknowledged the role of accountants in turning the socioeconomic conditions of the country around. He, however, said they would be more relevant to the national economy if they take interest in macroeconomic issues and contextualize their practice.

“The pandemic crashed the global financial market including crude oil prices, foreign exchange and the small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs),” Yusuf said, adding that countries with preexisting condition were mostly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

He listed rising inflation, external imbalances, low investors’ confidence, insecurity and FX crisis as some of the challenges facing the country before the pandemic. He concluded that COVID-19 only made “a bad situation worst” for the country.

According to him, the highest impact of the pandemic is on commodities, which make countries that rely on crude, like Nigeria, severely affected.

Yusuf said the rising oil demand is good news as it would have positive impacts on the country’s fiscal position. He, however, said there is a downside of the rally of prices has reactivated the concern about subsidy.

In her keynote address, ICAN President, Dame Onome Joy Adewuyi, said accountants have defied all odds and continue to build capacity in key areas of practice.

“The theme of this conference is an evidence that as the global economy is being disrupted, we are proactively responding to the emerging new world,” she said.

While I got enrolled to study – and did graduated with a degree in Biochemistry, it was the realisation of privilege that motivated my current life duty; creating quality educational opportunities for disadvantaged children excluded from school to acquire the core knowledge they need to lead productive lives. So, it is my childhood experiences that motivated my current life duty.

I founded Aid for Rural Education Access Initiative (AREAi) and for leveraging this platform; my personal and professional work over the last six years has revolved around driving equitable educational opportunities and sustainable learning outcomes for millions of disadvantaged Nigerian children, leveraging innovation, collaboration and technology. With the support of donors, volunteers and partners, I’ve designed coordinated and scaled series of mass literacy, entrepreneurship development and economic empowerment programs to transform the employability, livelihood and lifelong learning opportunities of over 25,000 beneficiaries in 18 communities across Nigeria.

Like I always maintain, leading educational change is not what I do, it is who I am. Not only have I built resilience in the face of adversity doing my current work, I have also learnt the skills of empathy, patience and compassion which I believe are crucial values to work within the humanitarian space in Nigeria.

Tell us about your experience as one of the delegates to the One Young World Summit in London?

In October 2019, I was selected to attend the One Young World Summit in London, owing largely to the transformative educational change that I champion and inspire through Aid for Rural Education Access Initiative (AREAi) and the International Youth Coalition for Education (IYCE).

Out of about 45,000 applications, I was among 10 outstanding young leaders whose work on improving the education, skills, and access to opportunity for people in their communities, countries, or world at large, was deservingly rewarded with the Deloitte-One Young World Scholarship to attend the summit with all expenses covered.

My experience at the summit was refreshing and energising because being in workshops and seminars and exchanging insights with hundreds of exceptionally talented young people from across the world helped further enhance my clarity of the work needed to be done to make education more accessible for children across Nigeria. I was privileged to also attend some closed doors mentoring sessions from renowned leaders such as Paul Polman (former Head of Unilever), Professor Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, and Richard Branson, the founder of the Virgin Group), to mention but a few. The most unforgettable moment of that experience was the invitation to the Windsor Castle as part of a group of 10 young leaders from across the world for a roundtable discussion with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Megan Markle of the British Royal Family.

What are some of the things you did to help reduce the impact of COVID-19 last year?

In 2020 as a response to learning disruption and mass school closures due to COVID-19 pandemic, I led the development of DigiLearns, Nigeria’s first adaptive, zero-tech, and offline learning management solution that allows low-income students access instantly-delivered and contextually-relevant educational content via SMS and USSD on basic feature phones that does not require internet access.

So, by simply dialing a code on a Nokia 3310 phone, students can access the subject lesson notes, review past questions, ask teachers questions, search the internet offline, receive assessment questions – both multiple-choice and open-ended – by text, and get feedback on their responses, whether right or wrong.

With this solution, we were able to directly support over 500 secondary students in selected schools and orphanages within the FCT. An estimated 45,000 beneficiaries also accessed our platform after we shared the solution with rural schools across a number of states in the Northern part of Nigeria. This intervention attracted over financial support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, One Young World, and the Queens Commonwealth Trust and was recently named one of African Union Top 50 Education Innovations for 2020. Now, we are planning to launch and scale this widely for usage and adoption across rural communities in Nigeria to continue to enable remote learning and distance education for poor students.

What has been the experience working with rural communities?

