I think Mboma should be close to Yekini in the ranking

Kanu in top 10 and Okocha below 25

Afam4eva: So, PSG and Fenabache are not worthy of note?
Fenerbahce? Do you know Turkish league is like 9th in Europe? Thats where okocha played his youthful years

Sagamite: The same type of bottom club that Kanu could not be a top player and went there to bench after years of benching? grin

Then apart from Kanu watching Thierry Henry live (I agree that is a tremendous achievement), compare Kanu and Jay Jay at national level.
Kanu went to a bottom club at his decline.

When kanu was top dog he played for Ajax, Inter and Arsenal clubs Okocha can never smell

Kanu started as striker for Ajax in the 1996 Champions league final

Kanu led Nigeria to her greatest triumph in football 1996 Olympics

Abeg bros tell us about what Jayjay won or did in his whole career

i dey go sleep jare

Sagamite: So Bebeto was shyt?
Bebeto won the world cup as a top player and when he was a Deportivo player the club was second in the La Liga losing on goal difference to Barcelona

Mention one cup Okocha won as a key player, or which team he played for thats worthy of note
SportsRe: Sagamite's Top 30 Greatest African Footballers Of All Time by dayokanu(m): 9:57am On Jan 27, 2013
Sagamite: Go and look at WPoY list for 2009.

He was injured shotly after getting to Madrid. He was bought as their star player.

At least Okocha was playing and he is regarded as a God, not just a good player, in the teams he played for. Unlike Kanu that watched the matches live. grin

Go to Turkey and say you are Nigerian and see whether you will not get a free drink.
How easy is it to be a top player in bottom clubs. I am sure if you also go to Reading they would make you club captain.

Victor moses was messiah in Wigan what became of him now at Chelsea?

Go to Wigan and say you are from Victor moses village dem go take shayo wound you, But that doesnt make him top 1,000 anywhere

Afam4eva: Some big clubs did come for Okocha but he preferred to go to Bolton where his talent will be more appreciated.
Thats news from Complete Sports

Theres no player that would decline top clubs and go to relegation battlers like Bolton

Have you seen any student decline Havard for Oko Poly?
SportsRe: Sagamite's Top 30 Greatest African Footballers Of All Time by dayokanu(m): 9:49am On Jan 27, 2013
Afam4eva: These very big teams are usually not a one man team. They have a combination of good players but not necessarily players with the kind of individual brilliance that Okocha possesses. So, i don't see Okocha fitting into that kind of setup. He does better when he's the one leading the team.
What are the type of players that only excel at low level clubs and are not desired by top clubs. Zidane, Figo, Messi, Ronaldo Lima, C Ronaldo etc are all playing for top clubs

Top players play for top clubs, If you are good big clubs would come for you
SportsRe: Sagamite's Top 30 Greatest African Footballers Of All Time by dayokanu(m): 9:44am On Jan 27, 2013
Afam4eva: Okocha was a commander and clubs that came for him needed a players that could single handedly take them to the promise land.
You mean top clubs like Madrid, Barca, Man Utd Bayern dont need such players its only Bolton, Fernerbahce, Frankfurt that needs such players?
SportsRe: Sagamite's Top 30 Greatest African Footballers Of All Time by dayokanu(m): 9:38am On Jan 27, 2013
Sagamite: Who gives a shyt how many tournaments he shined in?

DK, I have told you several times: I AM NOT THE TYPE TO BE IMPRESSED BY TOURNAMENT SHINE!

I look at a player, his ability, the level he played at and how he can carry his team.

Kaka was consistently the best player or top 3 in his team with AC Milan, Real Madrid and Brazil for over 5 years. He controlled the game with those teams.

Are those Ogbomoso moin-moin teams?
Kaka was never top 3 player in Real madrid and whats the 5yrs time frame you mean Kakas peak was at 2007 and he never matched that height ever again.

Which player ability would you see in Okocha or what level did he play that no top club like Madrid, Barca Bayern, AC Milan would see and only Bolton, Fenerbahce and Eitracht Frankfurt would see

Afam4eva: I noticed you're not fond of Okocha but this Okocha you call a circus entertainer carried the Nigerian team on his back for so many years just the same wayy he carried PSG and Bolton.
Carried to achieve what? You too can carry Nigeria on your back to achieve nothing

At the time Okocha was playing there Bolton and PSG were second rate clubs

Going to sleep would be back
SportsRe: Sagamite's Top 30 Greatest African Footballers Of All Time by dayokanu(m): 9:28am On Jan 27, 2013
Sagamite: Kaka and Ronaldinho spent many years at the top.

At least 5 years.

Never compare such people to Diouf.

Shining at tournaments does not make you great. Especially one tournament.
How many tournaments did Kaka shine ?

Did shone at Nations cup 2002 shone at the world cup the highest level of football the world cup

What 5yrs span did Kaka and Dinho spend at the top?

How many tournaments did Paolo Rossi shine at and he is still regarded as one of the best Italian players ever

Sagamite: 1 year of flash and you are the greatest ever (especially if you do a few hay-hay-hay leg-overs)?

Sorry, not in Sagamite's world.

Diouf is better than Liverpool's number 1 keeper during the era when Liverpool were king's in UK and Europe?

Really? undecided
Diouf was twice African footballer of the year TWICE. World cup all star.

How many years did Kaka spend at the top? Does that mean Paul Scholes is better than him?