Working in rural communities across Nigeria has been filed with mixed experiences. On one hand, you are excited about the pockets of promise that your intervention holds for a community, on the other hand, you are sad because the level of extreme poverty the community is experiencing might be a barrier to the success of your project. However, having recognised that poverty is a huge barrier for access to education in such rural communities where we work, we provide economic empowerment opportunities for mothers so they are able to support their children’s education.

There are a number of lessons we’ve picked from these experiences. We have learnt that for seamless and sustainable project implementation, it is crucial that effective stakeholder’s consultation and needs mapping are carried out. This helps to guarantee that interventions are tailored by and for the right beneficiaries, thereby ensuring fit and sustainability. In my experience with these rural communities, I have come to establish that for inclusive sustainable development to be achieved, poverty eradication and holistic human capital development must be prioritised.

You are a 2019 recipient of the United Kingdom Chevening Scholarship and the 2020 Ooni of Ife Royal African Youth Leadership awards amongst others. What do they mean to you?

Winning awards and being recognised are secondary gratification for me, seeing lives of students as well as their schools and communities transformed through the power of education is the utmost and primary source of inspiration. Of course, I hold the with firm belief in the platforms and opportunities and it is those that I have also utilised to scale the impact and amplify the reach of my professional work, whether AREAi or DigiLearns or IYCE. Hence, my drive and ambition continue to present me with opportunities to be a voice of change for children and an emerging authority on educational issues at local or global level.

Tell us about the people you admire in the sector?

Locally, I admire the professionalism of professionals like Dr Modupe Adefoso of TEP Centre; Folawe Omikunle of Teach for Nigeria; Rotimi Olawale of Youth Hub Africa, amidst many others. Internationally, I draw continuous inspiration from former Prime Minister of Britian, Gordon Brown( Dr Sakeena Yacoobi of Afghanistan Institute for Learning; Late Ken Robinson, Head of the World Bank Education Practise and former Minister of Education in Peru, Jamie Saavedra, and a few others.

What would you consider as the turning point in your career?

Winning the Chevening Scholarship to study for a Masters in International Education and Development at the University of Sussex was a major turning point for me. Prior to that moment, I was an emerging changemaker with raw but tangible ideas for revolutionising educational access and delivery for rural schools and marginalised children.

My personal exponential growth since that time has also led to a marked improvement in the design and delivery of programs and projects at AREAi. There is no gainsaying that it was that opportunity that validated my passion for alternative education provision and exposed me to various opportunities that helped me to reposition the programmatic focus areas of AREAi in that direction. In doing so, we have attracted tremendous support to drive our 10 years strategic objective of reaching 1,000,000 children across Nigeria by 2030.

What are you looking forward to in the next few years?

Over the next few years, I am anticipating that AREAi would have ensured access to education for over 500,000 beneficiaries through our projects, and we will have activities ongoing in more than 25 states of the nation.

What advice do you have for young people who want to come into the sector?

Passion is not enough; capacity is the currency for value addition. You need to be intentfully competent to be eternally indispensable and extremely valuable. To contribute significantly to meaningful change in this sector, you must be equipped with a clear sense of direction, clarity of purpose and an intrinsic conviction of moral duty

Who or what do you consider as the greatest influence in your life?

My mother, Deaconess Bosede Olanrewaju, is my greatest influence in life; her tenacious determination and selfless dedication to my educational upbringing demonstrates the power of one committed individual in making a difference in the life of one person or in the lives of millions of people.

Breaking News: Boko Haram Frees Kidnapped Pastor Who Begged FG, CAN For Help - ChristianGospel TV

A Christian cleric, Bulus Yikura, who was kidnapped by Boko Haram, has been freed.
Mr Yikura was freed Wednesday evening by the terror group, security sources told PREMIUM TIMES.
Reporters saw Mr Yikura on the outskirts of Maiduguri as he was being conveyed to the office of the State Security Service in Borno, at about 6:15 p.m.


Last week, Boko Haram circulated a video where Mr Yikura called on the government of Nigeria and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to save him. He said his abductors threatened to take his life at the end of the week.

In the video, he was seen kneeling in front of a masked man who held a dagger. He said the countdown to his execution started on February 24 and ends on March 4.

“I have been given only seven days to appeal for assistance that will help me out of this torture.

“If truly you want to rescue me from this untold suffering and threat to life, then you have to act fast.

“I am also calling on the EYN president to help mobilise help that will rescue me, and also pray for me so that God will make things easy for me here,” he said in the video.

PREMIUM TIMES gathered from security sources that family members and the EYN church had been negotiating the release of the abducted pastor since last week.

On Wednesday, when he was asked to speak about his freedom, Mr Yikura kept repeating, “I thank God, I thank God.”

Pastor Tunde Bakare of the Citadel Global Community Church in Lagos has opened up on when he started nursing the big dream of becoming the president of Nigeria. Bakare on Tuesday, February 2, revealed that he was still in secondary when he told his classmates in 1973 that he was convinced of taking over the office someday.

His words: “In 1984, I mentioned it to Pastor Adeboye, he is still alive. Before I proposed to my wife in 1982, I said to her that one day I will be the president of Nigeria. "It was something that I had seen as a little boy that I have something to offer my country and this country can be better than this and I will do my best to give it the best shot but it is not driven by inordinate ambition.” However, the cleric mentioned that he is not in any way forcing his dream on anyone, adding that those who take their presidential ambition too seriously do not eventually achieve it, citing as his example President Buhari who attained the office just when he resigned to stop contesting elections.

Moreover, to set the record straight, Bakare denied claims that he has an agreement to work with Governor Nasir El-Rufai ahead of the 2023 presidential election. Meanwhile, Bakare had slammed President Buhari, saying he had disappointed Nigerians with his leadership style. Speaking on Tuesday, February 2, the popular cleric said power had changed the president as he was no more the same Buhari he once served as running mate.

Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide also known as Winners Chapel, David Oyedepo has made a strong case that nothing is more powerful than the scripture.

He said no civilization, modernization and technology will ever overtake the truth of scriptures.

"This Holy book would remain relevant till eternity. Heaven and earth shall pass, no civilization will ever overtake the truth of scriptures," he noted.

He noted that most young people have been consumed by the worldly thoughts. "When you talk about the scriptures, they claim they are the new generation believers. If you're not a Bible generation, then you're a degeneration," the Bishop claimed.

According to the Presiding Bishop, during the beginning stages of his church they received a lot of attacks from people. "There was not one word from my mouth. There was no discussion on it in our council. It was an unimportant mission".

He stressed that, it was during the midst of the attacks that the church experienced exponential growth upto 50,000 membership.

In explaining how he dealt with this, Bishop Oyedepo said: "Because you have learnt from those before you that, the best response to attacks are from Christ. So you're unperturbed, undisturbed and undistracted".

He continued that the secrets of men are in the stories they tell.

Quoting scripture to support his point, he quoted Jeremiah 6:16 “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, We will not walk in it."

Bishop Oyedepo was speaking at an International Youth Alive Convention on the topic, "Scaling the Heights" monitored on Facebook.

In concluding, he took the opportunity to encourage his church members not to be lazy but put in a lot of effort into things that would help them progress. " They should stop lazing about and also estop engaging in things that are irrelevant."

A leading archbishop is calling on President Joe Biden to stop defining himself as a “devout Catholic” because of his endorsement of abortion, The Christian Post reports.

In an interview with The Catholic World Report (CWR) published Saturday, Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann, spoke out on Biden’s pro-choice views, asserting that abortion is “contrary to Catholic moral teaching”.

“The president should stop defining himself as a devout Catholic, and acknowledge that his view on abortion is contrary to Catholic moral teaching,” he contended.

Naumann, who is also the chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Pro-Life Activities, suggested that the President should say that he disagrees with his church over their view on abortion and that he was acting “contrary to Church teaching.”

In response to Biden saying he’s a devout Catholic, “we bishops have the responsibility to correct him,” Naumann argued.

“Although people have given this president power and authority, he cannot define what it is to be a Catholic and what Catholic moral teaching is,” he continued.

Naumann told CWR that Biden is “usurping the role of the bishops and confusing people” because he supports abortion while maintaining that he is a professing Catholic.

“He’s declaring that he’s Catholic, and is going to force people to support abortion through their tax dollars,” Naumann noted. “The bishops need to correct him, as the president is acting contrary to the Catholic faith.”

When asked about his thoughts about a Florida priest who denied Biden communion in 2019, Naumann stressed that the President “has the responsibility not to present himself for Holy Communion.”

“When Catholics receive the Eucharist, they are acknowledging the real presence of Jesus, and also belief in the teachings of the Church,” the archbishop explained.

“President Biden doesn’t believe in the Church’s teachings on the sanctity of human life, and he should not put the priest in the situation where he has to decide whether or not to allow him to receive the Eucharist, Naumann asserted. “He should know that after 78 years as a Catholic.”

Naumann, 71, is the fourth and current Archbishop of Kansas City, Kansas, a position he has held since 2005.

The lawsuit reportedly includes at least 1,000 employees who are suing both West and his companies. It is unknown for sure which employees are suing which one.