How many years did Ronaldinho spend at the top? Did that mean Giggs is better than him

Sagamite: So Diouf is better than Yaya Toure?

Diouf is comparable to Bwalya, Essien and Hossam?

Really?
Diouf is better than Nkono, Antoine Bell, Grobellar, Pokou

Maybe Yaya Toure should be higher than that. But Diouf not top 30? thats not right for a 2 time African footballer of the year and World cup All star player
SportsRe: Sagamite's Top 30 Greatest African Footballers Of All Time by dayokanu(m): 9:05am On Jan 27, 2013
Sagamite: No, Kanoute won fair and square, why did Okocha not be able to win fair and sqaure.

Kanoute is faaaaaaaaaar better than Okocha.

Sorry, I am just trying to think like you guys that talk about awards. Diouf my arsse!.
Diouf won not once but twice, One of the best players in the French league in circa 2000-2001

Twice African footballer of the year winner

World cup All star team member

Diouf was a top footballer at his prime

CAMEROONPRIDE: ^what did okacha achieve to deserve the 2002 trophy?
Okocha did not deserve to win the African footballer of the year not even once.

Okocha was just an entertainer a circus entertainer not a purposeful footballer

Okocha wont make my own top 5 Nigerian footballers

Sagamite: Enlighten me.

Tell me where you would slot Diouf in that list.
Between 8 and 15

Diouf would fit in anywhere here

7. Thomas N'kono (Cameroun) - Goalkeeper
8. Michael Essien (Ghana) - Midfielder
9. Mahmoud El-Khatib (Egypt) - Striker
10. Joseph-Antoine Bell (Cameroun) - Goalkeeper
11. Hossam Hassan (Egypt) - Striker
12. Samuel Kuffour (Ghana) - Defender
13. Bruce Grobbelaar (Zimbabwe) - Goalkeeper
14. Kalusha Bwalya (Zambia) - Midfielder
15. Laurent Pokou (CIV) - Striker

Sagamite: The same Kanu that played 87 times for Nigeria as a striker, and scored less than Jay Jay that played 73 times as a midfielder?

The same Kanu who spent 2/3rds of his career on the bench?

No chance!

I am Sagamite, not a quack that is impressed by flash in the pan.

They played well as a team does not mean their players were great. Which of their players dominated European or African football over a long stretch?

NONE!

The Zambian players that won ANC are not great because they won.
El Hadji Diuof was a star in the Senegalese team.

He was 2 times African footballer of the year and made the the WORLD CUP ALL STAR TEAM.

After that he made a move to Liverpool. Many people on your list never achieved close to these

Jarus: All rankings I have come across have Okocha and Kanu in top 15, whether from top sports journalists, or football portals or even official CAF ranking

When CAF celebrated 50 few years ago, its official ranking had Kanu as 8, Okocha as 12 and Rashidi at 17

This is more agreeable to me, but I recognize different folks, different perspectives.
In Sagamites list I think kanu should make top 10 of African footballers but I doubt Okocha should even make top 20
SportsRe: Sagamite's Top 30 Greatest African Footballers Of All Time by dayokanu(m):
aribisala0: What did Kanu do for Super Eagleshuh Did he win Anything ? At least the others did{Okocha from the bench)
What did George Weah do for Liberia

It says greatest AFRICAN footballers and so National Team is not the only Yardstick.
Kanu should be on the list period. But he won Nothing win super Eagles
Messi too hasnt won anything for Argentina I doubt there would be any author who wont make him top 3-5 in Argentina.

What did Weah win for Liberia, Giggs for Wales, Shevchenko for Ukraine,

What did Okocha win for Nigeria as top dog? Nothing At least Kanu won the Olympics for Nigeria which is still Nigerias greatest achievement in football till date

I agree with most of the position except a few.

A very sensible list if you ask me

The Nigerians on that list I disagree with their positions. The best Nigeria should be the one who was ranked highest in the world by FIFA, who won 2 African footballer of the year awards, Won several club titles

Nigerian ranking should be

KANU Nwankwo
Finidi
Mikel
Yekini
Taribo
Oliseh
Amuneke
Okocha
Amokachi
Ikpeba

Eziachi: Don't kid yourself. During all those you mentioned, there is always an Akinloye, Ogunsanya, Akinfosile, Akintola, Tinubu sniffing around.
You can hardly call that a specified alliance. Its more or less a generalised congregation.
What is an alliance is 1967-1970 because you are serious even to shed blood and allowed your own blood to be shed to make the alliance a reality.
All those you mentioned were never part of any presidential ticket in Nigerian History. The partnership of Zik-Balewa, Ekwueme-Shagari, Tofa-Ugo etc has been ever present since independence and dont seem to be going anywhere soon

Onlytruth: It may be true, else I don't know how they could be this persistent in their support of Northern rule. They often put up this lie that "we are all Nigerians" to defend their open and relentless support for even FULANI elements whose legacy in Nigeria has been mainly bloodshed and tyrany.

I personally believe that it is possible for power to remain in MB/SE/SS for a very long time, at least until religious extremists are totally defeated in the North.
History Showed us it was Ibos who always ally with Northerners

Whats the spite back in wanting an annulment?

If he was spiteful he would have been hounding her money like most women do to the divorced spouse

He doesnt want it to be on record he was in a marriage with Kim , Why cant Kim accept that and keep her money