According to the unnamed sources, Kanye needed to provide overtime, meal breaks, and rest periods for his employees but failed to do so. The unnamed legal source stated the employees had a “horrible time.”

How Mesut Ozil despite his past fantastic contributions to the Arsenal side was frozen out of the team in 2020/21 is still the subject of much debate. Even at its nadir a few months back when Arsenal were about romancing the relegation waters, Ozil was still kept out of the side.

The club’s decision was despite the stellar role of the playmaker in the time before his surprising shutout. He played in 12 of the 13 matches before he was frozen. Ozil, it will be recalled, helped the team in its best league performance in nearly a generation in 2015/16. With 19 assists in that session when Arsenal was league runner up, his assists have only been dwarfed by Kevin De Bruyne with 20 assists. Even with his monstrous pay at £350,000-a-week, Arsenal still preferred not to use him. It is the same scenario that some have also brought to illustrate the situation of Yemi Osinbajo in the Nigerian political equation. Pastor Tunde Bakare brought the issue again to fore earlier this week when he told Dele Momodu in an Instagram chat that Osinbajo should open up on his frustrations. Apparently reacting to insinuations here and there, and rumours now and then, about Osunbajo being frozen out of the Muhammadu Buhari presidency, Bakare charged the vice-president to speak out. The assertion inevitably brought to bear reports as to whether Bakare wants Osinbajo’s job. Yes, he wanted the position in 2011 and failed with Muhammadu Buhari. The clergy man has now said it that he wants more than Osinbajo’s job. He wants the top job, possibly in 2023. Osinbajo and Bakare make a comparable pair. They are both lawyers from Ogun State. More remarkably, both are pastors who were polished at different times by Pastor Enoch Adeboye.

But whether Bakare subjected himself to the terms of discipleship as Osinbajo did under Adeboye is another question.

In reacting to Osinbajo’s situation, Bakare was quoted to have said thus: “There is a constitutional role for the vice-president, it is spelt out in black and white. If he is not allowed to do that, then, what is he doing there? Because if I am enrolled as a teacher and I am not allowed to teach in that school, I will look for another school.” Were Osinbajo to resign and Bakare replace him as vice-president, it is debatable as to whether Bakare would subject himself to the discipleship that the incumbent has trudged under Buhari. Like Ozil, many Nigerians remember Osinbajo as acting president going here and there to quench the fiery darts that seemed to poison national unity in 2018. He even did the unthinkable, firing the director-general of the Department of State Services, DSS Lawal Musa Daura and appointing someone from the Niger Delta region in his place Osinbajo even as he gained popularity as acting president left in his wake suspicions about his politics both with the Buhari camp and with Buhari’s critics. Within the Buhari camp there were suggestions that he tried to outshine the president. It has been insinuated that since the Daura incident that Buhari has stopped handing over to Osinbajo whenever he is out of the country. Among Buhari’s critics, especially those in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, there are many who would not forgive him for parroting the untruths said about the Jonathan administration at the heat of the campaigns in 2015 and 2019. Some have used terms unworthy of describing a pastor in defining the vice-president. So while the need for an Osinbajo touch is desperately sought by many in Nigeria’s present distresses, it seems that the vice-president has been totally removed from the power loop in the seat of power. In the 2019 campaigns he was everywhere even distributing N5,000 to market women. That job has even been taken over from him by the Villa’s favoured lady, Hajia Saadiya Farouq who has shamed Osinabjo before market women by distributing N20,000 to a greater number of people! Given what is alleged as the physical constraints or challenges of the president, an Osinbajo would ordinarily have filled the role to push forward the narratives of a government engaged in fighting corruption, checking insecurity and reviving the economy. But alas, Osinbajo is not there. The taunt is that he has been used and dumped. But really? His lot is that of most vice-presidents the world over. Atiku Abubakar just like Osinbajo was used by President Olusegun Obasanjo to galvanise the PDP governors for the 2003 re-election. Thereafter Obasanjo started on a savage attack that drove Atiku to the opposition. Dr. Goodluck Jonathan after starting well with President Umaru Yar‘Adua subsequently fell out of favour to the point that James Ibori was largely reputed to have more input into the administration than him. The gist was that in those days, Jonathan would go for some days to Port-Harcourt for reflection in the sympathetic lodgments provided by Governor Rotimi Amaechi. Perhaps, Nnamadi Sambo had a better experience of the vice-presidents of the Fourth Republic. But going back in time, Dr Alex Ekwueme’s convivial and mutually respectable experience with President Shehu Shagari shines above all else. Unlike Atiku who could think of succeeding or mustering his political allies to intimidate Obasanjo, Osinbajo is in no such position to even contemplate a political aspiration. At home in Ogun or Lagos he has Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in his shadows. In Abuja, he also has Senator Ibikunle Amosun, who is arguably Buhari’s closest Yoruba friend in his trail. So, shorn of the political structures and gravitas that brought many to his present position, Osinbajo can only look up to God for help. Even more, unlike Ozil, his transfer window is not open until May 2023.

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on Friday, described the late American professional boxer, Muhammad Ali, as his ‘hero’.

The cleric, who used to be a boxer, said he once cried over the health status of Ali, who died in 2016 at the age of 74.

Adeboye spoke at the virtual February 2021 Holy Ghost Service of the church with the theme, ‘God Bless You (2)’.

The 78-year-old cleric said, “It is one thing to be a champion, it is another thing to still be a champion. I will illustrate this by using Mohammad Ali of blessed memory.

“He was my hero, incidentally, we were born the same year and I was a boxer too; not of his class but I followed every fight that he fought. At least beginning from Sonny Liston, I can tell you every person that my hero fought.

[b]“But then, one day I saw him when they asked him to light the torch for the Olympics and I saw my hero, the man who used to float like the butterfly and sting like a bee, I watched him shaking like the reed blown by the wind. His hands were shaking and it took a special effort to hold to the torch and I cried that day.”

According to gistreel.com, the pastor in his words administered that unless the return of the Lord happens before his 90th birthday but if the Lord doesn’t come he will live to see himself age ninety.

Drawing curtains on his words he said he will celebrate his 90th birthday for a whole month in which every day will be dedicated to each fellow thus a day for America, a day for pastors, a day for the choir amongst others.

“I am not going to die young. Some people were laughing when they heard me say that, don’t worry yourselves celebrating any birthday for me now. Wait till I am 90; then we will celebrate for a whole month.



“They think I am joking. Unless the Lord returns before then, at the age of 90, I am going to celebrate for a whole month.

“There will be a day for each fellow. A day for America, a day for Australia, a day for pastors, a day for the choir, a day for the people in the legal department, a day for heads of states, etc.

It (Faith Academy) will match any campus of any university in Nigeria” According to report, the project which involves the demolition of the old Faith Academy, as well as Word of Faith Bible Institute among other facilities, will also include the transformation of 50,000 capacity (former largest world auditorium) Faith Tabernacle into an overflow facility while a 20 storey tower will also be constructed as the headquarters of the church. The 20-floor tower is to replace the initially planned 12-floor building which was to have been built with the initial Faith Theatre Project in 2015.

The Living Faith Church had in the mid-90s constructed an eight tower headquarter facility at the Raji Oba, Lagos Church known as Capernaum as well as a five-storey tower at the cradle of the Church known as Garden of Faith, Barnawa, Kaduna. He further berated naysayers over his stand on the Covid-19 pandemic. Speaking in the first service at Canaan, Ogun State, the Bishop who on several occasions described the virus as “a noisome pestilence” said: “During the lockdown, apart from Nigeria, the Church serviced 14 nations. We didn’t just start reaching out to the needy today. In 1984, when the whole church offerings and tithes was N10.40kb, a member was in need, we gave it all.”

There Is Nothing In COVID-19, Any System The Church Attacks Will Crash – Bishop Oyedepo - ChristianGospel TV
The Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, aka Winners’ Chapel, David Oyedepo, says any system the church attacks will crash.

According to PUNCH, Oyedepo disclosed this at the Crossover Service of the church on Thursday night.

In a message titled, ‘We Are On The Way To Our Promised Land’, the cleric said the devil is using the COVID-19 pandemic to come after the church.

According to him, online service is not a substitute for physical Christian fellowship.

He said, “When the church goes against a man, his destiny is finished. When the church goes against a system, that system will crash.

“Men and brethren, there is nothing in COVID-19. One of the governors was making some statements recently and said, ‘We have only had five cases since the noise began. So, where is COVID-19?’

“One governor was also quoted as saying, ‘I saw people at the National Identification Card area, no distancing, no nothing and how much more the church of God where there is order?’.

“There is no COVID-19 in the National Population Card Centre. There is no social distancing in the market. There is nowhere to wash hands or wash nose and even the officials who are in charge are also buying things there.

“What I think they don’t know is that the church has changed levels. When the church launches an attack against anyone or system, that system crashes. Thank God we have prevailed.”

Oyedepo’s comments came amid the second wave of the pandemic and the call for the closure of religious centres to curb the rising number of COVID-19 infections recorded daily by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
